Patrick Williams provides injury update after wearing walking boot

Chicago Bulls forward Patrick Williams recently spoke about his injury and why he was in a walking boot.

As the trade deadline approaches, most of the talk surrounding the Chicago Bulls has been about what potential moves they could make, and rightfully so. They’ve been a middle-of-the-pack team for two years now, and they don’t seem like they have a real direction moving forward.

However, after an ugly start to the season made it look like the Bulls were destined for a top-10 pick, they’ve pushed their way back up into the Play-In picture. Unfortunately, they’ve dealt with a ton of injuries this year. Zach LaVine has missed significant time, Nikola Vucevic missed some games, and a bunch of their depth pieces have been out for stretches as well.

Patrick Williams is the latest of the bunch. He missed the Bulls’ recent game against the Portland Trail Blazers and was seen wearing a walking boot after playing with pain in his left foot for weeks. The young forward provided an update on the situation via Julia Poe of the Chicago Tribune.

“It’s one of those situations where the benefit of [the walking boot], whether I needed it or not, kind of outweighed the look of it,” Williams said. “Naturally, I said, ‘Hell no.’ I know what it looks like to wear a boot. You never want to just have to wear one of those. But they spoke to me about the benefit of wearing it and kind of deloading it for a couple days.”

Williams has been having a solid season, averaging 10.0 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.5 assists while shooting 44.3% from the field and 39.9% from behind the three-point line.

Patrick Williams talks Bulls’ resilience after huge win over Grizzlies

After the Chicago Bulls’ win 125-96 win over the Memphis Grizzlies, Patrick Williams spoke about the resilience.

The Chicago Bulls have fought through a ton of injuries this season. Zach LaVine missed over a month, Torrey Craig is out with a long-term ailment, and Nikola Vucevic also missed some games. Add in the fact that they started the season at 5-14, and it’s impressive they’ve managed to climb into the race for the Play-In Tournament.

Chicago has won six of their last eight games and currently sits at 21-23 on the season. Unfortunately, LaVine is now slated to miss 1-2 weeks of action with an ankle sprain, meaning the Bulls will have to once again make do without him in the lineup.

Despite that, they picked up a big 125-96 win over an injury-riddled Memphis Grizzlies squad on Saturday night. After the game, Patrick Williams spoke about the importance of resilience and togetherness while battling through injuries.

“You just find a way,” Williams said via ESPN. “The end goal is to win the game (no matter) who’s playing, who’s not playing. That’s your job as a team, that’s your job as a player is to win games. We’re all trying to find a way to do that. Would love to have him here. Can’t wait ‘til he gets back. But we’ve got to hold down the fort.”

Williams had a nice night against the Grizzlies. He put up 15 points, five rebounds, two steals, and one block while shooting 4-of-11 from the field and 3-of-7 from behind the three-point line.

However, while Williams played well, it was a team effort that helped the Bulls to a win on Saturday. Seven different players finished with 10 or more points.

Bulls provide crucial injury updates on Patrick Williams, Ayo Dosunmu

A recent report indicates that Chicago Bulls youngsters Patrick Williams and Ayo Dosunmu’s injuries aren’t too serious.

It’s been a long, weird year for the Chicago Bulls. Their ugly start to the season has since been (relatively) masked by a recent surge that has them in the mix for the Play-In Tournament. But in addition to their on-court struggles, the Bulls have been hit with a serious case of the injury bug.

Zach LaVine missed over a month from November 30 to January 3. Nikola Vucevic also missed five games at the turn of the new year. On top of that, Torrey Craig is dealing with a long-term injury that will reportedly keep him out for 8-10 weeks (starting from the middle of December). And now, two of the Bulls’ youngsters are dealing with injuries, too.

Patrick Williams has a right ankle strain, and Ayo Dosunmu is dealing with a shoulder issue. However, according to Julia Poe of the Chicago Tribune, the Bulls don’t believe either of the issues are too serious. (H/t Stephen Belsic of Bulls News)

“The Bulls medical staff does not believe either injury is structural damage,” Poe wrote. “But these lingering pains are a concern for the Bulls as both players have filled key secondary roles throughout this season.”

So far this season, Williams is averaging 9.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.6 assists while shooting 45.0% from the field and 40.8% from behind the three-point line.

Meanwhile, Dosunmu is averaging 8.4 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists while shooting 47.3% from the floor and 36.8% from beyond the three-point arc.

The Bulls have already been through the wringer in terms of injuries this season, so it’s good news that neither Williams nor Dosunmu is dealing with anything too serious.

Billy Donovan provides injury updates on Alex Caruso, Patrick Williams

The Chicago Bulls gave injury updates on Alex Caruso and Patrick Williams.

As the Chicago Bulls look to push their way back up the standings after a rough start to the season, injuries have continuously got in the way. Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic just returned from their respective injuries against the Charlotte Hornets on Friday night, but that’s not where Chicago’s poor injury luck ends.

Torrey Craig is set to miss a significant amount of time, and both Alex Caruso and Patrick Williams are dealing with ailments as well. Luckily for the Bulls, Caruso could be nearing his return from injury sooner rather than later, which is great news for the Bulls. Williams, however, may not be.

According to Bulls head coach Billy Donovan (via KC Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago), Caruso took part in non-contact practice on Sunday, but Williams did not.

Caruso has been having an amazing season for the Bulls and could be one of their top trade chips at the deadline this season. He’s averaging 10.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists while shooting 51.0% from the field and 42.6% from behind the three-point line.

As for Williams, he’s been impressive after a slow start. He’s averaging 10.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.5 assists while shooting 45.3% from the floor and 41.0% from beyond the three-point arc.

Getting Caruso back sooner rather than later would not only help the Bulls’ chances of winning but also help him increase his trade stock ahead of the deadline.

Williams, on the other hand, could use the developmental minutes on a Chicago team that could look very different and much younger in about a month.

Bulls head coach lays out new challenge for Patrick Williams

Billy Donovan wants to see some more aggression out of Patrick Williams.

Billy Donovan wants Patrick Williams to be more aggressive. The fourth-year forward has enjoyed a strong start to the season, but Donovan believes he can have an even greater impact. Williams has been one of the bright spots this season despite a difficult few months for the Chicago Bulls roster.

Donovan’s comments came when speaking to the media following Chicago’s loss to the Miami Heat on Saturday (Dec. 16.) Williams had produced a solid statline of 25 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists, shooting 80% from 3-point range and 80% from the field. As such, Donovan knows that Mitchell can provide a similar impact on a nightly basis.

“With younger players, you don’t want to play in a wide gap where there are these drastic differences. Whether he makes shots or misses shots, it’s the aggressiveness. And he clearly on Thursday night wasn’t as aggressive as he was (Saturday). And we gotta get him to be consistent doing that,” Donovan said. “He’s gotta own that. When he does what he does (Saturday), he’s a huge boost to our team.”

Williams is one of Chicago’s only young, high-potential players. The roster has been constructed around aging stars, which is primarily why Chicago is expected to be active around the trade deadline. However, Williams’ upside and importance to the franchise means that he’s unlikely to be included in any potential trade discussions.

The 22-year-old forward has had flashes of his potential since entering the NBA but has struggled to string those impressive performances together. With multiple years of development time ahead of him, hopes should still be high for Williams to figure it out and become an integral member of the rotation.

Writer suggests interesting Zach LaVine-less Lakers trade with Bulls

One journalist suggested a trade between the Lakers and Bulls that could improve the Lakers without the risk of taking on Zach LaVine.

The Los Angeles Lakers are 15-11 about two months into the NBA season, and they have fallen to eighth place in the Western Conference. While it clearly isn’t time to panic, some mild concern is warranted, given the legitimate championship expectations the team had when the season started.

Many believe L.A.’s biggest weaknesses are 3-point shooting, perimeter defense and perhaps frontcourt or wing depth. Some also believe the team needs a legitimate third scoring option to take some pressure off LeBron James and help it remain productive when the superstar is resting.

That has led to much speculation that Los Angeles is going to go after Chicago Bulls star Zach LaVine via trade. However, people seem divided on whether that would be a prudent move for the Lakers. At least one prominent writer has said he isn’t who they should go after.

On the other hand, the Bulls have other intriguing trade targets, and many believe they will soon have a fire sale since they’re going nowhere fast.

Jordyn Bontrager of Lake Show Life proposed an interesting trade between the Lakers and Bulls that doesn’t involve LaVine but could address a couple of the Lakers’ needs.

Bulls receive: Rui Hachimura, Jalen Hood-Schifino, 2029 first-round draft pick

Lakers receive: Alex Caruso, Patrick Williams

Chicago Bulls Injury Report vs. Thunder: Zach LaVine, Alex Caruso, Patrick Williams all PROBABLE

Check out the Chicago Bulls injury report ahead of their matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

It’s been a rough season for the Chicago Bulls so far. They’ve lost four of their last five games, including an 18-point loss to the Miami Heat on Monday night. Chicago currently sits at 5-10 on the season, good for 12th in the Eastern Conference. On Wednesday night, they will be taking on the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Oklahoma City has been having a great season this year, and opposite the Bulls, they’ve been on a hot streak. The Thunder have won five games in a row, four of which were on the road, and in their most recent game, they beat the Portland Trail Blazers by 43 points.

Heading into the Bulls’ game against the Thunder, the Bulls injury report has been revealed and is as follows.

Report: Bulls’ Alex Caruso, Patrick Williams drawing most trade interest around the NBA

Alex Caruso and Patrick Williams are the two Chicago Bulls players generating the most trade interest around the NBA.

As the season rolls on, the Chicago Bulls are one of the top teams to watch regarding potential trades. They’ve been extremely disappointing this season, and while they went 1-1 in their recent two-game mini-series against the Miami Heat, they were down by 20+ in the first game and got blown out in the second.

Zach LaVine has been a name that’s been brought up as a likely trade candidate, and one would have to assume the same can be said about DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic. However, according to Marc Stein of The Stein Line, those three aren’t the hottest commodities on the Bulls roster.

Stein recently reported that Alex Caruso and Patrick Williams are “generating the most November trade curiosity” around the league.

Chicago Bulls Injury Report vs. Pistons: Alex Caruso QUESTIONABLE, Patrick Williams PROBABLE

Check out the Chicago Bulls injury report ahead of their game against the Detroit Pistons.

Ahead of the Chicago Bulls’ game against the Detroit Pistons on Sunday night, multiple players are listed on the injury report. Alex Caruso is labeled as QUESTIONABLE, and Patrick Williams is PROBABLE to play. Caruso is dealing with a left toe strain, and Williams has a left finger sprain. Lonzo Ball is also out, as he is slated to miss the entire season.

In addition, the Bulls’ two-way players are not available to play against the Pistons. Adama Sanogo, Justin Lewis, and Onrulap Bitim are all on assignment with the Windy City Bulls, Chicago’s G League affiliate instead of up with the main ball club.

Meanwhile, the Pistons are also dealing with their fair share of injuries ahead of the game vs. the Bulls.

Bojan Bogdanovic, Jalen Duren, Joe Harris, Isaiah Livers, and Monte Morris are all OUT against the Bulls. Bogdanovic is dealing with a left calf strain, Duren has right ankle soreness, Harris has a right shoulder sprain, Livers is suffering from a left ankle sprain, and Morris has a right quadriceps sprain.

In other news, second-year guard Jaden Ivey, who has missed four straight games, is back and will be available for the game against Chicago.

Following a brutal overtime loss to the Phoenix Suns, the Bulls will be looking to bounce back against a Pistons team that is 2-8 on the season, which is the worst record in the Eastern Conference.

Chicago has lost four of their last five games and has looked rough to start the year, but a win over Detroit could help them get back on track.

Re-drafting the Chicago Bulls recent NBA Draft picks

How have the Chicago Bulls done at drafting in recent years?

For the last couple of seasons, the Chicago Bulls have boasted a new-look core led by Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and Nikola Vucevic, none of whom were drafted by the organization. But among the pack lies the likes of Coby White, Patrick Williams, and Ayo Dosunmu, who were selected by the Bulls in recent years.

Unfortunately, despite their overall lack of recent success, the Bulls have failed to draft any stars in the NBA Draft. Guys like Mikal Bridges, Tyler Herro, and Tyrese Haliburton have slipped through the cracks, going just a few picks after the Bulls made their selections.

The Bulls Central YouTube channel went through some of Chicago’s recent draft picks and rewrote history, re-drafting the Bulls’ picks.

What have been the Bulls’ worst draft mistakes in recent history?
