Broncos can wear alternate or throwback uniforms 3 times this season

The Broncos can wear an alternate OR throwback uniform up to three times per season. We’ll likely see the blue jerseys worn at least once.

The Denver Broncos unveiled new primary, alternate and throwback uniforms on Monday. With blue, orange and white options for their jerseys, pants and helmets, the Broncos can mix and match to make nine different jersey/pants/helmet combinations, plus a 10th throwback look.

The Broncos will keep orange as their primary jersey and the dark navy blue will be the team’s alternate jersey. Denver also introduced a 1977-inspired throwback uniform with an orange jersey and light blue helmet.

The Broncos will wear their primary blue jersey for most home games and their primary white jersey for road games. Denver can wear an alternate or throwback uniform up to three times per season.

The Broncos will likely wear their blue jersey as an alternate at least once this year, which means the throwback uniform won’t be worn more than twice in 2024. Unfortunately, Denver can’t wear an all-white alternate uniform because the blue jersey has been designated as their alternate jersey.

So unless the Broncos introduce a white alternate jersey in the future, the team’s white alternate helmet will be paired with the navy alternate jersey. And that alternate uniform will cut into the number of times the throwback uniform can be worn each season.

Judging by how well the throwback uniform has been received, fans in Denver probably won’t be too pleased to hear this news.

Colts to wear ‘Indiana Nights’ uniform vs. Browns

The Colts will debut their ‘Indiana Nights’ uniforms on Sunday.

The Indianapolis Colts will be unveiling an alternate set of uniforms dubbed “Indiana Nights” when they host the Cleveland Browns on Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium.

It was made known before the start of the season that the Colts would be debuting this set of alternate uniforms, which features a black helmet, a double-white stripe on the shoulder and a blue heather material.

In the weekly media guide release, the Colts gave this tagline for the uniform debut:

Decades of tradition meets a new, bolder look inspired by the blue and black of the Indiana night skies. Designed to honor our home state and the resiliency that drives us every day. These are our “Indiana Nights.”

While keeping the classic numbers, the addition of the black trim and helmets is a new concept for the Colts. Meanwhile, the Indiana “C” logo with the state outlined inside the letter will be on the left shoulder of every uniform, which should not be confused with the Captain’s “C.”

The Colts and Browns are set to kickoff at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday.

Commanders to wear black alternate uniforms on Thursday night vs. Bears

The Commanders break out the black alternates for the first time in 2023.

The Washington Commanders will break out the all-black alternate uniforms for their Thursday Night Football game against the Chicago Bears.

Washington debuted the new black alternates last year when the team rebranded from the “Football Team” to the Commanders. Washington wore the uniforms three times last season, winning one game and losing two.

The Commanders debuted the uniforms against the Dallas Cowboys and lost 25-10. They wore them in a Week 9 home game against the Minnesota Vikings in Kirk Cousins’ return to FedEx Field and lost on a last-second field goal.

The Commanders’ only win in the alternate uniforms came in Week 12 against the Atlanta Falcons.

Many Washington fans are still getting accustomed to the all-black uniforms. Some like them. Some don’t — just like the name.

Huskers unveil alternate uniforms for Memorial Stadium’s 100th anniversary

Alternate uniforms have become all the rage in college football over the years.

Alternate uniforms have become all the rage in college football over the years. Nebraska didn’t embrace the trend until the 2009 season.

Over the years, the Cornhuskers have worn some unique designs. The last alternate uniform Nebraska wore was last season when the Huskers honored the 1983 team.

The program will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Nebraska football at Memorial Stadium with another alternate uniform. The Huskers will wear their standard red jerseys but will incorporate a blue border around the numbers.

The blue border will honor the first game Nebraska played at Memorial Stadium when Cornhuskers wore blue uniforms. The Huskers wore blue uniforms to allow the visiting Oklahoma Sooners to wear red.

There are other subtle changes to the uniforms, such as a patch to honor Memorial Stadium. The Huskers will wear the uniforms on October 21 when Nebraska will host Northwestern.

Ohio State football drops pics of their new, complete, alternate gray uniforms

This look is gonna pop! #GoBucks

After a few weeks of hinting a new alternate uniform was coming, Ohio State football released pictures of a brand new all-gray look. And, boy, do they look sharp!

Nike and the OSU football team took a page straight from the basketball playbook to generate a powder-gray look. With Scarlet numbers and trim, everything just pops. While it isn’t the iconic duds typically worn by the Buckeyes on Saturday afternoons, even the most die-hard traditionalists can’t get too upset about this combo. It keeps the classic Scarlet and Gray color combination and the helmet and Buckeye leaves remain untouched.

Ohio State will wear this look on Saturday, Nov. 11 when the Buckeyes host Michigan State for an unusual night game late in the season. We know none of this matters if the team can’t get it done on the field. But the kids love the alternate looks, so look for the Bucks to come out amped up to lay a whoopin’ on the Spartans.

Feel free to take a look at our top-five alternate Buckeye uniforms ranked a few years ago … however, with the recent editions, we’re going to have to do a re-rank soon. Go Bucks!

Twitter reacts to Colts’ new alternate uniforms

Here’s how Twitter reacted to the Colts’ unveiling alternate uniforms.

The Indianapolis Colts unveiled a set of alternate uniforms for the 2023 season, announcing the “Indiana Nights” uniform Thursday.

The all-blue look with black helmets will be a first for the franchise when they don the uniforms in Week 7 against the Cleveland Browns at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Here’s how Twitter reacted to the unveiling of these uniforms:

Get a sneak peek at the Ohio State football gray uniform for the Michigan State game

Do you like what you see with these? #GoBucks

Last week, the Ohio State football Twitter account teased us all with the notion that some alternate uniforms were in the mix — and gray ones at that. The date of the night game against Michigan State was clearly the game to watch according to the tweet, so we’re all waiting for more.

For those of you keeping track, that doesn’t mean the same gray duds OSU players wore for the game against Penn State in 2017, the “Land of the Wolves” jerseys. Those have reportedly been retired.

So, it looks like we might be seeing some new gray alternates unveiled. And, thanks to a somewhat small reveal on Monday, we got our first look at what the uniforms could look like on the night of Nov. 11.

We’ll warn you, it doesn’t provide the full picture, but you can at least get a peek at what the players will jog out of the tunnel wearing. See below with the red accents.

Of course, as more is shared we’ll bring it to you. This is promising though and looks pretty remarkable even with only the little bit we see.

Stay tuned.

Did Ohio State football just hint at new alternate uniforms?

What would you think of an all gray ensemble? #GoBucks

Here at BuckeyesWire, we love all things uniforms. I mean, look good, play good, right? Regardless of your personal opinion on the matter, alternate uniforms are here to stay. And it looks like Nike and Ohio State are cooking up something new for November 11.

The Ohio State Football official Twitter page posted a blank gray square with the exception of a single date. November 11 happens to be a Saturday on the calendar, one which the Buckeyes will take on Michigan State in a prime-time matchup on NBC. Could OSU be planning a special look for the game?

Many fans on social media are speculating. Several have offered, maybe even hoping, for the dark gray ensemble which was dubbed “Land of Wolves.” However, several have noted that the uniform donned against Penn State in a historic comeback circa 2017 has been retired. We have no official word on if that rumor is true or not.

Others have offered that Nike and Ohio State are going to be offering something entirely new. An all gray look with scarlet accents. Some on social media have offered this rendering, although again, it is all speculation.

If that is the look, you have to admit, it looks pretty sharp. Even the traditionalists can’t get too upset about this one as it stays true to the Scarlet and Gray.

Either way, something is coming on November 11 and the Ohio State PR team has done a great job of whetting the appetite. Stay tuned… when we know, you’ll know.

In the meantime, take a look at our top-five alternate Buckeye uniforms ranked a few years ago.

Seahawks to wear Wolf Gray alternates against Cardinals

Sunday will mark the fifth straight game the Seahawks have worn this uniform in Arizona, and the 8th time overall in the last 11 seasons.

Late Saturday afternoon, the Seattle Seahawks announced their uniform combo for their upcoming game against the Arizona Cardinals. Making their annual appearance, the Seahawks will be rocking the all Wolf Gray alternates.

Although not nearly as divisive as the all Action Green uniforms, the 12th Man is a little split on the Wolf Gray’s. Some love them, while others consider it to be one of the weaker options for Seattle. But what is undeniable is the success the Seahawks enjoy when letting the wolves out to play.

Since they were introduced in the 2012 season, the Seahawks boast a lofty 12-2-1 all time record when wearing the Wolf Gray alternates.

Seattle has developed a habit of wearing this combo when they travel to the Valley of the Sun to play the Cardinals. Sunday will mark the fifth straight game the Seahawks have worn this uniform in Arizona, and the 8th time overall in the last 11 seasons.

For those who are curious, here is an updated list of the Seahawks’ record in each uniform combination (postseason included) since 2012:

All blue: 62-23

All white: 6-9

All gray: 12-2-1

All green: 5-1

Green jersey/blue pants: 3-0

White jersey/blue pants: 24-17

Blue jersey/gray pants: 4-5

White jersey/gray pants 3-8
