Season series: First meeting; split 1-1 last season

The Knicks have won 3 straight games and open a 5-game road trip Wednesday. They are coming off a 134-106 win as 14.5-point home favorites vs. the Washington Wizards Monday with the Over (233) cashing.

The Suns have been reeling without F Kevin Durant (calf) and G Bradley Beal (calf). They have lost 4 games in a row after a 9-2 start to the season. Their most recent game was a 109-99 home loss as 4.5-point underdogs vs. the Orlando Magic Monday while the Under (212) hit.

Knicks at Suns picks and predictions

Prediction

Knicks 112, Suns 104

Moneyline

The Suns have struggled without 2 of their 3 stars, and if Nurkic is out, as well, G Devin Booker will be their only reliable offensive threat. They have averaged 100.8 points in their 4-game skid, being held under 105 three times and under 100 twice.

The Knicks have scored 114 or more points in 4 straight games.

The Suns will continue their slide without Beal and Durant, but the -210 odds make the moneyline not worth the action unless it is part of a parlay.

PASS.

Against the spread

Seven of the Knicks’ 8 wins this season have been by more than 5 points.

Of the Suns’ 5 losses in the last 6 games, 4 have been by more than 5 points.

BET KNICKS -4.5 (-115).

Over/Under

Three of the last 4 for the Knicks have surpassed the projected total for this matchup.

However, with the Suns struggling to score points, and since their opponents have scored 116 or fewer in 7 of the last 10 games, it’s going to be hard to get to 223.

BET UNDER 223.5 (-105).

The Phoenix Suns (9-5) welcome the Orlando Magic (8-6) to Footprint Center Monday. Tip is set for 9 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Magic vs. Suns odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; tied 1-1 last season

The Magic beat the Philadelphia 76ers 98-86 Friday, closing as a 2.5-point home underdog. They were led by F Franz Wagner, who scored a game-high 31 points on 10-of-23 shooting. Orlando has rattled off 5 straight wins going 5-0 against the spread (ATS). This streak follows a 5-game losing streak.

The Suns lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves 120-117 Sunday as a 7.5-point road underdog. They were without 2 of their 3 stars and were led by G Devin Booker, who put up a game-high 44 points. Phoenix has lost 3 in a row yet is 8-4 straight up over its last 12. It is 5-9 ATS on the season.

Magic at Suns picks and predictions

Prediction

Suns 101, Magic 96

Moneyline

PASS.

While the moneyline for both sides is playable, the Magic haven’t performed well on the road, so they aren’t worth a play as a moderate favorite. Similarly, the Suns are better played on the spread.

Against the spread

BET SUNS +1.5 (-110).

The Magic are riding a 5-game win streak, but all 5 wins were at home. They are 1-6 ATS and 1-6 straight up on the road. Orlando has lost to playoff contenders like the Cleveland Cavaliers and non-contenders like the Chicago Bulls.

The Suns have won 5 of their last 6 at home. Without 2 of their stars, they are getting a playable value here. Phoenix has scored at least 114 points in six of its last 8 games, so it has the firepower to score on a stiff Orlando defense. With that in mind, back SUNS -1.5 (-110).

Over/Under

BET UNDER 209.5 (-110).

The Suns are 4-2 O/U in their last 6 games. They are without 2 top scoreers and will be playing one of the best defenses in the NBA. Orlando has held its opponents to under 100 in 5 straight games.

The Magic are averaging 96 points per game over their last 2 games and have gone under 100 in 4 of their last 8 games. Considering those trends, back UNDER 209.5 (-110).

Phoenix Suns at Minnesota Timberwolves odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Phoenix Suns at Minnesota Timberwolves odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Phoenix Suns (9-4) visit to the Minnesota Timberwolves (7-6) Sunday. Tip-off from Target Center is set for 3:30 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Suns vs. Timberwolves odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Phoenix won 3-0 last season

Phoenix lost 99-83 to the Oklahoma City Thunder Friday while failing to cover as a 7.5-point underdog. The Suns’ offense was abysmal without superstar F Kevin Durant as Phoenix was held to just 29.3% shooting from the field and 24.3% shooting from 3-point range. G Devin Booker failed to step up in the loss, shooting 2-of-10 from the field while finishing with just 12 points and a -29 in the +/-.

Minnesota escaped with a 130-126 OT win over the Sacramento Kings Friday while covering as a 1.5-point favorite. G Anthony Edwards and F  Julius Randle combined for 62 points, just enough to outshine Sacramento G De’Aaron Fox and his historic 60-point night. The win ended a 3-game skid for the T-wolves.

Suns at Timberwolves picks and predictions

Prediction

Timberwolves 115, Suns 107

Moneyline

PASS.

Injuries have dismantled this Phoenix team and makes picking the Timberwolves to cover as -275 favorites an easy decision, but Minnesota is  favored far too heavily favored to risk betting on. Despite Phoenix’s injuries, the risk here is not worth the reward, so pass here and bet on the spread and/or totlal instead.

Against the spread

BET TIMBERWOLVES -7.5 (-110).

Minnesota has covered the spread in 4 of its last 7 games. Phoenix is 1-3 ATS in its last 4 games, 3-7 ATS in its last 10 and 4-9 ATS for the season.

With Phoenix’s vast array of injuries, Minnesota covering here is a solid bet. Be aware that Minnesota is only 5-8 ATS this season.

Also be weary of the possibility that the positional matchup against Edwards combined with his terrible performance vs. OKC could motivate Booker  enough for the Suns to keep this game close.

Over/Under

BET OVER 220.5 (-110).

The Over is 2-1 in Minnesota’s last 3 overall and is 3-1 in the Suns’ last 4. The Over is also 8-5 for both teams this season.

The Over has hit in back-to-back matchups between these squads and is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.

Be aware that this bet is slightly risky as both teams are mediocre offensively and as Phoenix’s injuries are hurting its offensive firepower.

Phoenix Suns at Oklahoma City Thunder odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Phoenix Suns at Oklahoma City Thunder odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Phoenix Suns (9-3) take on the Oklahoma City Thunder (10-2) Friday in NBA Cup group play at Paycom Center. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Suns vs. Thunder odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; OKC swept 3-0 last year

The Suns limp into town after a road loss to the Sacramento Kings Wednesday 127-104 as 8-point dogs. They’re without F Kevin Durant (calf) for at least 2 weeks and G Bradley Beal (calf) again Friday. G Devin Booker had 18 points on 6-for-16 shooting from the floor.

The Thunder won their second straight Wednesday with a 106-88 cover as 14.5-point faves against the New Orleans Pelicans. G Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 29 points, 5 boards and 5 dimes. He was 3-for-7 from downtown. C Jalen Williams actually led the way with 31 points and posted 6 boards, 7 assists and 4 steals.

Suns at Thunder picks and predictions

Prediction

Thunder 110, Suns 102

Moneyline

Pay no attention to the ML and go straight to SHAI GILGEOUS-ALEXANDER OVER 1.5 3-POINTERS (-135). SGA is 7-for-15 (46.7%) from beyond the 3-point line the last 2 games.

Against the spread

I really don’t like this number, but if I am forced to pick one, I’m siding with THUNDER -7.5 (-115). OKC is so hot-and-cold right now without Holmgren patrolling the paint. It gave up just 88 last game but allowed the LA Clippers and Golden State Warriors to drop 128 and 127. It has to keep Phoenix right around 100 to cash this, and that’s where I lean, but I would much rather take it at 6.5 in a live bet.

Over/Under

Phoenix has gone Over in 3 straight because the Suns can’t defend. However, OKC is missing key parts that make it a reach to go much north of 110. The Under cashed in 2 of the 3 meetings last season, and both were in Phoenix.

Take the UNDER 227.5 (-115).

The Phoenix Suns (9-2) visit the Sacramento Kings (6-5) Wednesday. Tip-off from Golden 1 Center is set for 10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Suns vs. Kings odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Sacramento leads 1-0

Phoenix beat the Utah Jazz 120-112 Tuesday, covering as a 5.5-point road favorite. G Devin Booker stepped up with 31 points in the absence of F Kevin Durant (calf), while G Bradley Beal chipped in with 24.

Sacramento was blown out 116-96 at the Spurs Monday as a 2.5-point favorite. The Kings shot only 26.3% from deep while allowing the Spurs to shoot 47.8% from beyond the arc. The Kings have lost 2 of their last 3 games.

Suns at Kings picks and predictions

Prediction

Kings 119, Suns 113

Moneyline

PASS.

I like Sacramento to get the win here with Durant out for Phoenix, but the Kings are not worth the risk of betting on as -300 favorites, especially when the Suns still have 2 All-Star talents in Beal and Booker.

Against the spread

LEAN SUNS +7.5 (-110).

Phoenix has covered 2 of its last 3 games and is 3-0 ATS in it last 3 on the road. The Kings, meanwhile, have dropped 2 of their last 3 ATS.

By the numbers, these teams are very similar on both sides of the ball, so this should be a close game no matter what.

This is a lean because Phoenix is missing its best player and the Kings are 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings.

Over/Under

BET OVER 225.5 (-110).

The Over has hit in back-to-back games for Phoenix and is 4-1 in the Suns’ last 5. For Phoenix, the Over is 7-4 this season. The Over has also hit in 2 of the last 3 meetings.

There is some risk with this bet, as Phoenix’s offense is bound to be worse with Durant out.

The Phoenix Suns (8-2) open a 4-game road trip on Tuesday facing the Utah Jazz (2-7) as group play begins for the 2024 NBA Cup. Tip-off from Delta Center is at 9 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Suns vs. Jazz odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting, Suns won 4-0 last season

The Suns had a 7-game winning streak snapped at home on Sunday in a 127-118 loss to the Sacramento Kings as 1-point underdogs.

The Jazz have won 2 of 3 since starting the season 0-6. They are coming off a 111-110 road win over the San Antonio Spurs as 6.5-point underdogs.

Suns at Jazz picks and predictions

Prediction

Suns 124, Jazz 115

Moneyline

The Jazz are winless at home. The Suns are 3-1 on the road.

The Jazz have allowed 123 or more points in 3 of their last 4 games.

The Suns scored 118 in a loss without Durant, so scoring is not the issue. They have allowed 112.7 points per game this season, 17th in the league.

The Suns have 6 straight wins over the Jazz. The streak should continue, but don’t bet them at -165 when you can get better odds with the spread.

PASS.

Against the spread

The Jazz’ last 6 losses have been by at least 6 points.

Only 4 of the Suns’ 8 wins have been by more than 3 points, but this matchup gives them the opportunity to win without it becoming a 1-possession game down the stretch.

BET SUNS -2.5 (-125).

Over/Under

Both teams have had 2 of their last 4 games surpass the projected total for this matchup.

Utah opponents have scored 123 points or more in 3 of the last 4 games and the Suns can score points, having put up 118 in a loss to the Kings without Durant.

BET OVER 227.5 (-115).

Phoenix Suns at Dallas Mavericks odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Phoenix Suns at Dallas Mavericks odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Dallas Mavericks (5-3) welcome the Phoenix Suns (7-1) to American Airlines Center Friday. Tip is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Suns vs. Mavericks odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Suns lead 1-0

The Suns have won 6 straight games since losing in their second game of the season to the Los Angeles Lakers. Phoenix is coming off a 115-112 home victory over the Miami Heat Wednesday. While it has won consistently, it  hasn’t covered consistently and is just 2-6 against the spread (ATS) and 0-3 ATS in the last 3. The Suns are averaging 114 points per game during the win streak. Phoenix is led by F Kevin Durant (27.8 points per gaame) and G Devin Booker (24.4 PPG).

The Mavericks throttled the Chicago Bulls 119-99 Wednesday, closing as a 10-point home favorite. They have won 3 of their last 5, alternating winning and losing over those 5. Dallas is 4-4 ATS on the season and 3-3 ATS at home. It averages 113 PPG on the season, but has averaged 123 points in its last 2 games. The Mavericks are led by MVP candidate G Luka Doncic, who is averaging 28.6 points, 8.1 rebounds and 8.1 assists per game.

Suns at Mavericks picks and predictions

Prediction

Suns 115, Mavericks 112

Moneyline

BET SUNS (+135).

Phoenix has won 6 games in a row and beat the Mavericks at home by 12 earlier in the season. It matches up well with Doncic and company because of the length of Durant and F Royce O’Neale. The Suns have beaten quality teams over the last few weeks like the Heat and Lakers. They are 2-1 on the road as well.

The Mavericks might by 5-3, but they have been inconsistent over their last few games. Dallas is 1-3 straight up after a win. While it is 4-2 at home, it has lost to the Houston Rockets and Indiana Pacers at home in the last 10 days. The Mavericks are also more inefficient with 2 of their top 3 scoring weapons shooting 45% or worse from the field.

With those trends in mind, back SUNS (+135).

Against the spread

PASS.

Avoid this play. The Suns are acceptable as a road underdog play, but the value is far better for them to win outright. Similarly, the Mavericks have came up short after too many wins to take here.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 230.5 (-110).

The Mavericks have gone Under in 3 of their 4 games and have allowed 99 or fewer points in 2 of their last 3, so they have a capable defense. Dallas does sit 11th in the league in pace, but ranks third in defensive rating, so despite a faster-than-usual pace, it has thrived defensively.

Phoenix doesn’t play at an overly fast pace, ranking 16th in the league. It has allowed 112 or fewer points in 4 of its last 6 games and 105 of fewer points in 3 of its last 6. The Suns have scored under 115 points in 4 of its last 6 games. Considering those trends, back UNDER 230.5 (-110).

The Suns enter with a 5-game winning streak. They beat the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday at home 118-116, but did not cover the 7-point spread as favorites. F Kevin Durant scored 35 points and broke a 116-116 tie with a layup with 24 seconds left.

Heat at Suns picks and predictions

Prediction

Suns 109, Heat 106

Moneyline

The Suns are healthy and undefeated at home. The Heat have won their only road game and are 2-0 away from home (they beat Washington on a neutral court in Mexico City).

The Heat have not lost consecutive games this season, but the Suns are both rolling and clutch, as they have had close games in all but 1 this season.

The Suns should pick up the home win, but don’t bet the ML at -225, as there isn’t enough value to make that bet, unless it is part of a parlay bet.

PASS.

Against the spread

The Suns have been living in close games. Three of their 6 wins have been by 3 points or less and 2 were by 6 points. They are 2-5 ATS overall on the season.

The Heat are 1-3 ATS in their last 4 games, but are 2-0 ATS in their 2 games away from home.

BET HEAT +5.5 (-110).

Over/Under

Five of the Heat’s 6 games this season have not had totals above the projection for this game.

The Suns have had 3 games not reach 221 total points. The Over and Under have alternated the last 4 games and their win over Philly had the Over cash in.

BET UNDER 220.5 (-105).

76ers at Suns picks and predictions

Prediction

Suns 115, 76ers 105

Moneyline

The Suns (-300) have not lost this season at home, and the 76ers come in struggling and shorthanded.

The Suns are almost completely at full strength and playing very well right now.

Last season, the home team won both meetings.

The Suns should win this game, but you should not bet the ML unless it is part of a parlay.

PASS.

Against the spread

The Sixers have failed to cover the spread in every loss this season. All 4 of their losses have been by 8 or more points.

The Suns are 2-4 ATS. They’re 2-0 ATS in their last 2 games immediately following an ATS loss as favorites.

BET SUNS -7.5 (-105).

Over/Under

Only 1 of the Suns’ last 4 games has had a total higher than Monday’s projection.

Outside of their 1 win, the Sixers’ highest-scoring game has been 109 points, and they’re averaging 104.5 per game in losses.

The Suns have scored 116 or fewer points in 5 of their 6 games.

BET UNDER 225.5 (-105).

Trail Blazers at Suns picks and predictions

Prediction

Suns 122, Trail Blazers 108

Moneyline

The Suns are 2-0 at home so far this season and have faced only expected playoff contenders in both L.A. teams and Dallas.

They have beaten the Blazers in 3 straight meetings in Phoenix and in 7 of the last 10 overall.

Expect a Suns win, but stay away from the -900 odds unless it is part of a parlay bet.

PASS.

Against the spread

Three of the Blazers’ 4 losses have been by at least 13 points.

The Suns’ largest margin of victory so far was 12 points but was against Dallas.

Four of the last 5 wins for the Suns over Portland have been by 13 or more points.

BET SUNS -12.5 (-115).

Over/Under

Three of the Blazers’ 6 games this season have surpassed the projected total for tonight’s game.

Three of the Suns’ 5 games this season have also surpassed the projected total for this game.

Their last matchup last season finished with 243 points.

BET OVER 224.5 (-115).
