Everything Nick Saban said on Wednesday of Austin Peay week

Everything Alabama football coach Nick Saban said on Wednesday of Austin Peay game week.

No. 8 Alabama is on the verge of playing their final non-conference matchup of the 2022 regular season when the Austin Peay Governors make the trip from Clarksville, Tenn to Tuscaloosa, Ala this Saturday.

Crimson Tide head coach [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] would speak to the media on Wednesday evening following practice to provide an update on the team’s preparations for the Governors.

Coach Saban took time to discuss how it is crucial to create the right culture and identity and how the opponent should not affect how you prepare.

Here is everything coach Saban had to say on Wednesday evening of Austin Peay game week.

Everything Nick Saban said on Monday of Ole Miss week

Everything Alabama football coach Nick Saban said on Monday of Ole Miss game week.

Alabama will once again have its work cut out for it on the road this weekend when the Crimson Tide travels to Oxford to take on the Ole Miss Rebels.

There are plenty of storylines to follow heading into the SEC West battle and the mindset of the Crimson Tide may be the most important.

With SEC and national title chances nearly out of the question, it is important for the pride of the program to finish the season strong.

On Monday, head coach [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] addressed the media as the Crimson Tide begin its preparations for Lane Kiffin and the Rebels. Here is everything coach Saban had to say:

OPINION: Alabama’s dynasty isn’t dead but changes are needed now

The Nick Saban dynasty is far from over at Alabama, but let’s not ignore the necessary changes that need to be made within the program.

To the surprise of most Alabama fans, the sun did rise following the Crimson Tide’s gut-wrenching overtime loss to LSU. But much like the overcast that suspends itself in the Alabama sky, the Crimson Tide faithful remain dreary and desolate.

In reality, the sky is not falling in around the Alabama football program, but it is not premature to say that events seem to be going in the wrong direction.

[autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] has always proudly stood on the fact that his teams play with discipline and an unmatched ability to finish games on the right side of the win-loss column.

This season just feels different for the Tide. I am not just talking about the losses to Tennessee and LSU either. Sometimes you just get beat. And with all due respect to both of those programs, Alabama did everything it could in both of those matchups to lose them.

Penalties, untimely mistakes and poor situational execution led to plenty of poor performances for Alabama this season.

So what is the underlying issue, or issues, inside the football program? It’s certainly not talent. Alabama annually hauls in the nation’s top talent. It’s not leadership, coach Saban is one of the greatest leaders regardless of occupation to ever live.

I believe the issues are rather obvious. It might be time for some changes to the coaching staff. Though assistants and coordinators are typically plucked from the Crimson Tide program to pursue opportunities elsewhere, time is of the essence.

Offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien has somehow managed to limit arguably the most talented quarterback Alabama has ever had. From my point of view, O’Brien’s calls lack creativity. O’Brien has failed to draw up a single play that has had a wide receiver streaking down the field wide open.

The offense has become so predictable that my 8-year-old daughter could likely tell you exactly what play is coming next. Therefore, SEC defensive coaches are eating the Tide offense alive. If not for the magical plays from Byrce Young and Jahmyr Gibbs, the Alabama offense would look like the Mike Shula-led offense of 2004.

Pete Golding is a fair defensive coordinator and that is about it. His apparent inability to make in-game adjustments and mix things up defensively has hindered the elite talent he has on that side of the ball. If it is a lack of player execution, fair or not, that falls on Golding as the coordinator.

I am not going to pretend to have all the answers and I can’t speak to all the changes that are hopefully ahead this offseason, but coach Saban better have them or the elite program could slip to 9-3 status rather quickly.

While I believe it is far too early to hit the panic button and suggest that the Saban dynasty is over, the need for change is not only obvious, it is necessary.

5 must-see takeaways from Alabama’s crushing loss to LSU

The issues this Crimson Tide team has are glaring. Here are 5 takeaways from the second loss of the season.

Just a few weeks after the Crimson Tide suffered a heartbreaking loss to Tennessee, Alabama dropped its second game of the season in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to the LSU Tigers.

Though it’s not completely ruled out, the chances of making the SEC championship game or the College Football Playoffs have taken a massive hit.

Alabama fans, analysts and former players took to Twitter after the game to voice frustration and ask questions about this team, the players and the leadership.

With some time to process the game, the issues this team has are glaring. Here are five takeaways from the Crimson Tide’s loss to LSU.

Alabama bounces back from loss, wins big 30-6 over Mississippi State

Alabama wins big against Mississippi State and will head into an off week with LSU up next.

After a rough loss on the road to Tennessee in Week 7, Alabama shut out the ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs with a final score of 30-6.

Bryce Young played well, as did star running back Jahmyr Gibbs. However, the true star was Pete Golding and his defense, which played lights out and disciplined against a strong Mike Leach-led offense.

The Crimson Tide’s path to the offseason still faces a few obstacles, but starting the final stretch of the regular season with a dominant win is a step in the right direction.

The team will have off next week but will prepare for a Week 10 matchup against LSU, a contest that will take place on the road in Baton Rouge.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Alabama Football as the 2022 regular season continues.

Alabama Morning Drive: Best from the Alabama coaches on Sunday’s media day

The best from Sunday’s media appearance from Nick Saban, Bill O’Brien, and Pete Golding.

Good morning, Tide fans and welcome back to another edition of Alabama Morning Drive. I hope everyone had a great weekend and is ready to get another work week underway.

On Sunday Alabama head coach [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag], offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien, and defensive coordinator [autotag]Pete Golding[/autotag] took time to have their annual media day in Tuscaloosa. This is the only time during the season that the two coordinators will be available to answer questions from the media, so this is generally a very interactive experience.

I thought to start the week we could take a look at some of the best comments from the Alabama coaches as fall camp begins to pick up speed.

Let’s roll!

Wild stat shows why 2022 is likely Alabama’s year to win it all

This has only ever happened twice in the last eight years, and Alabama won the National Championship both times. It’s happening in 2022.

[autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and his run with the Alabama Crimson Tide is among the greatest dynasties in the history of sports. What Coach Saban has done is far more difficult than just winning football games. Not only does he face the difficulties of losing collegiate players every three to four years, but he is constantly having to replace coaches who leave for other coaching opportunities.

Think of all the great coaches who have been assistants to Saban that ultimately left for coaching jobs: Jimbo Fisher, Lane Kiffin, Kirby Smart, Mario Cristobal and others.

For only the third time in the last eight years, Alabama will return both their offensive and defensive coordinators. Bill O’Brien remains responsible for the play-calling duties offensively while Pete Golding will continue to have full control over the defense.

The only other times that Alabama has returned its two coordinators was in 2015 and 2020. Alabama won the national title both of those seasons.

Five recruits that the Alabama faithful should be keeping a close eye on

Roll Tide Wire breaks down the five recruits that all Alabama fans should have their eyes on.

Alabama’s 2023 recruiting cycle didn’t start out so hot in comparison to other elite programs like Texas, Georgia and Ohio State. However, as of this past week, things seemed to be trending in the right direction.

In this week alone, Alabama has landed five-star Tony Mitchell, three-star Brayson Hubbard, four-star Cole Adams and junior college linebacker Justin Jefferson. If it is a sign of things to come, Alabama fans should be stoked.

As for the coming months, many expect the Tide to land a lot of recruits. Thus far, the class is mainly defensive players, with the only offensive players in the class are [autotag]Eli Holstein[/autotag], Wilkin Formby, and Cole Adams. That is subject to change over the next few months with numerous highly-touted recruits favoring the Tide. On the other hand, [autotag]Pete Golding[/autotag] and the defensive staff could receive quite a few commitments on that side of the ball as well.

Today, Roll Tide Wire discusses the five recruits that Alabama fans should keep a close eye on in the coming months and why.

Predicting Alabama’s full 2023 recruiting class

Today, Roll Tide Wire makes some early predicitions for Alabama’s 2023 recruiting class and how it will shape out.

Every Alabama fan will agree that [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] is arguably one of the best coaches and recruiters of all time. However, the same can be said for the rest of the coaching staff. Defensive coordinator [autotag]Pete Golding[/autotag], wide receivers coach Holmon Wiggins, and cornerbacks coach Travaris Robinson have all been known for their recruiting prowess over the years.

This past season, the Crimson Tide managed to bring in a stellar recruiting class. There has been just one recruiting class that ranked outside the top ten since Saban’s first year in Tuscaloosa in 2007. That class finished ranked No. 12 according to 247Sports’ recruiting rankings.

Now, the coaching staff is looking to assemble another outstanding recruiting class. With a surplus of talent across the state of Alabama and innumerable talent in other parts of the country, we fully expect this class to be among the best.

Today, Roll Tide Wire will make some early predictions for the Crimson Tide’s 2023 recruiting class. Read along to learn more about the possible future of the Alabama football program.

Where Alabama ranks in ESPN’s future defensive power rankings

Let’s see where Alabama lands in ESPN’s future defensive power rankings.

We are in the dog days of summer as we await the start of the 2022 college football season. The transfer portal and recruiting buzz have kept everyone busy, but there is nothing like the real thing.

While we patiently wait for the fall to roll around, we are stuck disecting offseason rankings. Recently ESPN (ESPN+ subscription required) released its future defensive power rankings which took a closer look at who they believe will be the best defenses across college football over the next few seasons.

Considering how talented the current roster is and how well [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and his staff continue to recruit, Alabama landed at No. 4 on the list.

[autotag]Pete Golding[/autotag] and the Alabama defense return arguably the best defensive player in the country in EDGE defender [autotag]Will Anderson[/autotag].  Also anchoring the Tide defense are veterans Henry To’oTo’o, Jordan Battle, DJ Dale, and DeMarcco Hellams.

Ranking ahead of the Tide on ESPN’s list were Clemson, Georgia, and Texas A&M.

Do you agree with ESPN’s future rankings? Let us know by commenting at the end of the post!
