Ohio State football to hold its Pro Day on March 23

Set your calendar if you are into watching Ohio State’s annual Pro Day for NFL scouts and executives.

If you are one of those folks that can’t get enough of all the lead-up to the 2022 NFL draft, including the NFL Scouting Combine this week, then we have something else to point out to you. The Ohio State football program will be holding its annual Pro Day on March 23, with all the festivities starting at 11:00 a.m. EDT.

Ohio State’s Pro Day is historically one of the most attended of any college in the country with typically over 100 NFL scouts, executives, and draft gurus. Expected to take part in this year’s Pro Day are the guys that already took part in the NFL Combine — wide receivers Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson, tight end Jeremy Ruckert, offensive tackles Thayer Munford and Nicholas Petit-Frere, defensive tackle Haskell Garrett, and defensive end Tyreke Smith.

You can also expect running back Master Teague, defensive tackle Antwuan Jackson, and wide receiver/cornerback Demario McCall. There may also be some surprise names hanging around including guys from some of the smaller colleges in the area.

OSU’s Pro Day is often picked up on television, so as soon as we have details, we will pass that information along.

Watch a behind-the-scenes Ohio State football pro day director’s cut featuring quarterback Justin Fields and his impressive showing.

You’ve already seen the highlights, and maybe you even watched a little bit of Ohio State’s pro day featuring an impressive showing by quarterback Justin Fields.

But have you seen the director’s cut of all the fun starring Fields? If not, we’re here to tell you that the Ohio State Football social media accounts shared a pretty interesting behind the scenes look at the OSU quarterback as he got ready, warmed up for all the festivities beforehand, and then showed out in front of all the NFL types last week.

The OSU creative team always does a fantastic job with these things, and there are some interesting tidbits in this one. Click on the below and watch why Fields’ 40-time could have been faster, all the joking beforehand, what former defensive end Chase Young said about the QB, and more. You can do it all in 4k thanks to the YouTube channel of Ohio State Football.

Tommy Togiai falls short of bench press record at Ohio State’s pro day, still raises money for charity

The Ohio State defensive tackle Tommy Togiai fell short of his goal on the bench press but still impressed and raised money for charity.

All in all, 14 different Buckeyes participated in the pro day at Ohio State Tuesday. It was an all-around display of incredible athletism. From Justin Fields 40 time and unbelievable display throwing the ball to Barron Browing leaping out of the Woody… it was something to behold.

But maybe the most impressive feat of the day was Tommy Togiai on the bench press. We told you earlier that the OSU defensive lineman was hoping to break a record by hitting 50 reps of 225 pounds while raising money for chairty at the same time.

Unfortunately, Togiai fell short in his efforts to break the record, but what he did was still astounding. Big Tom pushed out 40 reps with 225 on the bench press. Maybe even more amazing was Togia hitting 38 reps before taking a pause to rest. That’s just raw strength and stamina.

While Togiai didn’t break the record, what he did was still the stuff of legends. And by the way… he raised over $3,000 for his charity, LiFEsports at The Ohio State University.

Well done on all accounts Big Tom!

LOOK. NFL Twitter account shares video of ridiculous 2016 Ohio State football pro day

The NFL Twitter account shared some archived video of the 2016 Ohio State pro day. Watch Ezekiel Elliott, Joey Bosa, and Michael Thomas.

It’s hard to believe that it’s been that long ago. The Ohio State pro day in 2016 had an insane amount of talent. The NFL Twitter account reminded us of that when it shared some archived video of some of the Buckeye players going through the paces.

Just to jog your memory, that pro day was on the heels of an extremely talented 2015 team that somehow lost a game (to Michigan State in the rain and wind) and got put out of the collective minds of media members and the College Football Playoff committee because the narrative was set. It had running back Ezekiel Elliott, defensive end Joey Bosa, wide receiver Michael Thomas, and more.

Take a look at some of the moments from that day and take a journey down memory lane in watching what could be considered the most talented Ohio State team never to win a national title.

Pretty impressive indeed. Tune in Tuesday to watch the 2021 Ohio State pro day.

All Ohio State football players eligible for the 2021 NFL draft

Ohio State’s Tommy Togiai will try to break bench press record for charity

Ohio State defensive lineman will try to break the bench press record at OSU’s pro day to raise money for charity. Don’t count him out.

It came as somewhat of a surprise when Tommy Togiai decided to forgo his last year at Ohio State for the NFL draft. Togiai will take part in the OSU pro day this Tuesday, March 30 to showcase his skills and try to impress NFL scouts. But the defensive tackle who helped anchor one of the best lines in the country will try to do more than just that.

We all know these guys are strong, but I don’t think any of us realize just how strong. And Togiai is about to attempt something that seems so far out of the realm of possibility as he attempts to bench press 225 pounds 50 times! FIFTY!

If you’ve ever lifted weights, you know doing three sets of 10 can be taxing, but 50 reps in one set? Mindblowing.

So why the show of strength? Obviously, Togiai wants to showcase what he can do and hopefully improve his draft stock. But there is more to it than just that as the big man wants to give back to the community and is partnering with Ohio State’s LiFEsports initiative to do so.

For every rep that Togiai completes, a matching contribution will be made to LiFEsports. LiFEsports is a partnership between The Ohio State University’s College of Social Work, the OSU Department of Athletics, and the Department of Recreational Sports.

According to their website, the goal of LiFEsports is to increase the number and quality of sport and recreational programs available to youth, especially those from vulnerable circumstances.

What an admirable cause and way to give back. If Togiai can get to 50 reps, he will break the previous record of 49 reps held by Stephen Paea of Oregon State set in 2011.

If you would like to pledge to the cause, you can go to TommyTogiai’s “Pledge It” page to donate.

Ohio State football sets its pro day for NFL draft prospects

According to dates released by the NFL, Ohio State football will be holding its annual pro day on Tuesday, March 30 this year.

Ohio State’s annual pro day for potential NFL draftees will take place on March 30 this year. The news comes by way of an announcement of all the college programs pro days according to NFL.com.

There has been no official list of players expected to take part in the annual event, but with the NFL combine being a non-traditional event this year that won’t have all of the normal on-field workouts, one has to believe that most  draft-eligible players will want to take part and show what they can do in the only real forum they’ll be able to show off in front of NFL scouts and executives.

Ohio State had to forego its pro day last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and there are still some logistics to work out for this year’s version, but at least it looks like it’ll be held.
