Ohio State football’s newest commitment Quincy Porter trolls Michigan

Porter gets it. #GoBucks

You have to love when a prospect commits to Ohio State football. You love it even more when they fully buy into the Michigan rivalry.

That’s exactly what happened on Friday afternoon when New Jersey wide receiver Quincy Porter committed to the Buckeyes. He was supposed to make his official visit to Ann Arbor this weekend, but canceled the trip following his pledge to Ohio State.

On top of that, Porter reposted On3’s Michigan insider EJ Holland’s thoughts about the commitment. It was a pretty succinct thought: It was a “tough break for Michigan.”

Sure, it was, but when you are recruiting again Ohio State for a wide receiver, most schools will be in that same situation.

Porter quickly is earning many Ohio State fans’ backing after this repost.

BOOM! Ohio State football gets a commitment 2025 New Jersey wide receiver

BOOM! The Buckeyes add an elite receiver to their 2025 class. #GoBucks

Although Ohio State football has the No. 1 ranked 2025 recruiting class in the country, it still needs to add more than a few prospect to stay at the top.

Helping the cause on Friday was New Jersey wide receiver [autotag]Quincy Porter[/autotag], who verbally committed to the Buckeyes. The 6-foot, 3-inch, 190-pound pass catcher preps at powerhouse Bergen Catholic, recently took an official visit to Columbus.

The trip obviously stood out because he was set to see Michigan and Oklahoma, but decided he didn’t need to. The addition of the nation’s No. 49 overall prospect and 8th ranked receiver according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings gives Ohio State some cushion at the top of the class rankings.

Porter is commitment No. 15 for the Buckeyes, as they continue to add more elite prospect to their 2025 class.

Crystal Ball picks sees Penn State land coveted wide receiver target

Penn State could be the favorite to add this wide receiver in the Class of 2025.

The Penn State Nittany Lions are desperately attempting to land some of their top wide receiver targets in the class of 2025.

With only one commit in [autotag]Lyrick Samuel[/autotag], this official visit portion of the calendar is going to go a long way in determining if they are able to accomplish their goals of securing some of their priority recruits.

All eyes are on what Top 50 ranked prospect [autotag]Quincy Porter[/autotag] will decide to do as he is [autotag]Marques Hagans[/autotag]’ and Penn State’s No. 1 guy, but that is going to be a tough recruitment to win with Michigan and Ohio State also high on his list.

The Nittany Lions are looking to land multiple future playmakers and are also extremely high on [autotag]Jeff Exinor[/autotag] out of McDonogh School in the state of Maryland.

Ranked as a four-star recruit, the 6-foot-2, 215-pounder has been linked to Penn State throughout his process.

Coming off his official visit to Happy Valley this past weekend, it seems like the Nittany Lions could be on the verge of landing their second wide receiver in the class.

Brian Dohn of 247Sports has logged a Crystal Ball pick for Penn State to secure a commitment from Exinor.

The wide receiver told people that the Nittany Lions are the leader coming out of the visit and he’s looking to move up his trip to Maryland instead of waiting to see their program later in June. Dohn said that the relationships with the coaching staff and how the offense could use him under new offensive coordinator [autotag]Andy Kotelnicki[/autotag] is appealing. Plus, he has relationships with past McDonough players who are now within the program (subscription required).

All of that points to Penn State landing one of their top targets and someone they believe can turn into a potential star for them.

It will be interesting to see what develops in the coming weeks, or even days, but it looks like this one could be close to wrapped up for the Nittany Lions.

Penn State’s top wide receiver target shares thoughts after official visit

Penn State’s top wide receiver target in 2025 has positive feedback about recent visit.

There were tons of players in Happy Valley this past weekend to visit Penn State in an official fashion. With so many top targets on their board coming to see the program, it’s hard to really narrow down who the Nittany Lions prioritized with work still left to be done across multiple positions.

However, it’s been known that four-star wide receiver [autotag]Quincy Porter[/autotag] is their top wide receiver target as he sits as the No. 49 player in the 2025 class by 247Sports’ Composite Rankings and the eighth-best at his position.

Simply put, this is the biggest target for [autotag]Marques Hagans[/autotag] and one that would make a statement if the Nittany Lions are able to land the New Jersey prospect.

Listed at 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds, there’s a thought that he can impact any program in the country immediately, something Penn State has leaned into during their recruitment of him.

Getting him on campus was already a majors step as the Nittany Lions are battling it out with Ohio State and Michigan, both programs he will take official visits to later in June.

It was unknown what his true level of interest in Penn State was, but all reports indicate he is truly considering them as an option.

His comments coming out of this trip seem to suggest that, as well.

Porter spoke with Brian Dohn of 247Sports about his official visit and it sounds like the Nittany Lions made a strong impression. He considers them “up there” based on the relationships he’s developed with the coaching staff and said hanging with the players and coaches were highlights of the weekend. He was also able to get a better gauge of how he would be utilized in the offense, calling his fit “good.” He continued to highlight his positive view of the coaching staff (subscription required).

Winning this recruitment will not be easy.

Ohio State is known for landing top players at this position, and Michigan coming off a national championship will be tough to compete against.

However, this is another positive step in his recruitment after getting him on campus, and hopefully, Penn State was able to do enough early where they can still be in the running after his trips elsewhere.

Info coming out of Penn State’s first official visit weekend

Penn State had a busy weekend of recruiting with a number of official visits from top recruiting targets.

Penn State entered its first official visit weekend that just wrapped up with many of the top targets coming to Happy Valley to get a better look at the program.

As one of the first dates on the calendar for multiple recruits in this crop, this served as an important time for the Nittany Lions to cement themselves at the top of the board, or to ensure they stay in consideration as more trips are taken.

Even though there is still time for [autotag]James Franklin[/autotag] and his staff to continue to working on gaining commitments, they ideally will start adding to their tally of 13 to fortify their 2025 class.

Because this was such an important weekend, information coming out from different prospects who made the trip is paramount in determining who is a realistic target at this point and who might be taken off the board heading into the upcoming official visits still on the calendar.

Sean Fitz of On3 was able to gather some intel and share what he’s heard so far from players coming out of this trip (subscription required).

Close to Commitment

There has been an expectation for a while that Penn State would eventually land instate wide receiver [autotag]Lex Cyrus[/autotag] who is rated as a four-star recruit. He’s taken six trips to Happy Valley, the most out of any school, and is one of their top priorities.

Fitz seems to think that’s coming as he said he’s close to putting an official pick in for the Nittany Lions to land the speedster.

Cyrus is taking an official visit to South Carolina this upcoming weekend, the other program who is really in the mix to land him, however, Penn State has done a good job throughout this process and could be gaining another receiver commitment soon.

Feeling Good

Some of the Nittany Lions’ top defensive back targets made their way to campus this weekend, and information is coming out that they were able to stay in good standing as the recruits left.

Four-star cornerback [autotag]Brandon Finney[/autotag] became a priority and it seems like Penn State is in good standing following this weekend even as he has more trips on his calendar.

Fitz said that the visit from [autotag]Antonio Branch[/autotag] went really well and the Nittany Lions are still at the top of his board saying that a decision could be coming soon and that he’s been close to locking in a commitment with Penn State.

What might have been the most important development is regarding four-star Texas linebacker [autotag]Max Granville[/autotag]. Fitz reports that the Nittany Lions are feeling “very good” about where they stand in his recruitment right now. It’s going to be a battle holding off USC, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M as he’s set to visit those campuses, but they like where they’re at following his visit.

Positive Buzz

Consensus four-star corner [autotag]Graceson Littleton[/autotag] seemed like bit of a longshot entering this official visit, but it seems like they made another good impression on the Florida native prior to him heading out to see Alabama, Oklahoma, and Iowa.

Elite wide receiver [autotag]Quincy Porter[/autotag] made his way for an important visit, and despite some pessimism that he actually views Penn State as a viable option with Michigan and Ohio State recruiting him hard, this trip seemed to have landed well for the No. 46 player in this class.

One of their other top wide receiver targets [autotag]Corey Simms[/autotag] reportedly had a “really good weekend” as he likes the staff and enjoyed his trip to Happy Valley. He’s always been viewed as a longshot, but this certainly helped their chances.

Closing Thoughts

Overall, there wasn’t much to suggest the Nittany Lions are going to secure commitments in the upcoming days, but that has rarely happened for this program during the first major official visit weekend.

Outside of Cyrus and Branch, who already seemed close to picking Penn State, there isn’t certainty that they’re going to land many of the recruits who were on campus.

However, they certainly made a good impression on many of their top targets, one of the main goals anytime the Nittany Lions host prospects in an official capacity, and that could loom large throughout the remainder of their processes.

Elite 2025 wide receiver taking official visit to Penn State this weekend

Penn State is gearing up to host a major wide receiver recruiting target this weekend.

What dominated headlines as soon as the Penn State season ended last year was what they were going to do at wide receiver after that unit was subject to tons of criticism following their poor play.

Transfer additions who could immediately be impact players for the upcoming season were all that anyone wanted to talk about, but it turned out the only thing that happened were departures through the portal.

Recruiting then became the next thing of focus as only one player has committed to the Nittany Lions in the class of 2025.

To say fans are concerned would be putting it lightly, but there is still time to fill out their class heading into the all-important official visits.

With many of their desired targets still on the board, perhaps there is no one who fits the profile of the type of receiver that the Nittany Lions and their fans want more than [autotag]Quincy Porter[/autotag].

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound New Jersey native is an elite prospect, ranked as a consensus four-star recruit and the 44th-best player in the country by On3’s Industry Rankings.

Landing him would be a major win for wide receivers coach [autotag]Marques Hagans[/autotag].

The first step in doing so is getting him on campus for an official visit, something they were able to secure for this upcoming weekend.

It’s going to be a major battle for Penn State to land Porter.

Back in mid-May, they made his top six schools list with the likes of Ohio State, Michigan, Oklahoma, Alabama, and Texas A&M joining them.

Right now, it feels like a four-horse race as the elite wide receiver has locked in his four official visits for the month of June, visiting the Nittany Lions first, followed by Ohio State, Michigan, and Oklahoma.

Penn State is in the mix according to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, which gives them the second-best odds of landing Porter at 19.3%. They trail only Michigan which has been given a 26.4% chance.

This is a huge recruitment for the Nittany Lions and one they hope they can win.

Michigan football makes top 6 for elite 2025 wide receiver

Definitely need elite wideouts like these. #GoBlue

Two things can be true at once: Michigan football hasn’t necessarily been a high-flying passing team but still somewhat attracts top wide receiver talent.

The Wolverines don’t get top-flight wideouts every recruiting cycle, but players like Roman Wilson, Cornelius Johnson, Donovan Peoples-Jones, Tarik Black, and Nico Collins were among the elite at the position in their respective recruiting cycles. Now the maize and blue are hoping to reel in a high-end pass-catcher from a school it’s had decent success at recruiting.

2025 Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic four-star wide receiver Quincy Porter revealed his top six schools on Monday and Michigan made the cut. However, it does feel like something of an outlier compared to the others that also did: Ohio State, Alabama, Penn State, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M — all schools with a higher penchant for passing than the Wolverines.

Still, Michigan put its last three starters at wide receiver into the NFL via the draft. Roman Wilson was the highest-selected having gone in the third round to the Pittsburgh Steelers while Ronnie Bell and Cornelius Johnson were both seventh-round selections.

Porter does not have any predictions as to where he’ll eventually end up. He is rated by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 51 player in the country nationally and the seventh-best wide receiver in the 2025 class.

He has visited Ann Arbor having visited the week before the spring game in April.

Penn State reportedly facing uphill battle in elite WR’s recruitment

Penn State facing stiff Big Ten competition for New Jersey wide receiver target in 2025.

It’s no surprise that Penn State fans have their eyes and ears open for any recruitments that involve the wide receiver position.

That was a hot topic all 2023-24 season as that unit was heavily criticized and didn’t look like groups the Nittany Lions have fielded in the past.

Recruiting that position at a high level will ensure Penn State doesn’t face those same issues again.

One player they would love to land is four-star [autotag]Quincy Porter[/autotag] from New Jersey.

He’s a 6’3″ 190-pound prospect who is ranked as the 32nd overall player in the class of 2024 and No. 5 player at his position according to On3’s Industry Ranking.

Porter is a highly coveted recruit who has been offered by over 30 schools across the country, including by high-level programs like Ohio State, Michigan, Alabama, Georgia, Oregon, Texas, and others.

He’s taken 11 visits so far, including ones to Florida and Florida State this past January.

The last time he was on campus to see Penn State was January 2023 when he visited for Junior Day.

Sean Fitz of On3 thinks it will be an uphill battle for the Nittany Lions to secure a commitment from Porter as his recruitment has become national and he is expected to heavily take into account NIL packages that he’ll be offered (subscription required).

On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine currently has Penn State with the third-best odds to land him with an eight percent chance. That trails his in-state school Rutgers, which is in the lead, and Michigan, which he has visited twice.

Porter is weighing his options and has not made any cuts, suggesting that his recruitment is still wide open.

Penn State has some work to do if they want to land this elite wide receiver.

Four-star Garden State WR recruit sets visit date with Florida

This blue-chip recruit out of New Jersey will be paying a visit to Gainesville later this month… as well as Tallahassee.

Florida has been hosting a plethora of prep prospects since the opening of the college football recruiting contact period and there has been no sign of Billy Napier and Co. slowing down anytime soon.

Plenty of top recruits have made plans to visit the Swamp this month, including four-star wide receiver [autotag]Quincy Porter[/autotag] out of Oradell (New Jersey) Bergen Catholic in the 2025 cycle. The 6-foot-3-inch, 190-pound pass-catcher told 247Sports that he plans to visit on Friday, Jan. 26.

The Gators extended their offer to the Garden State product on April 27 — two days after the Florida State Seminoles. The high school junior will also stop in Tallahassee to see Mike Norvell’s program on Saturday after spending time in Gainesville.

Porter is ranked No. 37 overall and No. 6 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 32 and 5, respectively. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine gives the Rutgers Scarlett Knights a 23.6% chance of signing him, followed by the Michigan Wolverines (20.7%), Penn State Nittany Lions (9.3%) and Ohio State Buckeyes (7.7%).

Wisconsin offered Quincy Porter, a four-star wide receiver from Oradell, New Jersey on Tuesday. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound athlete is a sophomore at Bergen Catholic High School and has begun to attract a great amount of a attention nationally as a member of the class of 2025.
