Alex’s best bet: Georgia at Ole Miss prediction

SportsbookWire.com’s Alex White likes a side in Saturday’s SEC showdown between Georgia and Old Miss.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

SportsbookWire.com’s Alex White is focused on Saturday’s SEC showdown in Oxford for her best bet when the defending champion Georgia Bulldogs (7-1, 5-1 SEC) visit the Ole Miss Rebels (7-2, 3-2). Kickoff from Vaught-Hemingway Stadium is slated for 3:30 p.m. ET and will be televised on ABC.

Georgia is No. 2 in the US LBM Coaches Poll, while Ole Miss is No. 12. As of Friday at 10:39 p.m. ET, BetMGM Sportsbook has Georgia favored by 1.5 points — the Bulldogs were -2.5 earlier in the day.

Georgia leads the all-time series 33-12-1 — Ole Miss had a win in 2016 vacated. The Bulldogs rolled in the most recent meeting, cruising to a 52-17 victory last November as an 11-point home favorite and nearly hitting the Over (59) by themselves.

Listen below to why this is Alex’s best bet.

Make sure to catch Alex on Sports By the Book Saturday 11 a.m.-noon ET, and Sunday through Wednesday noon-1 p.m. ET, and on Punch Lines every Monday and Wednesday 3 p.m.-4 p.m. ET — live from the South Point Sportsbook in Las Vegas. Follow @alexwhitee on Twitter/X.

Ole Miss at Arkansas odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Ole Miss at Arkansas odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The No. 18 Ole Miss Rebels (6-2, 2-2 SEC) take on the Arkansas Razorbacks (5-3, 3-2) Saturday. Kickoff from Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium is set for noon ET (ESPN). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Ole Miss vs. Arkansas odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Ole Miss escaped with a 26-14 win over the Oklahoma Sooners Oct. 26, failing to cover as a 19-point favorite. The Rebels scored 16 unanswered points in the second half and forced 2 turnovers in the win. Ole Miss is No. 18 in the US LBM Coaches Poll.

Arkansas destroyed the Mississippi State Bulldogs 58-25 Saturday while covering as a 7.5-point favorite. The Razorbacks put up 673 yards of offense and forced 5 turnovers in the win. Arkansas is looking to pick up back-to-back wins for the 1st time since earlier in the season when the Razorbacks were 3-1.

Ole Miss at Arkansas picks and predictions

Prediction

Ole Miss 31, Arkansas 27

Moneyline

PASS.

Ole Miss will win and cover here as a -300 favorite, but the Rebels are not worth the risk of betting on at this price. Bet the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

BET ARKANSAS +7.5 (-110).

Arkansas has played ranked teams like Texas A&M and Tennessee closely, covering the spread against both and even upsetting Tennessee 19-14. The Razorbacks have also been phenomenal offensively, and while Ole Miss is much better defensively, Arkansas’ offense will keep the Razorbacks in this game.

There is some risk with this bet, as Ole Miss played LSU very closely in a 29-26 loss, while Arkansas was blown out 34-10 by the Tigers.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 54.5 (-105).

With both squads being top 2 in offensive yards per game in the SEC — Ole Miss with 538.1 and Arkansas with 482.1 — while scoring over 30 points a game, the Over is a pretty safe bet. Look for offense to tell the story of this game.

This is a lean because the Under is 4-1 in Arkansas’ last 5 games and 7-1 for Ole Miss this season.

Oklahoma at Ole Miss odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Oklahoma at Ole Miss odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Oklahoma Sooners (4-3, 1-3 SEC) and 18th-ranked Ole Miss Rebels (5-2, 1-2) meet Saturday at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Miss. Kickoff is scheduled for noon ET (ESPN). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Oklahoma vs. Ole Miss odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Oklahoma has had a tough introduction to SEC play. The Sooners dropped their 2nd straight game, and 3rd in the past 4 outings, getting blown out 35-9 against South Carolina of all teams last weekend in Norman. The Oklahoma offense has cobbled together just 12 points in the past 2 losses to USC and Texas.

After the South Carolina loss, the Sooners fired offensive coordinator Seth Littrell after just 7 games as the play caller. Joe Jon Finley, who was the team’s co-OC, will call plays the rest of the way, while offensive analyst Kevin Johns was promoted to QB coach.

Ole Miss suffered a disappointing 29-26 OT loss at LSU last weekend, its 2nd loss in the past 3 outings, albeit both by exactly 3 points. Oddly enough, the Rebels did pound South Carolina in between those 2 setbacks, winning 27-3, covering as 10.5-point favorites.

The Under has cashed in 6 in a row for Lane Kiffin’s Ole Miss side, as the defense has allowed 289.4 total yards per game to rank 13th and just rushing 66.6 rushing yards per game to lead the nation. It is also 2nd in the country with 10.6 points per game allowed.

  • Against the spread: Oklahoma +20.5 (-110) | Ole Miss -20.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 49.5 (O: -105 | U: -115)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4132″ ]

Oklahoma at Ole Miss picks and predictions

Prediction

Ole Miss 29, Oklahoma 18

Moneyline

Ole Miss (-1400) will cost you 14 times your potential return if you were to back the Rebels in their 1st-ever game against Oklahoma (+825) in the Grove. That’s way too much risk for a standalone wager, or as part of a multi-leg parlay. Including the Rebels sucks all of the value out of your ticket.

AVOID.

Against the spread

Backing OKLAHOMA +20.5 (-110) is risky business, as the Sooners have just been awful lately. However, the Rebels have been in some tight games, too, and the changes to the Sooners’ offensive coaching hierarchy should have a positive impact on them.

Ole Miss -20.5 (-110) is a powerhouse offensively, led by QB Jaxson Dart, but lately, it has scored 27 or fewer points in 3 in a row, as something has just been a little off.

Over/Under

UNDER 49.5 (-115) is the play in this SEC battle.

The trends for Ole Miss are driving this Under train, as the total has gone low in 6 straight outings. The Rebels defense is nasty, and that’s not what the Sooners need right now with the offense looking to get untracked.

The Under has a slight 4-3 edge for the Sooners this season, although the Over did cash in their only previous true road game at Auburn, so be careful.

Ole Miss at LSU odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Ole Miss at LSU odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Ole Miss Rebels (5-1, 1-1 SEC) travel to face the LSU Tigers (4-1, 1-0) in a ranked SEC battle Saturday. Kickoff from Tiger Stadium is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (ABC). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Ole Miss vs. LSU odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Ole Miss beat the South Carolina Gamecocks 27-3 Saturday while covering as a 10.5-point favorite. The Rebels amassed 425 total yards, 285 by the air and 140 on the ground, in the blowout win. The 27 points is the lowest the Rebels have scored in a win this year. Ole Miss is No. 8 in the US LBM Coaches Poll.

The Tigers, who are coming off a bye week, destroyed the South Alabama Jaguars 42-10 in their last outing on Sept. 28. LSU covered as a 21-point favorite in the win. LSU has scored at least 30 points in each of its last 4 games, all being wins. LSU, which is No. 10 in the US LBM Coaches Poll, enters on a 5 game win streak.

Ole Miss at LSU picks and predictions

Prediction

Ole Miss 31, LSU 24

Moneyline

PASS.

Ole Miss is the slightly better team, and I like the Rebels to cover here as -165 favorites, but the line is just slightly too risky for me to advise betting on. Bet on the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

BET OLE MISS -3.5 (-105).

Ole Miss is 5-1 ATS this season while LSU is only 1-4 ATS. Ole Miss is also significantly better defensively, allowing only 267.5 yards per game and 7.5 points per game while LSU allows 353.6 YPG and 21.5 PPG.

The Rebels beat South Carolina by 10, while the Tigers beat that same squad by only 3 earlier this year, further showing that Ole Miss is just a tier above LSU.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 62.5 (-115).

The Under has hit in each of Ole Miss’ last 5 games and in LSU’s last 2 games. The Under also hit in LSU’s only matchup vs. a ranked opponent this year, in its opening game vs. USC on Sept. 1.

This is a lean because Ole Miss averages 44 PPG and LSU averages 35.2 PPG.

Ole Miss at South Carolina odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Ole Miss at South Carolina odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Ole Miss Rebels (4-1, 0-1 SEC) meet the South Carolina Gamecocks (3-1, 1-1) in Columbia Saturday. Kickoff at Williams-Brice Stadium is set for 3:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around Ole Miss vs. South Carolina odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Ole Miss dropped from No. 5 to No. 11 in the US LBM Coaches Poll following a 20-17 home loss as a 15.5-point favorite to unranked Kentucky Sept. 28. The loss was only Mississippi’s 2nd defeat since Sept. 30, 2023. The Rebels were undone by the Wildcats controlling the football for 39 minutes and 43 seconds, while Ole Miss’ time of possession was 20 minutes and 17 seconds.

South Carolina heads into this contest off a bye week. The Gamecocks likely needed it as they’re set to open a tough stretch of their schedule with consecutive games against Ole Miss, No. 2 Alabama, No. 17 Oklahoma and No. 21 Texas A&M. The Gamecocks defeated Akron 50-7 as 24.5-point home favorites in their last outing (Sept. 21).

Ole Miss at South Carolina picks and predictions

Prediction

Ole Miss 27, South Carolina 19

Moneyline

No interest. PASS.

Against the spread

USC is 3-1 ATS across its last 4 games as a home underdog.

Ole Miss lost to Kentucky which USC downed 31-6 back on Sept. 7. Look for the Gamecocks to come up with enough havoc plays on defense and explosive plays on offense to keep this one interesting.

FanDuel Sportsbook offers a play with better value on the home side: Consider a partial-unit play on SOUTH CAROLINA +9.5 (-108).

Over/Under

The last 2 meetings in this series produced 2 Overs and a combined 193 points. But look for the Under to have the better leverage in Saturday’s game.

Ole Miss has run a ton of plays through 5 games. Look for South Carolina, which runs a high rate of rushing plays, to want to slow things down.

Both sides have been excellent in preventing 6-pointers in the red zone.

BACK THE UNDER 53.5 (-110).

Kentucky at Ole Miss odds, picks and predictions

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Kentucky Wildcats (2-2, 0-2 SEC) and the 5th-ranked Ole Miss Rebels (4-0, 0-0) meet Saturday in an SEC game at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for noon ET (ABC/ESPN+). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Kentucky vs. Ole Miss odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

There is a 25% chance of precipitation, with winds 9-11 MPH in the forecast due to the remnants of Hurricane Helene, but keep an eye on the weather for potential changes.

Kentucky washed the bad taste of a near-miss against top-ranked Georgia out of its mouth with a 41-6 pounding of the Ohio Bobcats last week, covering as a 21.5-point favorite as the Over (42) cashed for the 1st time this season.

The Wildcats took the Bulldogs to the mat Sept. 14 in Lexington as a 21.5-point underdog, falling 13-12 in an excruciatingly painful game for Big Blue fans. The Wildcats are respectable 3-1 against the spread (ATS) this season, but 1-1 ATS inside the conference, also losing at home to South Carolina 31-6 on Sept. 7 as a 9.5-point favorite. The Under is 2-0 in 2 SEC games, too.

Ole Miss has scored 40 or more points in all 4 games, and 52 or more points in 3 of 4 outings, covering the spread in each contest. The Rebels had its final tune-up prior to conference play last Saturday, paddling Georgia Southern 52-13 as a 35.5-point favorite. The Under has cashed in 3 in a row for the Rebs.

Kentucky at Ole Miss picks and predictions

Prediction

Ole Miss 34, Kentucky 16

Moneyline

Ole Miss (-750) will set you back 7 1/2 times your potential return, and that’s way too much risk and not enough reward. Betting such heavy favorites over the long term is a losing betting strategy. Even tossing the Rebels into a multi-leg parlay is not a good idea, as they suck all of the value out of your ticket.

AVOID, and look to the spread instead.

Against the spread

The OLE MISS -16.5 (-110) offense has been powerful with QB Jaxson Dart under center, and it is worth playing lightly as they try and get the job done against Kentucky +16.5 (-110) in the 1st league game for Lane Kiffin’s Rebels.

The Wildcats have whipped up on Southern Miss and Ohio, but they lost to Georgia and South Carolina, its only 2 Power 4 and league opponents.

Ole Miss has a strong pass offense, and it should be able to negotiate the surprisingly sturdy Kentucky defense, which knocked Georgia QB Carson Beck off kilter.

If this game were in Lexington, and not down in The Grove, the results might be much different.

Over/Under

UNDER 52.5 (-110) is worth a look. While Ole Miss has shown no signs of slowing down offensively, it easily sees its best challenge against Kentucky’s defense.

The Rebels have cashed the Under in the past 3 games, too. While everyone seems to talk about Ole Miss, and its powerful offense, it has allowed just 22 points across 4 games.

Georgia Southern at Ole Miss odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Georgia Southern at Ole Miss odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Georgia Southern Eagles (2-1) and Ole Miss Rebels (3-0) meet Saturday. Kickoff from Vaught-Hemingway Stadium is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. ET (SEC Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Georgia Southern vs. Ole Miss odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Georgia Southern is coming off a cover as a 27.5-point home favorite in a 42-14 win over South Carolina State Sept. 14 with the Over (54) hitting. The Eagles are 3-0 against the spread (ATS) this season, but have covered by an average margin of just 2.2 points per game.

Ole Miss, which is No. 5 in the US LBM Coaches Poll, won 40-6 as a 20.5-point favorite at Wake Forest Sept. 14 as the Under (65.5) cashed. QB Jaxson Dart (25 of 27, 377 yards, 2 total TDs) completed his first 24 passes in the victory to set an SEC record. The Rebels are also 3-0 ATS, covering on average by 17.2 points per game.

Georgia Southern at Ole Miss picks and predictions

Prediction

Ole Miss 52, Georgia Southern 9

Moneyline

BetMGM is not offering a line for Ole Miss ML, but even the best number in market, -7500, is not worth playing.

PASS. Bet the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

Ole Miss has exceeded preseason expectations this year, while Georgia Southern has been somewhat lucky to cover 3 straight games. The Eagles needed a TD in the final 3 minutes from RB Jalen White to cover by a half-point last time out, which has become a recurring theme for Georgia Southern backers this season.

Dart is tied with Alabama QB Jalen Milroe for the 2nd-shortest odds to win the Heisman Trophy (+700 at BetMGM Sportsbook), after opening the season with the 4th-shortest odds (+1400). Dart and the Rebels were undervalued to begin the season, and I’m not looking to fade them until the market overcorrects.

BET OLE MISS -35.5 (-110).

Over/Under

The Under has hit in back-to-back games for Ole Miss, and the defense has allowed a total of just 9 points on the season (2nd in FBS behind Ohio State). The concern here is that Ole Miss could potentially score enough points to practically hit the Over on its own, but I’ll trust its 2nd-ranked defense to help the Under cash for a 3rd straight game.

BET UNDER 67.5 (-110).

Ole Miss at Wake Forest odds, picks and predictions

The Ole Miss Rebels (2-0) and Wake Forest Demon Deacons (1-1) meet Saturday. Kickoff from Allegacy Federal Credit Union Stadium is set for 6:30 p.m. ET (The CW Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Ole Miss vs. Wake Forest odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Ole Miss stomped Middle Tennessee 52-3 Sept. 7 while covering as a 42-point home favorite. The Rebels accumulated 655 yards and committed 0 turnovers while allowing 278 total yards and forcing 2 turnovers despite losing the time of possession battle. The Rebels, who are ranked No. 5 in the US LBM Coaches Poll, have outscored opponents 128-3 this year.

Wake Forest suffered a heartbreaking 31-30 loss vs. the Virginia Cavaliers Sept. 7 as a 1-point home underdog. The Demon Deacons led 30-17 entering the 4th quarter before allowing 2 unanswered TDs to blow the lead despite winning the yardage (544-430) and turnover (1-2) battles.

Ole Miss at Wake Forest picks and predictions

Prediction

Ole Miss 35, Wake Forest 10

Moneyline

PASS.

The Rebels will win as -2500 favorites, but this line is not worth the risk of betting on. Bet the spread and/or O/U instead.

Against the spread

BET OLE MISS -22.5 (-115).

Ole Miss is the much better team, and its offense leads the nation in yards per game, passing yards per game, and points per game. The Rebels offense will be far too much for Wake Forest to handle, and while this is the best competition the Rebels have faced this year, they will still be dominant in this matchup.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 64.5 (-110).

Wake Forest’s offense has looked good thus far, but this Ole Miss defense is very strong and has allowed only 27 rushing yards per game, good for best in the nation. Ole Miss will be able to score, but look for Wake Forest’s offense to be stifled here.

This is a lean simply because of how good Ole Miss’ offense is, as the Rebels are always a threat to put up 50+ in their current state.

Middle Tennessee at Ole Miss odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Middle Tennessee at Ole Miss odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The No. 5 Ole Miss Rebels (1-0) welcome the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders (1-0) to Vaught–Hemingway Stadium Saturday. Kickoff in the Week 2 battle is set for 4:15 p.m. ET (SEC Network). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Middle Tennessee vs. Ole Miss odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Ole Miss is No. 5 in the US LBM Coaches Poll. It throttled Furman 76-0 Aug. 31, covering as a 45-point favorite in its Week 1 battle. Heisman candidate QB Jaxson Dart (+850 at FanDuel Sportsbook) threw for 418 yards and 5 touchdowns while rushing for another score. Mississippi was 7-4-2 against the spread (ATS) last season.

Middle Tennessee also won in Week 1, but was far less impressive. It beat the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles 32-25 yet failed to cover as a 24.5-point favorite, getting outscored 20-11 in the 2nd half. Middle Tennessee dominated on the ground, totaling 118 yards on 33 carries. It was just 4-8 ATS a season ago.

Middle Tennessee at Ole Miss picks and predictions

Prediction

Ole Miss 56, Middle Tennessee 10

Moneyline

PASS.

Even if you can find these odds, avoid them.

Against the spread

BET OLE MISS -42.5 (-115).

Ole Miss destroyed Furman, and it’s not just about the win. It’s more about just how dominant Dart looked. After taking its foot off the gas, the Ole Miss offense still looked virtually unstoppable. Against a Middle Tennessee team that gave up 25 points and won by 7 as a 24.5-point favorite, Ole Miss should be able to come out on top with ease.

The Rebels are the real deal and will continue to show that. As for Middle Tennessee, its struggles in consistently getting tracking on the ground and stopping Tennessee Tech late in the game are concerning. With all that in mind, back OLE MISS -42.5 (-115).

Over/Under

BET OVER 62.5 (-110).

Both teams are 1-0 O/U, and the Blue Raiders’ offensive success in their opener should give some hope that they can contribute to the total Saturday. Middle Tennessee put up 32 points.

It also gave up 25 to a team far, far less potent than Ole Miss. The Rebels should be able to score with ease, as they did on Furman, a game that also topped the total. Take OVER 62.5 (-110).

Vanderbilt at Ole Miss odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Vanderbilt at Ole Miss odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Vanderbilt Commodores (2-6, 0-4 SEC) will travel to face the No. 11 Ole Miss Rebels (6-1, 3-1) in Week 9 on Saturday at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET (SEC Network). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Vanderbilt vs. Ole Miss odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Vanderbilt covered as 32.5-point home underdogs and hit the Over of 55 points despite falling 37-20 to No. 1 Georgia in Week 7. The Commodores are coming off of their bye week, but have lost 6 consecutive games after beginning the season with a 2-0 record.

Ole Miss managed to cover as 6.5-point favorites in its 28-21 road win over Auburn in Week 8 and the Under of 55.5 was achieved. The Rebels are on a 3-game winning streak following their 24-10 loss to No. 8 Alabama in Week 4. Ole Miss is the No. 11 ranked team in the US LBM Coaches Poll sponsored by USA TODAY Sports.

Vanderbilt at Ole Miss picks and predictions

Prediction

Ole Miss 48, Vanderbilt 21

Moneyline

Just go ahead and AVOID wagering on the moneyline in this game unless you believe Vanderbilt can pull off the massive upset. Taking Ole Miss to win straight up isn’t worth the risk at -5000 odds.

Against the spread

OLE MISS -24.5 (-105) is how I’d bet on the spread despite Vanderbilt surprisingly playing Georgia closer than expected in its last game. It was an outlier game for the Commodores in Week 7 as they have gone 1-7 ATS this season.

On the other hand, the Rebels are 5-2 ATS overall and 3-1 ATS at home entering Week 9.

Over/Under

OVER 63.5 (-110) is the play in this matchup as the Rebels should have no issues putting up points at home. QB Jaxson Dart has the offense averaging 39.7 points per game (tied for 9th-most in the nation) and the Commodores are allowing 34.4 points per game (10th-most in the nation).

With Vanderbilt’s defense not being a hindrance to any team, it is 7-0-1 to the Over this season. While Ole Miss is 3-4 to the Over so far, it is averaging 50.75 points per game at home.
