WATCH: What Michigan State head coach Mel Tucker said about Ohio State after the game

Watch the full Mel Tucker press conference where he praises Ohio State after his team got beat, 49-20, in East Lansing. #GoBucks

Michigan State head coach Mel Tucker is not a happy head coach, especially after being taken behind the woodshed more or less against an Ohio State team that seems to be getting better and better. When everything was said and done in East Lansing Saturday evening, the Buckeyes had rolled up more than 600 yards of offense and a bushel of big plays and point in a 49-20 win.

It probably could have been worse.

Tucker met with the media in East Lansing after the game to discuss what he saw from the game. He was not happy with his team, but he was also quick to give credit to Ohio State and the players and coaches that he saw from the opposite sideline.

We like to bring you what the opposing coach says after each OSU game and we’re not stopping now. If you didn’t catch coach Tucker’s comments, you can do so by playing the below video of his entire postgame Ohio State press conference thanks to MSUSpartans.com.

We don’t have embedded video at this time, but when we do, we’ll share it. In the meantime go to the Michigan State website we’ve linked to and listen to Tucker praise the pressure the wide receivers for Ohio State put on you, how accurate C.J. Stroud is, and how he can close the gap between the Buckeyes and his squad.

Ohio State now goes into the next week preparing for a bye. Time to get healthy and rested for the stretch run that will begin with the hosting of the Iowa Hawkeyes on Saturday, Oct. 22.

Best photos of Ohio State football’s win over Michigan State

A look at some of the best photos from Ohio State’s impressive win on the road in East Lansing. #GoBucks

The Ohio State freight train just keeps rolling, and this time the light at the end of the tunnel was the scarlet and gray express running over the Michigan State Spartans.

The Buckeyes went on the road for the first time this season and looked just as impressive as they have in the ‘Shoe, delivering a knockout punch to the Spartans by the time the teams entered the locker room at halftime and then cruising to a 49-20 win.

With every game, we try to provide you with some of the best photos from all of the action, and we had some USA TODAY Sports photographers on hand again to keep things going.

Here are some of the best still images of Ohio State rolling in East Lansing.

Five things we think we learned from Ohio State football’s blowout of Michigan State

Here are five things we think we learned after Ohio State’s impressive showing on the road vs. Michigan State #GoBucks

This Ohio State football team seems to keep getting better and better with every challenge thrown in front of it. Injuries? No problem? First road game of the year? Fughetaboutdit. A game against a physical opponent? OK.

It’s all coming together even without the benefit of a fully healthy team. And while we have to be careful with still waiting to see what happens against a really, really good team, it’s becoming increasingly clear that the first game of the year vs. Notre Dame was just that — the first game of the year.

The Buckeyes just went to East Lansing and pasted the Spartans by a score of 49-20, and we’re reflecting back on the game to give you five things we think we learned about this team as we head off into the bye week.

Off we go like a TreVeyon Henderson off-tackle play.

Social media reacts to ridiculous Marvin Harrison Jr touchdown catch vs. Michigan State

What an insane, superhuman-type catch from Marvin Harrison Jr. Twitter was quick to react. #GoBucks

At some point, you run out of superlatives and jaws to drop with what we’re seeing from Ohio State receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. The super sophomore already made a tough, contested catch in the corner of the end zone early in the game against Michigan State off of a back-foot throw from C.J. Stroud.

But now, he channeled his inner Neo from the Matrix by catching one that was even better — and frankly– unbelievable, in the second half.

With the Buckeyes already up 35-13, Stroud absorbed some pressure and again went to the same well, throwing off his back foot to Harrison Jr again in the corner of the end zone, and well, you’ll just have to see the catch in slow motion to really appreciate it.

We’ll share the catch with you first for context in case you didn’t see it, but then give you some of the best Twitter reactions and celebrations of the ridiculous effort.

Twitter reacts to Julian Fleming’s long touchdown catch

Julian Fleming puts the Buckeyes up by two scores with a 51-yard touchdown catch. #GoBucks

C.J. Stroud is picking up right where he left off last season against Michigan State’s poor pass defense. Stroud has now thrown three touchdowns and we’re barely just into the second quarter as Ohio State looks to win its first road contest of the year.

The latest touchdown pass came on a beautiful toss to an open Julian Fleming for a 51-yard strike. Fleming had to use some speed as he raced to the endzone before being dragged down while crossing the goal line to put the Buckeyes up 21-7.

Check out the long score that puts the Buckeyes ahead and then see how Twitter responded.

WATCH: C.J. Stroud hits Emeka Egbuka for long 69-yard touchdown pitch and catch vs. Michigan State

WATCH: C.J. Stroud makes the right read, finds Emeka Egubka wide open and he takes it the rest of the way 69 yards for a TD against Michigan State. #GoBucks #OSUvsMSU

It’s been an interesting game so far for Ohio State in East Lansing as it deals with Michigan State on the road.

The Buckeyes had a quick stop on defense — thanks to an interception by Lathan Ramson on a deep ball — to get the ball for its first possession. Then Marvin Harrison Jr. did his thing and brought down a touchdown in traffic to put OSU up 7-0.

C.J. Stroud then followed that with a pick-six where it appeared he and receiver Emeka Egbuka were not on the same page. But that’s OK because Stroud and Egbuka seemed to have worked things out on the next series.

Stroud dropped back and found Egbuka wide open down the seam in a soft spot of the defense, hit him in stride, and Egbuka went the rest of the way behind the defense and took it to the house 69 yards to give Ohio State a 14-7 lead in the first quarter.

If you didn’t catch the play, we’ve got it for you to relive below.

This is Ohio State’s first road game of the year and it’s still up for grabs. The Buckeyes are favored to win it big, but the interception return for a touchdown by Michigan State could give them a boost to stay in this game. We’ll continue to monitor where things stand and bring you highlights and reactions as things happen.

Watch Marvin Harrison Jr gets Ohio State on the board with a spectacular catch

Twitter reacts to Marvin Harrison Jr. making an outstanding touchdown catch even with pass interference. #GoBucks

The son of the NFL Hall of Famer is at it again. After a Latham Ransom interception on the opening drive, Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud and company went to work and marched right down the field.

Stroud found Marvin Harrison Jr. streaking up the sideline and connected on a perfect pass to the wide receiver. Making the catch even that much more spectacular was the pass interference from the defense on the play. What an amazing display of focus by the young wideout.

See the reception below and then see what social media had to say as Ohio State looks to exert its will against Michigan State in East Lansing.

Five reasons Ohio State will be beat Michigan State Saturday

Five reasons Ohio State will beat Michigan State on the road Saturday. #GoBucks #OSUvsMSU

It’s game day Buckeye fans and Ohio State is tasked with going on the road for the first time in 2022 to face Big Ten foe Michigan State.

Many don’t expect this to be a game, but you just never know what type of situations you’ll encounter with taking a team to an away venue for the first time, especially when things have gone so smoothly at home. Oh, and OSU will be without a few key members in East Lansing, so depth could play an issue.

Still, many expect Ohio State to roll against a Michigan State team that’s lost three in a row and struggled mightily to be the force it was in 2021. Even last year, the Buckeyes were able to expose the Spartan defense, and that might be the case again.

Anyway, we think the Buckeyes should take care of business on Saturday, and here are five reasons why.

Ohio State vs. Michigan State Buckeyes Wire staff predictions

Here’s how our three writers see things playing out with Ohio State and Michigan State Saturday afternoon. #GoBucks #OSUvsMSU

It’s Ohio State football’s first road game of the year, and it looks like the Buckeyes will be without a couple of key members heading to East Lansing. But nobody is going to feel sorry for an Ohio State team going up against a Michigan State squad that’s lost three games in a row.

But in this year’s college football season, nobody seems to be immune to a letdown game and the Buckeyes can ill-afford to have one at this point in the season if they want to continue moving things toward all of the goals out in front of them.

We like to throw things over to all three of our writers to predict the score of each Ohio State game just before kickoff, and Phil, Mark, and Josh are ready to make a call on this one as well.

Here’s what our staff says about how this one will play out up in the mitten state.

Five of Ohio State football’s most memorable games vs. Michigan State

We walk down memory lane and look at five of the best Ohio State vs. Michigan State matchups from a Buckeye perspective. #GoBucks

The Ohio State Buckeyes will face the Michigan State Spartans for the 51st time in program history on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. ET. Against its conference opponent, Ohio State is 35-15. The largest margin of victory for the Buckeyes came last season as Ohio State put the hammer down, 56-7, with Ryan Day as head coach. The largest margin of victory for the Spartans came in 1965 when Michigan State won 32-7.

The first meeting between the two programs was in 1912 when the Buckeyes lost to the Spartans, 35-20. The two programs met last season and as we previously noted that was the biggest blowout Ohio State has ever provided. We will see what this season brings, but we wanted to provide recaps of five memorable games against Michigan State.
