Eight Spartans named to Senior Bowl watch list

Check out which Spartans were named to the Senior Bowl watch list:

The Senior Bowl is a big event every year, capping off the college football season while showcasing the senior’s talents one last time collegiately. This is also a great opportunity for the seniors that are invited to showcase themselves in front of NFL franchises ahead of the NFL Draft.

Ahead of the 2022 season, eight Spartans were featured on the Senior Bowl’s watch list as possible candidates to be invited to this year’s Senior Bowl.

Take a look at what Spartans made the list:

3 changes Michigan State football should make after 3 games

Even after a 3-0 start, there is still room for MSU to improve. Here are three changes the Spartans should make to continue their upward trajectory:

Michigan State is ahead of schedule in terms of a rebuild in the Mel Tucker era. The Spartans are off to a 3-0 start and have a signature win on the road against the Miami Hurricanes.

There have been a lot of bright spots so far, and Michigan State is showing much-needed improvement on both sides of the football.

Although a great start, no one or team is perfect, and there is room for the Spartans to improve and get better. If MSU continues to improve, the sky is the limit on what this season could ultimately end up being.

Let’s take a look at three changes I would like to see the Spartans make, in order to continue their upward trajectory:

Michigan State football just got back a big depth piece for the team next season. Head coach Mel Tucker confirmed in his weekly press conference today that redshirt senior, center Matt Allen will return for a sixth year.  Allen was injured much of the 2020 season and only played in two of the seven games.

With Allen’s injury last season, we saw the emergence of sophomore Nick Samac who was strong in the starting center role. But as noted in the tweet below, Tucker has said that Allen has become one of his favorite players so don’t be surprised if Matt Allen starts the first game of the 2021 season. It is also a possibility that Allen could change to a guard if Samac wins the starting center job.

Allen is the brother of well-known former Spartan center Brian Allen, who is currently on the Los Angeles Rams roster.
