Denny Hamlin won the Toyota 500 and celebrated with a terrifying, smiling mask of his own face

GAHHHHHHHHHHHH

Denny Hamlin had a smile on his face after winning the Toyota 500 at Darlington Raceway on Wednesday night (which included Chase Elliott flipping the bird at Kyle Busch).

That grin, however, was plastered on the mask he wore after he pulled up to do a post-race interview. That’s right, Denny Hamlin has a custom Denny Hamlin mask. And hoo boy, it’s all kinds of terrifying.

“I mean, why wouldn’t you want this mug on the trophy again?” he joked.

So here’s the question: does he have a face mask with a Hamlin frown printed on it if he lost?

Check this thing out:

GAH! I can’t help but think about Hannibal Lecter when I see that.

NASCAR is set to resume its season without fans on May 17

NASCAR is back.

Live sports is officially on the way back — it’s just a couple of weeks away. NASCAR announced on Thursday that it would resume racing in May with the first on-track events since being shut down in mid-March because of COVID-19. The races will come without fans present at the events.

The season comes back on May 17 starting at Darlington Raceway in South Carolina with the premier Cup Series racing a total of four times in an 11-day span.

So far, the races are only scheduled through the end of may with a couple of Wednesday races slotted in. Further schedule adjustments will be announced down the line, Fox Sports’ Bob Pockcrass reports.

Of course, sports fans were thrilled to see the news.

Even some of the drivers were hype.

NASCAR and UFC are the only two official North American sports organizations to officially announce their return in May so far. It’ll be interesting to see how things play out. One thing is for sure — sports fans will be tuned in.

Olympic runner prematurely celebrates near finish line, blows race and chance at record

It’s not uncharacteristic for an elite runner to begin celebrating while nearing the finish line following a hard-fought race. But it’s a big no-no to do so when a challenger is close behind and a new race course record is on the line.
