In a bizarre turn of events, the Oklahoma Sooners find themselves down yet another running back.
Categorize this under the “straight out of left field” category. In the most bizarre set of circumstances it looks like Oklahoma has lost yet another scholarship running back for the 2021 season.
Tre Bradford, who transferred from LSU to OU in June is no longer with the team. According to the OU Daily, the student newspaper at Oklahoma, Bradford had missed the last two practices. The paper reached out to the athletic department for details but received no response.
This news comes absolutely at the worst time as just this week the Sooners coaching staff received news that Marcus Major was ruled academically ineligible for this coming season. In the aforementioned article, Tre Bradford was directly mentioned as someone that would benefit most from the loss of Major. In less than 96 hours Bradford himself is gone.
The Sooners are left with two scholarship running backs in Kennedy Brooks, who returned after opting out due to concerns about COVID and Tennessee transfer Eric Gray. Jaden Knowles, a walk-on running back could see some meaningful carries going forward.
Could Bradford be heading back to LSU in a bizarre happening of events? Our friends at LSUWire speculated it as a very loose possibility. Is there a chance he still ends up playing at Oklahoma this year? That remains to be seen. Whatever the case may be, it’s certain that this is a very unfortunate turn of events for an OU program snakebitten by some tough personnel issues in their RB room.
With less than two weeks until the season, Lincoln Riley and DeMarco Murray are left trying to pick up the pieces as they get ready to try and make a run for a national title.

And Prescott is not the only one speaking out on Lamb’s behalf. Cowboys Legend Michael Irvin took to NFL Network on Tuesday and emphasized just how important Lamb can be to an already stellar Cowboys offense.
“What [the front office] did by adding CeeDee Lamb is akin to Kevin Durant being added to a 73-9 Warriors team,” Irvin said.
The Cowboys offense finished first in the NFL in yards per play last season (6.5). With Lamb now in the fold, there’s potential for a historically potent offensive unit.
For reference, the 2018 Chiefs clocked in at 6.8 yards per play, the highest mark of the decade.

In his last season in Norman, Lamb racked up 1327 yards and 14 touchdowns on 62 catches for a mind-boggling 21.4 yards per attempt. He also finished as a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award.

Even with the State Fair of Texas canceled, Fletcher’s Corny Dogs will still be available to fans attending OU-Texas
Even with the State Fair of Texas canceled for the first time since World War II, another fan-favorite tradition will be sticking around for OU and Texas’ 2020 matchup at the Cotton Bowl.
Fletcher’s Original Corny Dogs, the corn-dog stand that has become inseparably synonymous with the fair, will make an appearance at this year’s Red River Showdown, CBS Austin’s Bob Ballou reports.

The Austin American Statesman’s Brian Davis also reports that the fair is looking into setting up a mini-Midway for the fans in attendance.
Fletcher’s, who claims to have invented the corn dog in 1938, took quite the financial hit with the fair’s cancellation. Their website states that the stand annually sells over 500,000 corn dogs throughout the course of the fair.
Their sales won’t hit nearly that number this year, but it’s a heartwarming gesture to ensure that the fans who attend the game won’t do so without their favorite fried treat.

Former four-star recruit who was named to the Freshman All-American team and Big 12’s Co-Defensive Freshman of the Year during his first year in Norman. He is a play making linebacker who best projects as a weakside (WILL) linebacker in the NFL. Kenneth Murray looks the part of a NFL linebacker.

Speed is the name of Murray’s game, with a slashing style that gets him into the offensive backfield with ease. His aggressiveness allows him to get into a position to make a play for the defense. His first step gets him in the position to make plays, very decisive. His range is sideline to sideline.
When Murray sets his sights on a ball carrier, can be very explosive in his tackle attempt. He often times with go through the ball carrier, which are much highlight worthy plays. He doesn’t show any problems in wrapping up to bring down the ball carrier, and rarely loses his grasp.
What he might do better than anything is shoot the gaps. Can provide some pass rush on blitz packages. His quickness allows Murray to get to quarterback or back much quicker than mosts. Great hustle and motor that coaches will salivate over.
While one might point to his aggressiveness as a positive, it can also bite him. Murray can overrun the flow of a play that allows the back an easy cutback option. Better play recognition through film study will also help Murray make better decisions.
Despite his strength, Murray needs to be better with technique when taking on blocks. If he doesn’t stay clean, will struggle to make the play on defense. Hand fighting will need to improve with shedding blocks and rushing the passer.
