Ohio State will host ESPN’s College Gameday for top-5 battle with Indiana

Ohio State football is no stranger to ESPN’s College Gameday, and it’ll see the event in Columbus on Saturday for its battle with Indiana.

Ohio State football is one of the best programs in the country, currently sitting No. 2 in almost every major poll, so it often gets to play following the hit ESPN show College Gameday.

The show will be returning to Columbus.

The Buckeyes will be playing following the event on campus for the second time this season. The first time College Gameday was in Eugene for the Buckeyes battle with the No. 1-ranked Oregon Ducks.

Here’s the official release from the show’s Twitter/X account.

Indiana, which has former James Madison head coach Curt Cignetti running the show, is undefeated this season. While its strength of schedule is certainly questionable, it has yet to lose, and that’s impressive in and of itself.

The Hoosiers were off this past Saturday and beat the Michigan Wolverines 20-15 the week prior. They have a few dominant wins over Nebraska 56-7 and Michigan State 47-10 over the last month.

Currently sitting 5th in the country, Indiana will get a chance to prove itself on a national stage. That said, FOX already announced this will be the game for its Big Noon Kickoff as well.

Expect a high-profile battle in Columbus on Saturday.

Best photos of Ohio State football’s victory over Indiana

Check out these amazing photos of Ohio State football’s victory over Indiana Saturday. #GoBucks

It was a cold, snowy day in Columbus, Ohio Saturday, but that’s how football is knit together in the Midwest towards the end of fall. The Indiana Hoosiers came to the ‘Shoe to try and shock Ohio State and the college football world, but it didn’t work out that way.

Instead, the Buckeyes used 340 yards on the ground and a balanced offense to win handily 56-14. It was just what the doctor ordered on the banks of the Olentangy after a couple of weeks of questionable game control on the offensive end.

With the snow falling, and with so many highlight-worthy plays, the football palate was ripe for some amazing photos. It just so happens that our USA TODAY Sports photographers were on hand to file away some high-resolution photos for your viewing pleasure as Ohio State remained unbeaten at 10-0 and on track for some pretty special things.

Here are some of the best photos we picked out in a scrolling library.

WATCH: What Indiana head coach Tom Allen said about Ohio State after the game

Tom Allen was complimentary of Ohio State in his postgame press conference. Watch and listen to what he said. #GoBucks

Indiana knew it would be an uphill climb both ways (apparently in snow) to come into the ‘Shoe and beat No. 2 Ohio State. It proved too big of a challenge: The Hoosiers gave up a bushel of big plays on defense and misfired often on offense against a talented and balanced team.

We always like to keep tabs on what the opposing head coach says about the Buckeyes after facing them, and head coach Tom Allen met with the media after the 56-14 loss as well. He sat down to discuss what he saw from his team, and to give Ohio State some compliments for what it did from its sideline.

Click on the video we’ve shared on our Buckeyes Wire YouTube channel and watch and listen to Allen talk about the talent of the Ohio State receiving corps, his team’s inability to stop the running game, the challenge facing the Buckeyes present and more.

Ohio State now prepares for a road trip to Maryland on Saturday before the big one back home against that team that shall not be named.

WATCH: Ryan Day, C.J. Stroud, and Kamryn Babb discuss Ohio State in over Indiana

Catch everything Ryan Day, C.J. Stroud, and Kamryn Babb said after the victory over Indiana Saturday. #GoBucks

The Ohio State football team did what it needed to do on Saturday. It blew out a struggling Indiana team, 56-14. Using a balanced attack, the Buckeyes cranked out a season-high 340 yards on the ground and racked up five more touchdown passes for C.J. Stroud.

The defense was the difference-maker, surrendering 269 yards and allowing three third-down conversions. Needless to say, head coach Ryan Day was very pleased after the game as he took his time at the podium to discuss what he saw out on the field.

In case you missed any of his comments, or the remarks of quarterback C.J. Stroud and receiver Kamryn Babb, you can catch them in their entirety in the below video thanks to the Ohio State Buckeyes Facebook page.

Watch and listen to Day and the two players discuss Babb’s journey, the injury concerns, how it was nice to get the offense rolling again, and more.

Recapping the Ohio State win over Indiana in Twitter highlights

Recapping the Ohio State football win over Indiana in a Twitter highlight recap. #GoBucks

Ohio State more than took care of business against Indiana on Saturday afternoon, winning impressively by a wide margin, 56-14. It was enough to cover the spread, but more importantly, the Buckeyes got things going on the ground and through the air in a balanced attack.

It was a performance everyone with any kind of interest in the Ohio State program was waiting for.

You probably watched the game, but even if you did, we like to recap all of the action in some Twitter highlights as things unfolded. And if you didn’t catch the entire contest, we like to provide some of the key moments in the game to get you up to speed in a scarlet and gray cliff-notes kind of way.

So, in case you were off doing other things or in case you simply want to re-live some of the high points of Ohio State’s win over Indiana, all you have to do is follow through these moments in the game in a chronological timeline.

Off we go …

Five things we think we learned from Ohio State football’s win over Indiana

Five things we are pretty sure we learned about Ohio State against Indiana Saturday. #GoBucks

Well, that went about as expected. Ohio State was a heavy favorite against Indiana at home and made good on that with an impressive 56-14 victory Saturday afternoon. The offense was more balanced than what we’ve seen over the last few weeks, even without some key pieces available.

We like to reflect upon every game that the Buckeyes play and pick out some main storylines to take away to formulate where this team is. There were all kinds of layers in this one with some of the questions about the running game and the Heisman race for C.J. Stroud, just to name a few.

Oh, and there was a little bit of weather to deal with as well, so yeah.  Here are five things we think we learned after the Buckeyes’ annihilation of Indiana on Saturday.

Twitter reacts to long Marvin Harrison Jr touchdown catch from C.J. Stroud

The C.J. Stroud to Marvins Harrison Jr. connection is still rocking and rolling #GoBucks

The Ohio State football team is currently putting the beatdown on the Indiana Hoosiers, 21-0, and despite most anticipating a slow start on this snowy Columbus afternoon, the Buckeyes look to be rolling on all cylinders. Most recently C.J. Stroud continues to make some highlight real passes to Marvin Harrison Jr. and this includes the most recent jaw-dropping 58-yard touchdown.

C.J. Stroud is currently playing out of his mind currently completing five of his seven passing attempts for 106 yards passing and two touchdowns with plenty of time to go in the game. Marvin Harrison Jr has been no slouch on his end either with two receptions for 58 yards and a touchdown.

Here’s the touchdown pass and some of the best Twitter reactions that followed.

Ohio State football issues injury and availability for Indiana, will be without key players Saturday

Ohio State football has released its availability report against Indiana. The Buckeyes will be without some key players. #GoBucks

The Ohio State football program has issued the availability report and injury status for the game against Indiana, and there are a few notable names that will not be taking part in this cold and mildly blustery Saturday contest.

Ohio State is in a bit of an awkward spot scheduling-wise as they are favored by more than five touchdowns against Indiana and would likely like to use this spot to rest some guys before the home stretch and the upcoming Michigan game. But after the struggles on offense last week against Northwestern and the College Football Playoff being a beauty contest, your guess as to who sits and who plays if this one gets out of hand is as good as mine.

Of note is the absence of TreVeyon Henderson and Jaxon Smith-Njigba again, as well as a game-time decision on starting right tackle Dawand Jones. It does look like the Buckeyes might get a boost with starting cornerback Cam Brown available after missing multiple weeks.

Here is how it all looks for Saturday.

Game-Time Decision

– OT Dawand Jones

– RB Chip Trayanum

– OC Toby Wilson

Unavailable

– RB T.C. Caffey

– RB TreVeyon Henderson

– TE Zach Herbstreit

– CB Lloyd McFarquhar

– DE Mitchell Melton

– LB Jalen Pace

– DT Zach Prater

– RB Evan Pryor

– LS Bradley Robinson

– WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba

– SAF Kourt Williams

With Henderson out again, look for Miyan Williams to get the bulk of the carries and for Dallen Hayden to spell him as needed a little more than last week.

Stay with us as we have reactions, analysis, and commentary before, during, and after the game Saturday.

Ohio State vs. Indiana Buckeyes Wire staff predictions

Here is out each of our writers sees Ohio State’s game against Indiana playing out on Saturday. #GoBucks

Ohio State is back home to host a reeling Indiana team Saturday and it looks like we might get our first wintry-type feel inside the ‘Shoe. Cold weather or not, the Buckeyes are supposed to handle the Hoosiers rather easily, but we’ve seen things like this turn into a dogfight, much like what we saw in Evanston last week at Northwestern.

The oddsmakers have this one being a blowout, as does much of the national media, but we like to throw it out to our writers to see what they say about the game. Phil, Mark, and Josh provide their predictions for every Ohio State football game in the fall, and they are using their crystal balls, magic eight balls, and virtual dart boards to figure this one out too.

Here’s what each of our writers at Buckeyes Wire say in predicting the score and outcome of Ohio State vs. Indiana on Saturday.
