Watch the Ohio State football trailer for week 2 vs. Youngstown State

Oh come let’s sing Ohio’s praise. #GoBucks!

The Ohio State football season got started with a win last week over Indiana. It was an underwhelming win, but a win nonetheless. Now the Buckeyes come back to Columbus for the home opener in 2023 against Youngstown State.

While OSU still looked like a team trying to gel together, this week should provide plenty of opportunity to work out some kinks. One team that never has an off week is the media team who has put together another excellent production to get you ready for the Penguins.

“Oh come let’s sing Ohio’s praise…” and get ready for another Buckeye victory.

Ohio State football adds Youngstown State to 2023 schedule

Youngstown State has been added to the 2023 schedule replacing San Jose State.

The Ohio State football team will welcome Youngstown State to Ohio Stadium for an in-state matchup on the football field in early 2023. The Buckeyes previously had San Jose State scheduled for September 9, but both teams mutually agreed to cancel the game.

To fill the vacancy, Ohio State has added the Penguins as a warm-up before heading to South Bend to take on the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame next season.

Youngstown State is of course an FCS opponent and the Buckeyes haven’t faced too many teams from that level, unlike schools from the SEC who seem to have at least one FCS opponent on the schedule each year. The last time it happened for OSU? It was 2013 when the Bucks defeated Florida A&M by a score of 76-0.

Youngstown State has visited the ‘Shoe recently in 2007 and 2008 where the Buckeyes handled their business 38-6 and 43-0. With the Penguins coming back to Ohio State again in 2023, there may be a chance we’ll get to see former head coach, Jim Tressel. Tressel coached YSU before coming to Ohio State and leading them to the 2002 National Championship and he currently serves as the President of Youngstown State.
