Ohio State hints at possible alternate uniform for Oregon game

“Sub-Zero” #GoBucks

Oregon announced some time ago that its game with Ohio State would be a “blackout” game. The team will be wearing an all-black look from one of its many uniform combinations and has instructed fans to wear black to the game as well.

Well, the Ducks aren’t the only team in America with some alternate looks. Last week, the Buckeyes threw on the all-gray ensemble for Iowa and now there are hints of Ohio State wearing something non-traditional for the game in Eugene.

The official Ohio State Football X account flashed an image of a Buckeye helmet emerging from what looks like the wooded grounds of the Pacific Northwest as it gets covered with frost. This is leading many to believe that OSU will be wearing its all-white unis.

Ohio State has only worn the white shirt, white pants combo three times before, but it’s been a while. The first version was revealed in 2013 on the road against Michigan. That same version was worn a year later at Penn State.

A newer edition known as “sub-zero” has only been worn once before, which took place in 2020 at Michigan State. It should be noted, that all three games the all-white combo has been donned resulted in victory for the Buckeyes. Let’s hope for a fourth against the Ducks!

Ohio State football to break out the alternate uniforms for Iowa

Ohio State football break out the alternate uniforms for Iowa #GoBucks

Ohio State football will be breaking out the all-gray alternate uniforms for its Saturday game against the Iowa Hawkeyes, which kicks off at 3:30 p.m. on CBS. It is a tad odd that the Buckeyes won’t be breaking these bad boys out on prime time, but there is no doubt that these alternates are a fan favorite for many, and showcasing them in the first home Big Ten contest seems like a worthy scenario.

Last season, Ohio State wore the all-gray look against the Michigan State Spartans, earning a victory in style to the tune of 38-3. The Buckeyes have made many strides in the fashion department in the last few years including an all-black look that was worn against the Wisconsin Badgers in 2022, as well as the all-scarlet uniform seen during the 2021 contest against the Penn State Nittany Lions.

Ohio State is expected to whip out the all-scarlet uniforms against the Nebraska Cornuskers later in the year, so this season will feature some fun combinations.

Ohio State football teases then shows off alternate gray uniforms

What do you think of these Buckeye alternate uniforms? #GoBucks

Many of us love when [autotag]Ohio State football[/autotag] wears alternate uniforms, and its social media team did a great job building up some excitement for this weekend’s look.

As the Buckeyes are set to host Michigan State, they will be wearing a unique combination of all gray, with scarlet numbers and lettering.

The Ohio State football social media team started teasing the look on Sunday, just after the Buckeyes turned the page from Rutgers and are preparing to face the Spartans for another stop on a journey they hope ends with some pretty special things.

Take a look below at the multiple posts that were shared leading up to the reveal of the gray alternate Ohio State football uniforms.

Ohio State basketball throws out new uniform idea

The Ohio State social media department got bored and came up with perfection. Buckeye Nation needs to help make this a reality! #GoBucks

Here at Buckeyes Wire, we love all things uniforms. I mean, look good, play good… right? Well, it’s not always that simple, but the uniform game has become a big deal in recent years and Ohio State basketball has done an outstanding job of making what was old, new again.

In an effort to get fans more engaged in the process, the Ohio State hoops Twitter account will ask an opinion poll of what uniform fans would like to see. The choices are usually the Clark Kellogg throwbacks in scarlet or white, the Jimmy Jackson powder grays, or the modern look. The choice usually comes down to Kellogg 80s or the Jackson 90s look.

However, whoever the person is who runs the OSU basketball Twitter account may have just struck gold on a whim. What if we combined the script Buckeyes of the Kellogg era with the powder gray of the Jackson era? The result… flawless.

Take a look!

As the designer said, this isn’t a real uniform… yet. Giving fans some hope, it was stated that if we get enough retweets, maybe the idea could get presented for consideration. Could you imagine Ohio State taking the floor in powder gray script look? A mashing of two worlds to create perfection.

Let’s go Buckeye Nation! It’s time to do your thing and make this thing of beauty a reality!

LOOK. Ohio State unveils all-white uniforms to be worn for Illinois game Saturday

The Ohio State football team officially unveiled its all-white uniforms it will wear Saturday on the road at Illinois.

It was already teased and reported, but now we have an official look at the all-white uniforms the Ohio State football team will be wearing against Illinois this Saturday.

It’ll mark the first time OSU has worn alternate jerseys since the all-blacks were worn against Michigan State on October 5, and the first time alternate true road jerseys have been broken out since the game against Michigan in Ann Arbor on November 25, 2017.

These beauties will have a similar look to what we’ve seen before when Ohio State busted out the all-whites, except this time the traditional headgear with the Buckeye leaves will be worn as opposed to the alternate helmets with the wider scarlet striping.

Here’s a look at what Ohio State Football shared on its Twitter account Tuesday.

I have to admit, I’m not generally a fan of all-white ensembles, but Jonathon Cooper (if that is indeed him) looks pretty sharp in these duds. Let’s hope the team plays as good as it looks on Saturday at Noon on FS1.
