Notre Dame basketball makes top 6 for 2025 Maryland 4-star guard

The Irish advance in the guards recruitment

As the search for Notre Dame basketball’s first 2025 commit continues, it is being considered by some highly sought-after prospects.

One of them is Maryland shooting guard [autotag]Adrien Stevens[/autotag], who on Tuesday announced that he has trimmed his list of schools to six. Along with the Irish, the 6-foot, 4-inch and 195-pounder has Tennessee, Marquette, Villanova, Georgetown and Florida State in his top group.

Stevens is ranked as the nation’s No. 121 overall prospect and 18th ranked shooting guard according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. Notre Dame offered him a scholarship at the end of January, so the relationship has been building since then.

He’s only taken official visits to Marquette and Villanova, but you would have to expect that one to South Bend will happen in the near future.

Notre Dame basketball small forward target will commit this Wednesday

The Irish could finally land its first 2025 commitment

The search for Notre Dame basketball’s first 2025 recruit continues, and on Wednesday it will find out if that will change.

North Carolina forward [autotag]Colt Langdon[/autotag] has narrowed down his list to three schools and will make his choice this Wednesday, July 10th according to On3’s Joe Tipton. LSU, Butler and the Irish will each have a hat on the table for the nation’s No. 135 overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

The Irish offered the 6-foot, 7-inch 205-pound Langdon in October, with Butler being his first offer of his finalists. The Tigers came to the plate late, as they pulled the trigger on a scholarship in March.

Right now, Langdon has one 247Sports Crystal Ball pick in for the Bulldogs, and it was made today. The Irish could still get a commitment from him, but it might be an uphill battle over the next few days.

Notre Dame basketball will official host 4-star North Carolina small forward Jackson Keith

The North Carolina star will be on campus in the fall

Notre Dame basketball is still waiting for its first 2025 commitment, but the work behind the scenes from head coach [autotag]Micah Shrewsberry[/autotag] and staff has been fantastic.

The Irish are contending for multiple top prospects, one of those is North Carolina small forward [autotag]Jackson Keith[/autotag]. The 6-foot, 6-inch and 220-pounder will make an official visit to South Bend starting on October 12th according to League Ready.

It’s a bit odd that he does not have a reported offer from Notre Dame, but you have to believe that it is coming before or during his visit. Keith is the nation’s No. 116 overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Michigan 2025 5-star shooting guard has set up a visit to Notre Dame basketball

The Irish will get a shot to wow one of the nation’s top guards

Notre Dame basketball has done enough to impress Michigan shooting guard [autotag]Trey McKenney[/autotag] for him to schedule a visit to South Bend in the near future.

The 6-foot, 4-inch and 225-pound shooter is considered one of the top players nationally. McKenney is ranked as the No. 16 overall prospect and 3rd at his position according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

According to a report by Joe Tipton of On3, McKenney has scheduled visits to USC, Michigan State, Oregon, Creighton and the Irish. Just by reading between the recruiting lines, Notre Dame seems to be in a very good position with the 5-star prospect as he moves on in his recruitment.

McKenney is also considering visiting a few other schools, but nothing has been set up with them at the moment. The schools that do have visit upcoming should be viewed as the favorites in his recruitment.

Notre Dame basketball makes top 8 for one of nation’s best 2025 centers

The Irish are still in the mix for the elite center

Notre Dame men’s basketball is still without a 2025 commitment, but head coach Micah Shrewsberry is hard at work to make that change in the near future.

One of his biggest targets, literally and figuratively is 2025 Kentucky center [autotag]Malachi Moreno[/autotag]. The 6-foot, 11-inch and 230-pound star trimmed his list down to eight schools on Monday: Arkansas, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio State, North Carolina, Iowa and Louisville.

Moreno is ranked as the nation’s No. 2 center and 28th overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He took an unofficial visit to South Bend last year in September, and for the Irish to really be in the mix, they need for him to get back on campus.

Notre Dame basketball offers 2025 5-star Virginia power forward

The Irish enter the 5-stars recruitment

It was quite the day for 2025 Virginia power forward [autotag]Nate Ament[/autotag] on Monday afternoon.

The 6-foot, 9-inch and 185-pound star received three big time offers: Oregon, Kentucky and Notre Dame. Ament is ranked as one of the top players in the country, the No. 16 overall prospect and 5th ranked power forward according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

If head coach Micah Schrewsberry is able to convince Ament to join the Irish, it would be his biggest recruiting win since taking over of the program. The Irish currently don’t have a commitment in the 2025 class, so starting off with a 5-star would be a huge boost to the program.

Clearly it won’t be an easy recruiting win for Notre Dame, as they are contending with some of the best programs in the country. It’s still too early to know where Ament is leaning towards, especially since he has yet to take any official visits.

If one is to South Bend, you can bet the red carpet will be rolled out.

Notre Dame basketball was quick to reach out to 2026 shooting guard

The Irish wasted no time in contacting a big time Michigan shooter

Over the weekend, the basketball recruiting calendar switched over to the 2026 class, meaning that prospects could now be contacted by schools.

Notre Dame basketball was quick to reach out to Michigan shooting guard [autotag]Jacob Pleyer[/autotag]. The 6-foot, 3-inch and 170-pound prospect isn’t currently ranked by any of the major recruiting services, but looking at who also reached out, he very well could be in the near future.

On top of Notre Dame, schools like Toledo, Western Michigan and Kent State also got a hold of Pleyer, showing that he has the ability to play major Division I basketball at the next level.

The Irish currently do not have a commitment in the 2026 class.

College Football Playoff unveils 2025 schedule, first with 12 teams

The future is here.

If you ever have wanted the college football season to extend to almost throughout January, you’re in luck. With the College Football Playoff expanding to 12 teams, the calendar also had to be expanded.

Now, we know exactly how many weeks will be required to determine the national champion, when each game will be played and which network will televise each game. Here’s the 2025 schedule:

While Notre Dame is expected to contend for the playoff this season, we obviously don’t know if they’ll be good enough to host a first-round game assuming they even make it. Just to play it safe, it would be wise if neither of the Irish basketball teams had games scheduled at Purcell Pavilion that weekend, at least until that Sunday.

This new format undoubtedly will take some getting used to, but this is the way college football is now. It’s now as much about timing as regular-season performance. Traditionalists might not like it, but it is what it is.

Could Notre Dame football’s newest commitment Mark Zackery play two sports in South Bend?

Another multi-sport athlete is heading to South Bend

It is not uncommon for Notre Dame athletes to play two sports, and on Monday was a perfect example of that as football and lacrosse star [autotag]Jordan Faison[/autotag] helped the Irish win a National Title.

Luminary names like Jeff Samardzija and Cole Kmet played football and baseball, and Notre Dame’s newest football commit could follow in their paths. Indianapolis cornerback [autotag]Mark Zackery[/autotag] verballed to the Irish on Saturday, but not many know that he could potentially play basketball at the next level as well.

It has been reported by Notre Dame Hoops Recruits that Zackery and basketball head coach Micah Schrewsberry have been in communication about playing on the hardwood as well.

It remains to be seen if Zackery will actually play both in South Bend, but it does tell us how great of an athlete he is.

Notre Dame communicating regularly with 2025 Florida shooting guard

Hope he ultimately picks the Irish.

So far, Notre Dame has not received any commitments for its 2025 recruiting class. Naturally, the only way to change that is to stay in constant contact with the recruits who might ultimately fill that list. One of those is four-star shooting guard recruit Dante Allen from Riviera Prep in Miami. At least that’s the case according to recruiting insider Jake Lieberman:

What makes this particular case interesting is that Notre Dame currently is not listed among the schools interested in him on 247Sports. In fairness though, the timeline on his profile hasn’t been updated since the late summer of 2022, so who knows how accurate that is?

Allen is the No. 10 2025 recruit in Florida according to 247Sports in a class that includes the twin sons of former NBA player Carlos Boozer. This past season, he averaged 21.0 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.4 steals a game.

A two-way guard would be a nice get for an Irish team still trying to build its culture. Of course, Allen has to say yes in the end. We’ll see how this goes.
