Nosebleed Seats Podcast: Cowboys fans feel assaulted by lack of FA moves

Free agency is underway, but someone might want to alert the Cowboys front office.

Should fans of the Dallas Cowboys be upset that the club, despite creating a fair amount of salary cap space, have not been players in the early throes of free agency? On Tuesday’s Nosebleed Seats show on 105.3 The Fan, we discussed the team’s philosophy over the tampering portion of pre-free agency that saw players make their way to new teams across the league, but none to Dallas.

The ones Dallas got to? Not necessarily household names. But free agency is far from over. A discussion on whether or not it’s best to be frugal and never get burned big or to go ham and risk catastrophic results in trying to get glorious victory. Can the defense really improve if the club doesn’t bring in big-name veterans?

Finally, the most important thing that happened on Tuesday was it being National Chip Day. The reigning champ? Tune in.

Cowboys Wire Podcast: Dissecting Dak’s deal, impact on other players

With the Prescott deal in the rearview mirror a look forward to what it means for current players, Cowboys free agency and other QBs.

“Today’s a good day to sign Dak Prescott” finally came true this past week. To most people’s surprise, the Dallas Cowboys were able to work out a deal with Prescott prior to the franchise tag deadline. What are the ways that Prescott was victorious, and what worked well for the club? Just how did the two sides work towards the $126 million guarantee?

The NFL set the salary cap at $182.5 million, so what does that look like for the next week? What is the team’s approach going to be in free agency now that Prescott is secured? How much does Prescott’s deal set the stage for the next wave of quarterbacks to try and negotiate extensions with their teams? Which of Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen and Baker Mayfield will reap the most rewards and how soon will Prescott be back at the negotiating table? All of this and more is covered as I sit and talk with Ryan O’Leary on the latest episode of the Cowboys Wire podcast.

Nosebleed Seats: Jaylon a Cowboys casualty? Best CBs in FA, non-exclusive Dak tag

The Dallas Cowboys have let it be known linebacker Jaylon Smith is likely safe when it comes to their quest to create salary cap space for the 2021. Is it the right move? Is it a permanent stance or can circumstances like a draft haul change their minds after June 1? The Cowboys are in need of a cornerback, desperate need. If they look to free agency who are some of the top names they should target?

If the club can’t reach an agreement with quarterback Dak Prescott in the next few days, would the non-exclusive franchise tag in order to get compensation from another team be the right move? Finally, what’s the best method to get your body clean, soap or wash, rag or loofa? The important questions get answered on my latest appearance on the 105.3 The Fan Nosebleed Seats show. Have a listen.

Meet Coach Rusty: One of the world’s best golf trick shot artists

Ryan Rustand, also known as Coach Rusty, on his success in the golf trick shot world.

Ryan Rustand, known as Coach Rusty on social media, has been shaping and creating brilliant trick shots since before he can remember.

Before entering the trick shot world, Rustand had hopes of pursuing a high level golf career. He previously ran junior golf programs in Virginia which is where he picked up his nickname. He moved from Virginia to Florida in hopes to advance his game to the professional level.

As he continued to pursue the sport, golf began to feel like a “grind” to Rustand and he found he was not enjoying the sport as much as he once used to.

“I want to be the guy that feels like he doesn’t work a day in his life because he enjoys what he does so much,” said Rustland. Rustand is currently sitting at 146,000 Instagram followers, 57,300 TikTok followers and 2,450 YouTube subscribers.

At first nobody, including his family, understood what he was doing or what direction he was trying to head in. As his popularity started to grow and he became a golf internet sensation, he began to gain support from his friends and family.

“Having people from all corners of the earth saying they’ve seen me on the internet was when my family realized that it was something they could support and get behind,” said Rustand.

Rustand recently announced he signed a multi-year deal with Cobra and Puma Golf.

You can hear more about Coach Rusty and what he has in store for 2021 on the latest episode of the, “WHY YOU SUCK AT GOLF!” podcast.

Catch This Fade! (Premium) S5E8: Cowboys special teams = trash, my guy

In the latest ep, the guys are fed up with the ST failures. What was supposed to be a strength has submarined Dallas in their two losses.

The Dallas Cowboys returned to the loss column in Week 3 so Patrik Walker(CBS Sports) and  K.D. Drummond (USA Today SMG’s Cowboys Wire) are here just in time to walk everyone through their emotions after the game. The Cowboys are doing a lot of things good, and a lot of things bad, which can lend to mixed feelings about where this team can be headed and where they actually are.

Fades are meant to be given, and give the fades they shall. No one is immune. No one is safe. From the special teams failures, to the defensive breakdowns, K.D. and Pat go through each of the failures, but also take time to recognize the reasons these breakdowns are happening and that it doesn’t have to mean this roller coaster ride will continue throughout the season.

The Lakers amazingly jumped out to a 24-8 lead on Kobe Bryant Day and fans loved it

Man, what a perfect start for the Lakers.

The Los Angeles Lakers have found a number of great ways to pay tribute to the late Kobe Bryant tonight against the Trail Blazers on a day (8/24) that is officially known Kobe Bryant Day in Los Angeles and Orange County and is celebrated throughout the NBA.

But then once the game began something pretty incredible happened – LeBron James and the Lakers got out to a hot start in Game 4 against Portland and were able to grab a 24-8 lead over Dame Lillard and Co.

I mean, how fitting and awesome was that? Kobe, of course, wore both of those numbers during his legendary career with the Lakers.

Twitter loved the 24-8 start:

The NBA world was rightfully in awe of Luka Doncic and his game-winning buzzer-beater

LUKA!

Luka Doncic had another incredible performance Sunday against the Clippers and he saved his best for last when he drilled a long 3-pointer at the buzzer that gave the Mavs a 135-133 overtime victory that evens the series at 2-2.

Doncic finished 43 points, 17, rebounds, and 13 assists and absolutely carried his team, which was without Kristaps Porzingis, down the stretch of regulation and then in overtime.

The 21 year old, who is playing on a hurt ankle, had ice in his veins on the game-winner as he calmly stepped back and drained the 27-footer that sent his teammates into hysterics.

Check out this shot:

Here’s another view:

That performance put him in an impressive club:

Steph Curry was a virtual fan during Mavs-Clippers and Jeff Van Gundy had jokes about his hair

Steph Curry couldn’t stop laughing at this.

The Golden State Warriors and Steph Curry, sadly, aren’t a part of the NBA playoffs this season but the two-time NBA MVP still made an appearance at the Mavs-Clippers game on Sunday.

Curry was seen as one of the virtual fans as he was cheering on his younger brother Seth, who is a member of the Mavs.

Steph’s new hairdo stole the show at Thursday’s NBA Draft Lottery and he’s still going with the cornrows. Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson had some fun with Steph’s new look and Curry could only laugh as the announcers broke him down a bit:

Too good.

The Curry family were all “at” the game, too:

The Mavs need a win Sunday to pull even with the Clippers in their first-round series.

Jayson Tatum paid a sweet tribute to Kobe Bryant while closing out the Sixers

The purple wristband was such a sweet touch.

Boston Celtics guard Jayson Tatum, like many of us, grew up idolizing the great Kobe Bryant. On Sunday, he went out and put in a performance that the late Kobe would have loved and Tatum did it while paying a sweet tribute to his hero.

Tatum, who worked out with Kobe after his rookie year and became good friends with him, wore a purple wristband on Sunday, which would have been Kobe’s 42nd birthday.

Tatum had 28 points in Sunday’s Game 4 win over the Sixers which gave Boston the sweep and pushed it into the second round of the playoffs.

This purple wristband was a great tribute to Kobe:

He also wore a Kobe shirt to the game:

It’s still hard to believe that Kobe isn’t with us anymore but these gestures by Tatum were very sweet.
