Oklahoma City Thunder at San Antonio Spurs odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Oklahoma City Thunder at San Antonio Spurs odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Oklahoma City Thunder (11-3) and San Antonio Spurs (6-8) meet Tuesday for NBA Cup group play. Tip-off from Frost Bank Center is set for 9:30 p.m. ET (TNT). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Thunder vs. Spurs odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Thunder lead 1-0

The Thunder are coming off a 121-119 loss as 7-point favorites to the visiting Dallas Mavericks Sunday with the Over (225.5) hitting. The loss snapped a 3-game win streak for Oklahoma City, which has not lost back-to-back games all season.

The Spurs failed to cover as 14.5-point underdogs in a 110-93 loss at the Mavericks Saturday as the Under (229) cashed. San Antonio has lost back-to-back games and is on an 0-3 against-the-spread (ATS) skid.

In an Oct. 30 meeting, the Spurs covered as 12.5-point underdogs in a 105-93 loss at Oklahoma City while the Under (221) hit. Thunder G Luguentz Dort had a game-high 20 points, and F Chet Holmgren added 19.

Thunder at Spurs picks and predictions

Prediction

Thunder 117, Spurs 102

Moneyline

The Thunder (-450) were 18-10 after a loss last season, and now they’re facing a sub-.500 Spurs team which will likely be without its franchise player in Wembanyama.

While most people don’t like betting heavy favorites — and they shouldn’t because the bid-ask difference is usually too high — I wouldn’t be against playing the Thunder at -400 or cheaper.

At this price, though, PASS.

Against the spread

This number is reasonable. You only have to lay 9.5, and you get the much better team, the best player on the floor in Thunder G Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and the game’s on national TV — so motivation shouldn’t be a concern for the Thunder.

While we have seen NBA teams play better for 1-2 games when a star player goes down, the Spurs played even worse than expected at Dallas Saturday, so it’s unlikely that they turn it around in their second game without Wembanyama Tuesday.

BET THUNDER -9.5 (-110).

Over/Under

I’m on the fence for this one. The loss of Wembanyama means fewer points for the Spurs, but also allows Oklahoma City to score easier at the rim. I believe the bigger impact is to the Spurs’ offense, but this number is not high enough for me to confidently bet the Under in this spot.

LEAN UNDER 222.5 (-110).

Dallas Mavericks at Oklahoma City Thunder odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Dallas Mavericks at Oklahoma City Thunder odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Dallas Mavericks (6-7) take on the Oklahoma City Thunder (11-2) Sunday evening at Paycom Center. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Mavericks vs. Thunder odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; OKC won 3-1 in ’23-24 regular season and Dallas won 4-2 in West semifinals

The Mavs took down the San Antonio Spurs 110-93 Saturday evening, covering as 14.5-point favorites. C Victor Wembanyama was a late scratch for San Antonio in that one. G Luka Doncic had just 16 points on 6-for-16 shooting. G Kyrie Irving and C Daniel Gafford carried the load with 22 apiece.

The Thunder eclipsed the Phoenix Suns 99-83 Friday night as we cashed all 3 bets in that one. G Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was in his usual dominant form, dropping 28 points to lead the charge. OKC has won 3 straight since C Chet Holmgren (hip) went down.

Mavericks at Thunder picks and predictions

Prediction

Mavericks 120, Thunder 118

Moneyline

I like Dallas here. It is certainly not worthy of being a +170 underdog here. Yeah, it’s playing on consecutive nights, but Doncic didn’t stress too much in 28 minutes Saturday night. Not only that, playing against SGA makes him reach for another level. He averaged 34 points, 13.5 assists and 11.5 boards in 2 games last regular season against OKC.

The Mavs are a little deeper than the Thunder are right now, and they’re worth the risk.

Take the MAVERICKS +170.

Against the spread

There’s no point in taking the spread here since we’re taking a shot at the value on the ML.

Instead, take a look at LUKA DONCIC OVER 27.5 POINTS (-120). He had 36 and 32 in the 2 regular-season meetings he played in against OKC last year. If you want to get really fancy, consider Luka Doncic Triple-Double (+525). Considering he averaged one against the Thunder, that’s a good spot for a free bet or a fruitful leap of faith.

Over/Under

Both teams have cashed Unders in 2 straight games. Pay no attention to that. These teams will feed off one another and buckets will drop. The Over was 3-1 between these teams last regular season.

Take the OVER 231.5 (-110).

Phoenix Suns at Oklahoma City Thunder odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Phoenix Suns at Oklahoma City Thunder odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Phoenix Suns (9-3) take on the Oklahoma City Thunder (10-2) Friday in NBA Cup group play at Paycom Center. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Suns vs. Thunder odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; OKC swept 3-0 last year

The Suns limp into town after a road loss to the Sacramento Kings Wednesday 127-104 as 8-point dogs. They’re without F Kevin Durant (calf) for at least 2 weeks and G Bradley Beal (calf) again Friday. G Devin Booker had 18 points on 6-for-16 shooting from the floor.

The Thunder won their second straight Wednesday with a 106-88 cover as 14.5-point faves against the New Orleans Pelicans. G Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 29 points, 5 boards and 5 dimes. He was 3-for-7 from downtown. C Jalen Williams actually led the way with 31 points and posted 6 boards, 7 assists and 4 steals.

Suns at Thunder picks and predictions

Prediction

Thunder 110, Suns 102

Moneyline

Pay no attention to the ML and go straight to SHAI GILGEOUS-ALEXANDER OVER 1.5 3-POINTERS (-135). SGA is 7-for-15 (46.7%) from beyond the 3-point line the last 2 games.

Against the spread

I really don’t like this number, but if I am forced to pick one, I’m siding with THUNDER -7.5 (-115). OKC is so hot-and-cold right now without Holmgren patrolling the paint. It gave up just 88 last game but allowed the LA Clippers and Golden State Warriors to drop 128 and 127. It has to keep Phoenix right around 100 to cash this, and that’s where I lean, but I would much rather take it at 6.5 in a live bet.

Over/Under

Phoenix has gone Over in 3 straight because the Suns can’t defend. However, OKC is missing key parts that make it a reach to go much north of 110. The Under cashed in 2 of the 3 meetings last season, and both were in Phoenix.

Take the UNDER 227.5 (-115).

New Orleans Pelicans at Oklahoma City Thunder odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s New Orleans Pelicans at Oklahoma City Thunder odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The New Orleans Pelicans (3-8) and Oklahoma City Thunder (9-2) meet Wednesday at Paycom Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Pelicans vs. Thunder odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Thunder won 2-1 in 2023-24 regular season and swept 4-0 in first round of playoffs

The Pelicans have been terrible with a 3-8 record to start the season, so this playoff rematch has lost a little luster.

This game lost even more steam when Pelicans F Zion Williamson went on the shelf earlier this week due to a hamstring injury which could cost him 4 to 6 weeks. G Jose Alvarado, who started the last 7 games, suffered a hamstring injury during Monday’s 107-105 home loss to the Brooklyn Nets. He is expected to be sidelined for several weeks.

Monday’s loss — as 1.5-point underdogs — was the Pelicans’ 5th in a row and 8th in the last 9. New Orleans is also 1-9 against the spread (ATS) in the previous 10 contests.

OKC isn’t without injury issues as C Chet Holmgren suffered a fractured hip in a 127-116 home loss to Golden State Sunday. The former Gonzaga star will be sidelined indefinitely.

Without Holmgren, the Thunder struck for a 134-128 win Monday over the visiting LA Clippers last time out, pushing as 6-point favorites, while the Over (219) hit for the 4th consecutive time for the Thunder. F Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scorched the Clips for 45 points and 9 assists while hitting 4 triples.

OKC is just 1-2-1 ATS in the past 4 games, but 7-3-1 through its 11 games this season.

Pelicans at Thunder picks and predictions

Prediction

Thunder 126, Pelicans 102

Moneyline

The Thunder (-1200) were fine without Holmgren against the Clippers, and they should be fine against the injured-decimated Pelicans (+725), too. However, it’s not wise to risk 12 times the potential return on a standalone wager or as a part of a multi-leg parlay. There is just no value in that.

AVOID.

Against the spread

BACK OKLAHOMA CITY -14.5 (-110) to cash at home, even though this is a big number.

OKC is missing a big piece (Holmgren) in the middle, but so is NOLA. That’s a bit of a wash. The Thunder still have the electric SGA, while the Pellies do not have a dynamic scorer to take over the game.

Over/Under

OVER 221.5 (-110) is worth playing lightly, but don’t get carried away.

The Over has cashed in 4 consecutive Thunder games, with the offense going for 116 or more points, while allowing 124 or more points in 3 of those outings.

The Pelicans have had problems scoring, but opponents are receiving very little resistance from them. New Orleans has allowed 115 or more points in 5 of the past 6 outings.

Season series: Thunder lead 1-0

The Clip Show have won 4 straight following a 105-92 defeat to the Thunder Nov. 2. They swept a road-and-home back-to-back Friday and Saturday. The Clippers won 107-98 in Sacramento Friday as 6.5-point dogs and snuck by the Toronto Raptors Saturday, 105-103. G James Harden had 24 points, 12 boards and 7 assists against Toronto.

After starting the season 7-0, the Thunder have dropped 2 of 3 after a 127-116 setback against the Golden State Warriors Sunday. C Chet Holmgren went down 5 minutes into that game with a hip injury, and he’s out for this one. G Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 24 points in the defeat.

Clippers at Thunder picks and predictions

Prediction

Thunder 108, Clippers 105

Moneyline

The Thunder have beaten the Clippers in 6 of the last 8 meetings. SGA is averaging 26.4 PPG against his former team. So while I feel the Thunder are a little vulnerable on the heels of a loss and playing on back-to-back nights, I don’t believe the Clippers have enough without Kawhi.

There’s too much juice on this ML, though. My initial thought was: SGA is going to drop 30 in this one. Well, the books have his line set at 29.5. So let’s shift to SHAI GILGEOUS-ALEXANDER OVER 42.5 POINTS+REBOUNDS+ASSISTS (-115).

Against the spread

I like the Clippers’ side here because I do think they have a reasonable shot to win the game. I just place more faith in SGA than I do The Beard. While the Thunder are 7-3 against the Clippers in the last 10, they are just 3-7 ATS.

Take the CLIPPERS +6.5 (-110).

Over/Under

The Clippers are 3-7 O/U, and the Thunder are 5-5. Losing Holmgren will hurt OKC’s interior defense, but the Clippers don’t have the presence to take advantage on the interior. I look for a lot of 3s to be chucked and clanked.

Take the UNDER 218.5 (-110).

Season series: First meeting; OKC won 3-1 last season

Golden State was routed 136-117 by the Cleveland Cavaliers Friday while failing to cover as a 3.5-point underdog. The Warriors trailed by a whopping 41 points at halftime as the Warriors’ defense failed to stop anything in the loss, which ended a 5-game winning streak.

Oklahoma City rebounded from its first loss, 124-122 to the Denver Nuggets Wednesday, to blow out the Houston Rockets 126-107 Friday while covering as a 7.5-point favorite. Both G Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and C Chet Holmgren scored 29 points.

Warriors at Thunder picks and predictions

Prediction

Thunder 117, Warriors 113

Moneyline

PASS.

The Thunder are the better and more talented team and will win to cover here as -300 favorites, but they are not worth the risk of betting on as such heavy favorites. I recommend passing here and betting on the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

LEAN WARRIORS +7.5 (-110).

Golden State has been a very good team on both sides of the ball this year and is getting solid play from its bench, so the Warriors will give the top-seeded Thunder some trouble here.

This is a lean because the Warriors were just dismantled by a Cavs team that, to me, is notas good as this OKC team. However, OKC does not yet have things figured out offensively the way that Cleveland does, so I am still confident in the Warriors to cover.

Over/Under

BET OVER 227.5 (-110).

The Over has hit in 4 straight games for Golden State and is 6-3 for the Warriors this season. For OKC, the Over has hit in back-to-back games. The Over has also hit in each of the last 9 meetings between these squads.

Be aware that both Golden State and OKC are among the best in the league defensively, so this bet has some risk.

Houston Rockets at Oklahoma City Thunder odds, picks and predictions

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Oklahoma City Thunder (7-1) welcome the Houston Rockets (5-3) to Paycom Center Friday. Tip is set for 8 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Rockets vs. Thunder odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; 2023-24 series was tied 2-2

The Thunder lost for the first time this season, falling to the Denver Nuggets 124-122 Wednesday, closing as a 7-point road favorite. Oklahoma City has thrived at home and is 3-0 with a 24-point win over the Atlanta Hawks, a 12-point win over the San Antonio Spurs and a 16-point win over the Orlando Magic. OKC is 6-2 against the spread (ATS), 2-1 ATS at home. It is led by G Shai Gilgeous-Alexander‘s 26 points per game (PPG).

The Rockets have exceeded expectations so far this season and sit atop the Southwest Division. They are coming off a 127-100 win over the San Antonio Spurs Wednesday, closing as a 6.5-point favorite. Houston has won 2 straight and 4 of its last 5. It is 2-1 straight up and ATS on the road. The Rockets have scored at least 121 points twice in the last 3 games. Rockets at Thunder picks and predictions

Prediction

Thunder 114, Rockets 102

Moneyline

PASS.

There’s no great take here. The Thunder (-350) are far too expensive of a favorite to back here, and the Rockets (+280) haven’t played well enough on the road to consider them for the upset against a strong Oklahoma City side.

Avoid this play.

Against the spread

BET THUNDER -8.5 (-110).

Prior to Wednesday’s 2-point loss to the Nuggets, Oklahoma City had won every game by 10 points or more. The Thunder have been invincible at home, going 3-0 with wins by 24, 12, and 16 points.  The Thunder not only have an efficient offense that has topped 120 points in 3 of its last 7 games, but it has one of the best defenses, allowing 95 or fewer points 5 times in 8 games.

The Rockets top 5 scoring weapons all shoot 45.5% from the field or worse. They have covered well as an underdog, but have yet to be one of this size. Houston has allowed 108 or more points in 4 of 8 games. Couple the Rockets offensive inefficiency with OKC’s formidable defense, and back the home side to cover.

Take THUNDER -8.5 (-110).

Over/Under

BET UNDER 218.5 (-105).

The Rockets are 3-5 O/U this season and have allowed 102 or fewer points in 4 of their last 5 games. The Thunder have the No. 1 ranked defensive rating while the Rockets sit 4th. Houston also ranks 28th in pace, so it isn’t likely to push the pace either.

OKC is 3-5 O/U and 1-2 O/U in its last 3. It has scored 105 or fewer points 2 of its last 3 games and 3 times in the last 5. Considering both teams defensive strengths here, back UNDER 218.5 (-105).

The Oklahoma City Thunder (7-0) travel to face the Denver Nuggets (4-3) Wednesday. Tip-off from Ball Arena is set for 9 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Thunder vs. Nuggets odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Thunder leads 1-0

Oklahoma City beat the Orlando Magic 102-86 on Monday while covering as a 12.5-point favorite. The Thunder have allowed under 100 points in back-to-back games and are the only undefeated Western Conference team.

Denver escaped with a 121-119 win over the Toronto Raptors Monday while failing to cover as an 11-point favorite. C Nikola Jokic put up a 28-14-13 triple double in the win. The Nuggets have won back-to-back games and have topped 120 points in both wins.

Thunder at Nuggets picks and predictions

Prediction

Thunder 114, Nuggets 96

Moneyline

PASS.

Oklahoma City is the much better and hotter team, especially with Denver’s injuries, so the Thunder will pick up the win here. But the Thunder are not worth the risk of betting on as -275 favorites, so look to the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

BET THUNDER -6.5 (-110).

Oklahoma City is 6-1 ATS and has covered in each of its last 3 games. These teams met to open the season and the Thunder won 102-87. With Gordon and Murray out, the Thunder should win Wednesday just as comfortably.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 223.5 (-110).

The Under has hit in back-to-back games and is 5-2 for the Thunder. OKC’s defense also allows just 95.9 points per game, best in the league. That, combined with neither of these teams being anything special offensively, makes the Under a safe bet here.

Be aware that the Over has hit in 5 straight games for Denver.

Magic at Thunder picks and predictions

Prediction

Thunder 119, Magic 102

Moneyline

PASS.

There is no value on the Thunder (-750) to remain undefeated Monday.

Against the spread

BET THUNDER -12.5 (-105).

Orlando has failed to cover in 5 straight games overall, including 4 road games and 2 as an underdog. Orlando has looked lost and has not won a game since Banchero went down with an oblique injury.

Oklahoma City has covered in 5 of its 6 games this season and won all 6 by 12 or more points.

Over/Under

BET OVER 215.5 (-110).

The Magic have hit the Over in 5 of their 7 games this season while allowing 115 or more points in 3 of their last 5.

The Thunder have hit the Over in 2 of their last 4 games while scoring 114 or more points in 3 of their last 5. Oklahoma City will need to carry the load in this matchup, which it is more than equipped to do.
