Edmonton Oilers at Philadelphia Flyers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Tuesday’s Edmonton Oilers at Philadelphia Flyers odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Edmonton Oilers (29-21-3) travel to meet the Philadelphia Flyers (16-26-10) Tuesday at Wells Fargo Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we look at the Oilers vs. Flyers odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Oilers are coming off a tough 2-1 loss at the Carolina Panthers Sunday, but they have been playing better since Jay Woodcroft took over for Dave Tippett behind the bench. They’re 6-4 in the last 10 games and are within striking distance of a playoff spot.

Things haven’t been as rosy for the Flyers, who are last place in the Metropolitan division. They snapped a six-game losing skid with a 2-1 victory against the Washington Capitals Saturday.

Oilers at Flyers odds, spread and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 9:45 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Oilers -175 (bet $175 to win $100) | Flyers +140 (bet $100 to win $140)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Oilers -1.5 (+140) | Flyers +1.5 (-180)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 6.5 (O: +100 | U: -125)

Oilers at Flyers projected goalies

Mike Smith (5-7-1, 3.53 GAA, .893 SV%) vs. Carter Hart (10-16-6, 2.90 GAA, .911 SV%, 1 SO)

Smith has seesawed between three-game win streaks and long losing skids this season and has lost three in a row entering this contest. He was solid in February with a 3-5-0 record, a 3.35 GAA and an .889 SV%. He’s going to need his offense to continue rolling to start another win streak here.

Hart was great against the Caps, stopping 27 of 28 shots in the 2-1 victory. It was his first game after missing a week due to an eye infection. He was touched up for 5 goals in two of his five February starts, but performed well in the other three outings.

Oilers at Flyers odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Oilers 4, Flyers 1

Money line

The OILERS (-175) have one win in their last four games, but they’re 4-0-0 in the last four games they were favored. The Oilers are also 4-0-0 against teams with a losing record. They’ll continue those trends here.

Against the spread

The OILERS -1.5 (+140) have dispatched opponents by more than one goal in five of their last six wins. They’re the ninth-ranked offense in the NHL, and Philly’s defense is 25th. With an offense led by C Connor McDavid, who leads the league with 75 points, and LW Leon Draisaitl, who is second in the league with 36 goals, this offense is smashing spreads.

Over/Under

We’re looking at a slight lean to the UNDER 6.5 (-125) here. The Oilers have scored 3.8 goals per game over the last 10, but the Flyers have netted only 2.9 across the same span.

Philadelphia is just 1-3-0 with 9 goals scored in their last four home games and it just can’t be depended on to cover its end here. If the line drops to 5.5, though, avoid it altogether.

St. Louis Blues at Philadelphia Flyers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Tuesday’s St. Louis Blues at Philadelphia Flyers odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The St. Louis Blues (29-14-6) travel to face the Philadelphia Flyers (15-25-10) Tuesday at Wells Fargo Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we look at the Blues vs. Flyers odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Flyers enter the game on the back end of a back-to-back, while the Blues have been off since upsetting the Toronto Maple Leafs 6-3 on the road Saturday.

St. Louis shook off a couple of disappointing losses to the Montreal Canadiens and New Jersey Devils to upend the Leafs. A Blues player from all four lines scored in the game as they showcased their offense against a quality team.

The Flyers fell 4-3 in overtime to the Carolina Hurricanes Monday. Philly scratched and clawed to get back into the game after C Zack MacEwen‘s third-period fight rallied the troops. The Flyers tied it at 3-3 shortly after to force OT, but ultimately succumbed to the Hurricanes’ pressure.

Blues at Flyers projected goalies

Jordan Binnington (11-10-3, 3.35 GAA, .898 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Martin Jones (6-9-3, 3.59 GAA, .897 SV%)

It has been a strange, rough season for Binnington, who is now clearly behind G Ville Husso on the depth chart. This is a soft landing spot for him after allowing 18 goals in his last three starts. Look for him to come out focused to make a statement.

G Carter Hart (eye) was out Monday due to an eye infection, and Jones did what he could against Carolina as he turned away 27 of 31 shots. If Hart is unable to go again tonight, Jones could be in for another barrage. Jones has allowed 22 goals in his last six appearances.

Blues at Flyers odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Blues 5, Flyers 3

Money line

The Blues (-230) are too expensive for my blood in this road game. Let’s look to the puck line for a much better value. PASS

Against the spread

The BLUES -1.5 (+110) are flying high after netting 6 goals on Maple Leafs All-Star tendy Jack Campbell. All six of their wins in the last 10 games have been by 2 or more goals.

St. Louis is also expected to have star winger Vladimir Tarasenko back tonight after he missed one game with an undisclosed injury.  The Blues are rested and should fly out of the chute against a possibly flat Flyers team that played Monday.

Over/Under

OVER 6.5 (+112) is the way to go here. The Blues are 6-0 in their last six games on two days’ rest, and the Over is 4-1-1 in those slates.

New York Rangers at Philadelphia Flyers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s New York Rangers at Philadelphia Flyers odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The New York Rangers (24-10-4) travel to meet the Philadelphia Flyers (13-16-7) Saturday at Wells Fargo Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Rangers vs. Flyers odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Rangers are back east after mixed results on the west coast. The Blueshirts have alternated wins and losses across the past five outings, winning last time out in San Jose by a 3-0 score on Thursday.

The Flyers have really struggled, dropping six in a row, including a 3-2 setback to Boston Thursday. Five of the past nine games since Dec. 16 have been decided by one goal, however.

  • Money line: Rangers -155 (bet $155 to win $100) | Flyers +125 (bet $100 to win $125)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Rangers -1.5 (+160) | Flyers +1.5 (-210)

Rangers at Flyers projected goalies

Igor Shesterkin (16-4-2, 1.99 GAA, .939 SV%, 3 SO) vs. Carter Hart (7-11-4, 2.93 GAA, .912 SV%, 1 SO)

Shesterkin has made two starts in January, and he has turned aside all 75 shots he has faced for shutouts against the Tampa Bay Lightning and the San Jose Sharks. He has won three straight starts, and eight of his past nine outings.

Hart has coughed up three or more goals in each of his past three outings, going 0-3-0 with a 4.15 GAA and .876 SV%. He has one start against the Rangers this season, losing 4-1 at Madison Square Garden while allowing three goals on 27 shots.

Rangers at Flyers odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Rangers 4, Flyers 1

Money line

The RANGERS (-155) are moderate favorites, but they’re well worth the risk. New York has been playing very well with Shesterkin in the crease, and he stopped 33 of the 34 shots he faced in that Dec. 1 victory against the Flyers (+125).

Against the spread

The RANGERS -1.5 (+160) is a strong play against the Flyers, even on the road. New York picked up a 4-1 win last time these teams faced each other at MSG. The problem with the Flyers +1.5 (-210) is that Hart is ice-cold lately. He has coughed up 12 total goals across his past three starts, all losses. On the flip side, Shesterkin is red hot, and his offense has backed him with plenty of support.

Over/Under

UNDER 5.5 (-105) is the play, mainly due to the presence of Shesterkin. The Under is 4-2 in his past six appearances, including the first game against the Flyers. The Under is also 5-0-1 in the past six games overall for New York, while going 20-6 in the past 26 games as a road favorite. The Under is also 5-2 in Philly’s past seven games overall. And in this series, the Under has cashed in four straight meetings.

Philadelphia Flyers at San Jose Sharks odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Thursday’s Philadelphia Flyers at San Jose Sharks odds, picks and prediction odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Philadelphia Flyers (13-12-5) visit the San Jose Sharks (16-14-1) Thursday at SAP Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Flyers vs. Sharks odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Flyers returned from the holiday break and COVID-19 pause to post a comeback 3-2 overtime win in Seattle Wednesday behind G Martin Jones. Each of their past three games weren’t decided in regulation. They won two in OT and lost the other in a shootout.

The Sharks had a wild 8-7 shootout victory against the Arizona Coyotes at home Tuesday in their return to action. Over the past seven games, San Jose has allowed a total of 30 goals, or 4.29 goals per outing.

Flyers at Sharks odds, spread and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 4:21 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Flyers +140 (bet $100 to win $140) | Sharks -175 (bet $175 to win $100)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Flyers +1.5 (-190) | Sharks -1.5 (+145)

Flyers at Sharks projected goalies

Martin Jones (6-4-1, 3.20 GAA, .911 SV%) vs. James Reimer (10-5-1, 2.29 GAA, .928 SV%, 1 SO)

Jones stopped 34 of the 36 shots in Wednesday’s OT win at Seattle. He will have to do some heavy lifting with fellow tendy Carter Hart in the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol.

Reimer was in net Tuesday for the wild 8-7 shootout victory, stopping 39 of the 46 shots in the win. He is 2-1-0 with a 3.28 GAA and .909 SV% in three December starts.

Flyers at Sharks odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Sharks 4, Flyers 3

Money line

The SHARKS (-175) are worth playing at home, although the price is a bit higher than I like and there are questions about their defense and goaltending after yielding 7 goals to the lowly Coyotes. The Flyers have struggled tremendously on offense, so it’s unlikely the Sharks will have a repeat performance of what Arizona just did.

Against the spread

The Flyers +1.5 (-190) have played three straight games which have required overtime or a shootout. However, playing Philly on the puck line will cost nearly two times your potential return. PASS.

Over/Under

OVER 6.5 (+110) is worth a roll of the dice with the way San Jose has been allowing goals lately, although Philly has really struggled offensively this season.

Still, the Over is 5-1 in Philadelphia’s past six against winning teams, and 4-2 in the past six overall. The Over is 5-2 in San Jose’s past seven games overall, too.

Colorado Avalanche at Philadelphia Flyers odds, picks, and prediction

Analyzing Monday’s Colorado Avalanche at Philadelphia Flyers odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Colorado Avalanche (12-7-2) and Philadelphia Flyers (8-10-4) meet Monday for a 7 p.m. ET puck drop at Wells Fargo Center. Below, we look at the Avalanche vs. Flyers odds and lines and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

Colorado is coming off a 6-5 loss at the Ottawa SenatorsSaturday and is just 1-3 in its last four road games. The Avalanche are on the fourth leg of a five-game road trip that started Dec. 1. The league’s top-scoring team (4.0 goals per game) is 5-5-1 through 11 road tilts this season.

The Flyers have been reeling of late. Philadelphia coughed up seven goals in a 7-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning Sunday and heads into Monday on an eight-game losing skid. Philly has yielded four or more goals in seven of those eight losses.

Avalanche at Flyers projected goalies

Justus Annunen (0-0-1, 3.21 GAA, .895 SV%) vs. Martin Jones (3-3-1, 2.94 GAA, .917 SV%)

Annunen is a 21-year-old making his first NHL start. He stopped 17 of 19 shots in a 37-minute relief appearance at Ottawa Saturday.

Jones stopped 10 of 12 pucks in a relief effort Sunday. The 31-year-old logged an .886 SV% in five games against the Avs last season.

Avalanche at Flyers odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Avalanche 4, Flyers 3

Money line

The prices here aren’t attractive at either end: PASS.

Against the spread

The lean here is small, based on decent pricing more than conviction in some value on Philadelphia, but consider a partial-unit play on PHILADELPHIA +1.5 (-150).

Figure enough gray area with the Colorado rookie’s first start. A Flyers team with its backs against the end boards will stay close to a road-weary Avalanche.

Over/Under

Philly’s puck-possession numbers in the last couple of games haven’t been bad, and Colorado’s defense ranks 27th in the league with 3.2 goals allowed per game.

The Avs offensive firepower plus Philadelphia’s penchant for allowing four or more goals of late plus a bit of a fade of the netminders … it all gets added to the Flyers being able to get at least a couple in this spot.

BACK THE OVER 6.5 (-110).

The Lightning picked up a 3-2 win in overtime at the Boston Bruins Saturday behind G Andrei Vasilevskiy. These teams have met twice since Nov. 18, with the Lightning winning both outings while outscoring the Flyers 8-3.

The Flyers have gone 0-5-2 over their last seven games. That span includes the two losses to the Lightning — 4-3 shootout loss Nov. 18 in Philadelphia and a 4-0 result in Tampa.

Lightning at Flyers projected goalies

Brian Elliott (2-1-1, 3.16 GAA, .887 SV%) vs. Carter Hart (5-6-3, 2.70 GAA, .919 SV%, 1 SO)

Elliott allowed three goals on 33 shots in a shootout loss Tuesday at St. Louis. He is anticipated to make his first-career start against his former team, the Flyers, in the second game of a back-to-back set. He has allowed three or more goals in each of his four outings.

Hart has allowed 13 goals across three straight losses. That losing skid includes a start Nov. 23 in Tampa when he allowed four goals on 35 shots in a 4-0 loss. He also stopped 29 of 32 shots in the Nov. 18 shootout loss to the Lightning.

Lightning at Flyers odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Lightning 4, Flyers 2

Money line

The LIGHTNING (-117) are expected to use their backup goalie after a back-to-back, but who knows the Flyers better than Elliott? He is well-rested and he should have plenty of offensive support against the shaky Hart. Tampa Bay has won five straight starts in this series, with the favorite 9-1 in the previous 10 meetings, too.

Against the spread

The LIGHTNING -1.5 (+200) are worth a roll of the dice for a chance to nearly double up. Five of Tampa’s last nine victories have been by two or more goals, including a Nov. 23 victory against the Flyers.

Over/Under

OVER 5.5 (-125) is worth a small-unit play. The Over has cashed in three of the last four for the Lightning while hitting in two of the last three for the Fly Guys. The Over is also 5-1 in the past six meetings between the two teams in Philadelphia while going 38-18-4 in the past 60 meetings overall in this series.

The Flyers were dropped 5-2 by the Boston Bruins Saturday in their last outing and were on the short end of a 4-3 score in a shootout against Tampa Bay two games back in Philadelphia.

Flyers at Lightning projected goalies

Carter Hart (5-3-3, 2.25 GAA, .932 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Andrei Vasilevskiy (8-3-3, 2.38 GAA, .917 SV%)

Hart lost to the Lightning last time out Thursday when he allowed three goals on 32 shots. C Brayden Point scored on the power play, while RW Mathieu Joseph and C Steven Stamkos also beat Hart in regulation.

Vasilevskiy turned aside 27 of the 30 shots he faced in regulation and overtime and stopped forwards Sean Couturier and Claude Giroux in the shootout for the extra point Thursday in Philadelphia.

Flyers at Lightning odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Lightning 5, Flyers 3

Money line

LIGHTNING (-180) is the play Tuesday night. They won in Philadelphia in the first meeting and they’ll top the Flyers on home ice.

Philadelphia has won just once in its last five tries against teams with a winning record while cashing in just two of the last seven against Eastern Conference opponents. In addition, the Flyers have won just three times in the past 15 trips to Tampa Bay.

Against the spread

The LIGHTNING -1.5 (+140) are worth a small-unit play on the puck line. Four of the last eight victories for Tampa Bay have been by two or more goals. On the flip side, three of the past four losses for the Flyers have been by two or more goals.

Over/Under

The OVER 5.5 (-115) has connected in five of the last six meetings between these clubs in Tampa Bay.

The Over is also 3-1 in the past four games for the Fly Guys, while the Over has hit in each of the last three for the Lightning. The Over is the best play on the board in this game.

The Maple Leafs saw their five-game win streak go up in smoke in ugly fashion, falling 5-1 Monday night against the Los Angeles Kings in the final outing of a five-game homestand.

The Flyers enter well rested, last playing Saturday. In that game, Philadelphia edged Washington on the road by a 2-1 count, its fifth consecutive Under result. Jack Campbell (6-3-1, 2.09 GAA, .929 SV%, 1 SO) vs. Carter Hart (3-2-2, 2.41 GAA, .926 SV%, 1 SO)

Campbell is 0-2 against the Flyers in his career. He has a 4.01 GAA and a .857 SV%. He stopped 48 of 56 shots in what were barrages against him.

Conversely, Hart has been great in two games against the Leafs in his career. He’s 2-0 with a 2.40 GAA and a .929 SV% as he stopped 65 of 70 shots. Hart is 1-0-1 with a 1.48 GAA and a .954 SV% in his last two starts.

Maple Leafs at Flyers odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Flyers 4, Maple Leafs 2

Money line

The FLYERS (+115) are a solid value at home as short dogs. The Maple Leafs (-140) haven’t been very good on the road, winning just once in the past five away from home. In addition, Toronto has won just once in its past six trips to Philadelphia, with the home team 9-3 in the past 12 meetings in this series.

Against the spread

The Flyers +1.5 (-230) are too expensive on the puck line, costing you more than two times your potential return. If you like them, just play them straight up.

AVOID.

Over/Under

The UNDER 6.5 (-135) is a strong play here. Campbell and Hart haven’t had a lot of rough nights, and “Soup” should bounce back after getting crowned by the Kings last time out. You might have to sweat out an empty net late, but the Under is the best play on the board here.

Boston Bruins at Philadelphia Flyers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s Boston Bruins at Philadelphia Flyers odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Boston Bruins (1-0-0) face the Philadelphia Flyers (1-0-1) Wednesday at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Bruins vs. Flyers odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Bruins kicked off the regular season with a 3-1 victory against the Dallas Stars on Saturday behind G Jeremy Swayman. C Brad Marchand notched the first goal of the season on a penalty shot, while LW Jake DeBrusk had the game-winning tally. Marchand also added an empty-net goal, showing the B’s still have plenty of firepower.

The Flyers routed the expansion Seattle Kraken 6-1 Monday. G Carter Hart bounced back nicely after allowing four goals in a 5-4 shootout loss against the Vancouver Canucks in the regular-season opener Friday.

Bruins at Flyers projected goalies

Jeremy Swayman (1-0-0, 1.00 GAA, .964 SV%) vs. Martin Jones (15-13-4, 3.28 GAA, .896 SV%, 1 SO in 2020-21 with San Jose Sharks)

Swayman was outstanding in his season debut, turning aside 27 of 28 shots in Saturday’s 3-1 opener against Dallas. Only C Luke Glendening beat Swayman, and the B’s never trailed.

Jones will make his team debut with the Flyers after spending the past six seasons with the Sharks. He hasn’t had a winning season since the 2018-19 season when he was 36-19-0 with a 2.94 GAA and .896 SV%.

Bruins at Flyers odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Bruins 5, Flyers 2

Money line

The BRUINS (-145) hit the road for the first time this season, and the moderate favorites are the play behind Swayman. Not only was he outstanding in the opener, but he was tremendous in his rookie campaign. He was 7-3-0 with a 1.50 GAA and .945 SV% with two shutouts, including a 1-1-0 record, 2.53 GAA and .923 SV% in two starts against the Flyers last season.

Against the spread

The BRUINS -1.5 (+160) are worth a small-unit play at plus-money. Jones makes his Philly debut, and he’ll be looking to impressive. But we’ve seen plenty of goaltenders, who changed teams in the offseason, have disastrous results in their first outing. Swayman already looks locked in, and the offense was impressive against Dallas.

Over/Under

OVER 5.5 (-125) is the best play on the board here. It’s still obviously a small sample size, but we have had the Over hit in each of Philly’s first two games with a total of eight total in two home dates against Seattle and the Vancouver Canucks. Boston has the best offense Philly has seen to date.

Seattle Kraken at Philadelphia Flyers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Monday’s Seattle Kraken at Philadelphia Flyers odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Seattle Kraken (1-1-1) faces the Philadelphia Flyers (0-0-1) Monday at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Kraken vs. Flyers odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Kraken have been competitive in the early going of their expansion season. All three games have been on the road, and they have won once in Nashville while losing in overtime at Columbus Saturday. All three games have been decided by one goal, too.

The Flyers played just one game so far, a 5-4 shootout loss against the Vancouver Canucks Friday. Philadelphia erased a 4-2 deficit late to force overtime, but they just couldn’t win it in the extra session.

Kraken at Flyers projected goalies

Philipp Grubauer (1-1-1, 2.99 GAA, .894 SV%) vs. Carter Hart (0-0-1, 3.78 GAA, .897 SV%)

Grubauer, the Vezina Trophy finalist last season, has been a busy beaver for the Kraken early on. He allowed four goals in the opening-game loss, but he has yielded just five goals on 55 shots across the past two outings, going 1-0-1.

Hart allowed four goals on 39 shots, and he was bested in the shootout Friday in his initial start of the season against the Canucks. However, he picked up the pace, holding Vancouver scoreless in the final 27:53.

Kraken at Flyers odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Kraken 4, Flyers 3

Money line

The KRAKEN (+120) are worth a look in this fourth game of the road trip to start the season. Head coach Dave Hakstol makes his first return to Philadelphia after getting canned by the Flyers (-145) back in 2018, and he’ll have his Seattle team playing hard in a game that’s important to him.

Against the spread

The Kraken +1.5 (-210) is just too expensive if you are looking for insurance as they’ll cost you more than two times your potential return.

AVOID, and just play Seattle straight up on the money line.

Over/Under

OVER 6.5 (+110) is worth a small-unit play. The sample size is rather small, but the Over is 2-1 in Seattle’s first three games as the Kraken have averaged 3.0 goals per game while allowing 2.67 goals per game. The Flyers have just the one game, and they’re well rested after seeing a total of nine goals on the board in their initial offering.
