Mike Hart updates health status after collapse, seizure at Indiana

Good news. #GoBlue

It was a terrifying moment in Bloomington: Michigan football running backs coach Mike Hart suddenly fell backward on the sideline, slipping into a seizure.

Immediately, he was surrounded by concerned staff and players, who were doing everything they could until he was stabilized enough to be carted off the field. As he was taken off, he gave a thumbs-up to those who could see in the stadium.

After the game, Wolverines players as well as head coach Jim Harbaugh shared they had learned Hart had been stabilized at the hospital, a message that Harbaugh shared with the team at halftime, but he was to stay in Indiana overnight.

On Monday morning, Michigan football shared a quote from Hart, who said he’s back in Ann Arbor, he’s feeling better, and he’s working toward rejoining the team.

Hart is in his second season coaching at his alma mater, having come from Indiana, where he was the assistant head coach under Tom Allen. Saturday’s game was supposed to be something of a homecoming for Hart, given that he spent four years in Bloomington.

ESPN CFB analyst Aaron Murray updates top-ten after Week 6

ESPN’s @AaronMurray11 updates his top-ten after Week 6

Week 6 of college football was loaded with great games.

Through the first half of the season, there’s no shortage of quality teams. Georgia, Ohio State and Alabama are viewed as the top-teams, but  Michigan, Clemson, Tennessee, USC, Ole Miss and Oklahoma State are all legit threats as well.

Former Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray, now a college football analyst with ESPN, provided me with his personal rankings of the top 10 teams following Week 6.

Murray’s rankings, plus each team’s national title odds (courtesy of BetMGM), following Week 6:

Warriors vs. Lakers: Jordan Poole, Steph Curry combine for 49 points in preseason loss

Despite 49 combined points from Steph Curry and Jordan Poole, it wasn’t enough against the Lakers on Sunday night in the preseason.

After an eventful week at training camp, the Golden State Warriors opened the doors to Chase Center for the first time since the 2022 NBA Finals for a preseason contest against the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday night.

Heading into their contest against the Lakers, the Warriors boasted a perfect 2-0 record in the preseason after two wins over the Washington Wizards in Japan.

While Draymond Green, Klay Thompson and Andre Iguodala didn’t suit up, started like Steph Curry, Andrew Wiggins, Jordan Poole and Kevon Looney all played over 20 minutes for the Warriors.

Curry and Poole combined for 49 points to lead the Warriors against the Lakers. Curry notched 24 points on 9-of-18 shooting from the floor with four rebounds and four assists in 25 minutes on Sunday night.

Poole led the Warriors with 25 points on 10-of-19 shooting from the field with a trio of 3s, six assists and four rebounds in 23 minutes. Poole heated up in the third quarter, scoring 18 of his points in a single frame.

James Wiseman continued his strong preseason with 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the floor with six boards and an assist in 18 minutes off the bench.

However, it wasn’t enough to slow Anthony Davis and the Lakers. Davis tallied a game-high 28 points on 9-of-18 shooting from the floor with three rebounds and three assists in 21 minutes. Kendrick Nunn added 21 points off the bench to help seal the Lakers’ win, 124-121.

Following a loss to the Lakers, the Warriors will be back at Chase Center for another preseason contest against the Train Blazers on Tuesday night.

Kevin Durant reacts to Jordan Poole’s smooth bucket in Warriors vs. Lakers preseason game

After Jordan Poole finished a smooth bucket against the Lakers in the preseason, Kevin Durant chimed in on Twitter.

During the Golden State Warriors preseason contest against the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday night, Jordan Poole looked in midseason form. Despite an eventful week at practice, the rising 23-year-old guard put on a show against the Lakers in front of Warriors fans at San Francisco’s Chase Center.

Poole tallied a team-high 25 points on 10-of-19 shooting with a trio of 3-pointers, along with six assists, four rebounds and zero turnovers in 23 minutes. Poole heated up after the halftime whistle, scoring 18 of his points in the third quarter.

While he heated up in the third quarter, Poole caught the attention of Kevin Durant. Following a smooth take and a crafty finish from Poole, Durant chimed in on Twitter with praise for the Warriors’ budding star’s bucket.

Via @KDTrey5 on Twitter:

Despite Poole’s impressive 25-point performance, the Warriors couldn’t hold on for a victory. Anthony Davis led the Lakers with 28 points on the way to a win over the Warriors, 124-121.

Rockets at Heat: Monday’s stream, lineups, injury reports and broadcast info

Alperen Sengun returns to Houston’s lineup Monday for a high-profile road exhibition versus Bam Adebayo and the veteran-laden Heat. Jabari Smith Jr. and Eric Gordon remain out.

Entering what was billed by many as another rebuilding year, the Houston Rockets have wildly overachieved expectations to this point in the NBA’s 2022-23 preseason. With a 2-0 record and an average margin of victory of 27 points, second-year guard Jalen Green and rookie forward Tari Eason have led the way for an improving group.

But Monday’s game at Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, and the veteran-laden Miami Heat is Houston’s first road game of the exhibition slate, and it comes versus a perennial Eastern Conference contender.

The Rockets will again be short-handed with rookie forward Jabari Smith Jr. (left ankle sprain) and Eric Gordon (rest) sitting out for a second straight game, though second-year center Alperen Sengun will return after missing Friday’s victory due to a dental procedure.

Can Houston keep its run of surprisingly strong form going? Scroll on for a look at broadcast information, projected lineups, and known injuries. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. Central at FTX Arena.

WATCH: Jameis Winston reacts to Taysom Hill’s critical touchdown pass

WATCH: Jameis Winston reacts to Taysom Hill’s critical touchdown pass

Nobody enjoyed a more productive Sunday than Taysom Hill, and no one was happier for him than his teammate Jameis Winston. The New Orleans Saints’ starting quarterback was inactive in this game due to back and ankle injuries, but Winston was one of the first to greet Hill upon his return to the sideline after lobbing a 22-yard touchdown pass to tight end Adam Trautman. It’s great to see how engaged he was despite his injuries, just like their mentor Drew Brees was before when Winston and Hill took turns filling in for him.

Each player’s future is uncertain — not just Winston and Hill, but backup quarterback Andy Dalton, who took the lion’s share of snaps under center against the Seattle Seahawks. The Saints are being patient in Winston’s recovery from a variety of different injuries, but they may have found a winning formula in the Dalton-Hill combo. Then again, they won’t face last-ranked defenses like Seattle every week. The good news is that working Winston back into the lineup is a problem for another day. For now, they’re all just happy to be 2-3.

Kirk Herbstreit releases updated college football top-six

Kirk Herbstreit’s updated top-six

ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit has ranked his top six teams in college football following Week 6 action. Week 6 featured some interesting storylines.

Texas A&M had a chance to go into Tuscaloosa and top Alabama from two yards out with three seconds to go. The Tide survived, beating the Aggies 24-20. Georgia used a dominant second-half performance to beat Auburn, 42-10, in Athens. Tennessee delivered the most impressive performance of the weekend with a 40-13 win over LSU in Death Valley. Ohio State and Michigan both cruised to wins in the Big Ten.

Right now, national championship odds, courtesy of BetMGM, are: Ohio State (plus-175), Georgia (plus-250), Alabama (plus-250), Clemson (plus-1100), Michigan (plus-2000), USC (plus-2000), Tennessee (plus-4000), UCLAs (plus-5000) and Oklahoma State (plus-6600).

Here’s how Kirk Herbstreit ranks the top six teams in college football:

Sunday Hash: Pat Dooley chews the fat over Florida’s homecoming win

Nosh on a full plate of Pat Dooley’s takes from Florida’s tight homecoming win over Missouri.

The first half of the schedule is over, and most Florida fans are happy with Florida’s 4-2 record, even if the Gators keep pushing a finger into the open wound of last season.

This team is better than 2021, but still has many of the characteristics of the team that finished 6-7. The offense is still erratic, the defense gives up too many big plays and the special teams still aren’t special.

But you can see progress, even if your nerves are raw from the emotions of five of the six games coming down to the fourth final minutes.

Florida beat a Missouri team that gave Georgia all it could handle a week ago. That’s never a bad thing. Florida also won on a day FSU and Miami suffered defeats that came down to crunch time, so the Gators have that going for them.

Let’s look back on Florida’s 24-17 homecoming win over the Tigers with some Sunday Hash.
