Michigan State football just got back a big depth piece for the team next season. Head coach Mel Tucker confirmed in his weekly press conference today that redshirt senior, center Matt Allen will return for a sixth year. Allen was injured much of the 2020 season and only played in two of the seven games.
With Allen’s injury last season, we saw the emergence of sophomore Nick Samac who was strong in the starting center role. But as noted in the tweet below, Tucker has said that Allen has become one of his favorite players so don’t be surprised if Matt Allen starts the first game of the 2021 season. It is also a possibility that Allen could change to a guard if Samac wins the starting center job.
Allen is the brother of well-known former Spartan center Brian Allen, who is currently on the Los Angeles Rams roster.
Tucker said center Matt Allen will be coming back for a sixth year after an injury-shortened 2020. Tucker said Allen has become one of his favorite players.
