4-star LB Shemar James makes commitment

Georgia and Alabama were among the top contenders for 4-star linebacker recruit Shemar James, who has committed to the Florida Gators

The Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide were among the top contenders high school football recruit Shemar James. James is a four-star outside linebacker prospect, who plays football for Faith Academy in Mobile, Alabama.

Now, Shemar James has committed to Dan Mullen and the Florida Gators football program. James will be an excellent addition for Florida.

Shemar James is a member of the class of 2022. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound linebacker is ranked as the No. 15 linebacker in the country and the No. 146 overall recruit. James is the No. 7 rated player in the state of Alabama.

Florida is looking to recruit Alabama heavily. The Gators landed a commitment from the No. 3 prospect in the state, Jeremiah Williams, in the class of 2021.

Shemar James plays both wide receiver and outside linebacker. His team tries to get him the ball in space anyway they can and he sometimes lines up in the backfield. It is rare to see a wide receiver who plays defensive end/outside linebacker, but James has the size to do it successfully at the high school level.

Shemar James projects to be a pass rushing outside linebacker at the college level. He has excellent speed and could be a big-time difference maker in the SEC.

James additionally has the capability to be a great blocking wide receiver. Both Kirby Smart and Nick Saban love wide receivers who are willing to get in the mix and block.
