After fire forced relocation, Charles Schwab Challenge merch tent offerings are still available

“If it happens Monday night, the whole thing probably goes up in flames and it’s a disaster.”

FORT WORTH, Texas — The merchandise tent for this week’s Charles Schwab Challenge is a little cramped, a little warm and a little difficult to navigate.

But tournament organizers say it’s still something of a blessing.

After a fire that was snuffed out in an empty tent on Sunday night, the area that houses the merchandise and the performance center was rendered unusable just before those at Colonial Country Club were set to fill it with this week’s shirts, hats and other souvenirs.

“Something sparked. We’re still not sure what,” said Dennis Roberson, the tournament director. “We have security on site the entire week and they discovered it fairly quickly and helped put it out.”

Over the next 24 hours, crews put up a smaller tent in an area traditionally reserved for tennis. Although Roberson said organizers would prefer a different, grander presentation, he’s still happy with the way his team has jumped into action.

“We’ve been given a circumstance and we’re moving, managing, solving problems, putting up new signage and making the best of an unfortunate situation,” he said. “We’re doing the Colonial thing and going forward.”

And what if the tents had been filled already?

“If it happens Monday night, the whole thing probably goes up in flames and it’s a disaster,” Roberson said. “The way it happened we got to salvage things.”

Here’s a look at what’s available in the makeshift tent:

PGA Tour: ‘OOO’ hat among highlights at 2023 AT&T Byron Nelson merchandise tent

Check out the best merchandise of the week, including an “Out of Office” hat that’s perfect for Thursday and Friday PGA Tour tickets

Since the PGA Championship is in the Northeast next week, the field at the AT&T Byron Nelson at TPC Craig Ranch isn’t as strong as it has been in recent years, but there are still storylines galore this week. The Tom Weiskopf design is playing as a par 71 and measures 7,414 yards.

Scottie Scheffler can get back to No. 1 in the world with a victory, and he’s making waves, holding the 36-hole lead at 14 under. Ryan Palmer, a North Texas golf staple, is also in the hunt.

These WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play merchandise items will soon be collectibles

On multiple levels, gear from the event at Austin Country Club could wind up as collectibles in the near future.

AUSTIN, Texas — On multiple levels, gear from the 2023 World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play event at Austin Country Club could wind up as collectibles in the near future.

This year’s playing of the event will be the last in Austin, as Jordan Uppleger, vice president and executive director of PGA Tour championship management, made the announcement to the media in early March.

In February, Golfweek reported that the event would be shuttered after this year’s playing. Its spot on the 2024 schedule, which is typically in late March on the back end of the Florida Swing, is expected to be filled by the Cadence Bank Houston Open, unless it prefers a date in the late April/early May timeframe instead as part of a shuffling of events.

Meanwhile, the World Golf Championships, which debuted in 1999 as a response to a potential rival golf league, could also be riding off into the sunset. Of the five events once contested, only the WGC-Champions event has yet to be officially killed off, but the event hangs in limbo.

As for this week, players will battle at Austin Country Club, designed by Pete Dye and opened in 1984. The club was founded in 1899, but moved from one course to another before Dye built the club its third course, which is tied for fifth in Texas on Golfweek’s Best list of private clubs. It also ties for No. 88 on Golfweek’s Best list of modern courses built in or after 1960 in the U.S.

Photos: Palm trees and California style on display in the Genesis Invitational merchandise tent

It makes sense that a steady diet of palm trees and flowers would be on display at the tournament’s merchandise tent.

The PGA Tour is in Los Angeles for the 2023 Genesis Invitational this week for one of the glitziest stops of the season, one of seven this year in the Golden State.

So it makes sense that a steady diet of palm trees, flowers and California style would be on display at the tournament’s merchandise tent.

This week’s tournament marks the second straight designated event, meaning 23 of the world’s top 25 golfers made the trek to Riviera Country Club. The biggest name in the field to start the week was Tiger Woods, who is playing in his first Tour event since the 2022 Open Championship at St. Andrews last July. In 13 starts at the Genesis, Tiger is winless.

Here’s a look at some of the offerings in the Genesis Invitational merchandise tent this week.

Although Greg Norman is absent, the shark is ever-present in QBE Shootout merchandise tent

When walking through the QBE Shootout merchandise tent, there’s a common theme — the shark.

When walking through the QBE Shootout merchandise tent, there’s a common theme — the shark.

Sure, the tournament is played at Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Florida, which Greg Norman constructed. It was formerly called the Shark Shootout, and Norman was a big reason why the tournament started and has been going strong for years. Also, Tiburón in Spanish means shark.

Although Norman isn’t at the QBE Shootout, the shark logo is ever-present, especially in the merchandise tent.

There is no shortage of hats, shirts and flags for fans to get their hands on.

Here’s a look at some of the best merchandise from the 2022 QBE Shootout.

At chilly RSM Classic, winter gear is flying off the shelves at the merchandise tent

Shoppers at the RSM Classic have been fighting over stylish ski caps, cashmere sweaters and puffy jackets.

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Georgia – The merchandise shop at the RSM Classic was bustling on Thursday morning — and for good reason.

On an unseasonably cool day, it made for a safe reprieve from temperatures barely trickling into the 50s. As a result, shoppers were fighting over stylish ski caps, cashmere sweaters and puffy jackets.

The RSM merch is heavy on Peter Millar and Polo gear, which makes sense given the tournament’s ties to Davis Love III. There was one polo with the Georgia Bulldog logo that fans of the No. 1-ranked college football team were eyeing and a strong hat and belt game featuring multiple versions of the tourney logo.

Holiday shopping clearly was underway but the theme of the day for many of the buyers was staying warm. As one woman who was buying a winter hat noted, “This is for me and I’m going to wear it now.”

Palmetto and Clemson hints: Check out the merchandise tent at the CJ Cup

There’s a bit of a call out to the Palmetto State with T-shirts in Clemson University orange and the state outline.

RIDGELAND, S.C. – Checking in from the official merchandise tent at the CJ Cup and sticking with a familiar theme — there’s a bit of a call out to the Palmetto State with T-shirts in Clemson University orange and the state outline. All that’s missing is the popular area code or zip code shirt. #CmonMan

The CJ Cup originated in South Korea, the home country of the title sponsor, but COVID-19 and the global pandemic have kept it from returning there since 2019. While the previous editions of the tournament have been held stateside in Las Vegas, Congaree Club stepped forward to play host this year, and has made its distinctive logo for the private club available to the masses this week if you want to rock their emblem as if you were a full-blooded member.

The gear available for purchase at the merchandise tent is pretty conservative this week: Peter Millar, Straight Down and Level Wear are the primary apparel companies and all the usual trinkets and tchotchkes that your heart could desire are also available.

Here’s a selection of the gear that caught our eye:

Merchandise at the BMW Championship is going fast (horrible pun intended)

We’re also fans of the club’s logo, a Merino ram, which is a reference to the land’s previous life as a sheep farm.

It’s a week of firsts at Wilmington Country Club as the FedEx Cup playoffs are making their first appearance on the exclusive golf course, and the PGA Tour is in Delaware for the very first time.

That’s given the folks associated with the BMW Championship a chance to roll out some fun new merchandise, as well as some staples from years gone by.

We’re also fans of the club’s logo, a Merino ram, which is a reference to the land’s previous life as a sheep farm. In fact, a structure on the north course’s 13th hole is still referred to by locals as the “sheep barn.” Although the merchandise highlights 1901 — when the land was secured and the plans put in place — the clubhouse wasn’t finished until 1902 and the first tournament was held in July of that year.

Photos: Some of the best merchandise at the 2022 Travelers Championship

Here are several photos of the best merchandise at the 2022 Travelers Championship.

CROMWELL, Conn. — For the second week in a row, the PGA Tour is in New England, this time at the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands.

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and No. 2 Rory McIlroy lead the star-studded field, however, Justin Thomas, ranked fifth, was forced to withdraw earlier this week due to an injury.

Brooks Koepka also withdrew from this week’s event, for a different reason. The four-time major champion was recently announced as the next big name headed to LIV Golf.

The Travelers Championship has quickly become a favorite among the players and we are in for an exciting event.
