Oklahoma Sooners vs. Texas Longhorns: Stream, injury report, broadcast info for week 6

Trying to figure out where to find the Sooners game on Saturday? Here’s how to watch, stream or listen to Oklahoma vs. Texas in the Red River Showdown.

Oklahoma will face off with Texas on Saturday, and if you’re wondering how you can watch the action live, you’ve come to the right place.

It all comes down to this. The Red River Showdown provides an opportunity for the Oklahoma Sooners to right a few wrongs from the last couple of weeks against their arch-rivals, the Texas Longhorns.

When the two sides meet in the Cotton Bowl on Saturday, the records and the record books get thrown out the window. All that matters is what happens between the lines.

The biggest storyline facing the two teams is the health of their quarterbacks. Quinn Ewers is expected to make his return for Texas, while Dillon Gabriel is not expected to play this week after suffering a concussion in last week’s loss to TCU.

Regardless of who plays quarterback for the Sooners, the Oklahoma defense has to be better than it has been in recent weeks. Texas poses several difficult matchups with Bijan Robinson, Xavier Worthy, and Ja’Tavion Sanders. If Oklahoma can limit some big plays and force Texas to drive the field, that will give them a better chance to make stops. And that’s what this game will come down for the Sooners. Making stops on defense. If they can’t do that, it’ll be difficult for the offense to keep up.

5 things the Sooners need to do to beat the Longhorns

5 things that need to go right for the Oklahoma Sooners to pick up a win over the Texas Longhorns in Dallas.

For the first time in over a decade, the Oklahoma Sooners are not viewed as the better team heading into Red River. After back-to-back losses against conference opponents, OU is desperate for a win.

Brent Venables has a chance to save the season with a win in Dallas this weekend. There are a few problems, however, the Longhorns aren’t going to make it easy and the Sooners are reeling from several injuries to key players.

Despite those things, an upset is not out of the question. Here are five things the Sooners need to do to beat the Longhorns and quite possibly revive their season.

No. 16 Oklahoma Sooners vs. TCU Horned Frogs: Stream, injury report, broadcast info for week 5

Trying to figure out where to find the Sooners game on Saturday? Here’s how to watch, stream or listen to Oklahoma vs. TCU.

No. 16 Oklahoma will play TCU on Saturday, and if you’re wondering how you can watch the action live, you’ve come to the right place.

The Sooners have dropped Big 12 opener for the fourth time since the formation of the conference. Each time, Oklahoma overcame the early conference loss to rally and win the Big 12

That seems like a monumental task with the improving depth, but if the Sooners are able to play the way they did in Lincoln, Nebraska, they’ll be right where they want to be at the end of the season. And that all starts with this week’s road trip to Fort Worth to take on the TCU Horned Frogs.

TCU’s offense can pose some problems, as Max Duggan’s been one of the most efficient passers in college football this far. Defensively, though they struggled in their one true test of the season against SMU. Oklahoma should be able to take advantage.

No. 16 Oklahoma Sooners at TCU Horned Frogs: Sooners Wire staff predictions

Sooners Wire staff predictions for the Oklahoma Sooners’ Week 5 road trip vs. the TCU Horned Frogs

On the first full weekend of Big 12 action in 2022, the Oklahoma Sooners (3-1, 0-1 Big 12) travel to Fort Worth to take on the TCU Horned Frogs (3-0, 0-0) for an 11 a.m. kickoff on ABC.

Every game is important, but this one took on a whole new tenor after Oklahoma’s loss to Kansas State a week ago.

The Sooners can’t afford any other slips in Big 12 play if they hope to stay in the conference title and College Football Playoff race. They need to have a bounce-back performance against a TCU team that they’ve been great against since the Horned Frogs joined the Big 12.

Oklahoma is 17-5 all time against TCU and 10-1 in Big 12 play. The Sooners have won five of the last six matchups by 18 or more points, most recently a 52-31 win over the Frogs in Norman.

Can the Sooners get their first conference win of the Brent Venables’ era over TCU? Find out what the staff here at Sooners Wire has to say about the matchup in this week’s staff predictions.

Oklahoma Football: 5 things to watch on defense against TCU

Five things to watch on defense as the Sooners look to rebound against TCU

We’re changing things up a bit this week. Instead of five players, we’re looking at five things to watch on defense.

Why?

The Sooners’ defense against Kasnas State was a non-factor, to put it kindly. They allowed nearly 300 rushing yards against Kansas State’s offense and were completely helpless against option plays.

If the Sooners want to come out of Fort Worth with a win, the defense needs to play better than they did in week four. The Sooners’ front seven was dominated by KSU’s offensive line, plain and simple.

No. 6 Oklahoma Sooners vs. Kansas State Wildcats: Stream, injury report, broadcast info for Saturday

No. 6 Oklahoma hosts Kansas State on Saturday, and if you’re wondering how you can watch the action, you’ve come to the right place.

The No. 6 ranked Oklahoma Sooners take on the [autotag]Kansas State Wildcats[/autotag] on Saturday night, and if you’re wondering how you can watch the action live, you’ve come to the right place.

The Oklahoma Sooners welcome in the alma mater of head coach Brent Venables for his first Big 12 game at the helm. Venables, who both played and coached for the Wildcats in the 80s and 90s before joining Bob Stoops’ staff in 1999.

The Sooners are coming into this primetime matchup hot, averaging 42.2 points per game after dropping 49 on the Nebraska Cornhuskers in Lincoln. They’ve won each of their games by 30 points. The Sooners’ defense has been equally good, allowing just 10 points per game through three weeks.

Kansas State had a strong start to the season with a shutout of South Dakota and a blowout win over Missouri in week two. Things came to a screeching halt in week three with their 17-10 loss to Tulane.

This is Oklahoma’s toughest test of the season on both sides of the ball. Deuce Vaughn and Felix Anudike-Uzomah are two of the best players in the country. While Adrian Martinez hasn’t been trusted to push the ball down the field, he’s a player that can hurt you with his legs.

The Sooners are currently minus-13.5 point favorites over the Wildcats. Though Kansas State has been a tough matchup for the Sooners over the last few years, many believe the Sooners will win this matchup and win big.

Here’s when you should tune in to see the game:

  • Date: Saturday, Sept. 24, 2022
  • Time: 7 p.m. CT

No. 6 Oklahoma vs. Kansas State: Sooners Wire staff plus expert predictions

Sooners Wire staff and expert predictions for the Oklahoma Sooners’ Big 12 opener vs. the Kansas State Wildcats.

Everything is looking up for the Oklahoma Sooners coming into their week four matchup with the Kansas State Wildcats.

The Sooners are 3-0, with three 30-point wins. They’re coming off of an impressive road win over old rival Nebraska in an absolutely dominating week three performance.

Hosting the Wildcats in primetime, the Sooners have another opportunity to make a statement in the early part of the 2022 season. Kansas State is a solid football team and is well coached, but simply looking at the early returns, the Sooners are the better team on paper.

Of course, that’s typically been the case over the years, and the Wildcats have found a way, even recently, to throw a wrench in Oklahoma’s plans.

The Sooners and Wildcats have played several tight football games over the last three years, with Kansas State holding a 2-1 edge during the Chris Kleiman era with K-State.

However, it’s a new day in Norman. The Sooners are a different team with a different DNA. They’ve got a defensive coaching staff that’s shown an ability to slow down the opponent’s top player and make adjustments on the fly to better put the team in a position to win.

The Sooners are double-digit favorites to win this week, can they live up to expectations, or will they play another close contest with Kansas State? Let’s see what the experts had to say.

Three keys that’ll help Oklahoma secure a road win against Nebraska

Oklahoma travels to Nebraska to take on the Cornhuskers. Here are three keys to the game that put OU in the best position to win.

We’ve seen two games from Oklahoma. While the results haven’t been bad, there’s this sense we don’t quite know what Oklahoma is this year.

We don’t have that answer yet, but Saturday’s game against Nebraska will go a long way in answering that question.

Sure, Nebraska isn’t a top 15 program as it once was. It also just fired a head coach who was a returning favorite son. Scott Frost didn’t get the job done at Nebraska, which will sting for a long time. However, the program moves on, and Oklahoma cannot get wrapped up thinking Nebraska will roll over.

With experience in the rivalry, Brent Venables knows what this game means to both sides. Venables will have to prepare his team for a hostile environment for the first time this season.

As for the on-field things to watch out for that could help Oklahoma leave Lincoln, Nebraska, as winners on Saturday night? We’ve got you covered.

Up Next: Keys to an Oklahoma win

By the Numbers: No. 6 Oklahoma Sooners at Nebraska Cornhuskers

How do the Oklahoma Sooners and the Nebraska Cornhuskers stack up statistically heading into their matchup in Lincoln?

The No. 6 Oklahoma Sooners travel to Lincoln to take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers in the second part of a home-and-home series. Last year’s matchup in Norman featured a hotly-contested defensive battle as the two teams worked to slow down Spencer Rattler, now with South Carolina and Adrian Martinez, now with Kansas State.

In the early part of this season, the contest has the makings of a much different football game.

Both teams have scored more than 36 points per game and averaged more than 461 yards of total offense per game. While the two teams look like they’ll put up a bunch of points in this game, the game will still be decided by which defense can make more stops.

Statistically, it appears Oklahoma has the edge, but it hasn’t played a team that has been as productive offensively as the Casey Thompson-led Nebraska Cornhuskers.

To get you ready for Saturday, let’s take a look at these two teams by the numbers.

Everything Brent Venables had to say following Oklahoma’s win over Kent State

Everything Brent Venables had to say after the Oklahoma Sooners 33-3 win over the Kent State Golden Flashes Saturday night.

The Oklahoma defense carried the Sooners through the first half as the offense struggled to find some consistency. But at the end of the half, the offense ran a near-perfect (false start penalty) two-minute drill leading to Dillon Gabriel’s 36-yard connection with Marvin Mims to give Oklahoma its first score of the game, which also proved to be the game-winner.

The Sooners’ offense would go on to score 33 unanswered points over the next 18 minutes of game time to put the game out of reach for a tough Kent State program that gave Oklahoma all it could handle for the first 29 minutes of the game.

Speaking to the media in the aftermath of Oklahoma’s second-straight 30-point win to start the 2022 season, here’s everything Brent Venables had to say.
