4-star RB Christian Clark announces commitment following visit to Oregon

4-star RB Christian Clark announces commitment following visit to Oregon

Following his official visit to Eugene to check out the Oregon Ducks a week couple of weeks ago, 4-star running back Christian Clark announced his commitment on Thursday morning.

Clark will be committing to the Texas Longhorns, choosing them over the likes of Oregon, Georgia, and Florida State.

Clark is rated as the No. 23 RB in the 2024 class, and the No. 286 overall player in the nation. He is from Phoenix, Arizona, and in his junior season, he gathered 1110 yards along with 17 TDs.

The Ducks still have a number of RB targets in the 2024 class, including Mater Dei’s Nathaniel Frazier, who Oregon is in a battle with Georgia to land. Frazier ranks as the No. 4 RB in the class, and No. 58 overall player. The Ducks are also in the mix for 4-star Jason Brown and 4-star Ca’lil Valentine as well.

Ducks pick up a pair of predictions to land elite 4-star players in 2024 class

The Ducks picked up predictions to land the No. 60 overall player and No. 175 overall player in the 2024 class on Thursday.

The Oregon Ducks are in the middle of official visit season at the moment, and it appears that things are going swimmingly for Dan Lanning and his staff.

While there are loads of high-end 4-star players and a handful of 5-stars both on campus and expected in Eugene over the coming days, a pair of predictions came in for the Ducks to get commitments from the blue-chip players on Thursday morning.

According to 247Sports’ analyst Steve Wiltfong, the Ducks are trending to land 4-star LB Dylan Williams and 4-star OT JacQawn McRoy.

Williams is rated as the No. 17 LB and No. 175 overall player in the class of 2024, and he took his official visit to Eugene last week. McRoy is expected on campus for his official visit this week, but the 6-foot-8, 365-pounder is rated as the No. 3 OT, and No. 60 overall player in the 2024 class.

The Ducks currently have the No. 8 recruiting class in the 2024 cycle, but if they were able to land both Williams and McRoy, it would bump them up to the No. 6 spot in the nation.

Here is some more info on the two prospects.

Ducks hold strong in ESPN’s latest Future Power Rankings; Six Pac-12 teams ranked

At this point in the offseason, any energy in the world of college football that is not spent focused on recruiting is usually reserved for projections and rankings. We look at player rankings, coaching rankings, stadium rankings, uniform rankings, or any type of other ranking you can think of. We often marry those two subjects and look at recruiting rankings as well.

While the rankings for the 2023 season are largely covered, one thing that ESPN does each summer is broaden the scope and release their future power rankings, taking the next three years into account and trying to project which teams are in the best position going forward.

“It assesses how current and future players will impact performance for their teams,” ESPN’s Adam Rittenburg wrote. “Recent recruiting or projected success in 2023 carries weight. But some programs consistently outperform their recruiting rankings and deserve to be recognized appropriately in the team list.”

The expected Pac-12 upturn in 2023 is seen in the future power rankings as well, with a total of six teams making their way into the top 25. Here’s how the Oregon Ducks fare compared to the rest of the nation in the 2023 rankings.

Former 4-star Oregon WR officially flips commitment to Penn State

Former 4-star Oregon WR officially flips commitment to Penn State

The writing was on the wall after 4-star wide receiver Tyseer Denmark decommitted from the Oregon Ducks following an official visit to the Penn State Nittany Lions.

Denmark made it official on Wednesday, committing the Penn State and solidifying his spot on the Nittany Lions roster in the class of 2024.

Rated as the No. 237 overall player and No. 33 WR in the class of 2024, losing Denmark is not ideal for Dan Lanning and the Ducks, but it’s not a blow that will sink their recruiting class, either. While Oregon has the three aforementioned receivers already committed, they are also in really good shape to pick up commitments from 4-star WR Gatlin Bair (No. 9 WR, No. 36 player in 2024), 4-star WR Jeremiah McClellan (No. 17 WR, No. 92 player in 2024), and 4-star WR Ryan Pellum (No. 14 WR, No. 69 player in 2024).

The Ducks got a couple of early commitments from 4-star WR Tyseer Denmark and 4-star WR Jordan Anderson, and they’ve continued to build the WR room by picking up 4-star WR Dillon Gresham and 3-star WR Jack Ressler as well. The recent additions may have over-crowded the room in some minds, leading Denmark to ultimately decommit and flip to Penn State.

Massive list of blue-chip recruits set to arrive in Eugene for visits this week

A trio of 5-stars and over a dozen 4-stars all expected in Eugene this week. The latest updated list of Oregon Duck visitors.

The month of June has quickly become one of the most important times of year in the world of recruiting for college football programs. While the thick of the offseason is in full swing, we get a chance to see coaches and staff host some players from across the nation for both official and unofficial visits.

Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks have been incredibly busy over the past couple of weeks, hosting some of the top-rated players in the nation. That doesn’t look to be changing any time soon, as another long list of prospects is set to flock to Eugene over the coming days and into the weekend for more visits. We are expecting to see both some of the top committed players in Oregon’s 2024 class take their official visits, as well as some of the best uncommitted players in the nation, including multiple 5-star players in the 2024 and 2025 classes.

Here is a full list of player who we have confirmed will be in Eugene at some point this week or this weekend:

New Pac-12 team jumps into No. 2 spot for 2024 conference recruiting rankings

The Pac-12 has a new hot team that’s joined the Ducks near the top of the rankings, fighting for a top-10 spot nationally.

Over the past decade or so, the Oregon Ducks have been a mainstay near the top of the recruiting rankings in the Pac-12 conference. If they didn’t hold the number 1 spot, you didn’t have to look very far down the ranks before you saw the Ducks.

That remains the case in 2024. Though the USC Trojans got a late commitment in the class of 2023 to take the final No. 1 spot in the conference rankings, the Ducks have gotten out to a blazing hot start in the 2024 class, where they now rank No. 7 nationally.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Dan Lanning is continuing to recruit at a great clip. However, one thing that has surprised us so far is how successful Troy Taylor has been in his first cycle as the Stanford Cardinal head coach.

Stanford has picked up a handful of blue-chip players over the last couple of weeks, and they are now in the thick of the race for the top spot out west, as well as a top-10 spot in the national rankings.

Take a look at the latest Pac-12 recruiting rankings midway through the month of June:

4-star WR lists final schools of Oregon and USC ahead of official visit to Eugene

4-star WR lists final schools of Oregon and USC ahead of official visit to Eugene

The storied Oregon Ducks vs. USC Trojans recruiting rivalry that has been built up over the past couple of decades is once again heating up in the class of 2024.

After the two teams battled for recruits like Josh Conerly, Jahlil Florence, Duce Robinson, and several others over the past couple of years, it is now 4-star WR Ryan Pellum who will decide between Ducks and Trojans going forward.

Pellum, who is rated as the No. 69 overall player and No. 14 WR in 2024, announced on Monday that those two schools would be his primary focus going forward.

Pellum took an official visit to USC last weekend, and he is set to take an official visit to Oregon this coming weekend. We will see how quickly he makes his decision after weighing both options next week.

Oregon 4-star WR Tyseer Denmark decommits from Ducks, expected to filp to Penn State

4-star WR Tyseer Denmark decommitted from Oregon on Sunday following an official visit to Penn State over the weekend.

The Oregon Ducks have done a great job of recruiting and getting verbal commitments from wide receiver talent in the 2024 class, but that sometimes comes at a cost, unfortunately.

The Ducks got a couple of early commitments from 4-star WR Tyseer Denmark and 4-star WR Jordan Anderson, and they’ve continued to build the WR room by picking up 4-star WR Dillon Gresham and 3-star WR Jack Ressler as well. However, the recent additions may have over-crowded the room in some minds, as Denmark reportedly decommitted from Oregon on Sunday. Denmark is now expected to flip his commitment to the Penn State Nittany Lions.

Denmark was on an official visit to Penn State over the weekend.

We will see over the coming weeks and months how the Ducks are able to build out the rest of their WR room after Denmark’s departure, but for fans who are panicking about the decommitment, I’m here to assure you that this isn’t something that was unexpected from the Oregon staff.

4-Star ATH Rahshawn Clark names Oregon Ducks as a top school

4-Star ATH Rahshawn Clark names Oregon Ducks as a top school

Each day it seems another high school star names the Oregon Ducks as one of their top options for where they would like to play college football. One of those players that we missed back in April was 4-star ATH, Rahshawn Clark. On April 23rd, Clark named his top six schools, which included the Ducks. Of the other five schools, three were also in the Pac-12. Clark is a native of Washington and seems to like the west coast.

In high school, Clark has played both in a TE/WR role and as an LB. On offense, some of Clark’s biggest strengths are bringing down contested catches and making tacklers miss when given space in the open field. As a defender, Clark shows an aptitude for both rushing the passer and dropping back into zone coverage from the OLB position. At the collegiate level, I think Clark will just be a pass catcher, due to his lack of the size required of a Divison 1 OLB, as he is currently 6’0″ and 180 lbs. However, if he is to grow a few more inches and add weight, he could become an elite defender at the college level, regardless of where he ends up.

Visit photos and reactions from blue-chip recruits after OV weekend in Eugene

A handful of 5-stars and even more high-end 4-stars were in Eugene for official and unofficial visits this weekend. Check out their visit photos and reactions.

The official visits ramped up for the Oregon Ducks over the past week.

While the first weekend in June saw guys like 4-star RB Christian Clark, 4-star LB Dylan Williams, and 4-star CB Aaron Scott take a trip out to Eugene to see Dan Lanning and the Ducks, we only saw the heat get turned up this past week at Autzen Stadium.

Guys like 5-star EDGE Elijah Rushing, 5-star LB Justin Williams, and 5-star CB Kobe Black all made their way out to Oregon for official or unofficial visits, with 4-stars like RB Nathaniel Frazier and WR Gatlin Bair doing the same.

While a ton of focus was on the guys Oregon wants to bring into the fold, we also saw a ton of current Duck commits come back home for their OVs as well. That list of players included 4-star DL Xadavien Sims, 4-star S Aaron Flowers, 3-star QB Luke Moga, and 3-star TE Jackson Ford.

As you would expect, the visit photos were plenty, and the reactions were positive. Here is a mix of what recruits are saying after the weekend in Eugene:
