Cameron Jordan reacts to Tom Brady signing with the Buccaneers

New Orleans Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan welcomed Tom Brady to the Buccaneers and the NFC South, a division title he plans to defend.

[jwplayer YvOCIJt5-ThvAeFxT]

There might not be many NFL players more eager to fulfill an interview request than New Orleans Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan. Jordan made an appearance on SiriusXM NFL Radio to discuss the latest news in his orbit, including recognition on the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s NFL All-Decade Team. But he also focused on current events — like the arrival of longtime New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady in the NFC South, having signed a free agent contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (who debuted new uniforms on Tuesday).

“I mean, this is going to be super, super weird,” Jordan said, “and the fact that he will be in my division, gives me more chances to hit him, hopefully.”

So, Jordan is definitely taking this development in stride. Jordan has played against Brady just twice to date, recording one sack, two hits, and seven combined tackles (four solo). The Saints lost both contests, with the 2013 matchup coming down to a last-second touchdown pass from Brady with pressure in his face, while the 2017 tilt was, well, less memorable.

While he took time to recognize the supporting cast Brady will work with — wide receivers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, in an offense designed by the pass-happy Bruce Arians — Jordan saved his greatest appreciation for what Brady adds to the always-competitive division. Most importantly, he wants to let Brady know that the Saints intend to defend their title, and that the Buccaneers should expect to play for second-place.

Jordan said, “You’re talking about somebody who’s been known as one the greatest of all time, with six Super Bowls, and he’s a winner. And for him to be in my conference, I’m not excited about it, but at the same time, I sort of am. I would love to welcome him to the NFC South, which we’ve won for the last three years.”

Seahawks announcer Steve Raible leaves KIRO, keeps play-by-play job

Seattle Seahawks play-by-play announcer Steve Raible retired from his duties as a KIRO-7 anchor but will continue his job with the team.

Seattle Seahawks play-by-play announcer Steve Raible has announced that he will be leaving KIRO 7 in the late spring after serving as a TV news anchor for nearly 40 years.

However, he will still remain in the Seahawks radio broadcast booth on game days.

“I won’t be leaving you entirely,” Raible wrote in his goodbye press release. “I will still be your voice of the Seahawks and I will join you here on KIRO 7 for special occasions.”

Seahawks fans should be relieved to hear this news, as the 65-year-old Raible has cemented himself as a broadcasting icon in the Emerald City over the years with his distinctive voice and catchphrases such as “Touchdown Seahawks” and “Holy Catfish.”

It is difficult to imagine anyone filling Raible’s shoes in the near or distant future, but he will be around for at least the 2020 season.

How to watch, stream and listen to Seahawks at Packers playoff edition

Everything you need to know to catch the divisional-round action between the Seattle Seahawks and Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.

The No. 5 seed Seattle Seahawks hit the road to square off against the NFC’s second-seeded Green Bay Packers this weekend in the divisional round of the playoffs.

Coach Pete Carroll knows just how daunting Lambeau Field can be.

“I don’t think you can connect a fan base with your team any tighter than you can do it there,” Carroll said Monday. “They do a great job of knowing how to be a factor. Then there’s conditions too that go along with it. Early in the year it’s not a big deal, but late in the year the conditions can be a factor that you can’t copy. You just have to adjust when you’re there.”

The weather prediction for Green Bay is actually quite similar to Seattle’s forecast for Sunday – cold with a slight chance of snow. Regardless, the Packers’ faithful will be there in droves.

“Any of those things can become distractions if you let them,” Carroll continued. “The fans can do it, whether it’s snowing or whatever it feels like. All of those things are issues that you’ve got to deal with. I think any issues make it easier for the home team. It’s like playing here. We have our problems that we present them with here. I think it’s a classic place.”

How to watch, stream and listen to Seahawks at Eagles in wild-card round

Everything you need to know to catch the wild-card action on Sunday as the Seattle Seahawks square off against the Eagles in Philadelphia.

The Seattle Seahawks (No. 5 seed) will travel to Philadelphia to face the Eagles (No. 4 seed) in the wild-card round this Sunday. The Seahawks last squared off against the Eagles in November and earned one of their seven road wins this season – a franchise record.

Philadelphia finished the year with just a 9-7 record, which was good enough to win the NFC East. But coach Pete Carroll isn’t looking past the Eagles and what they were able to do to take the division.

“Incredible job of regrouping and getting their season in order to win a championship,” Carroll said Wednesday. “They had to stretch it throughout their division. They had four straight games in their division, and they had to win them all. They did. I think that shows the direction of the program from the head coach and then all throughout the leadership of the team.

“They’ve got some good experience guys and they pulled it together and did a great job.”

How to watch, stream and listen to Seahawks vs. 49ers Week 17

Everything you need to know to catch the Week 17 action when the Seattle Seahawks host the San Francisco 49ers for the NFC West title.

The Seattle Seahawks will host the San Francisco 49ers Week 17 at CenturyLink Field in a battle for the NFC West crown. With everything on the line for both teams, the game has been flexed to primetime “Sunday Night Football.

“It’s a very special week for us – last week of the season,” coach Pete Carroll said Tuesday. “Playing for everything, for the division and all that. We’re very fortunate to be in that situation. It is what we aim for. This is what we always look towards. We’re always wondering if the chance to do something like this is going to happen on the road or happen at home. We’re thrilled we’ll be here.”

Both clubs have already clinched a spot in the playoffs, but the winner of Sunday’s matchup will own the division. The Seahawks beat the 49ers on the road earlier this year, but Carroll certainly isn’t looking past them at home.

“This is a really good football team we’re playing, obviously,” Carroll explained. “They’ve done so many good things this year. A fantastic turn around by their program and their coaches and their players and all that. They’ve been flying all season long. They’ve had a lot of really extraordinary games since we saw them in the last month and a half or whatever it is. They’re ready for everything right now.”

How to watch, stream and listen to Seahawks vs. Cardinals Week 16

Here’s everything you need to know to catch the Week 16, NFC West action between the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals.

The Seattle Seahawks will face the Arizona Cardinals for the second and final time this season when the teams square off Sunday afternoon at CenturyLink Field.

Seattle currently leads the NFC West and clinched a playoff berth last week after beating the Panthers in Carolina. Still, Seattle can’t look past Arizona and just assume the easy win.

“We see the Cardinals coming off a terrific game last week against Cleveland,” coach Pete Carroll said Wednesday. “They really were doing it on all phases. The offense was ripping. The quarterback was on fire. Kenyan Drake was a new addition to the team from when we saw them before, and he’s had a huge impact. The fact that he’s been able to keep David Johnson on the bench–that’s a big impact. They really look like they’re firing on all cylinders there.

“We look at them coming off this game as tough as anybody that we’ve seen.”

Tom Brady reacts to Drew Brees’ near-record-breaking touchdown

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady saluted New Orleans Saints passer Drew Brees after he nearly broke Peyton Manning’s record.

The New Orleans Saints were so close to pulling out all the stops for Drew Brees’ record-breaking touchdown pass, which would have been No. 540 in his career — surpassing both New England Patriots passer Tom Brady (538) and retired quarterback Peyton Manning (539), ranking for the most of any player in NFL history.

But a dubious offensive pass interference foul wiped it away, protecting Manning’s hold on the record. His thoughts on the near-historic moment aren’t clear, but Brady happened to be interviewing with Jim Gray of Westwood One Radio at the time, and shared his take.

“I know, a little anticlimactic,” Brady joked. “There might be some silver linings though. You actually get to celebrate the record twice. You know? You celebrated it once, maybe you’ll get to do it again here in the second half. He’s just playing incredible and that offense, once they get it rolling they’re pretty tough to stop.”

Brady also offered a hat-tip to Brees in his pursuit of the record and his performance on the year so far. It’s clear that there’s plenty of respect between Brady and Brees, and as fortune would have it, Brady was right: because Brees found tight end Josh Hill from five yards out to seal it early in the third quarter.

Everything you need to know to catch the Week 15 action between the Carolina Panthers and Seattle Seahawks Sunday morning.

The Seattle Seahawks hope to wrap up their final road game of the regular season on Sunday with a win in Carolina. If the Seahawks emerge victorious over the Panthers, they would finish with the best away record in franchise history at 7-1.

Seattle lost its first road game of the year Week 14 in Los Angeles.

“We got to get ready to go,” coach Pete Carroll said Wednesday. “Really like to finish road trips with a really good finish right here. We’re putting everything we can into it. It’s a big championship opportunity for us and we’ve got to get right and do everything we can to make it a successful week here in practice. Then, we’ll take it to Sunday. We’re looking forward to it.”
