Von Miller’s alleged victim: ‘No one assaulted anyone’

“No one assaulted anyone,” Von Miller’s alleged victim wrote in a text message to WFAA.

Von Miller turned himself in to police in Texas on Thursday and was released after posting bond. The Dallas Police Department had previously issued a warrant for Miller’s arrest on a charge of assaulting a pregnant person.

Miller’s longtime girlfriend accused him of domestic violence on Wednesday. According to the affidavit for the arrest warrant, the alleged victim told police that Miller’s abuse included placing a hand on her neck during an argument and applying pressure.

The affidavit says police officers arrived at the scene later and observed “minor abrasions” on her left hand, plus bruising on her neck, abdomen and left biceps. She was treated for minor injuries but not taken to a hospital.

Despite her initial allegations and the police observations, the accuser has now downplayed the incident in text messages to WFAA in Dallas. She called it “a huge misunderstanding” and described the incident as “a verbal disagreement.”

“We’re fine,” she wrote in a message to WFAA. “Things were blown way out of context. This is actually outrageous!”

In a big contradiction to the initial story, she went on to say that there was no assault.

“No one assaulted anyone,” she wrote. “This is insane. And sad.”

Miller plays for the Buffalo Bills, who have a bye this week. He previously played for the Los Angeles Rams and Denver Broncos.

Von Miller turned himself in and was released after posting bond

Von Miller was booked into the DeSoto Tri-City Jail in Texas on Thursday and was later released after posting bond.

Von Miller turned himself in to police in Glenn Heights, Texas and was booked into the DeSoto Tri-City Jail on Thursday, according to a report from ESPN’s Alaina Getzenberg.

The Dallas Police Department had issued a warrant for Miller’s arrest on a charge of assaulting a pregnant person. After being booked on Thursday, Miller posted bond and was released.

Miller has been accused by his longtime girlfriend of assault. From ESPN:

Per the affidavit, Miller stepped on her feet as he pushed her, which caused her to fall into a chair, and then using one hand, he applied pressure to her neck for three to five seconds, which caused pain, but not difficulty breathing, per the affidavit.

As she continued to try and gather her belongings, Miller grabbed her phone and threw her laptop on the floor and stomped on it. When she tried to retrieve it, he pulled her hair and caused her to fall to the ground and a chunk of her hair to come out. When she got up to leave and get her belongings, she started recording on a phone in her pocket, per the affidavit, and was grabbed again by Miller and pushed onto the couch and placed pressure on her neck with both hands, causing pain.

Miller, 34, plays for the Buffalo Bills, who have a bye this week. He previously played for the Los Angeles Rams and Denver Broncos.

Arrest warrant issued for Von Miller for domestic violence charge

Von Miller has been accused of assault in Dallas and police have issued a warrant for his arrest.

The Dallas Police Department has issued an arrest warrant for Von Miller in connection to a domestic violence case, according to a report from WFAA’s Rebecca Lopez.

“Miller’s longtime girlfriend has accused him of assaulting her at their home in Dallas on Wednesday morning,” Lopez reported Thursday. “[T]he warrant was for a charge of assaulting a pregnant person, which is a third-degree felony.”

Miller, who plays for the Buffalo Bills, returned home to Texas during the team’s bye this week.

“This morning, we were made aware of an incident involving Von Miller,” the Bills said in a statement Thursday. “We are in the process of gathering more information and will have no further comment at this point.”

Miller, 34, was previously subject to a criminal investigation by the Parker Police Department while playing for the Denver Broncos in 2021, but no charges were filed in that investigation.

Miller played for the Broncos from 2011 until mid-season in 2021 when he was traded to the Los Angeles Rams. After winning Super Bowls in Denver and Los Angeles, Miller signed with Buffalo in 2022.

Michael Thomas responds to Kenner incident with ‘Friday’ reference

Michael Thomas responded to Friday night’s Kenner incident with a reference to the classic comedy film ‘Friday’

Michael Thomas doesn’t appear to be too worried about his Friday night arrest in Kenner. The New Orleans Saints wide receiver was involved in an altercation with a construction worker that led his arrest and misdemeanor charges for simple battery and criminal mischief. The incident is not impacting his availability for Sunday’s road game with the Minnesota Vikings.

And Thomas responded to the whole ordeal with an on-point reference to the classic comedy film Friday starring Ice Cube, Chris Tucker, and Nia Long. Thomas shared a clip from the film on Instagram and X, the social media network formerly known as Twitter, featuring the actor Ronn Riser as the protagonist’s neighbor Stanley; who repeatedly asks bystanders “Could y’all stay off my grass please?” in a running gag over the course of the story.

This incident started when construction crews working on a home in Thomas’s neighborhood allegedly trespassed and blocked access to his property over the course of several weeks, which lends credence to Thomas’s complaint. We’ll have to wait for the legal process to play out, but Thomas is expected to play for the Saints on Sunday and in the games remaining on their schedule this season.

Kenner PD releases statement, announces charges in Michael Thomas arrest

The Kenner police department announced charges against Michael Thomas after arresting him Friday night:

The Kenner police department announced charges against New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas after arresting him Friday night, according to a press release shared by WDSU’s Travers Mackel. Thomas faces counts of simple battery and criminal mischief — both misdemeanors — after an altercation with a contractor working on a home in his neighborhood.

Thomas was booked and released without incident, and he is expected to play in the Saints’ road game with the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

The release from Kenner police clarified that these charges will be adjudicated in the city mayor’s court. In Louisiana, simple battery carries a fine of up to $1,000 and/or imprisonment for up to six months. The second misdemeanor for criminal mischief may result in a fine of up to $500 and/or six months’ imprisonment. Neither charge has a minimum sentence.

We’ll have to wait and see how the legal process plays out here, but it doesn’t appear that Thomas will be unavailable for the Saints in the foreseeable future.

Help needed: Former Notre Dame defensive lineman missing since Oct. 8

Here’s hoping and praying for a positive outcome.

There is troubling news Tuesday evening: Former Notre Dame defensive lineman [autotag]Ethan Johnson[/autotag] has been missing since Friday, Oct. 8.

Johnson was last seen in Vancouver, Washington, last Friday.

KPTV in Oregon reports that police have stated “Johnson suffers from traumatic brain injury.”

Johnson is described as 6-5, 210-pounds and has a birth mark on his left ear and a mole near his right eye.

Johnson was one of the top-rated defensive linemen nationally in the 2008 recruiting class and recorded 12.5 sacks in his Notre Dame career. He has been open about head injuries sustained from football before.

Johnson told Rolling Stone in 2014:  “Getting fired from my first job because of a concussion still leaves a bad taste in my mouth,” he says. “I went to Kansas City’s camp and I felt like I was doing alright and then I got injured. I was concussed. I was technically still concussed and still under doctor’s care when they released me. The GM and the coach said they hadn’t seen enough to keep me.”

If spotted, police ask that you don’t try to contact him, instead reach out authorities.

Here’s hoping for the best for Ethan and his loved ones.

Aqib Talib steps aside from Amazon’s ‘Thursday Night Football’ coverage

Aqib Talib won’t be part of Amazon’s ‘Thursday Night Football’ coverage this season.

Aqib Talib won’t be part of Amazon’s Thursday Night Football coverage this season, the former cornerback told NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Talib is stepping aside from his role on TNF after his brother, Yaqub, was charged with felony first-degree murder after a man was killed at a youth football game in Dallas on Aug. 13. Yaqub turned himself in last week.

Aqib and Yaqub are both coaches for the North Dallas United Bobcats. The shooting happened after arguments about a call during a game between the Bobcats and D.E.A. Dragons. The argument turned physical and then one of the Dragons’ coaches, 43-year-old Michael Hickmon, was shot multiple times and later died. Yaqub allegedly shot Hickmon.

Aqib has not faced any charges. He told Rapoport that he’s is stepping “aside from his broadcasting duties at Amazon to spend time with his family.” Talib had previously signed on with Amazon earlier this year to contribute to pre-game, halftime and post-game coverage of TNF in 2023.

Talib had a 12-year career in the NFL and he won Super Bowl 50 with the Denver Broncos following the 2015 season.

Green Bay Police Department reviewing incident with Packers RB A.J. Dillon

The Green Bay Police Department is reviewing an incident involving a physical confrontation between an officer and Packers RB A.J. Dillon at Lambeau Field.

The Green Bay Police Department has begun an internal review of a confrontational incident between an officer and Packers running back A.J. Dillon during Saturday’s soccer match at Lambeau Field, according to TMZ Sports.

An officer was seen grabbing and later pushing Dillon, who was on the field attempting to hype the crowd with a Lambeau Leap during a weather delay.

A spokesperson of the department to TMZ: “The Green Bay Police Department appreciates the perspective and supportive words from Mr. Dillon. The Green Bay Police Department Professional Standards/Internal Affairs Division has initiated a review of this incident.”

Chief Chris Davis of the department later sent this tweet on Monday:

Dillon helped explain the bizarre incident – which was caught on video by several attendants of the event – in a series of tweets. The Packers running back classified the confrontation with the officer as nothing more than a “miscommunication.”

Packers president Mark Murphy called the incident “unfortunate” on Monday.

Saturday’s match between Manchester City and Bayern Munich was the first soccer event at Lambeau Field in the stadium’s history. Man City won the abbreviated contest, 1-0. Two weather delays halted the action.

Dillon is a third-year running back from Boston College who has quickly become a fan favorite in Green Bay. He led the Packers in rushing last season.
