Tennessee at Oklahoma odds, picks and predictions

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The No. 13 Oklahoma Sooners (3-0, 0-0 SEC) welcome the No. 7 Tennessee Volunteers (3-0, 0-0) to Memorial Stadium in Norman Saturday. Kickoff in the conference clash is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (ABC). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Tennessee vs. Oklahoma odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Tennessee is No. 7 and Oklahoma is No. 13 in the US LBM Coaches Poll.

This will be the Sooners’ first conference game as a member of the SEC. They beat Temple 51-3 to open the season and took down Houston 16-12 and Tulane 34-19. Oklahoma is 2-1 against the spread (ATS). It has stayed undefeated by its rock-solid defense, having yet to allow more than 20 points in a game.

The Volunteers have the opposite problem. They have one of the most dynamic offenses in the nation. Tennessee beat Chattanooga 69-3 to open the season then took down NC State 51-10 and most recently Kent State 71-0. The Vols are 3-0 ATS, having a margin of victory of over 175 through 3 games. Tennessee’s quarterbacks do have 3 interceptions on the season, though.

Tennessee at Oklahoma picks and predictions

Prediction

Tennessee 31, Oklahoma 27

Moneyline

PASS.

There’s not much value here.

The Sooners as a home underdog is playable, but considering how well Tennessee has played, the better option is to take Oklahoma on the spread.

Against the spread

BET OKLAHOMA +6.5 (-105).

The Sooners have one of the best defenses in the nation and force turnovers at a high rate, and while the Volunteers have dominated, they have turned the ball over several times throughout their 3 beatdowns. Oklahoma has allowed just over 11 points per game.

It will have its work cut out for it, but it has a strong defense and will get help from a rowdy home crowd. While Tennessee has impressed, it really hasn’t played anyone as even NC State has struggled against weak opponents this season. The Vols look elite, but they haven’t proven themselves.

On the road against a top-15 side, expect things to stay close. Take OKLAHOMA +6.5 (-105).

Over/Under

BET OVER 57.5 (-110).

The Sooners have scored 34 or more in 2 games. They have a capable offense and should be able to move the ball. Oklahoma is 1-2 O/U, mainly due to its top-notch defense.

The Vols have scored 50 or more in each game and have gone Over in each. Tennessee has a dynamic, big-play offense and an elite run game. It should be able to continue to score. While it might be at the same level as in previous weeks, expect it to get on the board often.

Take OVER 57.5 (-110).

Tulane at Oklahoma odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Tulane at Oklahoma odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The No. 13 Oklahoma Sooners (2-0) welcome the Tulane Green Wave (1-1) to Memorial Stadium in Norman Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Tulane vs. Oklahoma odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Tulane’s season has been a bit of a rollercoaster so far. After crushing Southeast Louisiana 52-0, they had a tough 34-27 loss to Kansas State last week. The Green Wave led 20-10 at halftime and were up 27-20 in the 4th, but gave up 14 unanswered points and lost. Tulane outgained Kansas State 491-396, but turnovers and a late fumble return cost them the game.

Oklahoma is 2-0 but has had a mixed start to the season. They cruised to a 51-3 win over Temple in Week 1, but last week’s 16-12 win over Houston was much closer than expected. Oklahoma was outgained 318-249 yards. QB Jackson Arnold threw for 174 yards and 2 TD. The defense has been solid,  but the offense needs to find more consistency as tougher games loom.

Tulane at Oklahoma picks and predictions

Prediction

Oklahoma 24, Tulane 14

Moneyline

PASS.

The Sooners will pull this game out, but it’ll be a tight one, which is why I’m going to look to the Green Wave getting the points in this game.

Against the spread

BET TULANE +13.5 (-114).

After a tough miss on a big win against Kansas State, the Green Wave are coming in fired up. They played well last week, and if they can move past that loss, they could give Oklahoma a real challenge. The Sooners didn’t look great against Houston and will need to improve to secure a win.

Tulane has been on a roll lately, winning 21 of their last 26 games and covering the spread in 5 of its last 6 road games in September. They’ve also been strong against non-conference teams, winning the 1st half in 6 of their last 7 matchups and the 1st quarter in 4 of their last 5 games. Given their recent performance and ability to handle tough road games, Tulane looks like a solid bet to cover the spread.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 46.5 (-110).

Tulane’s road openers have hit the Under in 7 of its last 8, and they’ve been under in 7 of its last 10 games. Oklahoma has been on the Under trend too, with both of their games this season going below the total points line. Plus, 6 of the Sooners last 7 home games against non-conference teams have stayed Under. With these patterns, taking the Under seems like a smart move.

Houston at Oklahoma odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Houston at Oklahoma odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Houston Cougars (0-1) and Oklahoma Sooners (1-0) meet at Gaylord Family – Memorial Stadium Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. ET (SEC Network). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Houston vs. Oklahoma odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Cougars opened by laying a giant egg at home against UNLV Aug. 31, falling 27-7 as 3.5-point favorites while the Under (55.5) cashed. In fact, Houston was nearly blanked before a TD pass with just 1 minute remaining in regulation.

Houston managed just 38 rushing yards on 26 attempts while posting 209 passing yards. The Cougars allowed 6 sacks, and Houston committed 10 penalties for 74 yards, too, while missing its only field-goal attempt.

Oklahoma had no such trouble against Temple, going for a 51-3 victory as a 42.5-point favorite as the Under (57.5) hung on. The Sooners gobbled up 220 rushing yards on 36 attempts, with 158 yards through the air. Oklahoma forced and recovered 4 fumbles while also recording 2 interceptions for a plus-6 turnover ratio.

Oklahoma is No. 13 in the US LBM Coaches Poll, conducted by the American Football Coaches Association and USA TODAY Sports.

Houston at Oklahoma picks and predictions

Prediction

Oklahoma 45, Houston 13

Moneyline

There is no way you can play Oklahoma (-7000), as it would require risking 70 times your potential return. In other words, you would win just $1.43 for every $100 risked.

As bad as Houston (+2000) was last week, nothing is for certain, and betting such heavy favorites is a kiss of death and a terrible long-term strategy.

PASS.

Against the spread

Take OKLAHOMA -27.5 (-118), as it should be able to get the job done at home.

The Sooners buried Temple last weekend, but they were also aided by a plus-6 turnover ratio. However, while the Cougars are unable to turn it over nearly as much as the Owls, Houston likely isn’t able to do much more than Temple did on the offensive side of the ball. UH was nearly blanked by a Mountain West team on its home field. It was a disaster of a start, and it’s about to get a lot worse.

Over/Under

The OVER 49.5 (-110) is the best play on the board.

While Houston struggled offensively in an Under result — the Aug. 31 home loss to UNLV — and Oklahoma hit the Under against Temple, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Sooners take care of the Over all on their own here.

QB Jackson Arnold was on fire last weekend, tossing 4 TDs against the Owls, and he should be able to tear up a Cougars side which was horrific last weekend.

Houston at Oklahoma odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Houston at Oklahoma odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The No. 1 Houston Cougars (25-3, 12-3 Big 12) head to Lloyd Noble Center to face the Oklahoma Sooners (19-9, 7-8) Saturday at 8 p.m. ET (ESPN2). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Houston vs. Oklahoma odds as we make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

The Cougars, who are No. 1 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, won their 6th straight game 67-59 over the Cincinnati Beatcats Tuesday. They did not cover the spread as 13.5-point favorites, and the Under (133.5) hit. Houston forced Oklahoma into 19 turnovers in the victory. The Cougars were led in scoring by G L.J. Cryer, who had 22 points, 3 steals, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists. Houston has won 4 of its last 5 Big 12 road games.

Oklahoma dropped to 1-3 in its last 4 games with a 58-45 loss at the Iowa State Cyclones Wednesday. It did not cover the spread as a 9.5-point underdog, and the Under (137.5) cashed. The Cyclones turned over the Sooners 14 times en route to victory. No player on Oklahoma scored in double figures, but G Rivaldo Soares came the closest with 9 points. The Sooners are 3-3 over their last 6 Big 12 home games.

Oklahoma is 2-1 in 3 all-time meetings against Houston since the 1960-61 season. The Sooners won the last meeting 79-74 Dec. 17, 2011. The Cougars covered the spread as 10-point underdogs, and the game went over the 150.5 total.

Houston at Oklahoma picks and predictions

Prediction

Houston 69, Oklahoma 62

Moneyline

PASS.

As much as I like the Cougars (-260) to get the win Saturday, I don’t want to put more than 2 units to win back 1 in a tough road contest. I’ll save my bet for the spread.

Against the spread

BET HOUSTON -6.5 (-102).

This Houston team is suffocating on the defensive end of the floor, averaging 10.4 steals per game. Oklahoma has struggled to score against the better opponents in the Big 12. The Sooners scored just 45 against Iowa State, 57 against Kansas, and 62 against Baylor. The Cougars have kept 4 of their last 6 opponents under 41% shooting from the field.

The Sooners have failed to cover the spread in 4 of their last 5 games.

Houston is 2-1-1 ATS in its last 4 and covered the spread in the last 2 meetings.

Over/Under

PASS.

I have never trusted betting totals when it comes to the Houston Cougars. They play great defense which can be deceiving when it comes to the O/U. Oddsmakers play into that when they set the total this low, and I’m not going to buy into it. I’d rather just avoid it and keep my bets to the spread.

Oklahoma at Kansas odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Oklahoma at Kansas odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Oklahoma Sooners (7-0, 4-0 Big 12) and Kansas Jayhawks (5-2, 2-2) meet Saturday at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for noon ET (FOX). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Oklahoma vs. Kansas odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Sooners look to get back on track after a close shave last week at home against UCF. Oklahoma won 31-29, its 2nd consecutive win by 4 or fewer points. The last time OU faced a true road game was Sept. 23, winning 20-6 at Cincinnati, and it’s 2-0 straight up (SU) and against the spread (ATS) on the road, and 3-0 SU/ATS if you included the neutral-site game in Dallas against Texas on Oct. 7.

The Jayhawks were on the short end of a 39-32 score at Oklahoma State in a wild game 2 weeks ago, and it has now dropped 2 of 3. However, at home, Kansas is a perfect 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS, including 3-0 ATS in 3 games against FBS foes. The Over is 3-0-1 in 4 home dates for KU, too.

Oklahoma is No. 6 in the US LBM Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Oklahoma at Kansas picks and predictions

Prediction

Oklahoma 37, Kansas 31

Moneyline

Oklahoma (-375) will cost you nearly 4 times your potential return, and that’s way too much risk and not enough reward in a conference road game against a team which has been playing well on its home field.

And the Sooners looked mortal against the Knights last week, while winning the past 2 games by just 6 combined points.

AVOID.

Against the spread

KANSAS +9.5 (-110) has lost 18 straight meetings in this series, and it would like nothing more than to end that skid in Lawrence before Oklahoma -9.5 (-110) bolts for the SEC next season. This is the 114th meeting, and it may be a while before the Jayhawks see one again.

While KU hasn’t scored a win in the series since Oct. 4, 1997, it is a solid 5-1 ATS in the previous 6 meetings, including covers in each of the past 3 in Lawrence.

Go lightly, though, as Oklahoma is 6-1 ATS overall this season, although that lone non-cover came last week in the near-miss against UCF.

Over/Under

OVER 65.5 (-110) is the lean, but ever so lightly. Be careful, and play a half-unit at most.

The Over is 4-3 for Oklahoma on the season, with the Over-Under split 1-1 in the 2 true road outings to date. Oklahoma has allowed just 23 points in those outings.

The Jayhawks have cashed the Over in 2 in a row, and 3 of the past 4 games, while posting a 3-0-1 mark in 4 home dates so far.

UCF at Oklahoma odds, picks and predictions

The UCF Knights (3-3, 0-3 Big 12) take on the No. 7 Oklahoma Sooners (6-0, 3-0) in Week 8 of the college football season on Saturday. Kickoff at Memorial Stadium is scheduled for noon ET (ABC). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the UCF vs. Oklahoma odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Knights were blown out 51-22 by Kansas in Week 6 as 1.5-point road favorites. The Over of 64.5 easily cleared and UCF has lost 3 consecutive games to conference opponents.

The Sooners covered as 4-point underdogs in their 34-30 road victory over No. 8 Texas in Week 6. The Over of 61.5 was achieved in that game and Oklahoma is now the No. 7 ranked team in the US LBM Coaches Poll powered  by USA TODAY Sports.

UCF at Oklahoma picks and predictions

Prediction

Oklahoma 45, UCF 24

Moneyline

The Sooners are massive favorites in this Big 12 showdown, but just AVOID the moneyline in this game. Taking any team straight up at -1100 odds is not worth the risk in any circumstance.

Against the spread

OKLAHOMA -17.5 (-115) is the play in this contest as coach Brent Venables has the Sooners looking like one of the best teams in the nation. The Sooners are coming off a bye week and QB Dillon Gabriel has been playing lights out with 1,878 passing yards, 16 passing TD, and only 2 INTs. QB John Rhys Plumlee is expected back for UCF after missing most of the past 4 games with a leg injury..

Oklahoma is 6-0 ATS this season. Meanwhile, the Knights have failed to cover the spread in any of their 1st 3 matchups against Big 12 opponents.

Over/Under

The Sooners are going to do plenty of the heavy lifting themselves in this one, making the OVER 67.5 (-115) an intriguing wager. Oklahoma is averaging 45.2 points per game (4th in the nation) and UCF is producing a solid 34.7 points per game (28th in the nation).

The Knights have given up an average of 43.7 points per game in their 3 conference games thus far. These teams are also a combined 9-3 to the Over this season.

Oklahoma vs. Texas odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Oklahoma vs. Texas odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The No. 12 Oklahoma Sooners (5-0, 2-0 Big 12) and No. 4 Texas Longhorns (5-0, 2-0) renew their age-old rivalry Saturday. Kickoff from Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas, is at noon ET (ABC).  Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Oklahoma vs. Texas odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The OU-UT rivalry — they’ve played in the Cotton Bowl every year since 1929 — dates all the way back to 1900. In 118 all-time series games, Texas leads 63-50-5. Oklahoma had won 4 in a row in this series until falling 49-0 in last year’s game. The shutout was the first in the series since 2004.

Texas clocked a 40-14 win over Kansas last Saturday, covering as a 16.5-point favorite. A UT offense ranked 17th in the nation (478.4 YPG) cranked out 661 yards against an upstart Jayhawk team which had been 4-0 until the rout in Austin. In last year’s rout over the Sooners, UT scored in every quarter and outgained OU 585 yards to 195.

The Sooners are No. 12 and the Longhorns are No. 4 in the US LBM Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Oklahoma vs. Texas picks and predictions

Prediction

Texas 31, Oklahoma 28

Moneyline

Give Oklahoma a near-one-third probability to win this contest outright. The Sooners are the lean, but only an actionable one north of +200.

PASS.

Against the spread

The Sooners have played the lesser of these two schedules, but 2nd-year coach Brent Venables has the OU defense performing much better through 5 games this fall.

Oklahoma has allowed just 3.2 yards per carry; look for a contest with both teams struggling to run the ball. Both teams are above-average in producing explosive plays in passing-down situations, but the OU defense has been more adept at creating some havoc plays.

Expect the Sooners to have a good enough chance of hanging around with a 3-point deficit and to want to get a measure of retribution after last year’s embarrassment, which was in large measure due to injuries at the quarterback position.

 BACK OKLAHOMA +5.5 (-110).

Over/Under

Peg the number here as a fair one. PASS.

Iowa State at Oklahoma picks and predictions

Prediction

Oklahoma 34, Iowa State 13

Moneyline

Oklahoma has rolled to 4 straight wins by at least 14 points. The Sooners have beaten the Cyclones in 3 straight and in 8 of the last 10 matchups. But with a -1400 line, it isn’t worth any action.

PASS and look to the spread.

Against the spread

Oklahoma has covered the spread in all 4 games this season while Iowa State has failed to cover the spread in either of its losses.

Oklahoma’s 20 points were a season-low last week, but the Sooners have averaged 46.8 points per game. No opponent has scored more than 17 points.

Iowa State has a combined 20 points in their 2 losses.

BET OKLAHOMA -20 (-110).

Over/Under

After 3 straight games without reaching a 40-point total, Iowa State’s win over Oklahoma State had 61 points, blowing past the 36.5-point projected total.

Two of Oklahoma’s games have not reached 40 points. It will be close, but Oklahoma will not reach 40 this week and Iowa State will struggle to score against the Sooners.

BET UNDER 48.5 (-110).

Oklahoma at Cincinnati odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Oklahoma at Cincinnati odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Cincinnati Bearcats (2-1) make their Big 12 debut when they welcome the No. 14 Oklahoma Sooners (3-0) to Nippert Stadium Saturday. Kickoff is set for noon ET (FOX). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Oklahoma vs. Cincinnati odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Oklahoma routed Tulsa on the road last week 66-17, covering as a 28-point favorite. QB Dillon Gabriel had a stellar performance completing 28 of 31 attempts for 421 yards and 5 touchdowns. WR Nic Anderson hauled in 3 receptions for 120 yards and 3 TDs while the Sooners had 6 total TDs through the air. The Sooners have outscored opponents 167-28 in their 3 games this season.

UC, in its 1st season of Big 12 action, suffered its 1st loss of the season, falling 31-24 in overtime against in-state rival and non-conference foe Miami (Ohio) last week. The Bearcats failed to cover as 14-point home favorites. Bearcats QB Emory Jones struggled, going 18 of 34 for 265 yards with 2 interceptions. Oklahoma at Cincinnati picks and predictions

Prediction

Oklahoma 38, Cincinnati 13

Moneyline

PASS.

At -600 odds, Oklahoma is the clear favorite. Facing a Bearcats team that fell in OT the previous week to a much lesser Miami (Ohio) opponent, the Sooners should easily take this game.

There is little profit to be made on a -600 ML bet for the favorite here.

Against the spread

BET OKLAHOMA -14 (-110).

Last week, 2 things happened to support this bet.

First, Oklahoma’s offense looked phenomenal. Eleven different receivers pulled in passes — 3 of them eclipsed 100 yards. The Sooners’ strength is their passing game. They rank 6th in the country with 358.0 passing yards per game.

Second, is the liability that lies in the Cincinnati defense. It allowed 3 passing TDs in the loss to Miami (Ohio), including a 79-yard TD on the 1st play of the game. The previous week against Pitt, Cincy they also allowed 3 TDs. Against a high-powered Oklahoma offense, do not expect UC to stay in this game for long.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 56.5 (-110).

While the Oklahoma offense has looked great, so has its defense. Holding opponents to just 28 combined points in its first 3 games, a total of 56.5 seems too high to reasonably bet. While the Bearcats have scored at least 24 points in each of their first 3 games, expect Emory and company to struggle to move the ball leading to the Under hitting.
