Four-star cornerback Courtland Guillory sets commitment date

The Sooners are in a great spot in their recruitment of four-star cornerback Courtland Guillory who set his commitment date.

The spring game has become a key event for the Oklahoma Sooners in their recruiting pursuits. This past weekend, they hosted four-star cornerback [autotag]Courtland Guillory[/autotag] out of Klein Oak High School.

In the aftermath, several predictions came through favoring the Oklahoma Sooners in Gullory’s recruitment. On Sunday, four predictions from 247Sports and Rivals made Oklahoma the team to beat.

On Wednesday, Guillory announced he’d be making his commitment decision on Sunday, April 28.

The Sooners were included in Guillory’s top four alongside Texas, Texas A&M, and UCF.

He’s a physical cornerback who attacks the ball in the air and the ball carrier in the run game with equal aggressiveness. In his aggressive play style, Guillory plays sound football, taking good angles in pursuit in the running game and staying in phase when playing the ball in the air.

Oklahoma’s entire defensive staff was down in Texas, visiting with the Guillory as they tried to close on a blue-chip prospect for the [autotag]2025 recruiting class[/autotag].

Sooners land commitment from three-star safety Marcus Wimberly

Oklahoma lands its 11th commit of the 2025 cycle with a pledge from safety Marcus Wimberly.

April has started with a boom for [autotag]Brent Venables[/autotag] and the Oklahoma Sooners.

The Sooners landed their 11th commit of the [autotag]2025 recruiting class[/autotag] when three-star safety [autotag]Marcus Wimberly[/autotag] announced his commitment to the Crimson & Cream on Saturday afternoon.

Wimberly, a native of Arkansas, was in town for Oklahoma’s “Heisman Hangout” weekend, which featured many guests from the 2025 and 2026 recruiting classes. Without much more information, it looks like that recruiting event has already paid dividends.

247Sports composite lists Wimberly No. 624 overall in the 2025 recruiting class. He is a top 50 safety nationally (No. 47) and a top-five player in the state of Arkansas.

Wimberly is a talented player with a nice blend of athleticism and instincts. Once he arrives on campus, he’ll be a safety in this defense.

In a previous interview with OUInsider at Rivals, Wimberly explained his priorities in his search.

“I’m gonna say the No. 1 thing is culture,” he said. “I want to go somewhere that I’m not only going to grow as a football player and an athlete, but I want to go somewhere that I’m going to grow as a human being to where I can be a great father, a great husband ā€” and maybe one day, since God called me to it, a great youth pastor.”

Since Venables and Co. took over, Oklahoma has been known for its culture and plans for its players after football, an attribute that is central to winning recruits and their families. Wimberly had been trending in the Sooners’ direction for weeks as predictions rolled in for the Sooners to land him.

Wimberly is the fourth defensive prospect to pledge to the Sooners and the first defensive back in the Sooners’ class. He chose the Sooners over Michigan, Memphis, Tennessee, Arkansas and Wisconsin.

Flurry of predictions favor Sooners for 2025 4-star defensive lineman

After receiving a pair of predictions from On3 midday Tuesday, a flurry of projections came through favoring the Sooners for 2025 four-star defensive lineman Trent Wilson.

The writing may be on the wall for the Oklahoma Sooners in their pursuit of four-star defensive lineman [autotag]Trent Wilson[/autotag].

On Tuesday, the Sooners picked up a pair of On3 predictions from Steve Wiltfong and Chad Simmons. Then, later in the day and into Wednesday, the Sooners garnered five more predictions between On3 and Rivals.

Penn State publisher for On3, Sean Fitz, and Happy Valley Insider for Rivals ,Dylan Callaghan-Croley, each issued predictions in the last 16 hours favoring the Sooners. From a local lean, Parker Thune and Brandon Drumm of OUInsider and Rivals issued Rivals Futurecasts for the Sooners to land Wilson. Joining his Rivals colleagues, national recruiting analyst Adam Friedman also issued a Futurecast favoring Oklahoma.

Now, predictions aren’t commitments and commitments aren’t signatures, but it appears that the Sooners have created a ton of momentum in their recruitment of Trent Wilson.

Wilson is a game-changer up front. He’s got good size and pairs that with elite athleticism for the position. He has a quick first step, which allows him to gain leverage on the offensive lineman as he works to the backfield.

The Upper Marlboro, Md. native is a top 10 defensive line prospect in 2025, according to On3 and Rivals. He’s just outside the top 10, according to ESPN at No. 11. Nationally, he’s a top 150 player in the cycle.

Paired with a commitment from [autotag]Ka’Mori Moore[/autotag], the Sooners could potentially have another strong interior defensive line group coming to Norman in the [autotag]2025 recruiting class[/autotag] if they can land Wilson as well.

Sooners now the trending favorite for 2025 4-star defensive lineman

The Oklahoma Sooners received On3 Predictions from Steve Wiltfong and Chad Simmons for four-star defensive lineman Trent Wilson.

The Oklahoma Sooners are looking to build upon one of their best defensive line recruiting classes of the modern era in the 2024 cycle. Oklahoma already has commitments from [autotag]Ka’Mori Moore[/autotag] and [autotag]Alexander Shieldknight[/autotag] and look to be the trending favorite for a blue-chip prospect, [autotag]Trent Wilson[/autotag].

Steve Wiltfong, now of On3, and Chad Simmons each issued an On3 prediction favoring the Sooners in Wilson’s recruitment. The Sooners now have a sizeable lead over Penn State and Maryland in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

Wilson, who hails from Upper Marlboro, Maryland, has 17 offers from Big Ten and SEC schools.

The Sooners offered Wilson at the end of January but [autotag]Todd Bates[/autotag] has apparently moved the needle in a short time.

Here’s what I had to say about Wilson back in January. At the end of January, Wilson released a top eight that included the Florida State Seminoles, Penn State Nittany Lions, Maryland Terrapins, Florida Gators, Texas A&M Aggies, Tennessee Volunteers, and the Ohio State Buckeyes along with the Sooners.

Wilson, who plays as the three-technique defensive tackle, or between the guard and tackle in their defensive alignment, plays with good quickness and power. Oklahoma Sooners earn commitment from 2025 four-star running back Tory Blaylock

Oklahoma adds another weapon to their 2025 recruiting class, earning a commitment from four-star running back Tory Blaylock.

The Oklahoma Sooners [autotag]2025 recruiting class[/autotag] is in a really good spot as the Sooners work through spring ball. It’s currently a top 10 group and just added another blue-chip prospect to the class, earning a commitment from four-star running back [autotag]Tory Blaylock[/autotag].

Blaylock is the first running back to commit to the Sooners in the 2025 cycle and brings OUā€™s total pledges back to 10.

He’s considered a four-star prospect by Rivals and ESPN and held offers from notable schools like Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan State, Missouri, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, SMU, South Carolina, TCU, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, UCF, and Wisconsin.

He chose the Sooners over the Buckeyes, Longhorns, Ducks, Crimson Tide, and Volunteers, who were in his top six back at the beginning of March.

Running backs coach DeMarco Murray and the Oklahoma Sooners have been pursuing Blaylock since their initial offer back in August of 2022.

Blaylock is an incredible athlete with great speed. And when we say great speed, not just football speed, but track speed. Blaylock and his Atascocita teammates just set the national 4×100 relay record at a track meet in Texas a week ago.

At that same meet, Blaylock ran a 10.62 100-meter dash.

On the football field, he displays that speed and twitchiness and combines it with good strength and great lateral agility. When he gets a lane, he’s hard to stop because of his burst.

Blaylock adds another big-time speed element to a Sooners offense that has been recruiting track speed over the last several years, earning commitments from guys like [autotag]Gavin Sawchuk[/autotag], [autotag]K.J. Daniels[/autotag], [autotag]Jaquaize Pettaway[/autotag], and [autotag]Zion Ragins[/autotag].

The commitment of Blaylock moves the Oklahoma Sooners from No. 8 back into the No. 5 spot in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings.

Sooners inside the top 6 for 2025 four-star TE Da’Saahn Brame

Oklahoma was included alongside Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss, Oregon, and Tennessee for 2025 four-star tight end prospect Da’Saahn Brame.

The Oklahoma Sooners are hoping to go back-to-back recruiting classes with a blue-chip tight end after depth and production became an issue in 2023.

The Sooners have been heavily involved in the recruitment of four-star prospect [autotag]Nate Roberts[/autotag], but are also in the mix for another four-star prospect from the region, Kansas native [autotag]Da’Saahn Brame[/autotag].

Brame is considered the No. 3 tight end in the [autotag]2025 recruiting class[/autotag] and hails from Derby, Kansas. On Wednesday, he dropped his top six schools at this point in his recruitment, and the Sooners were included. Oklahoma is joined by Oregon, Ole Miss, Alabama, Tennessee, and LSU. It’s a star-studded group of programs that have been recruiting really well in recent years but the Sooners are no stranger to big-time recruiting battles.

At 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds, Brame has a fantastic frame to build upon at the collegiate level and he knows how to use his size to make plays in the passing game. He regularly displays incredible athleticism, showing off an ability to get above the rim to high point the football, but also has really good lateral agility to work out routes and make players miss after the catch. His straight-line speed also jumps off the tape.

It’s easy to see why he’s caught the eye of 32 Power Four programs across the country.

Sooners DL target Landon Rink sets commitment date, names top 3

The Oklahoma Sooners are battling with Texas A&M and Ohio State for 2025 four-star defensive lineman Landon Rink, who set his commitment date for April 3.

The Oklahoma Sooners had a historic [autotag]2024 recruiting class[/autotag] and are hoping to add to that in their pursuit of 2025 defensive lineman [autotag]Landon Rink[/autotag].

Rink is a four-star prospect out of Cypress, Texas and is considered a top 15 defensive lineman by Rivals and ESPN. He holds offers from 35 Power Four programs across the country, including nine of the 16 SEC schools.

Rink told On3’s Chad Simmons that his top three schools are Ohio State, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M, and he plans to make his decision next week on April 3.

Link told On3, ā€œI like Coach [autotag]Brent Venables[/autotag]ā€™ and Coach Batesā€™ plan for me and what they want to do with me when Iā€™m there. Also, I like the relationship I have with them.ā€

The Sooners currently have just one defensive lineman committed in the [autotag]2025 recruiting class[/autotag], Lee Summit North’s [autotag]Ka’Mori Moore[/autotag]. But they could earn another pledge as Kole Briehler dropped his top three Wednesday morning including the Sooners.

The biggest challenge comes from local recruiting power, Texas A&M. Link’s hometown of Cypress is just over an hour away from College Station. If the Sooners are going to earn his commitment, they’ll have to go deep into the heart of Texas to do it.

Sooners earn another Futurecast for 2026 4-star QB Dereon Coleman

The Oklahoma Sooners continue to trend for 2024 four-star quarterback Dereon Coleman.

The Oklahoma Sooners only have one player committed to the [autotag]2026 recruiting class[/autotag] at this time, four-star running back [autotag]Jonathan Hatton[/autotag]. But they continue to trend in a positive direction for another blue-chip player.

It looks like the Oklahoma Sooners have zeroed in on their quarterback for the 2026 recruiting class. Four-star prospect [autotag]Dereon Coleman[/autotag] has been projected to the Sooners multiple times over the last couple of months.

OUInsider’s Brandon Drumm joined the crew with a Rivals Futurecast favoring the Sooners in Coleman’s recruitment.

Hereā€™s what Sooners Wireā€™sĀ Bryant Crews had to say about Coleman.

Coleman is a smaller quarterback prospect, standing at six feet. He throws a nice tight spiral and showcases some arm strength, ripping passes over the middle of the field. There isn’t a timetable for Coleman’s commitment at this time, but it looks like the Sooners have put themselves in a great position to earn his commitment.

Sooners an early SEC winner in the 2025 recruiting class

The Oklahoma Sooners are one of the early winners in the 2025 recruiting cycle.

Brent Venables and his coaching staff can recruit. They’ve put together top 10 classes in each of their first national signing days in Norman. That includes the 2022 class, when they only had a couple of months to recover the class after Lincoln Riley left.

And they’re already off to a fantastic start to the [autotag]2025 recruiting class[/autotag]. According to College Sports Wire, the Oklahoma Sooners are one of the early winners out of the SEC in the 2025 cycle.

New to the SEC,Ā Oklahoma currently holds nine commitments in their 2025 recruiting class to rank No. 6 in the nation, as well as second in the conference. Headlining that group is a trio of Top 200 prospects [autotag]Elijah Thomas[/autotag], [autotag]Ryan Fodje[/autotag], and [autotag]Kevin Sperry[/autotag], the first of which is one of the top players in the state of Oklahoma. – Mett Melton, College Sports Wire

Sperry made noise when he jumped the 2024 recruiting class with his March 2023 commitment. He’s been locked in since and helping Oklahoma recruit. The four-star prospect is a talented passer who could ascend to five-star status by the end of the cycle.

Wide receiver is a strength of this recruiting cycle. Emmett Jones has commitments from talented four-star prospects Elijah Thomas andĀ  [autotag]Trynae Washington[/autotag], and three-star receiver [autotag]Gracen Harris[/autotag]. It’s a dynamic group with big-time playmaking ability. As Jones has shown us in his time with the Sooners, he’ll continue to recruit to add talent to the wide receiver group.

The Sooners 2025 recruiting class got a big boost from the addition of Ryan Fodje. They were ahead of the curve on Fodje, who’s gone from being largely unknown in recruiting circles to a top-100 prospect in the cycle. Fodje joins [autotag]Owen Hollenbeck[/autotag], who a lot of people believe will be a standout interior offensive lineman.

And they’re still in the mix for several five-star offensive tackles. Oklahoma’s been projected to land [autotag]Ty Haywood[/autotag], and many feel they’re in a good position for [autotag]Michael Fasusi[/autotag]. They also have moved the needle for [autotag]Antoni Omugoro[/autotag], an athletic offensive line prospect from Elk City.

Offensive line could end up having the star power that the defensive line had for the 2024 class.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Sooners are on track to land their fourth five-star prospect since Venables’ arrival if the projections for five-star safety [autotag]Jonah Williams[/autotag] hold up.

With less than a year to go in the 2025 recruiting cycle, the Sooners have positioned themselves to have another strong group of prospects joining the program next year.

4-star wide receiver Jaden Nickens decommits from the Oklahoma Sooners

2025 wide receiver prospect, Jaden Nickens decommits from the Oklahoma Sooners.

The Oklahoma Sooners [autotag]2025 recruiting class[/autotag] started to come together during the spring and summer as a number of local prospects pledged to the Sooners.

Four-star wide receiver and Millwood (Oklahoma City) product [autotag]Jaden Nickens[/autotag] was one of those in-state prospects to commit, joining the Sooenrs recruiting class in August. On Wednesday, Nickens announced he would explore other options and decommitted from the Oklahoma Sooners.

Citing a desire to explore options and play basketball in addition to football, Nickens wrote on X:

“First I want to give thanks and all glory to my Father God above for even giving me the opportunity to play this game.

“Second, I will like to give love and thanks to the University of Oklahoma! Thank you to Coach (Brent) Venables, Coach (Emmett) Jones, and the rest of the staff that took me in as family and showed nothing but love. Thank you Sooner Nation for believing in me and giving me the best support from a college fan base.

“With that being said, I will like to announce I will be decommitting from the University of Oklahoma. This decommitment is all about me and my dreams. I want to experience the process more and explore with my options open. And for the colleges locking back in, I’m looking to play both sports. I want to be a duel-sport student athlete! I have faith in myself and God that this is part of his will. AGTG.”

Nickens is the No. 106 prospect in the country and the No. 9 wide receiver according to 247Sports.

Nickens was one of four players projected to play wide receiver for the Sooners. Despite the loss of Nickens, the Sooners have Elijah Thomas, Trynae Washington and Gracen Harris in the recruiting class.

Nickens’ decommitment also opens the door for the Sooners to reengage with blue chip prospects Andrew Marsh, Cooper Perry or Emmanuel Choice.

Emmett Jones continues to load the Oklahoma Sooners wide receiver room with talented prospects. He’s done a fantastic job restocking the wide receiver depth chart with talented players.
