Chiefs’ playoff win vs. Bills was most-watched AFC Championship Game in NFL history

The Kansas City #Chiefs’ playoff win over the Buffalo #Bills was the most-watched AFC Championship Game in NFL history.

According to a report by Sports Business Journal editor Austin Karp, the Kansas City Chiefs’ playoff matchup against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday was the most-watched AFC Championship Game in NFL history.

A whopping 54.7 million viewers tuned in to watch Kansas City take down the Bills to earn their third consecutive Super Bowl appearance, much to the chagrin of a small but vocal contingency of fans who are less than thrilled about the Chiefs’ current run of dominance.

Sunday’s record viewership topped last year’s AFC Championship Game between Kansas City and the Baltimore Ravens, and is second only to the 2012 NFC Championship Game between the New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers.

Though the AFC Championship Game was the crowning achievement of the Chiefs’ 2024 campaign, Kansas City’s highly-anticipated matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX may give fans in Western Missouri even more to cheer about heading into the offseason.

Ian Rapoport says the Broncos aren’t there yet, but they will be

“The Broncos aren’t there yet … I think they will be,” Ian Rapoport said of Denver’s long-term outlook.

In theory, the Denver Broncos were a year early. Although Sean Payton’s hire signaled that the Broncos should head back to playoff contention, typically, you don’t go to the playoffs with a rookie quarterback.

Enter the Broncos and the Washington Commanders. Denver featured rookie quarterback Bo Nix, and the Commanders currently have Jayden Daniels. The Broncos won ten games the hard way, going 10-7 before losing to the Buffalo Bills in the wild-card round of the playoffs.

Although the Broncos showed that a culture change is happening, Ian Rapoport believes that the Broncos aren’t there yet. Speaking with KOA Radio, Rapoport told Broncos Country that the team’s future is bright despite the playoff loss.

“The better team won, and I think that’s okay,” Rapoport said of the Bills game. “The more talented team won … the Broncos aren’t there yet … I think they will be.”

Jayden Daniels had an incredible rookie season with the Washington Commanders but fell just short of leading his team to the Super Bowl after losing to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday.

How much money did Daniels make this season?

Chiefs reveal uniform combination for Super Bowl LIX

See which uniform combination the Kansas City #Chiefs will wear in their matchup against the Philadelphia #Eagles in Super Bowl LIX.

On Tuesday, the Kansas City Chiefs revealed a first look at the uniforms they will wear in Super Bowl LIX, which features an iconic patch to commemorate the team’s third-consecutive appearance in the Big Game.

The selection of Super Bowl uniforms is a time-honored tradition dating back to the first game in 1969.

In their last five appearances, the Chiefs have alternated between home and away uniforms, but being the away team this year, the defending Super Bowl champions will wear their classic white tops and red pants.

Take a look at Kansas City’s uniforms in a post on their official Twitter account:

The uniforms shown in the Chiefs’ tweet are for tight end Travis Kelce, quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and defensive lineman Chris Jones, but fans can get a better look at what their favorite players will be wearing on the team’s Twitter and Instagram accounts.

Expect to see the sharp uniforms on full display when Kansas City takes on the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Xavier Worthy set Chiefs record in outstanding rookie campaign

#Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy set a franchise record during his outstanding rookie campaign in Kansas City.

The Kansas City Chiefs have relied on rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy more than they had planned to when they selected him with the No. 27 pick in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft last April.

Injuries ravaged Kansas City’s depth at the wide receiver position early in the Chiefs’ 2024 campaign, and Worthy was thrown into the fire much earlier than many fans expected him to be.

But, the former Texas Longhorn rose to the occasion and officially broke Kansas City’s franchise record for most touchdowns from scrimmage by a rookie in Chiefs history.

The team commemorated Worthy’s outstanding accomplishment in a post to its official Twitter account:

Though Kansas City has seen veteran wideout Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown take the field in recent weeks after he recovered from an upper-body injury that affected his availability early in the season, Worthy’s role in the Chiefs’ offense won’t soon be supplanted by any of the team’s other pass-catchers.

Art Rooney II says what Steelers fans already knew about the late-season collapse

Art Rooney II admitted the Steelers’ losses to top contenders showed how far they are from competing at the highest level.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a major problem—and it appears the team’s owner has finally acknowledged what fans have known all along.

For years, the organization believed wholeheartedly that mediocrity was acceptable—as long as Mike Tomlin didn’t lead the Pittsburgh Steelers to a losing season. Playoff wins and staying competitive with the top AFC contenders were consistently put on the backburner—until Steelers owner Art Rooney II witnessed the late-season collapse unfold before his very eyes.

Joe Rutter of TribLive reported that Rooney stated that the Pittsburgh Steelers’ losses to the Baltimore Ravens, Philadelphia Eagles, and Kansas City Chiefs—arguably the top three teams in the NFL—proved how far the Steel City was from actual contender status.

Rooney kept it short and sweet, stating:

“We played the best in the league and we could see we’re not there.”

Treating the late-season collapse as a measuring stick works on paper, but the offseason will test his sense of urgency—or lack thereof—in getting the Pittsburgh Steelers back to contender status.
