Ohio State football releases game trailer for Penn State game

Good is not good enough #GoBucks

Ohio State finds itself in a must-win situation. Each week is now effectively a playoff game if the Buckeyes want to control their own destiny. The next test … undefeated Penn State.

The Ohio State football creative team has released its newest edition of game trailers featuring defensive line coach Larry Johnson. It’s very reminiscent of Urban Meyer’s speech about how being average isn’t good enough. Good isn’t good enough if you want to be great. I mean, James Franklin knows that after his pulpit moment preaching about being elite a few years ago after a loss to the Buckeyes.

But I digress.

Ohio State hints at possible alternate uniform for Oregon game

“Sub-Zero” #GoBucks

Oregon announced some time ago that its game with Ohio State would be a “blackout” game. The team will be wearing an all-black look from one of its many uniform combinations and has instructed fans to wear black to the game as well.

Well, the Ducks aren’t the only team in America with some alternate looks. Last week, the Buckeyes threw on the all-gray ensemble for Iowa and now there are hints of Ohio State wearing something non-traditional for the game in Eugene.

The official Ohio State Football X account flashed an image of a Buckeye helmet emerging from what looks like the wooded grounds of the Pacific Northwest as it gets covered with frost. This is leading many to believe that OSU will be wearing its all-white unis.

Ohio State has only worn the white shirt, white pants combo three times before, but it’s been a while. The first version was revealed in 2013 on the road against Michigan. That same version was worn a year later at Penn State.

A newer edition known as “sub-zero” has only been worn once before, which took place in 2020 at Michigan State. It should be noted, that all three games the all-white combo has been donned resulted in victory for the Buckeyes. Let’s hope for a fourth against the Ducks!

Ohio gifted Oregon a Buckeye tree 66 years ago that still stands on campus today

Cool story from history #GoBucks

It’s not uncommon for those holding political office to make friendly wagers with each other on big games played between their cities and states. Many times it involves something small such as a jersey or a food that is local to the geographic region. But in 1958, a different kind of bet was made.

According to NBC 4 in Columbus, the governors of Ohio and Oregon made a bet on who would win the Rose Bowl featuring the Buckeyes and the Ducks. However, this time the winner would receive something that would last much longer than a meal. Oregon governor Robert Holmes wagered a Douglas Fir, Oregon’s state tree and Ohio governor C. William O’Neill bet a Buckeye tree, Ohio’s state tree. Whichever team lost would send the other a state tree to plant.

Ohio State would win in a hard-fought battle by a score of 10-7. Holmes upheld his end of the deal and sent the Douglas Fir to Ohio where it was planted at the governor’s mansion. However, O’Neill was so impressed with the Duck’s performance that he decided to send two trees to Oregon. Holmes being an Oregon grad, decided to have the Buckeye tree planted on campus where it still stands today outside of the Oregon College of Business.

The Buckeye tree is still there today 66 years later, standing over 60 feet tall, dropping buckeyes each year. Though we probably wouldn’t see something like this today, it’s an interesting fact and a piece of history that connects generations of football fans.

WATCH: Ohio State vs. Iowa trailer: ‘Threaded Tradition’

Do these get your heart racing? #GoBucks

It’s that time of the week again when the Ohio State football creative team drops the trailer for the weekend’s game. In this case, the Buckeyes are back home after dismantling Michigan State last Saturday to host 3-1 Iowa in the ‘Shoe.

The Buckeyes remain undefeated, and there’s a good chance this will be their stiffest test to date against a well coached Hawkeye team that will look to play ball possession and solid defense en route to an upset.

OSU is highly favored in the contest, but it can’t take anyone lightly, least of which an Iowa squad that’ll be out to make a statement on the season.

To commemorate the game, Ohio State social media accounts dropped the trailer for the contest against Iowa with former defensive back Mike Doss providing the narration alongside the gray uniforms the Buckeyes will be wearing.

If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, get a look and get yourself in game mode for Saturday afternoon.

Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. so set your DVRs, get your popcorn and beverages ready, and check back with Buckeyes Wire often before, during, and after the game for complete preview, reaction, and analysis.

WATCH: Ohio State football drops Michigan State trailer

Time for another game, this time on the road! #GoBucks

It’s time for another step of a 2024 journey the Ohio State football team hopes ends in a lot of confetti and trophies. So far, the Buckeyes have looked fantastic against competition that nobody will mistake for a Lord of the Rings type saga, but the team is still impressively undefeated.

Next up, OSU casts aside nonconference play for the season to begin its run through the new and improved Big Ten when it travels to play its first road contest of the year against Michigan State.

Ohio State is a heavy betting favorite for this matchup and the entire Milky Way Galaxy would be put on notice if the Spartans were able to pull off the upset.

The OSU football creative team is ready to get you pumped for the tussle on Saturday night and shared the latest Buckeye football trailer titled, “The Climb.” Have a listen and watch the short, cinematic masterpiece to get you ready for the game.

Ohio State and Michigan State are set to do battle at 7:30 p.m. ET on Peacock. Stay with us before, during, and after for more coverage and analysis.

Ohio State football releases game trailer for Marshall game

Everything for the Block O #GoBucks

In what is becoming cinematic art, the Ohio State media team has released its Week 4 hype video featuring music from Kendrick Lamar. It feels like the team outdoes itself each week, combining highlights with inspirational lines from coaches and even former players.

This week, everything is for the “Block O,” as the Buckeyes get ready to take on Marshall for the third time ever. Ohio State welcomed Marshall for the first time 20 years ago in 2004, where the pesky Thundering Herd hung around all the way to the end. Kicker Mike Nugent would have to make a 50-yard field goal with just seconds left to secure the victory for the Buckeyes. Hopefully, things won’t be quite as dramatic this time around.

Give the video a watch and get yourself ready to run through a wall.
