Texans’ locker room isn’t talking about the Pro Bowl

The Houston Texans locker room isn’t talking about the Pro Bowl, says QB Deshaun Watson. They still have higher aspirations.

The NFL will announce Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. CT on NFL Network the Pro Bowl rosters for the AFC and the NFC. Some Houston Texans will make the cut to visit Orlando in the winter.

DeAndre Hopkins and Deshaun Watson are natural additions to the Pro Bowl. Others like Laremy Tunsil, D.J. Reader, Justin Reid, Benarrick McKinney, Zach Cunningham and Carlos Hyde could sneak in.

While earning a Pro Bowl bid is a nice resumé booster and will bring some fan attention, it’s not on the mind of the Texans’ locker room.

“Not a lot of guys have been talking about that,” Watson said on Tuesday on making the Pro Bowl. “If it happens, it happens, but that’s not the main focus.”

What is the main focus?

“The main focus is taking care of business on Saturday and then take care of the next step,” Watson said.

The Texans have unfinished business. Though they defeating the red-hot Tennessee Titans on Sunday to take the lead in the AFC South, they haven’t won it yet. To do so, they will need a victory on Saturday over the 7-7 Tampa Bay Buccaneers, in Tampa Bay.

The Texans appear playoff bound, needing one more win out of two attempts or a Titans loss to the New Orleans Saints to get there. From there on, their focus goes directly to the playoffs.

Houston does not have a chance to steal a first-round bye from the Baltimore Ravens or New England Patriots. If the Watson-led Texans want to reach the Super Bowl in Miami, they will have to play five more games and win three in a row.

The Pro Bowl is not one of those games they have to play and win.

The Texans want to be in Florida in late Janurary and February. However, they want to be in the southern part, not central.

Which Colts should be selected to 2020 Pro Bowl?

Can the Colts get any Pro Bowlers?

Even after losing their starting quarterback just before the regular season, there were still a handful of Indianapolis Colts players that were considered to be at or approaching a Pro Bowl level.

With two games remaining, the perspective has changed quite a bit as the team is officially out of playoff contention and won’t be able to finish with a winning record. Yet, there are still a few players that could make the Pro Bowl this season.

Here are four Colts that are worthy of being selected to the Pro Bowl:

G Quenton Nelson

Yup, it’s another Pro Bowl for the second-year left guard. Nelson had the difficult task of improving on an All-Pro rookie season, and he’s done just that. There aren’t many guards in the league better than Nelson and there likely isn’t an argument as to who is better than the Notre Dame product right now. He’s the kind of nasty offensive lineman that has a highlight reel. Name another offensive lineman that has one. We’ll wait.

Nelson is a stout pass protector and an equally strong run blocker. He’s the heart of the Colts offensive line and has been one of the biggest reasons for the team’s success in running the football.

The Houston Texans are expected to have a couple of selections to the AFC roster with quarterback Deshaun Watson and receiver DeAndre Hopkins playing at a high level. What helps with the visibility of any Texans player’s accomplishments is the fact Houston is 9-5 and a win away from securing their second consecutive AFC South title.

The Pro Bowl will be held on Jan. 26, 2020 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Fla. No kickoff time has been announced. It will be the fourth year in a row the NFL’s all-star game has been held in Orlando.

Multiple New Orleans Saints players like Drew Brees and Michael Thomas figure to make the cut for the upcoming 2020 Pro Bowl roster.

Voting has closed for the 2020 Pro Bowl, and the official announcement for rosters from the AFC and NFC will be aired at 8:00 p.m. ET during “NFL Total Access” on NFL Network.

The New Orleans Saints seem to always be well-represented on the Pro bowl roster these days, which makes since given the star power they’ve gathered. Between the NFL’s all-time leader in career touchdown passes in Drew Brees and a contender for the single-season receptions record in Michael Thomas, they’ve got plenty of talent to go around.

Obviously the Saints would rather be preparing for Super Bowl LIV than taking part in this exhibition game. But it’s still an entertaining watch and a big honor for those selected, and something that will come into play during contract negotiations for many pending free agents. The Saints have done a great job of rewarding their homegrown talent, but this is an opportunity for someone like strong safety Vonn Bell (who leads all NFL defenders with five fumble recoveries) to build his reputation and make some money.

Plus, it’s just a fun game. Last year, running back Alvin Kamara got to try his hand on defense and nearly sacked Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson with some real speed off the edge. Where else are you going to see plays like that?

The 2020 NFL Pro Bowl rosters will be announced Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. CT on NFL Network. With the Houston Texans sitting at 9-5, first place in the AFC South, and a win away from clinching the division, they have a few players worthy of making the all-star lineup.

Nobody does it better, except maybe New Orleans Saints receiver Michael Thomas. Hopkins has the second-most catches in the league with 99, sixth-most yards with 1,142, and the second-most first downs with 67. The two-time All-Pro has produced five games with 100-plus receiving yards.

The NFL will reveal its Pro Bowl rosters on Tuesday night, announcing which players will take part in the star-studded game in January. The Rams have sent several players to the Pro Bowl in each of the last two years, ranging from Aaron Donald to Todd Gurley to Jared Goff, but they may not be as well-represented this season.

In the midst of a down year, here are three players who are deserving of being named to the 2020 Pro Bowl.

DT Aaron Donald

Orlando Ramirez-USA TODAY Sports

Donald surprisingly isn’t the top vote-getter at defensive tackle anymore, being overtaken by DeForest Buckner of the 49ers. Still, Donald is a lock to make the Pro Bowl, given the way he’s played this season. He won’t come close to the 20.5 sacks he had last year, sitting at 11.0 with two games remaining, but he leads the league with 19 tackles for loss and has 28 hurries – only two fewer than last year.

He’s arguably the best defensive player in the league and is the favorite to win his third straight Defensive Player of the Year award, so how could he not make the Pro Bowl?

Here’s a look at how to see which players will take the field for the NFC and the AFC, respectively.

The NFL regular season is now just a couple of weeks away from its end, but that won’t mean the end of the line for some players on teams that don’t edge their way into the postseason.

The 2020 Pro Bowl votes are in, and the rosters will officially be announced this week.

As of now, the only true lock the Titans seem to have in the game is punter Brett Kern, who finished first in voting among AFC punters with 93,586 votes.

2020 NFL Pro Bowl: Predicting which Eagles will be selected

Brandon Brooks among several Eagles who should make the Pro Bowl

The NFL is set to announce the rosters for the 2020 Pro Bowl and the Eagles should be well represented despite a litany of injuries and inconsistent play this season.

With fan voting completed and the rosters set to be announced, here are The Eagles Wire predictions for which Birds will be named Pro Bowlers.

***

1. Zach Ertz TE

Ertz is No. 5 in the NFC in catches and is tied with George Kittles of the 49ers with 888 yards receiving, tops among NFC tight ends.

2. Brandon Brooks RG

One of the highest graded players in all of football regardless of position, Brooks was recently made the highest-paid guard in pro football and deserves the selection.

3. Jason Kelce C

He’s not having his normal dominant season, but he’s still among the best centers in the NFL and is deserving of the honor.

4. Fletcher Cox DT

Cox isn’t having his usual dominant season, but he’s played hurt, the bulk of every game as the team’s only dominant defensive tackle. He’s still one of the highest graded players regardless of position in the NFL.

The 2020 NFL Pro Bowl will be played at 3:00 PM on Sunday, January 26 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida and will be televised nationally by ESPN.

3 Seahawks among positional leaders in Pro Bowl fan vote

The Seahawks have three players, Russell Wilson, Michael Dickson and Bobby Wagner, among the leading vote getters in the Pro Bowl fan vote.

The Seattle Seahawks will almost certainly have a handful of players represented at the Pro Bowl again this year, which will be held in Orlando the week before the Super Bowl.

The rosters are set to be announced on Tuesday, December 17 at 5:00 p.m. PT, but the results of the fan voting – which accounts for one-third of the election process – are in, and three Seahawks are polling well.

Russell Wilson is second among NFC quarterbacks, behind Lamar Jackson of the Ravens, while linebacker Bobby Wagner and punter Michael Dickson are tops at their respective positions.

While those three are almost certainly going to be extended Pro Bowl invitations for the second year in a row, the Seahawks have a handful of other players who could hear their name called as well.

Running back Chris Carson is approaching 1,200 rushing yards on the season, ranking fourth in the NFL, and should be named to the team this year after being an alternate last year.

Tyler Lockett is nearing the 1,000 yard marker, and although his performance has waned in the past few weeks thanks to an injury and a bout with the flu, he still seems like an option for the roster.

Finally, a few other defensive players (Jadeveon Clowney, Bradley McDougald, Shaquill Griffin) are strong candidates, at the very least as alternates.

Of course, the Seahawks have their sights set on a Super Bowl berth, which would cause each of their Pro Bowlers to decline their invitation while they get ready for the big game.
