LSU 49, Florida 42 Reaction

Find two more interesting back-to-back games in a recent series than the ones Florida and LSU came up with.

Last year, the Tigers won a thriller in the fog, and this time around they pulled the game – and possibly the Ed Orgeron era – out of the fire in a defense-optional fight.

Tyrion Davis-Price ran for 287 yards and three scores, and LSU didn’t even win the time of possession battle and was outgained by 35 yards overall.

Florida was supposed to be the running team – it almost pulled off the upset over Alabama with the ground attack – but it got bottled up by the Tigers and had to throw to win. That was a problem.

The yards were there – 350 of them – but Anthony Richardson and Emory Jones each threw two picks, and the -4 turnover margin turned out to be the difference as the Gators ducked out of the SEC title chase.

After losing three of the last five games, what’s next? Georgia in two weeks. At this point, though, the game doesn’t really matter at three games back of the Dawgs in the East.

This did matter, though, for LSU.

It’s still technically in the SEC title chase after this, but forget that. the Tigers needed this just to stay alive for a bowl game, and that’s hardly a given even at 4-3.

There should be a win over ULM in late November, however, coming up …

At Ole Miss, at Alabama, Arkansas, and Texas A&M to close.

For now, LSU got a big win, it was fun, the running game looked great, and Orgeron’s voice was cashed after it was over – all like it’s supposed to be.

Why Oklahoma State Will Win

Oklahoma State pitched a nearly perfect game to get by Baylor 83-74. Cade Cunningham scored 25 points, the team dominated at the free throw line, and everything worked to keep down a Baylor offense that’ normally much, much sharper.

The Cowboys might have lost the rebounding margin, but they didn’t blink by answering time and again. Now they have to deal with a Texas team that beat them in December and took them to two overtimes in a 75-67 OSU win in February.

For all the good things the Longhorns do, they foul a whole lot. If OSU gets 13 more free throws like it did against Baylor, it wins.

Why Texas Will Win

It’s not what the Longhorns wanted, but they got a day off.

While Oklahoma State was busting it to get by Baylor, Texas didn’t get on the floor after Kansas had to tap out after a positive COVID test.

Oklahoma State might be playing well, but Texas has been every bit as hot, shooting as well as it has all year – at least as consistently as they have all year – to go along with a defense that does just enough to keep teams from bombing away from three.

What’s Going To Happen

It’s cliché to suggest that Oklahoma State is playing like a team on a mission, but …

You don’t beat West Virginia and Baylor in back-to-back games without having a little extra juice.

Cunningham is playing like the superstar he is, the team is getting nasty on the glass, and it should be able to attack the Longhorn backcourt and force mistakes to go along with another dominant performance on the free throw line.

Texas vs. #6 Oklahoma State: NCAA college football live stream, TV channel, start time, odds, predictions

The Texas Longhorns are on the road this week to face the undefeated Oklahoma State Cowboys from Boone-Pickens Stadium

The Texas Longhorns are on the road this week to face the undefeated Oklahoma State Cowboys from Boone-Pickens Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Longhorns are coming off a win over Baylor last weekend and will look to build on that momentum. Sam Ehlinger has been strong this year, throwing 17 touchdowns this season.  Oklahoma State is looking for their fifth straight win as they come into this game with a 4-0 record, they will look to the pass today as they face a stingy Texas defense.

This should make for a fun, high scoring affair today,  you won’t want to miss it! Here is everything you need to know to stream the game tonight.

Texas vs. #6 Oklahoma State:

  • When: Saturday, October 31
  • Time: 4:00 p.m. ET
  • TV Channel: FOX
  • Live Stream: fuboTV (watch for free)

Prediction: This will be the toughest offense that Oklahoma State has seen thus far and it might give the Cowboys some trouble this afternoon. I really like the Texas Longhorns in this spot and would sprinkle some money on the ML as well.

Bet: Texas Longhorns +3.5. Texas ML

Oklahoma State (4-0) vs Texas (3-2) Game Preview

Why Oklahoma State Will Win

So what’s the problem with Texas, besides the issue with the fight song?

It’s fine offensively – it leads the Big 12 in scoring – but there’s a wee bit of a turnover issue. It’s okay defensively, but there’s no pass rush and the secondary has been hit hard in various shootouts. However, there’s one big problem overall.

The run defense. When it’s good, Texas wins. When it’s not, Texas loses. It’s 0-2 when allowing over 200 yards on the ground, and 3-0 when it doesn’t.

Oklahoma State leads the Big 12 in rushing, averaging 216 yards per game. The offense stalled against Tulsa to start the season – that was a weird game in a whole slew of ways – but it kicked in full force on the ground over the last three games.

The Cowboys don’t have to rip off huge runs, but as long as they’re able to averaging somewhere close to five yards per carry, they’ll control the action. But …

Why Texas Will Win

The Texas run defense problem is volume. Keep hammering on this group, and it’ll break. However, it’s only giving 3.5 yards per carry, and it’s doing a decent job of forcing fumbles and other mistakes.

Yeah, Oklahoma State leads the Big 12 in total defense. But it struggled a bit last week when it finally faced a decent O in the 24-21 win over Iowa State, and no one’s confusing Tulsa, West Virginia or Kansas with Clemson offensively.

Texas is going to bring the most explosion, the best passing game, and the best all-around offense Oklahoma State has seen by far.

This is Sam Ehlinger’s day.

He was great against Oklahoma, but Texas lost. Last year, he hit 72% of his passes with four touchdowns and ran for 70 yards. He certainly knows the Cowboys, but …

What’s Going To Happen

This isn’t your 2019 Oklahoma State team. This defense really is good, and the running game really is fantastic.

In so many ways, this is it.

Oklahoma State has to play four of its last five games on the road – including Oklahoma and Kansas State – so for all intents and purposes, a loss makes it very, very hard to get to the Big 12 Championship. A loss also realistically ends any possibility of the conference getting back to the College Football Playoff.

Texas already has two losses, and one of them is to Oklahoma. Lose a third game in four, and forget about shot at playing for the Big 12 title – and ramp up the Tom Herman hot seat, too.

Oklahoma State lost last year, but it has won four of the last five in the series.  Ehlinger will be great, the Texas offense will be great, and the game will be great.

Chuba Hubbard will be great, too, with his fourth straight 100-yard game as the Cowboys run for 250 yards in the win.
