Chiefs’ Super Bowl LVII victory parade scheduled for Wednesday

The #Chiefs plan to hold their #ChiefsKingdom #SuperBowl LVII champions parade on Wednesday. Details inside:

The Kansas City Chiefs are going parading after defeating the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII.

It’s a quick turnaround for the Chiefs, who will head home from Arizona in the coming days and prepare for their Super Bowl LVII champions parade. The victory parade is currently scheduled for Noon CT on Wednesday, Feb. 15.

The exact route for the parade will be released on Monday afternoon, but it’ll likely mimic the 2019-20 Super Bowl LIV parade route. They began on Grand Boulevard ending up at Union Station, where key players, coaches and fans addressed the hordes of Chiefs Kingdom faithful in a rally. That rally is expected to begin at 1:45 p.m. CT this time around begins in front of Union Station and the National WWI Museum and Memorial north lawn.

This parade is expected to be as big, if not bigger than the Chiefs’ Super Bowl LIV parade. Local schools are already canceling in order to allow everyone to celebrate the big win in Super Bowl LVII.

Stetson Bennett roasted Georgia media personality Steak Shapiro over truly bizarre cell-phone take

Well done, Stetson.

Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett prepared the absolute perfect clapback to one of Atlanta’s most notorious sports media personalities.

This week, Bennett, the Peach State hero after willing the Bulldogs to a second-straight national title, looked to innocuously miss a question from a reporter during Georgia’s undoubtedly loud championship parade.

The moment showed that Bennett was checking his phone during the missed interaction, which most people would most likely not find offense with. After all, Bennett was at a parade commemorating his accomplishments with his teammates. Checking your phone shouldn’t be a party foul.

However, Atlanta-based sports and food media figure Steak Shapiro (yes, that’s what he goes by) decided to drum up an incredibly silly, Skip Bayless-level hot take about Bennett’s apparent lack of cellular decorum during the car ride.

Shapiro is no stranger to controversy. He’s infamous for being fired from a radio gig after mocking New Orleans Saints legend and ALS survivor Steve Gleason with two other co-hosts. He thankfully apologized, but it put a bad taste in the mouths of his listeners.

This time, he bizarrely decided to come after one of the most popular athletes in the state of Georgia. However, Bennett, a savvy social media user, delivered the most devastating comeback for Shapiro’s nonsense.

If someone began their witty retort to you by calling you “Mr. Med. Rare,” you’d probably want to go into hibernation for the winter and not return until spring practice.

Bennett was clearly just trying to play some tunes and enjoy his time with his fellow Bulldogs. Shapiro’s attempt to start a fire just ended up leaving him burned. He’ll probably have to think long and hard about the next time he takes a shot at a Georgia football player who helped win the school two championships.

Captain Klay Thompson boats across Bay to Warriors championship parade

Captain Klay Thompson boated to the Warriors championship parade in signature fashion.

Let the party begin.

On Monday, the Golden State Warriors will celebrate their run to the 2022 NBA title with a championship parade. After defeating the Boston Celtics in six games, members of the Warriors will travel through the streets of San Francisco with the Larry O’Brien trophy for the first time since moving from Oakland.

Before the parade could even begin, Klay Thompson kicked off the festivities in signature fashion. The now four-time NBA champion broke out his captain’s hat and boated across the Bay to get to the parade. While piloting his boat, Thompson entertained fans by going live on Instagram.

14 amazing photos from the Kansas Jayhawks championship parade

The party continues in Kansas

The party continues to rage in Lawrence, Kansas where we imagine the NCAA tournament champion Jayhawks have yet to sleep since Monday night.

After returning from the Final Four in New Orleans earlier this week, the KU team has seemingly been everywhere at once. From celebrating with the Kansas City Royals on Opening Day, to appearing at the Kansas football spring game—where basketball walk-on Chris Teahan suited up and threw a touchdown pass during a “scrimmage”—the Jayhawks are making the most of their time on the mountain top.

Sunday provided another spoil for the victors as thousands of fans packed Massachusetts Street in Lawrence for an epic title parade featuring players and coaches rolling in everything from classic Corvettes to brand new BMWs.

Here are some of the best moments from the festivities.

NBA fans roasted the Bucks’ fast-driving bus at the start of the championship parade

SLOW DOWN.

The Milwaukee Bucks had waited 50 years to reclaim an NBA championship. So, with that in mind, you’d think that everyone involved with the parade would want to savor the moment.

Think again! The bus driver had places to be.

At the start of the Bucks’ NBA championship parade on Thursday, fans lined up outside the loading dock at Fiserv Forum to get a first look at the team as the parade went underway.

That’s when they were all greeted to a green double-decker bus that came flying out of the gates. This bus wasn’t exactly going at the typical parade speed.

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce asked his brother for advice on his Super Bowl parade speech

Jason Kelce’s advice to the Kansas City Chiefs tight end was to speak from the heart.

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce confirmed that he received a little inspiration from his brother for his Super Bowl LIV parade speech.

Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce gave a passionate speech at their Super Bowl LII parade in 2018. After that, Travis was merely interested in earning a Super Bowl ring of his own. He didn’t have any idea what he would say if he ever had the opportunity to hold the mic at a Super Bowl parade.

“Listen, I’m just trying to one-up him in terms of getting a Super Bowl ring first,” Travis told Chiefs Wire. “I’ll worry about the parade if I ever get to enjoy one.”

Well, it didn’t take long for Travis to match his brother in Super Bowl titles. Sure enough, he also had an opportunity to make a Super Bowl speech of his own. When Travis spoke with reporters on Wednesday, he revealed that he didn’t prepare his speech and that his brother advised him to let it all come from the heart.

“None of that was like ever thought of,” Kelce explained. “I just went up there blind. I asked my brother, ‘Did you have some of that stuff thought out?’ He was like, ‘I knew I was going to talk about my teammates and give them praise and bring to light that everybody was hating on us.’ But he didn’t know how he was going to say it, he just went up there and started rambling on. I was like, ‘Yeah, you know what? Speak from the heart I guess.’ So I went out there knowing that I was going to give some guys some praise, especially Coach Reid, for him to be able to get [a Super Bowl win]. Then El Presidente, [Chiefs team president] Mark Donovan came up to me before the parade and let me know that we’re going to make ‘Fight For Your Right To Party’ the anthem for every time we score a point. I think going into it with that mentality, not really knowing what I was going to say, but just speaking from the heart and speaking about my teammates. That was the mindset.”

Jason originally said that Travis didn’t need any advice, but what’s a big brother if not someone you can rely on for a little advice? I think it’s safe to say that the Kelce brothers both have a knack for giving impromptu, passionate and enjoyable Super Bowl speeches. Now, they’ll be in a race to see which of the two will get to take the microphone next.
