Florida jumps once again in recruiting rankings following latest committment

Eugene Wilson III’s commitment to Florida has the Gators rising up the recruiting rankings.

Florida added the twelfth commitment of its recruiting class of 2023 on Friday and that means the Gators are once again on the rise in the team recruiting rankings.

After finishing Wednesday at No. 26 on the 247Sports team rankings, Florida jumped to No. 20 after adding [autotag]Eugene Wilson III[/autotag], who took over the top spot in the class. True to Napier’s word, Florida has prioritized those recruits that are nearest by. 10 of the team’s 12 commits are from the Sunshine State and none are farther than 350 miles away from UF.

On3 is even more bullish on the Gators ranking them at No. 14 and tied with Lousiville. With even more blue-chip recruits expected to consider Florida in the coming months, it may not be long until we see UF crack the top 10 in these ratings and the top 15 on 247Sports.

Even though [autotag]Dan Mullen[/autotag] had a bad reputation for recruiting poorly, his classes always finished in the top 15 and typically broke into the top 10. [autotag]Billy Napier[/autotag] is expected to top that and he now on his way to accomplishing that goal after a rocky start.

Gator Nation was in a panic after missing out on blue-chip quarterback Jaden Rashada among other high-priority targets, but the fanbase (and coaching staff) seems to have breathed a big sigh of relief after three sunglasses emojis in around 24 hours.

Florida could be on the rise once again as early as Monday, July 11, when offensive lineman [autotag]Lucas Simmons[/autotag] makes his decision.

2023 Recruiting Rankings: Where SEC teams rank in-conference and nationally

The SEC remains one of the strongest recruiting conferences in college football here is where they currently rank nationally.

The SEC is home to a handful of nationally competitive programs, a few of which are recent national champions. It has been considered one of the most competitive conferences in the nation and it is due in large part to the high level of play.

All 14 teams are capable of bringing in some of the top recruits from all across the country.

Though the 2022 season is still a few months away, the 2023 recruiting trail is red hot and the SEC is near the center of it all.

There may be plenty of time for recruits to change their minds and flip commitments, but here is where all 14 teams rank nationally according to 247Sports.

Where the Tigers stand in the latest ESPN recruiting rankings

The Tigers are off to a good start when it comes to Brian Kelly’s bump class.

There’s a lot of time between now and the early signing period in December, which means that there’s still a great deal of work yet to be done by coach [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] and the Tigers’ staff on the 2023 recruiting class.

However, the class is starting to take shape in Baton Rouge. The team has six commits, including four ranked in the top 150 of the 247Sports composite. The class is headlined by Mac Markway, a top-100 tight end from Missouri who was originally committed to Florida.

It’s far from a complete class: The team still lacks a commitment from a quarterback or a single player in the trenches on either side of the ball. But it’s a start — and a pretty good one, at that.

According to the latest ESPN recruiting rankings for the 2023 class, LSU ranks in the top 15, coming in at No. 12. Its group also ranks No. 12 in the 247Sports composite.

SEC rank: 4 of 14
Top offensive commit: TE Mac Markway (No. 122)
Top defensive commit: CB Daylen Austin (No. 138)

A key for Brian Kelly will be keeping the Tigers an in-state recruiting power. Many of the state’s top players remain uncommitted, but LSU landed top-10 prospect Omarion Miller, a receiver with a nice blend of size and quickness to win contested balls and make plays after the catch. The Tigers also secured a verbal from the top-rated RB in Louisiana in Trey Holly. Texas is also an important recruiting ground for the Tigers, and they pulled ESPN 300 CB Ryan Yaites, a defender with good length and tremendous quickness.

There are a number of talented uncommitted prospects that the Tigers are still after this cycle, and this class has the potential to rise even more in the coming months once the coaching staff can get some players on campus for official visits.

LSU expects better than a top-15 finish from Kelly’s bump class, but he has the makings of a very solid group for his first full recruiting cycle.
