LOOK: Alabama shares photos from first spring football practice

Alabama football has had their first football practice of the season and posted a few pictures that show some high-profile players to watch.

The reigning national championships have started training for a repeat performance in 2021. Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide are back on the field with spring practices.

Former stars Mac Jones, Jaylen Waddle and DeVonta Smith are no longer with the team, meaning that the coaching staff will use this time to build the early stages of a depth chart.

There are plenty of questions surrounding the offensive line, as well as who the starting quarterback will be.

The Alabama Football team’s social account have posted a few pictures from the first football practice of the spring, one of which includes sophomore quarterback Bryce Young, who joined the Crimson Tide in the 2020 recruiting class as a five-star.

Alabama football countdown: 15 days until kickoff

We are 15 days from Alabama football kicking off its season on the road against the Missouri Tigers to start a 10-game, SEC only schedule.

There has been a lot of uncertainty surrounding college football over the last couple of months, but as of right now, the season still looks like it’s a go for the SEC, ACC and Big 12.

So, what does that mean? It means that we can continue the Countdown to Kickoff en route to the Crimson Tide — and the rest of the SEC — getting things underway on Sept. 26.

With it now being Sept. 11, we are officially 15 days away from the start!

Two players are currently wearing the No. 15 for Alabama.

On offense, it’s redshirt freshman Paul Tyson out of Hewitt-Trussville. After spending last season as the fourth-team quarterback, Tyson, the great grandson of the late Paul “Bear” Bryant, Tyson has been making strides in fall camp.

On defense, it’s redshirt sophomore safety Eddie Smith, who is switching from No. 25 after the departure of former Crimson Tide safety Xavier McKinney. Before McKinney, it was yet another safety who wore the number: Ronnie Harrison.

Analysis: With the news that Taulia Tagovailoa has entered the transfer portal, Paul Tyson is now Alabama’s third-string quarterback as we get closer to the 2020 season.

There is some concern with amongst fans due to Tyson’s lack of experience, but similarly to Mac Jones, Tyson was a well-respected high school quarterback prospect who held offers from LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, USC and others.

Being Paul “Bear” Bryant’s great grandson adds a layer to Tyson’s storyline, but he can be so much more than that before it’s all said and done. A valuable piece of the Tide’s depth at the most important position on the field, expect the 6-foot-5, 220-pound signal caller to continue to work towards adding experience.
