East Carolina at North Texas odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s East Carolina at North Texas odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The North Texas Mean Green (15-12, 8-7 AAC) welcome the East Carolina Pirates (14-14, 7-8) to The Super Pit Sunday. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the East Carolina vs. North Texas odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

North Texas beat East Carolina on the road 60-59 on Jan. 17, covering as a 3-point road underdog.

The Pirates are coming off an 82-58 loss to the Memphis Tigers Thursday, failing to cover as a 4.5-point underdog. They have lost 2 straight after a 3-game winning streak. East Carolina is 12-14-1 against the spread (ATS) and just 3-5 ATS in its last 8 games.

North Texas beat the Tulane Green Wave 80-76 on Wednesday, covering as a 2-point road favorite while having 5 players score in double figures. It is 3-6 over its last 9, yet 5-4 ATS in that span. The Mean Green are 15-9 ATS on the season.

East Carolina at North Texas picks and predictions

Prediction

North Texas 63, East Carolina 58

Moneyline

PASS.

There’s no reason to take a -410 favorite here, and East Carolina has lost its last 2 by 18 points or more, making its lofty moneyline value not an ideal wager either.

Against the spread

BET EAST CAROLINA +8.5 (-110).

The Mean Green haven’t been mean at home. They lost to UTSA in their last home game by 2 points, closing as a 14-point favorite. They have lost 3 of their last 4 at home and have failed to cover in each loss. North Texas’ top 4 scoring options all shoot under 43% from the field, so the efficiency offensively isn’t there either.

East Carolina isn’t much better, but it has covered 3 of its last 5 and beat UTSA on the road by 11 earlier this season. It is 2-2 ATS in its last 4 on the road. Considering those trends, back EAST CAROLINA +8.5 (-110).

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 123.5 (-105).

Neither team is overly efficient on the offensive end. The Pirates have gone Under in 4 straight games, scoring Under 60 points in 2 straight. They have gone Under in 10 of their last 11 and are 8-19 O/U on the season.

North Texas is 12-12 O/U and has scored 62 or fewer in 2 of its last 3. It doesn’t have many efficiency scorers either. With that in mind, back UNDER 123.5 (-105).

North Texas at Tulane odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s North Texas at Tulane odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The North Texas Mean Green (3-3, 1-1 AAC) and Tulane Green Wave (5-1, 2-0) meet Saturday at Yulman Stadium in New Orleans. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET (ESPN2). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the North Texas vs. Tulane odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Mean Green rolled up a 45-14 victory against Temple in Denton last weekend, easily covering a 7.5-point spread as the Under (65.5) cashed. UNT has covered in consecutive games for the 1st time this season, while also cashing the Under in back-to-back games. North Texas has scored 39 or more points in 4 of the past 5 games.

The Green Wave returns to the Top 25 rankings after their 31-21 win at Memphis last Friday, cashing as 4-point favorites. The Under (54.5) narrowly cashed in that game, and the total has gone low in 5 straight outings for Tulane despite the fact Tulane has scored 31 or more points in each of the past 3 games.

Tulane is No. 24 in the US LBM Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

  • Against the spread (ATS): North Texas +20.5 (-115) | Tulane -20.5 (-105)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 63.5 (O: -105 | U: -115)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

North Texas at Tulane picks and predictions

Prediction

Tulane 40, North Texas 29

Moneyline

Tulane (-1400) will cost you 14 times your potential return, or just $7.14 of profit for every $100 risked. That’s a ridiculous amount of risk for not nearly enough reward, even when tucking this into a multi-team parlay.

AVOID.

Against the spread

NORTH TEXAS +20.5 (-115) catching nearly 3 TDs is quite a bit of points.

The Mean Green have cashed 3 of the past 4 games against the spread, and this is an offense which can handle itself with aplomb. If UNT is to get involved in a shootout, it has the offensive weapons to be successful.

The Green Wave also have plenty of weapons like QB Michael Pratt, who has completed 70.7% of his passes for 927 yards, 9 TD and 1 INT, while running for 121 yards and 2 TD, while WR Lawrence Keys III and RB Makhi Hughes are also offensive studs. This is going to be a fun game.

Over/Under

OVER 63.5 (-105) is a really big number, but this is going to be a contest resembling a video game, with plenty of splash plays and scores.

While Tulane has cashed the Under in 5 in a row, it will have a difficult time holding down a prolific UNT offense. Unfortunately for the Mean Green, defense isn’t exactly a hallmark, and Tulane should have its way at times. The scoreboard operator at Yulman Stadium better limber up, because he/she is going to be busy.

NIT: North Texas vs. UAB odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s North Texas Mean vs. UAB Blazers NIT odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The North Texas Mean Green (30-7, 17-5 C-USA) and UAB Blazers (29-9, 16-7) meet Thursday in the NIT Championship. Tip from Orleans Arena in Las Vegas is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET (ESPN2/ESPN+). Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the North Texas vs. UAB odds as we make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

First, Charlotte won the CBI Tournament. Then, FAU won 4 straight games in the NCAA Tournament to make the Final 4 this weekend in Houston. Now, North Texas and UAB meet in the NIT title game. It’s been a heck of a postseason for Conference USA, and it’s a guarantee someone from the league will win the NIT.

This is actually the 4th time these teams have met this season. North Texas won 63-52 in Birmingham as a 3-point underdog as the Under cashed on Jan. 21. The Mean Green won 82-79 in overtime in Denton as a 2.5-point favorite as the Over connected.

The teams also met in the Conference USA semifinals, and the third time was the charm for UAB. The Blazers won 76-69 as a 2-point favorite as the Over connected.

Since getting drummed by the aforementioned FAU in the C-USA championship game, UAB has rattled off 4 straight wins, while covering 3 of those outings. The last time out, an 88-86 OT win over Utah Valley, was the non-cover as the Over (151.5) cashed.

Since UNT’s loss to UAB in the C-USA semifinals, it has also ripped off 4 straight wins, while covering the last 3 outings. Defense has been tremendous for the Mean Green, allowing just 55.3 PPG in the past 4 games.

North Texas vs. UAB picks and predictions

Prediction

UAB 66, North Texas 63

Moneyline

UAB (-135) is the play on the moneyline if you don’t want to fiddle around with the points. The books are expected a close game in this rare 4th meeting in the same season.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread

UAB -2.5 (-102) needs to win by just a 3-point shot to cover, but that could actually be more difficult than normal.

North Texas +2.5 (-118) is a tremendous defense, and this game should be super close. The Mean Green has covered 3 of the last 4 meetings in this series, although UAB covered the most recent meeting, which was also at a neutral site.

Over/Under

The OVER 128.5 (-110) is the lean in this NIT title game.

The Over has cashed in 9 of the last 11 neutral floor battles for UAB, while going 30-14-1 in the past 45 games following a straight-up win.

The Over is 4-1 in the last 5 games following a straight-up win for UNT, while going 7-3-1 in the last 11 games after a cover.

NIT: North Texas vs. Wisconsin odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s North Texas vs. Wisconsin odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 2 seed North Texas Mean Green (29-7) battle the No. 2 seed Wisconsin Badgers (20-14) in the NIT Semifinals on Tuesday. Tip from Orleans Arena in Las Vegas is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN). Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the North Texas vs. Wisconsin odds as we make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

North Texas took down Oklahoma State 65-59 in overtime as a 4-point underdog in the quarterfinals of the NIT. G Tylor Perry led the way with 23 points while F Moulaye Sissoko grabbed 15 rebounds including 8 on the offensive end. The Mean Green are 2-1 against the spread (ATS) in their 3 tournament games thus far and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 outings to improve to 20-14 ATS this season.

Wisconsin knocked off Oregon 61-58 as a 1-point underdog in the quarterfinals. G Max Klesmit led the way with 18 points and the Badgers shot 92.3% from the free throw line (12 of 13). They are 2-0-1 ATS in the tournament and 5-3-2 ATS in their last 10 games, improving to 15-17-2 ATS on the season.

North Texas vs. Wisconsin picks and predictions

Prediction

Wisconsin 63, North Texas 58

Moneyline

WISCONSIN (+100) is worth a split bet on the moneyline and against the spread. The underdog is showing good value at even money, but there is merit in taking the single point of insurance as well considering how tight the quarterfinals were for both teams.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread

LEAN WISCONSIN +1.5 (-110).

The Badgers have found success this season by moving the ball around and finding the open guy which has led them to rank 30th in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.359) while North Texas ranks just 235th in that metric (0.948).

Where the true discrepancy lies is Wisconsin’s ability to create extra scoring chances. The Badgers have averaged 3.1 extra scoring chances per game (46th) this season and 2.7 extra chances per game during their 3 tournament games. The Mean Green average is just 0.8 per game (135th) with that number dropping severely in tournament play to -6.7.

With ball movement and second-chance opportunities, Wisconsin should be looking at an NIT Championship berth after Tuesday night but the extra point of insurance doesn’t hurt.

Over/Under

BET OVER 114.5 (-110).

Only 3 of the Mean Green’s last 10 games would have hit the Under with this line, and none of the Badgers’ last 10 games would have hit the Under with this line.

The Over is 4-1 in the Mean Green’s last 5 games, 4-1 in their last 5 Tuesday games 4-0 in their last 4 games following an outright victory.

NIT: North Texas at Oklahoma State odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s North Texas at Oklahoma State NIT quarterfinal odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The 2nd-seeded North Texas Mean Green (28-7) and 1st-seeded Oklahoma State Cowboys (20-15) meet Tuesday in a NIT quarterfinal at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater, Okla. Tip is scheduled for approximately 7 p.m. ET (ESPN/ESPN+). Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the North Texas at Oklahoma State odds as we make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

The Mean Green have picked up back-to-back wins in the NIT over Alcorn State and Sam Houston State, averaging 72.0 PPG, while allowing just 54.0 PPG. UNT has split against the spread (ATS), as well as on the Over-Under in 2 NIT games.

The Cowboys had to go on the road in the first NIT game at Youngstown State, winning 69-64 while pushing at most shops. Despite a No. 1 seed, it had to hit the road because Gallagher-Iba Arena was being used for wrestling championships. OSU topped Eastern Washington 71-60, just missing a cover as an 11.5-point favorite.

The Under is 4-0 in 4 postseason games and Oklahoma State has allowed 58.5 PPG in those 4 outings, allowing 64 or fewer points in each game.

North Texas at Oklahoma State picks and predictions

Prediction

Oklahoma State 66, North Texas 57

Moneyline

Oklahoma State (-200) will cost you 2 times your potential return, and that’s just a tad bit too expensive, even for a home team playing very well.

AVOID.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread

OKLAHOMA STATE -4.5 (-110) is a much better value. Gallagher-Iba Arena should be rocking on Tuesday night, and the Cowboys have been playing with a chip on their shoulder, trying to show that the NCAA Tournament committee made a mistake leaving them as the last team out.

While Oklahoma State is 1-5 ATS in its last 6 home games, that was against top-tier Big 12 talent in an ultra-competitive league. It’s 5-0 SU and ATS in the last 5 home games against non-conference teams.

Over/Under

The UNDER 124.5 (-115) is worth a look in this NIT quarterfinals battle, as each of these teams were tremendous defensively during the regular season.

North Texas closed out the regular season on a 3-0 Under run, allowing just 33 points in the regular-season final against Western Kentucky. UNT was No. 1 in the nation in scoring defense (55.6 PPG). OSU ranked 54th in the country, yielding 65.9 PPG, while holding teams to just 39.6% in field-goal percentage, good for 12th.

The Under is also 4-0 in the last 4 games for Oklahoma State, while going 3-0-1 in the last 4 home games. The Under is 7-3 in the last 10 at home against teams with a winning road record, too.

Frisco Bowl: Boise State vs. North Texas odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Boise State vs. North Texas odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Boise State Broncos (9-4) take on the North Texas Mean Green (7-6) Saturday at 9:15 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Boise State vs. North Texas odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Boise State was undefeated in Mountain West conference play (8-0) but lost to Fresno State in the Championship game 28-16. This loss against Fresno State culminated a roller coaster season for the Broncos who fired an offensive coordinator and lost a QB to the transfer portal during the season.

However, Boise State still enters this game in better shape than the North Texas Mean Green who — despite making the C-USA title gamE — JAVE parted ways with coach Seth Littrel and will have an interim coach in place for this game before Washington State offensive coordinator Eric Morris takes over the reins of the team next season.

While their location just outside of Dallas can help them in future seasons when they change conferences, the Mean Green will have a tough time in this game as they attempt to keep pace with a better, more talented Boise State team.

Boise State vs. North Texas picks and predictions

Prediction

Boise State 35, North Texas 20

Moneyline

PASS.

Boise State (-390) is the better team and should easily win this game. The tag though is a bit too high to make a solid wager on. However, if you are making a parlay, this would be a marginally solid addition to add to a large play.

Against the spread

BET BOISE STATE -10.5 (-108).

Boise State has the talent advantage and an additional advantage with North Texas coach Seth Littrel being let go before this game.

North Texas may have the de facto home-field edge in this one, but it will not be enough as Boise State should dominate from start to finish. BOISE STATE -10.5 (-108) is my favorite play in this game.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 59.5 (-111).

Boise State can score but they only managed 16 points in its last game. They should score more in this one as North Texas is not Fresno State defensively. However, I still do not think it will be enough to get this game Over as North Texas will not produce enough.

Boise State and its defense will clamp down and suffocate the Mean Green here and I do not see them scoring enough to get this game Over the 59.5 total.

Conference USA Championship: North Texas at UTSA odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s North Texas at UTSA odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The North Texas Mean Green (7-5, 6-2 C-USA) meet the No. 24 UTSA Roadrunners (10-2, 8-0) Friday for the Conference USA Championship. Kickoff from Alamodome in San Antonio is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the North Texas vs. UTSA odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Rankings courtesy of AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

The Mean Green rebounded from a 41-21 loss at UAB on Nov. 12 to top Rice 21-17 Saturday. With the conference win in the regular-season finale, UNT clinched the 2nd spot in C-USA and a spot in the title game.

The Roadrunners topped the Mean Green 31-27 back on Oct. 22 at this very same venue, but UNT covered the 10-point number as the Under cashed.

UTSA picked up a wild 34-31 win against UTEP Saturday, but it failed to cover the 16.5-point number. UTSA has won 9 in a row dating back to a loss at Texas on Sept. 17, and that was its only loss in regulation for the season. The other setback was a 37-35 OT loss against Houston in the opener.

North Texas at UTSA picks and predictions

Prediction

UTSA 35, North Texas 31

Moneyline

UTSA (-330) will cost you over 3 times your potential return, and that’s very expensive, even on its home field.

North Texas gave the Roadrunners all they could handle in their late October meeting in San Antonio, and the offense has the depth and talent to hang around.

PASS.

Against the spread

NORTH TEXAS +9 (-110) is the lean in this conference title game.

While UNT is 0-4 ATS in the past 4 neutral-site games, it has covered 6 of the past 8 games overall and is 11-2 ATS in its last 13 inside Conference USA. The Mean Green has also covered 6 in a row against teams with a winning overall record.

UTSA is 12-5 ATS in the past 17 against teams with a winning record, and the home team is 8-1 ATS in the past 9 meetings. However, that lone non-cover was in late October. Look for the Mean Green to make this a one-score game again.

Over/Under

An UNDER 69.5 (-110) play is worth a roll of the dice, but it’s a half-unit play only.

The Under has cashed in 7 of the past 8 meetings between these sides, including the regular-season meeting. The Under is 4-0 in the past 4 meetings in San Antonio, too.

UTSA has cashed the Under in 5 of the past 7 games overall, and 5 of the past 7 inside C-USA, too.

Marshall at North Texas odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Marshall 31, North Texas 17

Money line

AVOID the juice-filled money line tags here. Look to leverage some value on Marshall against the spread.

Against the spread

The Mean Green are 0-8 ATS in their last eight games as home underdogs.

Look for the Thundering Herd to open up a two-score lead in the first half and play it out to a two-touchdown win with their strong pass defense. A turnover-neutral Marshall and one which is better in defensive analytics than in its surface numbers is a solid play here.

BACK MARSHALL -11.5 (-108).

Over/Under

The Under is 4-0 in Marshall’s last four conference games and 4-1 in North Texas’ last five games overall.

Respect the Marshall defense here. Figure UNT’s weak rush defense (210.4 yards per game allowed, 116th FBS) as playing into Marshall killing the clock with its run game in the fourth. The forecast for this game includes a 17-mile-an-hour wind.

TAKE THE UNDER 66.5 (-112).

The Villanova Wildcats (17-6) take on the North Texas Mean Green (18-9) in a South Region second-round game Sunday night. Villanova vs. North Texas: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Villanova 65, North Texas 57

Money line (ML)

The Wildcats’ chances to do well in the Big Dance took a big hit when senior G Collin Gillespie went down with a season-ending knee injury March 3. But after a week of preparation – and perhaps clearing some head space after recent struggles – Villanova was sharp in dispatching Winthrop.

Against the spread (ATS)

Villanova is 3-0-1 ATS over its last four games against teams playing .600 ball or better.

The Wildcats can leverage better intermediate defense, better handles on the ball, and what figures to be a nice advantage in producing from the foul line.

This also fits as a fade of a trendy underdog. Take a shot with VILLANOVA -5.5 (-110).

Over/Under (O/U)

Slow paces on both sides, and Villanova figures to chess-board the final five to seven minutes in a careful victory. Back the UNDER 127.5 (-110).
