Phoenix Suns at Philadelphia 76ers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Phoenix Suns at Philadelphia 76ers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Phoenix Suns (43-10) travel to the City of Brotherly Love Tuesday to play the Philadelphia 76ers (32-21). Tip-off at Wells Fargo Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Suns vs. 76ers odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

Phoenix won its second straight game Monday by holding on to beat the Bulls 127-124 in Chicago but failed to cover as a 6.5-point road favorite. The Suns are 6-1 straight up (SU) and 4-3 against the spread (ATS) over the last two weeks.

Philly snapped its two-game losing skid Sunday by also beating the Bulls 119-108 in Chicago as a 4-point road favorite. The Sixers are 5-2 SU and 3-4 ATS in the last 14 days.

The Suns were 2-0 SU and 1-0-1 ATS in their two games with the Sixers last season and the Over has cashed in seven straight Phoenix-Philadelphia meetings.

Suns at 76ers odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Suns 109, 76ers 103

Money line

“LEAN” to the SUNS (+100) for a one-third unit because we are getting late to the party on Phoenix’s money line (ML) and the Under is my favorite wager in this game.

The Suns-76ers game opened with Phoenix as a 2.5-point underdog but the sharps hammered the Suns early, lowering their ML payout and spread.

However, the difference in this game will be Suns PG Chris Paul outmaneuvering his former head coach and current Sixers head coach, Doc Rivers, down the stretch.

The Suns are fourth in defensive rating and the Sixers struggle against tough defenses. Philly is 5-7 SU versus top-10 defenses with a minus-2.2 adjusted net rating and a minus-2.3 ATS margin, according to CleaningTheGlass.com (CTG).

Plus the Suns perform better against quality competition: Phoenix is 10-5 SU versus teams in the top-10 of efficiency differential with a plus-3.4 adjusted net rating (ranked second), per CTG.

The Sixers are 5-8 SU versus top-10 teams with a minus-6.1 adjusted net rating (ranked 19th) and a minus-4.8 ATS margin (ranked 25th). Phoenix is 6-4 ATS on the road versus teams above-.500 and Philly is 4-7 ATS at home versus teams above-.500.

I’d argue all the ATS trends apply since this Suns-76ers meeting is priced as a coin-flip.

Against the spread

PASS.

The Suns +1.5 (-115) doesn’t provide much insurance in case they lose so we might as well stick with Phoenix’s ML.

Over/Under

BET the UNDER 217.5 (-112) for 1 unit for a bunch of trendy reasons and because this is a Pros vs. Joe’s game in the betting market.

Phoenix is 10-16 O/U on the road (minus-3.7 total margin), 3-4 O/U on the second of a back-to-back (minus-2.4 total margin), 7-8 O/U when playing with a rest disadvantage (minus-5.0 total margin), 9-11 O/U versus teams above-.500 and 1-8-1 O/U in the last 10 games as an underdog.

Philly is 9-16 O/U at home, 5-6 O/U when playing with a rest advantage, 8-17 O/U versus teams above-.500 and 1-4 O/U in the last five games as a favorite.

Nearly two-thirds of the bets placed are on the Over but roughly 90% of the cash is on the Under according to pregame.com. It’s typically profitable in sports betting to follow the money when it’s counter to the public.

The UNDER 217.5 (-112) is my favorite wager in this game.

Phoenix Suns at Atlanta Hawks odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Phoenix Suns at Atlanta Hawks odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Phoenix Suns (41-9) travel to the Big Peach Thursday to play the Atlanta Hawks (24-26). The tip-off at State Farm Arena is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Suns vs. Hawks odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

Phoenix has won 11 consecutive games with the latest being a 121-111 home victory over the Brooklyn Nets Tuesday as a 7-point favorite. The Suns have a 3-game cushion on the Golden State Warriors for first place in the West.

A Trae Young-less Atlanta had its 7-game win streak snapped Monday by losing 106-100 to the Toronto Raptors at home as a 2.5-point underdog. The Hawks are 5-1 straight-up (SU) and against the spread (ATS) over the last two weeks.

The Suns won their first meeting with the Hawks 121-117 Nov. 6 as 3.5-point home favorites. Phoenix G Devin Booker scored a game-high 38 points on 14-for-21 shooting (including 55.6% from behind the arc).

Suns at Hawks odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Suns 118, Hawks 109

Money line

PASS ON THE MONEY LINE.

Even though Phoenix is obviously the right side, and 16-2 SU as a road favorite while Atlanta is 1-3 SU as a home underdog, the -180 tag is just too pricey.

Against the spread

BET the SUNS -4.5 (-107) for 1 unit.

Phoenix has edges in the pick-and-roll (PnR), “clutch” situations and this is a better spot for the Suns, especially since they dominate bad defenses.

Both teams run a ton of PnR action through their All-Star point guards but I’ll literally take Suns’ Chris Paul over any other point guard in NBA history in a PnR battle. Phoenix also has better offensive efficiency than Atlanta in PnR action through the ball handler.

The Hawks are 27th in defensive rating and the Suns beat up on bad defenses. Phoenix is 15-2 SU versus bottom-10 defenses with the best adjusted net rating (plus-13.8) and the second-best ATS margin (plus-5.3), according to CleaningTheGlass.com (CTG).

The Suns will also blow past the Hawks if this game is close late. Phoenix is 20-3 SU in the “clutch” with the best net rating (plus-45.1) whereas Atlanta is 9-13 SU with the second-worst net rating (minus-21.2). “Clutch” is defined by games within a 5-point margin with five minutes remaining.

Finally, the Suns are 12-3 ATS as a road favorite with a plus-6.2 ATS margin and 6-3 ATS on the road versus teams with a winning record whereas the Hawks are 1-3 ATS as a home underdog with a minus-4.1 ATS margin.

BET 1 unit on the SUNS -4.5 (-107).

Over/Under

PASS ON THE TOTAL.

For what it’s worth, I “lean” towards the Over 226.5 (-108) because the Over has cashed in five straight Suns-Hawks meetings and Atlanta is 4-0 O/U in its last four home games versus a team with a winning record.

However, I’m staying away because we’d be getting to the party late since the Suns-Hawks total has been steamed up from the 224.5-point opener.

Minnesota Timberwolves at Phoenix Suns odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Minnesota Timberwolves at Phoenix Suns odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Phoenix Suns (38-9) host the Minnesota Timberwolves (24-24) Friday at the Footprint Center for a 9 p.m. ET tip-off. Below, we look at the Timberwolves vs. Suns odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

Minnesota is playing its second game in as many nights. The Timberwolves lost 124-115 at the Golden State Warriors as 6.5-point road underdogs Thursday. Since Jan. 16, the T-Wolves are 4-2 straight-up (SU) and 2-4 against the spread (ATS).

Phoenix is on an 8-game winning streak (5-3 ATS), which includes back-to-back victories in a home-and-away series with the Utah Jazz Monday and Wednesday.

The Suns (-4) eked past the T-Wolves 99-96, but failed to cover as road favorites in their first meeting Nov. 15.

Timberwolves at Suns odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Suns 118, Timberwolves 114

Money line

PASS with a heavy “lean” toward the Timberwolves (+300). I like Minnesota plus the points and generally will sprinkle on an underdog’s money line when betting them to cover the spread.

Against the spread

BET TIMBERWOLVES +7.5 (-107) for 1 unit.

The Suns -8.5 are without two bigs in starter Ayton and backup McGee, so expect a big game for Minnesota C Karl-Anthony Towns against Phoenix C Bismack Biyombo, who just signed with the club this January.

KAT was sensational in Minnesota’s loss to Phoenix earlier this season, scoring 35 points on 10-for-19 shooting with 13 rebounds against a fully loaded Suns squad.

The reason Phoenix won outright was that T-Wolves SF Anthony Edwards had an uncharacteristically bad night. He scored just 9 points on 2-for-11 shooting and committed 6 turnovers.

However, Edwards has been ballin’ lately, averaging 23.9 points on 61.2% true shooting (.474/.388/.836) with a 117 offensive rating in January.

Edwards loves to attack the rim and paint. Phoenix’s only good rim protector is McGee. Opponents shoot 2.2% better at the rim when Biyombo is on the floor.

Finally, there’s a line freeze in the betting market since a vast majority of the action is on the Suns, according to Pregame.com and the Yahoo! Sports app. Phoenix opened as a 9-point favorite and it’s a red flag whenever sportsbooks make the more popular side cheaper.

BET the TIMBERWOLVES +7.5 (-107) for 1 unit.

Over/Under

SLIGHT LEAN to the OVER 230.5 (-112) for a small wager if at all, because I prefer the Minnesota side more than the total.

Over the past two weeks, the T-Wolves are fifth in adjusted-offensive rating and the Suns are second. Also, both teams play at a top-eight pace.

Phoenix Suns at Utah Jazz odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Phoenix Suns at Utah Jazz odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The first-and second-best teams by net rating meet Wednesday when the Phoenix Suns (37-9) visit the Utah Jazz (30-18) for the second of their home-and-away back-to-back. The tip-off at Vivint Smart Home Arena is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Suns vs. Jazz odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

Phoenix beat a depleted Utah team, 115-109, Monday in the first of this back-to-back, but the Suns failed to cover as 12-point home favorites. The Jazz were without all five starters Monday.

The Suns have won seven straight games and have covered the spread in four of those contests. The Jazz have lost eight of their last 10 games and are 2-7-1 against the spread (ATS) over that span.

Suns at Jazz odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Suns 115, Jazz 109

Money line

BET the SUNS (-130) for 1 unit even though there has been a sharp line move toward the Jazz (+105) since Phoenix was a -180 money line (ML) favorite on the look-ahead line, according to Pregame.com.

I’d anticipate this line movement is due to Phoenix being without its starting and backup bigs and Utah PG Mike Conley being active for this game whereas he missed Monday’s Suns-Jazz meeting.

However, Suns floor general Chris Paul said a couple of things in his on-court postgame interview following Monday’s Suns-Jazz game, which gives me confidence in Phoenix despite the scary reverse line movement.

CP3 pointed out that he needed to be more aggressive versus Utah because the Jazz are playing drop coverage without Gobert on the floor when Phoenix runs it’s pick-and-roll (PnR) action.

Also, CP3 mentioned how impressed he was with recent signee big Bismack Biyombo‘s hustle and screen-setting skills. Biyombo has given the Suns good minutes and has a plus-12.4 adjusted on/off net rating, which grades in the 94th percentile for bigs, according to CleaningTheGlass.com (CTG).

Lastly, I’d expect the Suns to pick up the pace since they play awesome fast-break basketball and are missing a couple of bigs.

For instance, Phoenix plays the 10th-highest frequency of transition offense and has the third-best fast-break offensive efficiency. This is an area of weakness for the Jazz, who have the third-worst defensive efficiency in transition.

BET the SUNS (-130).

Against the spread

PASS since Phoenix’s ML is only 15 cents on the dollar more expensive than the Suns -1.5 (-115). For what’s it worth, I’d bet Phoenix’s spread up to -3.5 and the Suns 12-6 ATS as a road underdog and the Jazz are 8-16 ATS at home.

Over/Under

Slight “LEAN” to the OVER 223.5 (-107) for a small wager, if at all, because of Phoenix’s aforementioned offensive edges over Utah.

I gave out the Over in Monday’s Suns-Jazz game, but that only cashed because Utah’s backups were 45.2% from behind the arc, and I don’t know how sustainable that is.

Plus a majority of the market is taking the Over in this spot as well, and I hate following a crowd in sports betting.

Utah Jazz at Phoenix Suns odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Utah Jazz at Phoenix Suns odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Phoenix Suns (36-9) host the first of a home-and-away back-to-back set with the Utah Jazz (30-17) Monday at Footprint Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Jazz vs. Suns odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

Utah lost for the third time in its last four games Sunday when it fell 94-92 at the Golden State Warriors and pushed as a 2-point road underdog. The Jazz are 20-25-2 against the spread (ATS) and 23-23-1 Over/Under (O/U).

The Suns won their sixth consecutive game Saturday by beating the Indiana Pacers 113-103 in Phoenix but failed to cover as a 13.5-point home favorite. The Suns are 25-20 ATS and 19-25-1 O/U.

Phoenix won and covered in all three meetings last regular season with Utah and the total was 2-1 O/U in those games.

Jazz at Suns odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Suns 115, Jazz 111

Money line

PASS with a heavy “lean” towards the Jazz (+370) since I “lean” to Utah getting the points in this spot and generally will sprinkle on an underdog’s money line when betting them to cover.

However, this pricing suggests the oddsmakers think the Jazz could be without several key contributors. Mitchell missed Utah’s game Sunday against Golden State and Gobert was listed as questionable but ended up playing roughly 36 minutes versus the Warriors.

Against the spread

“LEAN” to the JAZZ +9.5 (-122) since I’d prefer to wait closer to tip-off to see each team’s official starting 5, even if that means I got a worse price on Utah.

But, the Suns are mispriced. I see more value in fading Phoenix than following it because the Suns could be without two starters and don’t perform very well in this spot.

Phoenix is 1-6 ATS at home versus teams with a winning record and has a minus-7.7 ATS margin at home versus teams in the top-10 of adjusted net rating, according to CleaningTheGlass.com (CTG).

While the Jazz are third in adjusted net rating (plus-6.4) and eighth in ATS margin (plus-3.8) against top-10 teams, per CTG.

“LEAN” to the JAZZ +9.5 (-122) that would be upgraded to a “like” if Utah gets some good injury news before tip-off.

Over/Under

BET the OVER 220.5 (-112) for 1 unit because it’ll probably be the least wagered side of the whole Jazz-Suns meeting and that’s typically where you find profit in sports betting.

A vast majority of the market is hammering the Under for all the obvious reasons according to Pregame.com. Utah has gone Under the total in four straight, Phoenix is 1-5 O/U in its last six games and both teams could be missing offensive firepower.

However, both teams have offensive edges they can exploit in this matchup. Phoenix likes to push the pace and get out in transition but Utah has the second-worst defensive efficiency versus fastbreak offense.

Also, the Jazz are an elite offensive rebounding team and are very efficient in pick-and-roll (PnR) action through the roll-man. Well, the Suns are 24th in second-chance points per game allowed and have the second-worst defensive efficiency versus the roll-man in PnR action.

The OVER 220.5 (-112) is my favorite wager in this game.
