Best photos of Ohio State football’s win over Northwestern

Check out some of the best photos of Ohio State’s win against Northwestern on Saturday. #GoBuck

It was far from an offensive clinic on Saturday in Evanston, Illinois, but Ohio State was able to put some things together in the second half to outlast Northwestern and run its record to 9-0.

The weather was the story of the game with considerable gusty winds and rain, and that plus the effort and pride of the Northwestern defense bottled up the OSU offense most of the day.

It might have been a gray Midwestern day in the Chicagoland area but the gray souping conditions against the scarlet and gray of Ohio State and black and purple of the Northwestern uniforms made for some pretty colorful pictures.

Here are some of the best photos of Ohio State’s win over Northwestern in a scrolling picture gallery. Enjoy the view and the fact that you weren’t in the horrible conditions at Ryan Field. And for those that were, way to brave the three yards and a cloud of yuck.

Five things we think we learned from Ohio State’s win over Northwestern

Here are five things we think we learned after Ohio State’s closer-than-expected win over Northwestern. #GoBucks

Well, that was interesting, and, honestly, somewhat depressing. Not as depressing as a loss, but Ohio State coming out of Evanston with a 21-7 over a one-win Northwestern team isn’t going to impress anyone.

But, it could have been worse. The Buckeyes could have very well not been able to find anything that worked in the wind and rain and found a way to give the Wildcats their win of the century. Instead, OSU ran its record to 9-0 and kept all of its stratospheric goals in the clouds and attainable.

But, there are clearly some things to work on after another lackluster showing, and we are here to bring both the good and bad to light as we do after every game.

Here are five things we think we learned after Ohio State found a way to survive the elements, mindset, and effort against Northwestern.

WATCH: Miyan Williams goes 24-yards on the ground for a TD against Northwestern

WATCH Miyan Williams takes it to the house vs. Northwestern #GoBucks

It has been anything but easy for Ohio State against Northwestern on a blustery, rainy afternoon in the Windy City. So far, OSU’s offense has stalled multiple times and has had an uphill battle in running the ball. So much so that the Buckeyes went into halftime tied with a less-than-spectacular Northwestern team.

That all changed at the start of the second half though when running back Miyan Williams finally found some running room, broke a tackle, then weaved his way through the Northwestern defense for a 24-yard touchdown run.

Scoring has been hard to come by, so do yourself a favor and get a look at Williams giving Ohio State its first lead and the celebration he did afterward.

There’s still a long way to go in this one but it does feel as though the Buckeyes are starting to get a little momentum.

Ohio State vs. Northwestern three and out halftime review: Three yard and a cloud of yuck.

Three observations on what we’ve seen from Ohio State in the first half against Northwestern. None of which is good. #GoBucks

Well, a game in which Ohio State was supposed to handle easily has turned into one it might just hope to get out of the wind and rain with a victory. That’s because things have sputtered and smoked on offense for one of the nation’s best offensive ball clubs as the teams headed into the locker room tied 7-7.

There’s a lot to take from this game, and not much of it is positive. Every week we pull three things out and provide some observations on what’s working and what’s not for the game Ohio State is playing at halftime.

Things in Evanston have not been pleasant for the Buckeyes so far, so brace yourself for some pretty scathing commentary on how this one has gone in the first 30 minutes.

Off we go …

Ohio State vs. Northwestern preview central

Ohio State vs. Northwestern preview central. All our weekly articles in one place for the game. #GoBucks

Ohio State football is in the Chicagoland area Saturday to take on a Northwestern team that hasn’t been very good. The Wildcats aren’t expected to be much more than a speedbump for the Buckeyes and the oddsmakers agree.

As we always say though, both teams have to show up, get off the bus, and put the football down to figure out which team brings enough to take care or business.

Each week we flip back through all of our preview articles and collect them all in one place for easy selection and reading. It’s a playbook of everything that we discussed during the week.

Here is our Ohio State vs. Northwestern preview central for the upcoming Wee 10 as OSU tries to run its record to 9-0.

Ohio State provides injury, availability report for Northwestern game

Ohio State is without three key members as it prepares to play Northwestern on the road Saturday. #GoBucks

The Ohio State football program doesn’t provide the typical injury report like other schools, instead providing a status and availability report just prior to kickoff.

With the Buckeyes traveling to the Chicagoland Saturday to take on Northwestern, we just received an update on injuries and which players will be available for the next step on the road to a hopeful Big Ten championship. Of note, OSU will be without three key members heading to Evanston.

As expected receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba will be unavailable and likely not ready until at least the Michigan game, but also missing for today somewhat surprisingly is running back TreVeyon Henderson. Miyan Williams is not listed as unavailable, so it’ll likely be his game to handle on the ground.

Also missing again is cornerback Cam Brown who has been out for multiple weeks now. Jordan Hancock has been getting more game reps coming back from injury himself, so look for him to start opposite of Denzel Burke again at cornerback.

Here’s the complete list of players that will not take part against Northwestern.
