Arizona Coyotes at Ottawa Senators odds, picks, and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Arizona Coyotes at Ottawa Senators odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Arizona Coyotes (18-36-4) play the fourth contest of a five-game East Coast road trip against the Ottawa Senators (21-32-5) at the Canadian Tire Centre Monday. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we look at the Coyotes vs. Senators odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Coyotes have come alive lately and have won four of their last five games while rolling up 24 goals across the win four victories. That includes an 8-5 victory in Arizona against the Senators March 5.

The Senators saw a modest two-game win streak snapped Saturday when the visiting Chicago Blackhawks doubled them up 6-3. The Sens have posted a 2-6-1 record in the past nine games at CTC, averaging just 1.89 goals per game during the stretch.

Coyotes at Senators odds, spread and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 7:30 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Coyotes +135 (bet $100 to win $135) | Senators -170 (bet $170 to win $100)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Coyotes +1.5 (-190) | Senators -1.5 (+145)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 5.5 (O: -125 | U: +100)

Coyotes at Senators projected goalies

Scott Wedgewood (9-13-3, 3.17 GAA, .906 SV%) vs. Filip Gustavsson (3-9-1, 3.66 GAA, .896 SV%)

Wedgewood was the backstop in the first meeting with the Senators on March 5. He allowed 5 goals on 46 shots to pick up the victory as he received 8 goals of offensive support.

Gustavsson has dropped six consecutive starts, with his last victory coming Nov. 13 against the Pittsburgh Penguins. He has allowed 3 or more goals in six of his past seven outings.

Coyotes at Senators odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Coyotes 5, Senators 3

Money line

The COYOTES (+135) don’t win very many games on the road, but they’re a tremendous value here.

Arizona has been red-hot lately, which isn’t something you get to say very often. It will stay hot and pick up the victory against a Senators side which has no business being favored by this much against anybody.

Against the spread

The Coyotes +1.5 (-190) will cost you nearly two times your potential return. That’s just way too expensive, and they’re a much better play straight up.

PASS.

Over/Under

The OVER 5.5 (-125) is the best play on the board in this battle between cellar dwellers. These teams combined for 13 total goals in Arizona March 5, more than doubling the total of 5.5 goals in the first meeting.

The Over has hit in the past two for the Sens, with Ottawa averaging 3.7 goals per game in the previous three outings. The Over is 3-1 in the previous four contests for Arizona, with the offense averaging a gaudy 6.0 GPG during the stretch.

Dallas Stars at Ottawa Senators odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Sunday’s Dallas Stars at Ottawa Senators odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Dallas Stars (1-1-0) faces the Ottawa Senators (1-1-0) Sunday at Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa. Puck drop is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Stars vs. Senators odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Stars opened the season with a 3-2 overtime win in New York against the Rangers, cashing as slight underdogs. Dallas then played in Boston Saturday, falling 3-1. C Luke Glendening was the only goal scorer for the Stars.

The Senators also played Saturday in Toronto, capping off a home-and-home with their provincial rivals. After winning 3-2 in the opener Thursday, Ottawa also fell 3-1 in its game Saturday, with C Josh Norris accounting for the only offense.

Stars at Senators projected goalies

Anton Khudobin (1-0-0, 0.00 GAA, 1.000 SV%) vs. Filip Gustavsson (5-1-2, 2.16 GAA, .933 SV% in 2020-21)

Khudobin appeared in relief of Braden Holtby in the opener, coming on with just under 12 minutes left in regulation after Holtby had his helmet knocked off. Khudobin finished up and won the game in overtime.

Gustavsson hasn’t appeared in the first two games with Anton Forsberg handling the chores. But with the quick turnaround, Gustavsson gets his first shot of the season.

Stars at Senators odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Stars 3, Senators 2

Money line

The STARS (-145) are a good play in this second end of a back-to-back. Normally, it wouldn’t really be a recommended play to take Dallas. It is 4-11 in the past 15 with no rest, and they just traveled in from Boston, which is even more challenging this season with COVID protocols, etc.

However, the Senators (+120) also had to travel after an emotional game in Toronto. And they’re a dismal 11-40 in the previous 51 when playing in the second end of a back-to-back situation.

Against the spread

The Senators +1.5 (-230) are a little on the expensive side if you want insurance for the home team. Yes, Ottawa is 6-0 in its past six at home, including 6-0 in the past six as a home underdog. But I like Khudobin and the visitors just a little bit better, especially because they have played a good brand of defense to start the season.

AVOID.

Over/Under

UNDER 5.5 (-115) is the best play on the board. While it’s still obviously early in the season, both of these teams might be a tad sluggish in a matinee game after playing on the prior evening. The schedule maker did not do these teams a favor, but Under bettors should be able to take advantage.

Ottawa Senators at Calgary Flames odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Sunday’s Ottawa Senators at Calgary Flames odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Ottawa Senators (22-27-5) travel to meet the Calgary Flames (22-26-3) Sunday. Puck drop is scheduled for an 8 p.m. ET at Scotiabank Saddledome. Below, we analyze the Senators-Flames odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

The Senators have struggled this season, but they’re finishing up strong. They have won three in a row, and five of the past six while going 8-1-1 across the past 10.

The Flames were blanked by the visiting Winnipeg Jets last time out Wednesday, and they have dropped three of the past four outings while scoring a total of five goals during the stretch.

Senators at Flames: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 9:35 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Senators +160 (bet $100 to win $160) | Flames -190 (bet $190 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Senators +1.5 (-150) | Flames -1.5 (+125)
  • Over/Under: 6 (O: -105 | U: -115)

Senators at Flames: Projected starting goalies

Anton Forsberg (3-3-1, 2.87 GAA, .917 SV%) vs. Jacob Markstrom (18-19-2, 2.70 GAA, .904 SV%, 3 SO)

Forsberg has picked up victories in each of his past two starts. He has yet to face the Calgary Flames this season.

Markstrom has dropped each of his two starts in May, falling below .500 overall. While he has a dismal 0-3-1 record against the Flames in four starts this season, he has a solid 2.49 GAA and .894 SV%.

Senators at Flames: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Senators 4, Flames 2

Money line (ML)

The SENATORS (+160) are a strong value, as they have won nine of their past 11 games overall, while the Flames (-190) are struggling mightily.

While the Sens have had trouble playing on no rest, they’re still worth playing lightly. Ottawa has won five of the past six as an underdog, and Calgary is just 3-5 in the past eight overall.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

If you’re not feeling the SENATORS +1.5 (-150) straight up, they’re not terribly expensive if you’d like a little bit of insurance.

Still, they’re a much better value straight up since they’ve been red hot, and the Flames have been ice cold.

Over/Under (O/U)

O/U 6 is a not a good play. The best play here might be playing the alternate line of UNDER 6.5 (-140) for a small-unit wager.

The Under has hit in four straight for the Flames, while going 3-1-2 in the past six on the road for the Sens.

Toronto Maple Leafs at Ottawa Senators odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Sunday’s Toronto Maple Leafs at Ottawa Senators NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Toronto Maple Leafs (19-8-2) come off a 5-2 loss against the Winnipeg Jets on home ice Saturday and make the short trip to the nation’s capital to visit the Ottawa Senators (9-20-1) Sunday at Canadian Tire Centre. Puck drop will be at 7 p.m. ET between the North Division rivals. Below, we analyze the Maple Leafs-Senators odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

The Maple Leafs maintain a four-point lead over the Jets atop the North Division while the Senators are in last place in the all-Canadian division. Toronto leads this season series 3-1-1.

Ottawa last played Friday in a 6-2 loss to the Edmonton Oilers on the road. The Sens were swept 3-0 and were outscored 16-5 in the series. Toronto is 1-4-0 in its last five games.

Maple Leafs at Senators: Odds, spread and lines

  • Money line: Maple Leafs -250 (bet $250 to win $100) | Senators +210 (bet $100 to win $210)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Maple Leafs -1.5 (+110) | Senators +1.5 (-135)
  • Over/Under: 6.5 (O: -120 | U: +100)

Maple Leafs at Senators: Projected starting goalies

Michael Hutchinson (3-2-0, .934 SV%, 2.03 GAA) vs. Matt Murray (7-12-1, .880 SV%, 3.84 GAA)

The Leafs will give Frederik Andersen the night off on the second half of a back-to-back and Jack Campbell remains out due to a lower-body injury. Hutchinson allowed 3 goals on 28 shots in a loss to the Vancouver Canucks March 4, and he stopped 34 of 37 shots in a win over Sens last month.

Murray’s troubles with consistency continue. He gave up 7 goals on 36 shots in a loss to the Oilers Wednesday. He has alternated wins and losses over his last five games following a three-game win streak. He is 1-3-0 with an .880 SV% and 3.72 GAA in four games against the Leafs this season.

Maple Leafs at Senators: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Senators 4, Maple Leafs 3

Money line (ML)

The rested SENATORS (+210) are the play with the Maple Leafs coming off a Saturday game and stuck in their worst stretch of the season. Ottawa has two wins and three losses in this head-to-head season series and has played the Leafs well other than a 7-3 loss in the last meeting. Two losses were by single-goal margins.

Prior to back-to-back losses to the Oilers by scores of 7-1 and 6-2 Wednesday and Friday, respectively, Ottawa had won four straight games following a loss by 3 or more goals.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

There’s still value with the SENATORS +1.5 (-135) to stay within a 1-goal margin in a loss. Only one of their three losses to the Leafs was by 2 or more goals.

Ottawa is 14-16 ATS as an underdog in every game but Toronto is just 12-17 ATS while favored in all but one game.

Over/Under (O/U)

Back the OVER 6.5 (+100) at even-money in this sixth meeting of the season between the Senators and Maple Leafs. The series is 3-2 against the Over/Under, Toronto has played to three straight Overs and Ottawa hit the Over in five of its last six games.

Ottawa Senators at Edmonton Oilers odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Ottawa Senators at Edmonton Oilers NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Ottawa Senators (9-18-1) and Edmonton Oilers (16-11-0) play the second game of a three-game set at Rogers Place Wednesday. Puck drop will be at 8 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Senators-Oilers odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

The Senators are 1-3-0 four games into a six-game road trip. They followed a 4-3 shootout win over the Calgary Flames Sunday with a 3-2 loss to the Oilers Monday. Edmonton was up 3-1 late before Sens rookie LW Tim Stutzle cut the margin in half with 2:03 to go.

The Oilers have won back-to-back games over the Flames and Senators. They lost their previous three following a five-game win streak. They’ll play eight of 10 games on the road after this series.

Senators at Oilers: Odds, spread and lines

  • Money line: Senators +200 (bet $100 to win $200) | Oilers -250 (bet $250 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Senators +1.5 (-130) | Oilers -1.5 (+105)
  • Over/Under: 6.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Senators at Oilers: Projected starting goalies

Matt Murray (7-11-1, .885 SV%, 3.66 GAA) at Mike Smith (7-2-0, .925 SV%, 2.29 GAA)

Murray had the night off Monday after stopping 31 of 34 shots in the victory over the Flames. He allowed 4 and 6 goals in two losses to the Flames in his past four games. He has won two or more games in a row just once this season.

Smith has been the better of the two regular Oilers goaltenders but in a much smaller sample size. He gave up 6 goals on 32 shots to the Toronto Maple Leafs last Wednesday but bounced back to allow just 2 goals on 36 shots in a win over the Flames Saturday.

Senators at Oilers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Senators 4, Oilers 3

Money line (ML)

The SENATORS (+200) should be primed to double your money after losing by just a single goal Monday. RW Evgenii Dadonov opened the scoring just 0:56 into the game.

The Oilers certainly have the more potent offense with 3.19 goals scored per game to the Senators’ 2.64, but both allow over 3 goals per game and both successfully kill under 77% of penalties.

Ottawa and Edmonton are 16th and 17th, respectively, in Corsi For percentage at 5-on-5, and they’re 19th and 20th, respectively, in scoring chances at full strength.

TAKE THE SENATORS (+200) to win in a game that should be priced closer to a pick ’em.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

There has been value in backing the SENATORS +1.5 (-130) due to their skewed money line prices for much of the season. They’re a quality 14-14 ATS while being underdogs in every game. Edmonton is just 11-16 ATS.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 6.5 (-110) is the play with Murray still struggling mightily with consistency and Smith prone to high scores, as well.

All four head-to-head meetings played to the Under, but there’s some correction coming with both teams ranked in the top 10 of the league in shots on goal per game.

Calgary Flames at Ottawa Senators odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Thursday’s Calgary Flames at Ottawa Senators NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Calgary Flames (9-9-2) continue their Eastern Canada road trip with the first game of three straight against the Ottawa Senators (6-14-1) at Canadian Tire Centre. Thursday’s puck drop will be at 7 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Flames-Senators odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

The two sides will play a total of five head-to-head games between Thursday and Sunday, March 7. They haven’t met yet this season in the all-Canadian North Division. They split their two-game series 1-1 last season with both teams winning on home ice.

Calgary’s coming off a 2-1 overtime loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs Wednesday night. Ottawa was off following a surprising two-game sweep of the Montreal Canadiens Sunday and Tuesday; they won 5-4 via a shootout Tuesday.

Flames at Senators: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 8:15 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Flames -175 (bet $175 to win $100) | Senators +150 (bet $100 to win $150)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Flames -1.5 (+145) | Senators +1.5 (-175)
  • Over/Under: 6.5 (O: +100 | U: -120)

Flames at Senators: Projected starting goalies

Jacob Markstrom (8-6-1, .909 SV%, 2.87 GAA) at Matt Murray (4-9-1, .883 SV%, 3.66 GAA)

Markstrom sat out Wednesday’s game due to an upper-body injury, but an extra day of rest should have him back in the crease. He lost back-to-back games to the Vancouver Canucks and Edmonton Oilers Wednesday and Saturday with a total of 10 goals allowed on 44 shots; he was pulled early both times.

Murray was in net for both wins over the Canadiens and stopped 62 of 68 shots faced. Backup Marcus Hogberg remains sidelined by a lower-body injury, so Murray should get an extended run in net.

Flames at Senators: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Senators 4, Flames 3

Money line (ML)

Back the SENATORS (+150) as home underdogs once again. Though they’re still buried in last place in the North Division, the Sens have gone 4-2 over their last six games. The Flames are 2-3-1 over the same stretch.

The Flames received a strong effort from backup G David Rittich Wednesday, but Markstrom has been bad of late and may still be a little banged up. The Sens get the edge in the goalie battle.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The SENATORS +1.5 (-175) can also be backed with the goal of insurance on the puck line. They’ve lost by 2 or more goals just three times in their last 10 games, and the Flames have won by 2 or more three times in their last 10 outings.

Calgary is 11th in the NHL with a 5-on-5 Corsi For percentage of 50.80 while Ottawa is right behind at 50.50%.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the OVER 6.5 (+100) with Markstrom struggling between the pipes and the Senators still allowing a league-high 4.00 goals per game.

Calgary’s 21.05% power-play success rate is likely to strike against Ottawa’s 24th-ranked penalty kill of 75.36%.

Montreal Canadiens at Ottawa Senators odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Tuesday’s Montreal Canadiens at Ottawa Senators NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Montreal Canadiens (9-5-3) play the back end of a two-game set on the road against the Ottawa Senators (5-14-1) Tuesday for a 7 p.m. ET puck drop at Canadian Tire Centre. Below we analyze the Canadiens-Senators NHL odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Canadiens at Senators: Odds, spread and lines

  • Money line: Canadiens -250 (bet $250 to win $100) | Senators +200 (bet $100 to win $200)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Canadiens -1.5 (+115) | Senators +1.5 (-140)
  • Over/Under: 6 (O: -120 | U: +100)

Canadiens at Senators: Projected starting goalies

Carey Price (5-3-2, 2.87 GAA, .893 SV%) at Matt Murray (3-9-1, 3.66 GAA, .883 SV%)

Price is projected to be back in the crease after G Jake Allen suffered a 3-2 overtime loss in Ottawa Sunday despite 36 saves. Price needed a breather after coughing up five goals on 27 shots in a 5-3 loss at home against the Toronto Maple Leafs Saturday. Price has lost three of the past four starts, allowing three or more goals in three of those games.

Murray won Sunday’s game in OT against the Canadiens. It was his first win in six appearances since Feb. 4 when he topped the Habs in Montreal. There’s just something about facing the Canadiens that Murray rather enjoys. He is 2-1-0 with a 1.97 GAA and .941 SV% in three starts against Montreal this season.

Canadiens at Senators: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Senators 3, Canadiens 2

Money line (ML)

Sometimes a team, or a goaltender, just has something on another team. The SENATORS (+200) are a good play based upon Murray’s solid showings against the Canadiens this season. The public is loading up on the Habs, not trusting that the Sens can sweep a two-game set on home ice. But Murray has a lot of confidence against Montreal, and it’s a good chance to double up your investment.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The SENATORS +1.5 (-140) are actually worth a small-unit play if you don’t trust them to pull the moderate upset at home. Normally, I am not a big fan of playing the underdog on the puck line, but they’re worth a look based on their previous results against the Canadiens.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 6 (+100) is the best play based upon trends and the fact this bet is on even money. The Under has hit in five straight at home for the Sens, while going 8-2-1 in the past 11 games overall. The Under is also 6-1 in the past seven overall for the Habs, while going 5-0 in their past five as favorites. In this series, the Under has cashed in seven straight meetings, including the past four at Canadian Tire Centre.

Marcus Hogberg (2-5-0, .860 SV%, 4.32 GAA) vs. Frederik Andersen (9-3-2, .901 SV%, 2.79 GAA)

Hogberg has quickly turned his season around with starter Matt Murray temporarily sidelined by a neck injury. After stopping 30 of 31 shots in a road win over the Winnipeg Jets Saturday, he made 33 saves on 38 shots against the Leafs and was much better than the stat line in giving his team a fighting chance.

Andersen has taken back-to-back losses and his 6 goals allowed Monday were the most he has surrendered in a start this season. He had given up just 6 goals in his previous four outings while going 3-1-0 and posting a .950 SV%.

Senators at Maple Leafs: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Maple Leafs 4, Senators 1

Money line (ML)

The Maple Leafs will likely get back on track Wednesday, but we have to chase the value and back SENATORS (+275) with a small money line bet. Following Monday’s valiant effort, they’ve now taken two of three from the Leafs this season.

Still, Monday’s result is sure to motivate both sides coming into the rematch and that’ll play in Toronto’s favor. Andersen, in particular, will want to quickly wipe away the humbling loss. We’ll back Toronto on the spread, but there’s great value in taking Ottawa at this inflated number.

Against the spread (ATS)

The MAPLE LEAFS -1.5 (-125) are so heavily favored we need to pay into the vig for a 2-goal win and that’s OK. Toronto led 2-1 after the first period and 5-1 until the 19:51 mark of the second before seeing its lead evaporate Monday.

Total shot attempts, including blocked and missed shots, were split 50-50 at 5-on-5 and the Leafs registered 53.45% of the scoring chances at full strength. Toronto still has a 15-point lead in the North Division and will put forth a better 60-minute effort following Monday’s embarrassment.

Over/Under (O/U)

Back the UNDER 6.5 (+105) while counting on a much better effort from Andersen.

The Sens were 0-6-1 against the Over/Under in their previous seven games before Monday’s barn burner. The Leafs were on a run of four straight Under results.

Ottawa Senators at Winnipeg Jets odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Thursday’s Ottawa Senators at Winnipeg Jets NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Ottawa Senators (2-11-1) visit the Winnipeg Jets (7-4-1) for the first game of another two-game set in the all-Canadian North Division. Thursday’s puck drop at Bell MTS Place will be at 8 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Senators-Jets NHL odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The Jets swept a three-game set in Ottawa from Jan. 19-23. They won all three games over the Senators by a combined score of 14-7 and won each of the last two games of the series by 3-goal margins.

Senators at Jets: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 12:55 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Senators +180 (bet $100 to win $180) | Jets -225 (bet $225 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Senators +1.5 (-125) | Jets -1.5 (+105)
  • Over/Under: 6 (O: -115 | U: -105)

Senators at Jets: Projected starting goalies

Matt Murray (2-6-1, .886 SV%, 2.65 GAA) vs. Connor Hellebuyck (5-3-1, .911 SV%, 2.55 GAA)

Murray was forced into action in relief of backup Marcus Hogberg Tuesday and stopped all 9 Edmonton Oilers shots in just under 35 minutes of action. The veteran has a .947 save percentage over his last four appearances.

Hellebuyck’s shot count has been down a little bit this season, as he has faced 30 or more shots just twice in his nine games after leading the league in shots faced each of the last two seasons. He took the loss his last time out against the Calgary Flames with 3 goals allowed on 29 shots.

Senators at Jets: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Senators 3, Jets 2

Money line (ML)

The SENATORS (+180) are worth backing for the road upset with Murray back in net and in top form recently. Ottawa vastly outplayed Edmonton Tuesday but was undone by a poor goaltending performance from Hogberg.

The Senators’ Corsi For, expected goals and scoring chance metrics at 5-on-5 have been trending up in recent games, and they actually have a narrow edge over the Jets in total shot attempts, including blocked and missed shots, at full strength.

Special teams play has been a major weakness for Ottawa, but the value is right for a team much improved in 5-on-5 play from when these two teams met a few weeks ago.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The Jets are so heavily favored on the money line that there’s actually plenty of value in a play on the SENATORS +1.5 (-125) to stay within 1 goal in a loss.

Two of the Senators’ last three losses were played within a single-goal margin, and the other loss required an empty-netter from the Oilers. Three of Winnipeg’s last four games were decided by a single goal as the Jets went 1-1-1 in those contests.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the UNDER 6 (-105) in a goaltending matchup between the reigning Vezina Trophy winner and a rapidly improving Murray.

There are some concerns over penalty trouble in a physical game, but the Sens can win a low-scoring game if the majority of it is played at even strength.

Ottawa Senators at Edmonton Oilers odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Tuesday’s Ottawa Senators at Edmonton Oilers NHL odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Ottawa Senators (1-7-1) and Edmonton Oilers (5-6-0) clash for the second time in three days at Rogers Place Tuesday. Puck drop is set for 10 p.m. ET following the Oilers’ 8-5 win Sunday night. Below, we analyze the Senators-Oilers NHL odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Senators at Oilers: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 11:45 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Senators +190 (bet $100 to win $190) | Oilers -225 (bet $225 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Senators +1.5 (-140) | Oilers -1.5 (+115)
  • Over/Under: 6.5 (O: -140 | U: +115)

Senators at Oilers: Projected starting goalies

Matt Murray (1-4-1, .849 SV%, 4.82 GAA) vs. Mikko Koskinen (4-6-0, .895 SV%, 3.45 GAA)

Murray has allowed at least 3 goals in all seven games in which he has played and was pulled after allowing 3 goals on just 9 shots in only 7:20 of action Sunday. It was the second time he has been pulled early this season.

Koskinen had a night off Sunday and will play for the first time since stopping 26 of 29 shots in a win over the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs Saturday. He has allowed 3-plus goals in each of his last five games, but he has two wins in that span.

Senators at Oilers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Oilers 6, Senators 3

Money line (ML)

The Oilers (-225) are the obvious play, but we don’t need to risk it for the small profit available on the money line. The rebuilding Senators have been spiraling downward after a couple of promising early performances.

There aren’t any significant changes on the horizon and that doesn’t bode well for hope of improvement.

PASS on the money line and back the Oilers to win by 2 or more goals on the spread.

Against the spread (ATS)

The Senators registered 63.95% of the total shot attempts at 5-on-5, including blocked and missed shots, and 55.81% of the scoring chances at full strength. Alas, the Oilers went 4-for-5 on the power play in the game and led 5-3 after the first period after chasing Murray inside the first 8 minutes.

Defense and goaltending are the biggest weaknesses for Ottawa, and that’s all Edmonton bettors need to hear. Bet OILERS -1.5 (+115) to win by at least 2 goals.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 6.5 (-140) is the play once again after Sunday’s game easily eclipsed a projected total of 6.5 goals, as well.

The Sens have lost six straight games by multi-goal margins and Murray’s aforementioned struggles aren’t being cleaned up by backup Marcus Hogberg. The onslaught will continue at Rogers Place.
