Former Ohio State star Braxton Miller selected to the OSU Athletics Hall of Fame

Congrats to B-Miller #GoBucks

Former human highlight reel and Buckeye quarterback/receiver Braxton Miller will be a part of the Ohio State Athletics Hall of Fame class of 2024 according to new he shared on his X account Thursday night.

Those old enough remember Miller well. Out of Wayne High School in Huber Heights, Ohio, he came to OSU as a highly sought after quarterback recruited by Jim Tressel. It didn’t take long for Miller to show flashes of his playmaking ability, getting on the field during his freshman campaign in 2011 and eventually taking over the starting job before going on to win the Big Ten’s Quarterback, Offensive Player of the Year, and MVP in 2012 and 2013.

A shoulder injury derailed his season in 2014 when the Buckeyes won the national title, but he came back, switching to receiver in 2015 when he put the Virginia Tech Hokies in the spin cycle.

Miller was know for his ability to keep plays alive with his electric playmaking ability, often turning dead plays into positive gains with his ability to ad-lib. He’ll forever be known as one of the best to play under center in Columbus.

He eventually went on to play in the NFL, originally being drafted by the Houston Texans in the third round of the draft. He never really carved out a niche in the League however and was shipped around to the Eagles, Browns, and Panthers but was mostly relegated to practice squad duty.

Congratulations are indeed in order for a player that was awfully fun to watch in Scarlet and Gray.

Three former football stars make Ohio State Athletics Hall Of Fame

What an honor #GoBucks

With such a storied football history, the [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] football program has plenty of representation in the school’s athletic Hall of Fame.

That list is about to grow. Three of this year’s 14 inductees announced on Thursday were former Buckeye football stars. When they are enshrined into the Ohio State Athletics Hall of Fame, they will join an illustrious group of some of the greatest players to take the field in Ohio Stadium and around the Big Ten.

Two of the names you’ll see below are recent players, but all three were extremely highly decorated Buckeyes. Check out below which former Buckeyes will be honored as Hall of Fame members.

Ohio State Athletics Hall of Fame to induct 15 members

A new crop of Ohio State Hall of Fame inductees have been announced. Aaron Craft headlines the 15 members. #GoBucks

It’s the pinnacle of any sport, at least on an individual basis. Nothing can really top being inducted into a Hall of Fame.

Such is the case at Ohio State. Every year, the OSU athletic department inducts several former student-athletes into the Ohio State Athletics Hall of Fame, and it’s no different in 2021.

Headlining this year’s class is former Ohio State basketball player, Aaron Craft, but there are 14 others that will also be honored this fall. The group will be officially inducted during a dinner September 9 in the Covelli Center and introduced at Ohio Stadium when the Buckeye football team hosts Arkansas State September 10.

There are currently 458 members of the Ohio State Athletics Hall of Fame since its inception back in 1977. The fifteen members that will add to that class are the following according to a release from OSU.

  • Billy Ray Anders (football)
  • Greg Bice (men’s lacrosse)
  • John Bluem (men’s soccer coach)
  • Charles W. Bolen (football/men’s basketball)
  • Joel Brown (men’s track)
  • Aaron Craft (men’s basketball)
  • Adam Crompton (men’s fencing)
  • Jenna Harris Griffin (women’s track)
  • Alayna Markwordt (women’s lacrosse)
  • Russ Nagelson (baseball)
  • Shawn Springs (football)
  • Logan Stieber (wrestling)
  • Jonathan Sweet (baseball)
  • Tom Tupa (football)
  • Dan Whitacre (wrestling)

Congratulations to all of these former Buckeyes for an honor well-deserved, and in some cases, long overdue.
