North Texas at UAB picks and predictions

Prediction

UAB 79, North Texas 71

Moneyline

PASS.

While not by much, the UAB (-150) spread has better value.

Against the spread

BET UAB -2.5 (-110).

Three of North Texas’ 5 losses have come on the road this season, and it is coming off a straight-up loss as a 15-point home favorite. It has scored 58 or fewer points in back-to-back games.

UAB has scored 78 or more points in 8 of its last 10 games and covered 5 of its last 6 as a favorite. It is 10-3 at home this season and scored 96 points last time out on Saturday. For the Blazers, a win nearly guarantees a cover, and their offense has been too hot to fade.

Over/Under

BET OVER 137.5 (-110).

While the Mean Green have struggled offensively over their last 2 games, they have scored 72 or more points in 5 of their last 9 and hit the Over in 4 of their last 7.

The Blazers have scored 77 or more points in 9 of their last 10 games while allowing 76 or more in 5 of their last 6. They have hit the Over in 2 of their last 3.

Temple at North Texas picks and predictions

Prediction

North Texas 73, Temple 69

Moneyline

PASS.

While the Mean Green (-500) are 9-0 at home and Temple is just 2-3 on the road, the price is too high on North Texas ML.

Against the spread

BET TEMPLE +9.5 (-110).

Mashburn is 5th in the nation in scoring at 21.3 points per game and will be key in the Owls sticking in this matchup. Temple is 6-3 ATS in its last 9 games and has covered 5 of its last 6, including 3 straight as an underdog.

Over/Under

BET OVER 133.5 (-115).

The Mean Green have hit the Over in 2 of their last 3 games and scored 68 or more points in 7 of their last 9.

First Responder Bowl: North Texas vs. Texas State odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s North Texas vs. Texas State odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The First Responder Bowl in Dallas features the North Texas Mean Green (6-6) of the AAC facing the Texas State Bobcats (7-5) of the Sun Belt. Kickoff Friday at Gerald J. Ford Stadium at 4 p.m. ET (ESPN). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the North Texas vs. Texas State odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

North Texas went 3-5 in conference play and salvaged bowl eligibility in the final game of the season on Nov. 30 by snapping a 5-game losing streak and beating the Temple Owls on the road 24-17. They failed to cover the 11.5-point spread as favorites.

Texas State went 5-3 in conference play, finishing second in the Sun Belt West division. The Bobcats won 3 of their last 4 games, averaging 46.3 points in those games. They finished the regular season beating South Alabama Jaguars 45-38 on the road and covering the 2.5-point spread as favorites.

North Texas vs. Texas State picks and predictions

Prediction

Texas State 42, North Texas 27

Moneyline

North Texas didn’t score more than 28 points in their last 4 games despite averaging 488.7 yards per game on the season, the No. 3 offense in the country.

Texas State didn’t score fewer than 38 points in their final 4 games and averaged 37.1 points per game all season.

These are 2 productive offenses, but Texas State’s defense only gives up 24.2 per game.

But -550 odds aren’t worth any wager.

PASS.

Against the spread

Five of the Texas State’s 7 wins were by 21 or more points.

North Texas was 4-8 ATS on the season.

BET TEXAS STATE -13.5 (-115).

Over/Under

Army at North Texas odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Army at North Texas odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Army Black Knights (8-0) ride a 12-game win streak into their showdown Saturday with the North Texas Mean Green (5-3). Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET (ESPN2). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Army vs. North Texas odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Army, who ranks No. 18 in the US LBM Coaches Poll, has not trailed during their undefeated run and boasts a top-five overall defense in the top division of college football.

However, quarterback Bryson Daily (undisclosed injury/illness) was listed as questionable after missing the Knights’ 20-3 steamrolling over Air Force last weekend. However, he will return Saturday.

North Texas won’t roll over, though, and presents a tough Conference USA hurdle before Army’s potentially marquee clash with Notre Dame. Quarterback Chandler Morris leads the FBS in passing yards per game (359.1) while tying for second with 29 passing touchdowns.

Army at North Texas picks and predictions

Prediction

Army 36, North Texas 31

Moneyline

Army’s ML has risen to -225 with the news that Daily will be in there. Due to such, their side is unplayable at this number. We liked Army before the news of their quarterback’s return, but there is far too much juice to take a stand on.

PASS.

Against the spread

The spread has dipped to 3 but jumped up to 6 with Daily’s return.

Army has aced spreads this year at 6-1-1. North Texas squares out at 4-4.

Unfortunately, the spread movement negated any value that could be extracted for a close North Texas effort.

I would ignore the spread at 6 points both ways. I might consider it if North Texas gets more than a touchdown.

PASS.

Over/Under

The strongest wager of the main categories will be the total.

North Texas’ offensive power ranks them second in the FCS with a 7-1-0 record on the Over/Under. Army remains no slouch at 5-3.

The triple option should carry Army on its own end regardless of who’s under center. Buck the market trend and bank on the points with the better side of the O/U vig.

BET OVER 63.5 (-105).

Tulane at North Texas picks and predictions

Prediction

Tulane 48, North Texas 37

Moneyline

PASS.

There is no value on Tulane (-300) to win Saturday.

Against the spread

BET TULANE -7.5 (-110).

Even with the home crowd on its side, North Texas does not have an adequate defense to stop the Green Wave. It has allowed 37 or more points in 3 of its last 5, including back-to-back games, and faces a Tulane program that has scored 41 or more points in 3 of its last 4.

Over/Under

BET OVER 70.5 (-105).

Tulane has scored 41 or more points in 3 of its last 4 games, including 71 the last time it played on the road. North Texas has scored 41 or more points in each of its last 4 games while allowing 37 or more points in 2 straight. It has hit the Over in 6 of its 7 games. The Memphis Tigers (5-1, 1-1 AAC) welcome the North Texas Mean Green (5-1, 2-0) to Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPNU). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the North Texas vs. Memphis odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Tigers beat the USF Bulls 21-3 Saturday in Week 7 action, closing as a 10-point road favorite. They have won 2 straight and are 4-2 against the spread (ATS) on the season. Memphis’ lone loss on the season was a 56-44 road defeat to the Navy Midshipmen, who closed as a 9-point underdog. The Tigers have scored at least 20 in every game this season.

The Mean Green beat FAU 41-37 Saturday, closing as a 5-point road favorite. North Texas has rallied off 3 straight wins and is 3-3 ATS on the season. Its lone loss was to Big 12 side Texas Tech, losing 66-21 on the road on Sept. 14. The Mean Green have closed as an underdog in 2 games and are 1-1 straight up and 1-1 ATS in those. They have scored at least 40 in 3 straight games as well.

North Texas at Memphis picks and predictions

Prediction

Memphis 37, North Texas 24

Moneyline

PASS.

There’s no value here. The Tigers should come out on top, especially with how the Mean Green have played in competitive road games. Memphis is far too expensive to take here, though.

Against the spread

BET MEMPHIS -11.5 (-110).

The Tigers are 3-1 ATS this season as a double-figure favorite, and they are 2-1 ATS at home. They have scored 38 or more in 3 games this season, but it has been their defense that has impressed, allowing 10 points total in the last 2 games and holding opponents to 17 or fewer in 5 of 6 games.

The Mean Green have played 3 road games and have allowed 37, 66 and 38. They are just 1-2 ATS in those games. North Texas has consistently given up too many points in road games, and that should spur issues against a solid defense like Memphis.

Considering those trends, take MEMPHIS -11.5 (-110).

Over/Under

BET UNDER 68.5 (-115).

This is a tale of 2 stories. Memphis is 1-5 O/U while North Texas is 5-1 O/U. At home, Memphis has allowed 0, 17 and 7. It has a defense that has consistently produced, holding even Power 5-side FSU to 12.

North Texas scored just 21 in its last Power 5 battle this season. The Mean Green have allowed 20 or fewer in 2 of their last 3 and in 3 of their last 5. With that in mind and given how lofty of a total this is, back UNDER 68.5 (-115).

East Carolina at North Texas odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s East Carolina at North Texas odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The North Texas Mean Green (15-12, 8-7 AAC) welcome the East Carolina Pirates (14-14, 7-8) to The Super Pit Sunday. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the East Carolina vs. North Texas odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

North Texas beat East Carolina on the road 60-59 on Jan. 17, covering as a 3-point road underdog.

The Pirates are coming off an 82-58 loss to the Memphis Tigers Thursday, failing to cover as a 4.5-point underdog. They have lost 2 straight after a 3-game winning streak. East Carolina is 12-14-1 against the spread (ATS) and just 3-5 ATS in its last 8 games.

North Texas beat the Tulane Green Wave 80-76 on Wednesday, covering as a 2-point road favorite while having 5 players score in double figures. It is 3-6 over its last 9, yet 5-4 ATS in that span. The Mean Green are 15-9 ATS on the season.

East Carolina at North Texas picks and predictions

Prediction

North Texas 63, East Carolina 58

Moneyline

PASS.

There’s no reason to take a -410 favorite here, and East Carolina has lost its last 2 by 18 points or more, making its lofty moneyline value not an ideal wager either.

Against the spread

BET EAST CAROLINA +8.5 (-110).

The Mean Green haven’t been mean at home. They lost to UTSA in their last home game by 2 points, closing as a 14-point favorite. They have lost 3 of their last 4 at home and have failed to cover in each loss. North Texas’ top 4 scoring options all shoot under 43% from the field, so the efficiency offensively isn’t there either.

East Carolina isn’t much better, but it has covered 3 of its last 5 and beat UTSA on the road by 11 earlier this season. It is 2-2 ATS in its last 4 on the road. Considering those trends, back EAST CAROLINA +8.5 (-110).

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 123.5 (-105).

Neither team is overly efficient on the offensive end. The Pirates have gone Under in 4 straight games, scoring Under 60 points in 2 straight. They have gone Under in 10 of their last 11 and are 8-19 O/U on the season.

North Texas is 12-12 O/U and has scored 62 or fewer in 2 of its last 3. It doesn’t have many efficiency scorers either. With that in mind, back UNDER 123.5 (-105).

North Texas at Tulane odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s North Texas at Tulane odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The North Texas Mean Green (3-3, 1-1 AAC) and Tulane Green Wave (5-1, 2-0) meet Saturday at Yulman Stadium in New Orleans. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET (ESPN2). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the North Texas vs. Tulane odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Mean Green rolled up a 45-14 victory against Temple in Denton last weekend, easily covering a 7.5-point spread as the Under (65.5) cashed. UNT has covered in consecutive games for the 1st time this season, while also cashing the Under in back-to-back games. North Texas has scored 39 or more points in 4 of the past 5 games.

The Green Wave returns to the Top 25 rankings after their 31-21 win at Memphis last Friday, cashing as 4-point favorites. The Under (54.5) narrowly cashed in that game, and the total has gone low in 5 straight outings for Tulane despite the fact Tulane has scored 31 or more points in each of the past 3 games.

Tulane is No. 24 in the US LBM Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

North Texas at Tulane picks and predictions

Prediction

Tulane 40, North Texas 29

Moneyline

Tulane (-1400) will cost you 14 times your potential return, or just $7.14 of profit for every $100 risked. That’s a ridiculous amount of risk for not nearly enough reward, even when tucking this into a multi-team parlay.

AVOID.

Against the spread

NORTH TEXAS +20.5 (-115) catching nearly 3 TDs is quite a bit of points.

The Mean Green have cashed 3 of the past 4 games against the spread, and this is an offense which can handle itself with aplomb. If UNT is to get involved in a shootout, it has the offensive weapons to be successful.

The Green Wave also have plenty of weapons like QB Michael Pratt, who has completed 70.7% of his passes for 927 yards, 9 TD and 1 INT, while running for 121 yards and 2 TD, while WR Lawrence Keys III and RB Makhi Hughes are also offensive studs. This is going to be a fun game.

Over/Under

OVER 63.5 (-105) is a really big number, but this is going to be a contest resembling a video game, with plenty of splash plays and scores.

While Tulane has cashed the Under in 5 in a row, it will have a difficult time holding down a prolific UNT offense. Unfortunately for the Mean Green, defense isn’t exactly a hallmark, and Tulane should have its way at times. The scoreboard operator at Yulman Stadium better limber up, because he/she is going to be busy.

NIT: North Texas vs. UAB odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s North Texas Mean vs. UAB Blazers NIT odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The North Texas Mean Green (30-7, 17-5 C-USA) and UAB Blazers (29-9, 16-7) meet Thursday in the NIT Championship. Tip from Orleans Arena in Las Vegas is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET (ESPN2/ESPN+). Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the North Texas vs. UAB odds as we make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

First, Charlotte won the CBI Tournament. Then, FAU won 4 straight games in the NCAA Tournament to make the Final 4 this weekend in Houston. Now, North Texas and UAB meet in the NIT title game. It’s been a heck of a postseason for Conference USA, and it’s a guarantee someone from the league will win the NIT.

This is actually the 4th time these teams have met this season. North Texas won 63-52 in Birmingham as a 3-point underdog as the Under cashed on Jan. 21. The Mean Green won 82-79 in overtime in Denton as a 2.5-point favorite as the Over connected.

The teams also met in the Conference USA semifinals, and the third time was the charm for UAB. The Blazers won 76-69 as a 2-point favorite as the Over connected.

Since getting drummed by the aforementioned FAU in the C-USA championship game, UAB has rattled off 4 straight wins, while covering 3 of those outings. The last time out, an 88-86 OT win over Utah Valley, was the non-cover as the Over (151.5) cashed.

Since UNT’s loss to UAB in the C-USA semifinals, it has also ripped off 4 straight wins, while covering the last 3 outings. Defense has been tremendous for the Mean Green, allowing just 55.3 PPG in the past 4 games.

North Texas vs. UAB picks and predictions

Prediction

UAB 66, North Texas 63

Moneyline

UAB (-135) is the play on the moneyline if you don’t want to fiddle around with the points. The books are expected a close game in this rare 4th meeting in the same season.

Against the spread

UAB -2.5 (-102) needs to win by just a 3-point shot to cover, but that could actually be more difficult than normal.

North Texas +2.5 (-118) is a tremendous defense, and this game should be super close. The Mean Green has covered 3 of the last 4 meetings in this series, although UAB covered the most recent meeting, which was also at a neutral site.

Over/Under

The OVER 128.5 (-110) is the lean in this NIT title game.

The Over has cashed in 9 of the last 11 neutral floor battles for UAB, while going 30-14-1 in the past 45 games following a straight-up win.

The Over is 4-1 in the last 5 games following a straight-up win for UNT, while going 7-3-1 in the last 11 games after a cover.

Analyzing Tuesday’s North Texas vs. Wisconsin odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 2 seed North Texas Mean Green (29-7) battle the No. 2 seed Wisconsin Badgers (20-14) in the NIT Semifinals on Tuesday. Tip from Orleans Arena in Las Vegas is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN). Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the North Texas vs. Wisconsin odds as we make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

North Texas took down Oklahoma State 65-59 in overtime as a 4-point underdog in the quarterfinals of the NIT. G Tylor Perry led the way with 23 points while F Moulaye Sissoko grabbed 15 rebounds including 8 on the offensive end. North Texas vs. Wisconsin picks and predictions

Prediction

Wisconsin 63, North Texas 58

Moneyline

WISCONSIN (+100) is worth a split bet on the moneyline and against the spread. The underdog is showing good value at even money, but there is merit in taking the single point of insurance as well considering how tight the quarterfinals were for both teams.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread

LEAN WISCONSIN +1.5 (-110).

The Badgers have found success this season by moving the ball around and finding the open guy which has led them to rank 30th in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.359) while North Texas ranks just 235th in that metric (0.948).

Where the true discrepancy lies is Wisconsin’s ability to create extra scoring chances. The Badgers have averaged 3.1 extra scoring chances per game (46th) this season and 2.7 extra chances per game during their 3 tournament games. The Mean Green average is just 0.8 per game (135th) with that number dropping severely in tournament play to -6.7.

With ball movement and second-chance opportunities, Wisconsin should be looking at an NIT Championship berth after Tuesday night but the extra point of insurance doesn’t hurt.

Over/Under

BET OVER 114.5 (-110).

Only 3 of the Mean Green’s last 10 games would have hit the Under with this line, and none of the Badgers’ last 10 games would have hit the Under with this line.

The Over is 4-1 in the Mean Green’s last 5 games, 4-1 in their last 5 Tuesday games 4-0 in their last 4 games following an outright victory.
