Seahawks announce 2 front office leadership staff promotions

The Seattle Seahawks announced two members of the front office leadership staff have been promoted.

The Seattle Seahawks organization announced a couple of promotions to the front office leadership staff on Thursday afternoon via the team website.

First, Jeff Dunn has been named Chief Strategy Officer and will report to Seahawks President, Chuck Arnold. Dunn originally joined the organization in 2013 and was quickly promoted to Vice President of Business Strategy & Analytics in June 2014.

In addition, Seattle elevated Kenton Olson to Vice President of Digital & Emerging Media. In his new capacity, Olson will report to Seahawks Chief Communications Officer, Dave Pearson. Olson has been with the Seahawks since 2007 and most recently served as Seattle’s Director of Digital & Emerging Media from 2010-2023.

Chargers re-shuffle coaching staff ahead of 2023 NFL draft

The Chargers announced two new hires and two promotions on their coaching staff on Wednesday.

The Chargers announced two additions to their coaching staff on Wednesday as well as two promotions. The team officially hired former Georgia Southern defensive coordinator Will Harris as an assistant secondary coach and Phil Serchia as an offensive assistant.

Harris was a standout at the collegiate level, helping to guide Georgia Southern to a 6-7 record last season despite adversity within the program. Serchia, on the other hand, is far less established, having coached last at Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson, Kansas for the last three seasons.

In addition to the new hires, Mike Hiestand and John Timu were promoted to new positions as returning staff from last season. Hiestand will serve as the Chargers’ front-seven specialist on defense after previously coaching the team’s offense, and Timu is set to take over as an assistant defensive line coach.

These changes could prove to be critical moves as Los Angeles starts readying itself for their offseason program this spring, and should help as the team moves into the training camp and preseason processes later in the summer. How exactly each of these coaches will function within the team is, to this point, unknown, though head coach Brandon Staley certainly seems to have a clear direction for his staff as he looks to help the Chargers bounce back from a brutal end to their 2022 season.

DraftKings to reportedly ‘halt’ early win NFL promotion after paying out $75 million in two weeks

Some promos are just too good to pass up. Others are too good to keep up.

Updated: September 21, 2022 7:40 pm ET

The start of football season is generally one of the biggest months of the year for sportsbooks—particularly when it comes to marketing those books.

From deposit matches to boosted odds and risk-free bets, all sorts of free money is set aside for potential gamblers so long as they continue logging into apps.

To begin the NFL year, the DraftKings launched an “Early Win Up 10” promotion on select games. The concept was simple: if the team you bet on goes up by 10 points at any moment during the game, your bet automatically cashes.

According to Action Network’s Avery Yang, that led to the company paying out $75 million bets on early wins over the first two weeks of the season. And that may be it for the promo for awhile.

A company spokesman told BetFTW via email after this report was published no decision has been made moving forward either way. DraftKings runs a similar “Up 7 Early Win” promotion for Thursday Night Football that will continue for Week 3 between the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Per Yang, a $100 bettor using the promo would be up a profit of as much as $1,150 for $2,900 total risked. That’s an ROI of 39 percent based on the first two weeks of the promotion:

The $75 million figure for how much the sportsbook paid out as a result of the promotions only factors in teams that went up seven or 10 points.

It does not count, for instance, bets on the Dolphins or Cardinals, who overcame 21- and 16-point fourth quarter deficits to win on Sunday.

While neither team led by 10 — meaning the promotion didn’t apply — more bettors put wagers on the two teams because of the early win assurance.

In other words, the true value of the amount paid out by DraftKings on those games may be significantly higher since both sides were declared winners at various points due to the promotion. Similarly, without knowing the full handle, it’s unclear if DraftKings profited overall from the amount wagered on those games.

Considering DraftKings is one of the major sportsbooks in the United States, it remains to be seen what impact this will have on promotions offered by competitors. PointsBet, for example, has made discretionary decisions to already grade some season-long NFL futures.

In any case, this is just another reminder to shop around for promotions before you place a bet.

Ravens promote nine personnel members

The Ravens have promoted nine members of the personnel department

The Baltimore Ravens organization is known to be a model franchise in the NFL. They regularly promote from within, which gives employees a sense of job security as well as the mindset that hard work can pay off with promotions.

On Wednesday, it was announced that nine personnel members of the Baltimore organization were promoted. These promotions are well deserving and it means that the Ravens have the utmost trust and respect for the hard work that these individuals do to make the organization one of the best.

  • David Blackburn: Director of college scouting
  • Mark Azevedo: Assistant director of player personnel
  • Houegnon “Q” Attenoukon: Full-time area scout
  • Patrick McDonough: Northeast area scout
  • Derrick Yam: Manager of data and decision science
  • Jenn Hoffman: Chief of staff to the general manager
  • Kevin Domboski: Associate head athletic trainer
  • Mark Bievenu: Vice president of football video operations
  • Collin Ferguson: Director of football video operations

Keeping with the tradition of hiring from within, the Ravens are still one of the classiest organizations in all of sports, so promoting their personnel members is nothing new. They have been one of the best organizations at identifying talent on the field, but off of it they’ve also done a great job.
