Seahawks peak performer: Wide receiver Tyler Lockett shines in Green Bay

Seattle Seahawks wideout Tyler Lockett truly shined in the team’s loss to the Green Bay Packers, finishing the day as the peak performer.

Wide receiver Tyler Lockett had himself a banner night in Green Bay, although it wasn’t enough to give Seattle the win. The Seahawks fell to the Packers 28-23, ending their 2019 campaign.

Lockett, however, was one of the bright spots in the game Sunday afternoon, helping to keep the Seahawks firmly in the action.

Quarterback Russell Wilson connected with Lockett late in the third quarter for the score to narrow the Packers’ lead.

Lockett finished the day as the team’s leading receiver, hauling in nine catches on 10 targets for 136 yards and a touchdown.

And as usual, Wilson’s No. 1 target was right where he needed him to be, including during this amazing play featuring one heck of a hit. Lockett managed to hold onto the ball, a crucial catch for Seattle.

Although the season may be over, Lockett and Wilson are just getting started – only one year removed from Doug Baldwin heading the roster. It’s safe to expect bigger and better things from these two in the future.

Russell Wilson: Seahawks receiver Tyler Lockett is 100% ready to roll

After battling a leg injury and an illness, Seattle Seahawks quarterback believes his wide receiver, Tyler Lockett, is finally ready to roll.

Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has been without the full assistance of No. 1 wide receiver Tyler Lockett over the last couple of games as the wideout first battled a leg injury and then the illness that had spread throughout Seattle’s locker room.

“Tyler is a huge part of our offense,” Wilson told reporters Thursday. “We want to get him going throughout the game and just get him the football. He’s such a special player. You definitely notice him on the field when he’s making those plays.”

Lockett has only logged five receptions over his last three outings but with the playoff push a huge factor, he remains critical to the Seahawks’ game plan going forward.

“Yeah, I think Tyler’s ready to roll – 100%,” Wilson said. “He looks fresh and ready to play some great football. We got a three-game push right here. One game at a time. We’re looking forward to that opportunity. Everything that we want is ahead of us. We’re 10-3. There’s no time for ‘woe is me’ or anything like that. We’re ready to roll and we’re looking forward to the opportunity of finding ways to win and getting to the playoffs hopefully and hopefully go a long way.”

Lockett was a full participant in Thursday’s practice but still remains listed on the report with a shin injury.

Seahawks have no limitations on wide receiver Josh Gordon

Although new to the squad, veteran wide receiver Josh Gordon will continue to factor into the Seattle Seahawks game plan.

The Seahawks recently added to their wide receiver corps when they claimed former New England Patriot Josh Gordon off waivers. Seattle didn’t waste any time putting Gordon to the test.

Active against the 49ers in Week 10, Gordon played 23 of Seattle’s 73 offensive snaps. While he only logged two receptions for 27 total yards, both catches were clutch for the Seahawks, each coming on critical third downs.

Gordon might not yet have a full grasp of the playbook, but coach Pete Carroll won’t hesitate to turn him loose when needed.

“I don’t think anything is going to hold him back in terms of his learning,” Carroll said Monday. “He has no problem at all. He did fine in the game and if we keep moving forward with it. I don’t think we would load him up to play every play or anything like that, we would still use our rotations and all – but he has no limitations.”

Seattle hopes Gordon will prove to be an extra weapon for Russell Wilson in the passing game as the team continues its run for the playoffs.

Gordon and the rest of the squad resume practice Wednesday as they prepare to face the Eagles in Week 12.
