Legendary former Eagles QB: Jayden Daniels is the best rookie QB he’s ever seen

Philadelphia great thinks Jayden Daniels is the best rookie QB ever.

Ron Jaworski spent 17 years playing quarterback in the NFL, most notably from his 10 seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles. Since retirement, he’s worked in the media for various outlets. This week, Jaworski joined a Philadelphia radio station to discuss the Eagles’ opponent this week, the Washington Commanders, and rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels.

He’s a huge fan of Daniels.

“I don’t want to overblow what I am going to say, but I will,” Jaworski told Joe DeCamara and Jon Ritchie on Tuesday’s 94WIP Morning Show via Andrew Porter of Audacy.

“He’s the best rookie quarterback I have ever seen. I’ve seen a lot of them. The guy has been absolutely phenomenal. His calmness, his ability to throw the ball deep, short, his anticipation. I look at his feet; he’s very calm in the pocket. He’s a guy that kind of plays with a smile on his face, he’s enjoying playing football. He seems to have rallied the Washington Commanders. He’s really been outstanding………It’s remarkable for a rookie; I’ve been just blown away.”

Jaworski joins the list of former players and coaches impressed with the 2024 NFL draft’s No. 2 overall pick. Daniels has led the Commanders to a 7-3 record, and they rank in the top five in most offensive stats, including scoring.

Jaworski’s Eagles host Daniels and Washington on Thursday night in the most-anticipated NFC game of the season.

The New Orleans Saints go on the road for the first time this season to face the Dallas Cowboys in Arlington, Texas. How to watch, stream, and listen to Saints vs. Titans preseason game

How to watch, stream, and listen to New Orleans Saints vs. Tennessee Titans in the final week of NFL preseason games:

The final week of the NFL preseason is here, and the New Orleans Saints are set to host fans for their only exhibition game at the Caesars Superdome. With the Tennessee Titans visiting on Sunday and the TV broadcast set to be carried on local FOX affiliates (check your local listings), we’ll have Joel Meyers and John Stinchcomb on the call.

Here’s what you need to know to tune in:

  • What: New Orleans Saints vs. Tennessee Titans
  • Where: Caesars Superdome, New Orleans, La.
  • When: Sunday, Aug. 25, 1 p.m. CT (2 p.m. ET)

You can stream the game for free on Fubo TV (try it here), as well as a paid streaming option on NFL+. If you’re planning to listen in over the radio, tune in to WWL 870 AM or 105.3 FM with Mike Hoss and Deuce McAllister.

Don’t expect many minutes from the Saints’ starters; they’ll likely be watching this one from the sideline ahead of the regular season kickoff on Sept. 8. Instead, it’ll be many players competing for roster spots and starting jobs taking center stage.

But the most intriguing competition lies at quarterback with Jake Haener seeking to fend off Spencer Rattler as Derek Carr’s primary backup. Haener has maintained a lead through the summer thus far, but a strong performance by the rookie could put Rattler ahead on the final depth chart.

LOOK: Fans react to news of Alabama moving on from Eli Gold

Eli Gold will not be brought back as the voice of Alabama football and fans are sharing their thoughts.

Eli Gold has been the voice of Alabama football for the last 35 years, but that run has come to an end, as Chris Stewart of the Crimson Tide Sports Network is expected to take over the radio broadcast.

The news comes just over a month after legendary head coach Nick Saban announced his retirement, but Gold made it clear that he is not retiring. It seems as if the university has decided to move on from Gold beginning with the 2024 season.

Fans were quick to take to social media to share their thoughts on the news and remember their favorite moments from his time in the booth.

Eli Gold will no longer be on the radio broadcast for Alabama Football

After 35 years as the voice of Alabama Football, Eli Gold will no longer be calling Crimson Tide games on the radio.

This post was last edited at 4:15 p.m. ET.

For the last 35 years, Crimson Tide fans have found comfort and excitement in the voice of Eli Gold. The native of Brooklyn has been the voice of Alabama football since 1988, but he will be stepping down from the role, according to a report by Nick Kelly and Chase Goodbread of the Tuscaloosa news.

Gold, now 70 years old, departs from the program not too long after legendary head coach Nick Saban announced his retirement. Gold still plans on staying on the radio, he just won’t be on the call for the Tide.

According to Kelly and Goodbread, Gold will be active over the airwaves, as he will be calling games for Nashville’s professional arena football team, the Kats, in the spring and summer

The 2022 season was spent with Chris Stewart on the radio call in place of Gold after he had to step aside due to medical reasons. It was later revealed that Gold had battled cancer. Last season, in 2023, Gold was back on the call for Alabama’s home games, but it was Stewart who broadcasted when the team played on the road.

When speaking with Michael Casagrande of AL.com, Gold made it clear that he is in good health and that this was not his decision.

“Well, the university has chosen not to bring me back,” Gold said. “This is not, with a capital N-O-T, not at all health-related. I am very healthy. Everything is wonderful. I am healthy as a horse.”

Additionally, Gold has stated that he is not retiring and had plans on calling Alabama’s A-Day spring game and the upcoming season.

“I was originally told that I was going to do A-Day and they have now reconsidered on that,” Gold said, “and they’re just going to make a clean break. But they will honor their contract through the end of June.”

Stewart’s voice should be familiar to Alabama fans, as he is the play-by-play broadcaster for basketball on the Crimson Tide Sports Network. The Tuscaloosa News report states that Stewart is “likely to take over the role” left behind by Gold.
