Falcons’ Jessie Bates leads NFC free safeties in Pro Bowl voting

Falcons Pro Bowl Vote: Jessie Bates is 1st among NFC free safeties, Nate Landman cracks the top 10 at linebacker

The Atlanta Falcons are on track to have at least one starter in this year’s Pro Bowl. The NFL released an updated look at the Pro Bowl voting and Jessie Bates has moved into first place among free safeties in the NFC.

Bates moved up one spot from last week, and there’s no reason to think he won’t hold onto the top spot with the way he’s playing this season. Four other Falcons players are currently top 10 in votes received.

Check out where the team’s five Pro Bowl hopefuls rank at their respective positions below.

The Atlanta Falcons lead their division after 12 games but they aren’t currently leading at any position in the 2024 Pro Bowl vote. Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (1st) and Houston Texans rookie C.J. Stroud (2nd) have the most votes thus far.

The NFL announced the top vote-getters at each position and four Falcons players are still in the running.

The NFL’s postseason all-star event will look very different this year, with the traditional Pro Bowl replaced by the Pro Bowl Games. Gone is the half-hearted tackle football game pitting AFC versus NFC; fans will be treated instead to a week’s worth of skills competitions and a flag football exhibition featuring the highest vote-getters from across the two conferences.

But a nomination is still a badge of honor for players as a way to differentiate the best of the best and measure elite play in a given season.

Voting has been open for almost two weeks, and the NFL has leaked the current standings with nearly three weeks still to go.

The Cowboys are well-represented, with two players leading their positions in the fan vote. Five others are reportedly within striking distance.

Fans can cast a vote as often as they’d like at www.nfl.com/pro-bowl-games/vote, via the official website of any team, or directly on Twitter from Dec. 1 through Dec. 15 using a special hashtag.

Here’s a look at how the Cowboys are faring in the current count, as of midday Nov. 28.

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes continues to lead Pro Bowl fan voting

Mahomes leads Pro Bowl fan voting by over 3,000 votes.

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes continues to lead the NFL in Pro Bowl fan voting. He originally had the lead with 143,355 votes, but he’s now extended the lead with 206,525 according to the NFL’s most recent update. Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson is hot on his tail with around 3,000 fewer votes, narrowing the lead from the original update.

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (185,218) and Chiefs DT Chris Jones (93,564) also lead their respective position groups in fan voting for the AFC conference. Kelce’s number of votes is good for the fifth-most of any player in the NFL.

Tyrann Mathieu, who led fan voting at the AFC’s strong safety position with over 70,000 votes in the first update from the NFL, has fallen behind Buffalo Bills safety Jordan Poyer. According to the latest update, Poyer leads the AFC at that position with over 102,000 votes.

The Chiefs have a total of 27 players up for selection to the Pro Bowl this year. Keep in mind that a game won’t be played due to COVID-19, but they’re still voting on players due to incentives and the like. The NFL plans to have a Madden Tournament among players in lieu of an actual game this year.

Pro Bowl voting is still open for a few more weeks. You can vote for your favorite players on NFL.com until Thursday, December 17. You can also now vote on Twitter. All you need to do is tweet the first and last name of the player, the player’s official Twitter handle, or a hashtag including the player’s first and last name along with the #ProBowlVote hashtag.

2020 Pro Bowl voting now open

It’s time to cast your vote to send your favorite Charger to the 2020 Pro Bowl.

Voting for the 2020 NFL Pro Bowl is officially open.

Fans can vote on NFL.com/ProBowlVote from Tuesday, Nov. 12 until Sunday Dec. 12. The rosters for the AFC and NFC will be announced on Tuesday, Dec. 17 on NFL Network.

During the final two weeks of 2020 Pro Bowl voting — November 28-December 12 — fans will also be able to vote on Twitter. To cast a vote, fans should tweet the first and last name of the player, the player’s official Twitter handle, or a hashtag including the player’s first and last name. It must include the hashtag: #ProBowlVote.

Fans, players and coaches will each account for one-third toward determining the 88 All-Star players who will be selected to the Pro Bowl

Even though it hasn’t been the sunshine and rainbows for the Chargers, the team still has several players worthy of Pro Bowl consideration this season.

Running back Austin Ekeler has been a force as a ball carrier and as a pass-catcher. Ekeler has totaled 899 yards from scrimmage and nine touchdowns. Wide receiver Keenan Allen has cooled down a little bit the past few weeks, but he has still amassed 62 receptions for 725 yards and three touchdowns.

On the other side of the ball, cornerback Casey Hayward continues to shut down some of the league’s best receivers on a weekly basis. In the trenches, defensive ends Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa remain as one of the top pass-rushing tandems, combining for 13 sacks.

Fullback Derek Watt and linebacker Drue Tranquill have done their fair share of work on special teams. Watt leads the league in special teams tackles with 12, while Tranquill is third with nine.
