Meet Coach Rusty: One of the world’s best golf trick shot artists

Ryan Rustand, also known as Coach Rusty, on his success in the golf trick shot world.

Ryan Rustand, known as Coach Rusty on social media, has been shaping and creating brilliant trick shots since before he can remember.

Before entering the trick shot world, Rustand had hopes of pursuing a high level golf career. He previously ran junior golf programs in Virginia which is where he picked up his nickname. He moved from Virginia to Florida in hopes to advance his game to the professional level.

As he continued to pursue the sport, golf began to feel like a “grind” to Rustand and he found he was not enjoying the sport as much as he once used to.

“I want to be the guy that feels like he doesn’t work a day in his life because he enjoys what he does so much,” said Rustland. Rustand is currently sitting at 146,000 Instagram followers, 57,300 TikTok followers and 2,450 YouTube subscribers.

At first nobody, including his family, understood what he was doing or what direction he was trying to head in. As his popularity started to grow and he became a golf internet sensation, he began to gain support from his friends and family.

“Having people from all corners of the earth saying they’ve seen me on the internet was when my family realized that it was something they could support and get behind,” said Rustand.

Rustand recently announced he signed a multi-year deal with Cobra and Puma Golf.

You can hear more about Coach Rusty and what he has in store for 2021 on the latest episode of the, “WHY YOU SUCK AT GOLF!” podcast.

Catch This Fade! (Premium) S5E8: Cowboys special teams = trash, my guy

In the latest ep, the guys are fed up with the ST failures. What was supposed to be a strength has submarined Dallas in their two losses.

The Dallas Cowboys returned to the loss column in Week 3 so Patrik Walker(CBS Sports) and  K.D. Drummond (USA Today SMG’s Cowboys Wire) are here just in time to walk everyone through their emotions after the game. The Cowboys are doing a lot of things good, and a lot of things bad, which can lend to mixed feelings about where this team can be headed and where they actually are.

Fades are meant to be given, and give the fades they shall. No one is immune. No one is safe. From the special teams failures, to the defensive breakdowns, K.D. and Pat go through each of the failures, but also take time to recognize the reasons these breakdowns are happening and that it doesn’t have to mean this roller coaster ride will continue throughout the season.

Audio (Patron Tier) | Video (Friend of the Show Tier)

No one covers the Cowboys like we do, and the podcast gives you direct access to the hosts, unfiltered and uncut.

The Lakers amazingly jumped out to a 24-8 lead on Kobe Bryant Day and fans loved it

Man, what a perfect start for the Lakers.

The Los Angeles Lakers have found a number of great ways to pay tribute to the late Kobe Bryant tonight against the Trail Blazers on a day (8/24) that is officially known Kobe Bryant Day in Los Angeles and Orange County and is celebrated throughout the NBA.

But then once the game began something pretty incredible happened – LeBron James and the Lakers got out to a hot start in Game 4 against Portland and were able to grab a 24-8 lead over Dame Lillard and Co.

I mean, how fitting and awesome was that? Kobe, of course, wore both of those numbers during his legendary career with the Lakers.

Twitter loved the 24-8 start:

The NBA world was rightfully in awe of Luka Doncic and his game-winning buzzer-beater

LUKA!

Luka Doncic had another incredible performance Sunday against the Clippers and he saved his best for last when he drilled a long 3-pointer at the buzzer that gave the Mavs a 135-133 overtime victory that evens the series at 2-2.

Doncic finished 43 points, 17, rebounds, and 13 assists and absolutely carried his team, which was without Kristaps Porzingis, down the stretch of regulation and then in overtime.

The 21 year old, who is playing on a hurt ankle, had ice in his veins on the game-winner as he calmly stepped back and drained the 27-footer that sent his teammates into hysterics.

Check out this shot:

Here’s another view:

That performance put him in an impressive club:

Steph Curry was a virtual fan during Mavs-Clippers and Jeff Van Gundy had jokes about his hair

Steph Curry couldn’t stop laughing at this.

The Golden State Warriors and Steph Curry, sadly, aren’t a part of the NBA playoffs this season but the two-time NBA MVP still made an appearance at the Mavs-Clippers game on Sunday.

Curry was seen as one of the virtual fans as he was cheering on his younger brother Seth, who is a member of the Mavs.

Steph’s new hairdo stole the show at Thursday’s NBA Draft Lottery and he’s still going with the cornrows. Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson had some fun with Steph’s new look and Curry could only laugh as the announcers broke him down a bit:

Too good.

The Curry family were all “at” the game, too:

The Mavs need a win Sunday to pull even with the Clippers in their first-round series.

Jayson Tatum paid a sweet tribute to Kobe Bryant while closing out the Sixers

The purple wristband was such a sweet touch.

Boston Celtics guard Jayson Tatum, like many of us, grew up idolizing the great Kobe Bryant. On Sunday, he went out and put in a performance that the late Kobe would have loved and Tatum did it while paying a sweet tribute to his hero.

Tatum, who worked out with Kobe after his rookie year and became good friends with him, wore a purple wristband on Sunday, which would have been Kobe’s 42nd birthday.

Tatum had 28 points in Sunday’s Game 4 win over the Sixers which gave Boston the sweep and pushed it into the second round of the playoffs.

This purple wristband was a great tribute to Kobe:

He also wore a Kobe shirt to the game:

It’s still hard to believe that Kobe isn’t with us anymore but these gestures by Tatum were very sweet.

NBA fans had lots of jokes about Steph Curry’s new look at the NBA Draft Lottery

Steph Curry’s hair stole the show.

The NBA Draft Lottery was held on Thursday night and while the Minnesota Timberwolves won the thing and will get the No. 1 pick, there was another big winner on the night – Steph Curry’s new hairdo.

Curry, whose Golden State Warriors got the No. 2 pick in the draft, was the team’s representative and he surprised just about everyone watching on TV by showing up with some cornrows.

While others debate about whether or not Damian Lillard has more range than Steph Curry, there is no debate here – Curry’s new look stole the show Thursday night on ESPN.

And lots of NBA fans had jokes:

MLB is a bunch of cowards for not letting Trevor Bauer wear his ‘Free Joe Kelly’ cleats

MLB continues to hate fun.

Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Trevor Bauer had a fun idea on Wednesday and since he plays in Major League Baseball, a league that is generally anti-fun, he wasn’t allowed to wear a pair of cleats that said “Free Joe Kelly” on them or he would face some strict punishments.

Apparently wearing those cleats is worse than cheating your way to a World Series, which the Astros did in 2017 but then didn’t have any of their players punished at all.

MLB is allowing players to put whatever they want on their cleats this season as long as its not offensive or political.

Bauer wanted to wear his cleats in tribute to Dodgers pitcher Joe Kelly, who was suspended for throwing at the Astros earlier this year.

But apparently that was deemed to be very bad by MLB and not allowed. The league, according to Bauer and ESPN, threatened to eject him from the game if he wore them.

Bauer provided details after the game:

Typical MLB, which is led by the worst commissioner in sports.

Here’s what the cleats would have looked like:

Proceeds made from the cleats were going to go to Kelly’s favorite charity so hopefully MLB will just donate a bunch of money to make up for it’s lameness.

The Sneak, a serialized podcast which tells true crime stories from inside and around the world of sports, is back for its second season.

The Sneak, a serialized podcast from FTW and USA TODAY which tells true crime stories from inside and around the world of sports, is back for its second season.

This season we will tell the story of Jack Roland Murphy, AKA Murf the Surf, a national surfing champion who would become internationally famous when he robbed New York Museum of Natural History of a priceless jewel collection.

But that was just the beginning of his story. To tell it fully, you must also travel to the waters of Whiskey Creek, a small river in Florida where, over 50 years ago, the bodies of two young women were found shot, bludgeoned, and stabbed, weighed down by concrete blocks, which was connected to wire that was lashed around their necks.

And the last time they were seen alive, they were getting in a boat with Jack Roland Murphy.

Listen to the sneak peek below via Spotify, or subscribe on Apple Podcasts. You can also listen to the entire second season right now, ad free, via Wondery Plus.

Joe Rogan’s podcast goes exclusive to Spotify in a reported $100m deal

Joe Rogan inks reported massive deal as Spotify looks to strongly enter the podcast space.

The Joe Rogan Experience is heading to Spotify in an exclusive deal.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the deal is worth more than $100 million. Rogan’s podcast will stream exclusively on the Spotify platform as part of the multi-year deal.

According to TechCrunch, the show will debut on Spotify on September 1, then go exclusive to the platform later in the year.

The Joe Rogan Experience has continually dominated podcast charts for years, and has found equal footing on YouTube, where Rogan has over 8 million subscribers.

A former Fear Factor host, Rogan is a comedian and UFC commentator who has built a massive following for his podcast, which features lengthy interviews with people of note from all walks of life. It can venture into politics (not super adeptly, but there it goes all the same) but tends to stick with in-depth conversations about life, success, manhood, etc.

This is just the most recent of Spotify’s big plays to get into the podcasting space. The company acquired sports and pop culture website The Ringer, which was founded by Bill Simmons, and in doing so acquired Simmons’ podcast, as well as other podcasts started by the outlet. It also recently acquired the podcast giant Gimlet.
