Tennesee’s Ovince Saint Preux meets Ion Cutelaba at UFC Fight Night expected for Nashville

Longtime UFC fighters Ovince Saint Preux and Ion Cutelaba will square off Aug. 5 in a fight expected for Nashville, Tenn.

It’ll be a homecoming for a longtime UFC fighter [autotag]Ovince Saint Preux[/autotag] when he steps into the cage for his bout.

At a UFC Fight Night event Aug. 5, expected to take place in Nashville, Tenn., Saint Preux (26-17 MMA, 14-12 UFC) will return for his 26th promotional appearance when he takes on [autotag]Ion Cutelaba[/autotag] (17-9-1 MMA, 6-8-1 UFC) in a light heavyweight bout.

UFC tries Ovince Saint Preux vs. Philipe Lins again, this time for February

Ovince Saint Preux has had a tough time finding fights as of late, but the UFC is attempting him vs. Philipe Lins yet again.

In the wake of a string of fight booking cancellations outside of his control, [autotag]Ovince Saint Preux[/autotag] is booked again.

After three opponents withdrew from bouts opposite him at UFC 282, Saint Preux (26-16 MMA, 14-11 UFC) was removed from the Dec. 10 card. Now, he’s rebooked against [autotag]Philipe Lins[/autotag] (15-5 MMA, 1-2 UFC) for a bout on the UFC Fight Night card Feb. 18 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

A person with knowledge of the booking recently informed MMA Junkie of the matchup but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement. MMA Fighting first reported the booking.

Ovince Saint Preux and UFC 282 apparently just don’t mix well together.

[autotag]Ovince Saint Preux[/autotag] and UFC 282 apparently just don’t mix well together.

For the third time, Saint Preux has lost his opponent for Saturday’s event after Brazilian [autotag]Antonio Trocoli[/autotag] withdrew from their light heavyweight bout in Las Vegas due to visa issues. A replacement opponent on six five days’ notice is being sought.

A person with knowledge of the situation confirmed the news to MMA Junkie on Monday following an initial report by MMA Fighting.

Saint Preux, 39, has experienced the worst luck trying to keep a fight together at UFC 282. He was originally supposed to meet former light heavyweight title challenger Alexander Gustafsson. However, Gustafsson withdrew for undisclosed reasons and was replaced by Philipe Lins.

Lins, however, withdrew Nov. 27 for undisclosed reasons. In his place stepped in promotional newcomer Trocoli, who is now out.

Across his most recent four bouts, Saint Preux (26-12 MMA, 16-12 UFC) is 2-2. He is one of the longest tenured members of the UFC roster as he nears his 10-year anniversary with the promotion.

The updated UFC 282 lineup includes:

Ovince Saint Preux gets third UFC 282 opponent after Philipe Lins withdraws

Two opponents have withdrawn from their UFC 282 fights vs. Ovince Saint Preux in the past few weeks.

[autotag]Ovince Saint Preux[/autotag] readjusts course once again, though the final destination remains UFC 282.

For the second time in as many weeks, Saint Preux (26-12 MMA, 16-12 UFC) has a new opponent for the Dec. 10 pay-per-view at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. With [autotag]Philipe Lins[/autotag] out for undisclosed reasons, Saint Preux will fight promotional newcomer [autotag]Antonio Trocoli[/autotag] (12-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC).

A person with knowledge of the matchup recently confirmed the booking to MMA Junkie after Saint Preux announced the bout on his OnlyFans page.

Saint Preux, 39, was originally supposed to fight former UFC light heavyweight title challenger Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 282. However, Gustafsson withdrew for undisclosed reasons and was replaced by Lins.

Across his most recent four outings, Saint Preux is 2-2. He is one of the longest tenured members of the UFC roster as he nears his decade anniversary with the promotion.

Trocoli, 31, signed with the UFC in 2019 after a quick submission win on Dana White’s Contender Series, but he never fought because he tested positive for a banned substance. He was suspended and released.

The updated UFC 282 lineup includes:

Ovince Saint Preux says Alexander Gustafsson out of UFC 282, Philipe Lins to replace

Alexander Gustafsson is out of the UFC’s year-end pay-per-view according to “OSP.”

[autotag]Ovince Saint Preux[/autotag] has a new opponent.

According to “OSP,” his originally scheduled opponent [autotag]Alexander Gustafsson[/autotag] is off UFC 282 on Dec. 10. Stepping in his place will be [autotag]Philipe Lins[/autotag], a former PFL champion.

A person with knowledge of the booking confirmed the matchup to MMA Junkie after Saint Preux announced the bout on his OnlyFans page. The person asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.

A reason for Gustafsson’s withdrawal was not given.

One of the longest-tenured fighters on the promotion’s roster, Saint Preux (26-16 MMA, 14-11 UFC) is 2-2 in his most recent four outings. Knockout losses to Tanner Boser and Jamahal Hill are sandwiched between a win over Alonzo Menifield and his most recent outing, a lackluster split decision against Mauricio Rua in May.

Lins (15-5 MMA, 1-2 UFC) picked up his first UFC victory in April when he defeated Marcin Prachnio via unanimous decision. Prior to that fight, which marked his drop to light heavyweight, Lins lost two heavyweight fights; one to Andrei Arlovski and one to Tanner Boser.

With the change, the UFC 282 lineup includes:

  • Champ Jiri Prochazka vs. Glover Teixeira – for light heavyweight title
  • Jan Blachowicz vs. Magomed Ankalaev
  • Robbie Lawler vs. Santiago Ponzinibbio
  • Jared Gordon vs. Paddy Pimblett
  • Bryce Mitchell vs. Ilia Topuria
  • Philipe Lins vs. Ovince Saint Preux

  • Dricus Du Plessis vs. Darren Till
  • Chris Daukaus vs. Jairzinho Rozenstruik
  • Alexander Hernandez vs. Billy Quarantillo
  • TJ Brown vs. Erik Silva
  • Joaquin Buckley vs. Chris Curtis
  • Ronnie Lawrence vs. Cameron Saaiman
  • Daniel da Silva vs. Vinicius Salvador
