Jordan Love nearly hurt himself trying to launch an ill-advised pass on a hopeless trick play

Cue the Benny Hill music on Jordan Love’s pass!

Jordan Love is learning a lot in his full-time stint as the Green Bay Packers starting quarterback. During Sunday’s matchup against the New Orleans Saints, he should really take what happened on a fourth down to heart. And in his first home opener, no less.

With the Packers trying to force the issue in opposition territory, they took a chance on what should have been an easy fourth-and-short. Instead, third-string running back Emanuel Wilson botched the throwback to Love on a trick play. Love would struggle to get a handle of the ball and, for some reason, tried to launch a pass into pressure while sliding.

He is extremely lucky it didn’t turn into a turnover OR injury:

Look, one of the best hallmarks of playing well at quarterback is understanding when a play has a chance. Sometimes, it’s worth taking a risk — even preferred, depending on the game situation. Sometimes, you just gotta take a negative play and live to fight another day.

Hopefully, for the Packers’ sake, Love now understands that distinction after this bizarre sequence.

WATCH: Texans QB C.J. Stroud hits WR Tank Dell deep against the Jaguars

Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud connected with receiver Tank Dell for a deep ball in Week 3 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Sooner or later, the Houston Texans knew that C.J. Stroud to Tank Dell would be a deep connection.

The potential was realized with 8:47 to go in the first quarter of Week 3 Sunday afternoon at TIAA Bank Field against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Stroud hit Dell for a 46-yard pass down to the Jacksonville 2-yard line.

The deep connection allowed the Texans to take a commanding 7-0 lead following running back Dameon Pierce rushing for a touchdown two plays later.

Stroud and Dell focused on their cohesion given they were both rookies selected in the 2023 NFL draft. The franchise’s expectations ride upon Stroud as the No. 3 overall pick, and Dell, a former Houston Cougar, entered the league as a fan favorite.

WATCH: Texans RB Dameon Pierce scores 1-yard touchdown against the Jaguars

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce scored a 1-yard touchdown run to strike first blood against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 3.

The Houston Texans knew they could count on Dameon Pierce.

The former 2022 fourth-round pick bulled his way for a 1-yard touchdown Sunday afternoon in Week 3 against the Jacksonville Jaguars at TIAA Bank Field.

Pierce started off the seven-play, 62-yard scoring drive being the subject of the first four plays. After being setup with a 46-yard Tank Dell catch and a 1-yard rush from the 2-yard line from quarterback C.J. Stroud, Pierce was ready to deliver.

The scoring drive was setup thanks to a missed 48-yard field goal from Jaguars kicker Brandon McManus. The Texans have not lost in Jacksonville since 2017.

Patriots Week 3 inactives: Trent Brown IN, Jonathan Jones OUT vs. Jets

Who’s in and who’s out for the Patriots?

The New England Patriots will have their four primary starting offensive linemen in the lineup for the first time in the 2023 season.

Trent Brown, Mike Onwenu, Cole Strange and David Andrews will all be on the field for Sunday’s game against the New York Jets.

It has been a revolving door at right tackle for the Patriots. So it remains to be seen how that position will shake out when facing a tough Jets defense. New England could give extended work to Vederian Lowe, or they could roll veteran Calvin Anderson out for a third straight week.

Regardless, the offensive line will be in a much better position to protect quarterback Mac Jones and finally get the run game going. Here’s the full list of inactives for the Patriots and Jets:

Cornerback Jonathan Jones was ruled out for the game on Saturday. So the Patriots will be entering this game depleted in the defensive backfield.

It’ll be down to rookie first-round draft pick Christian Gonzalez, Myles Bryant and Shaun Wade to hold off a Jets receiving corps spearheaded by star wideout Garrett Wilson.

Texans vs. Jaguars inactives: 5 injured players make the list

Injuries made the Houston Texans inactives largely known ahead of their Week 3 tilt with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Houston Texans released their game day inactives ahead of their Week 3 encounter with the Jacksonville Jaguars Sunday at 12:00 p.m. Central Time at TIAA Bank Field.

The Texans ruled out linebacker Denzel Perryman (hand/wrist), safety Jalen Pitre (chest), and cornerback Tavierre Thomas (hand) on Friday. Left tackle Laremy Tunsil (knee) was ruled out on Saturday.

Cornerback Derek Stingley (hamstring), who was added to the injury report Thursday, was placed on injured reserve Saturday.

Houston also declared quarterback Case Keenum, running back Dare Ogunbowale, and defensive end Derek Rivers inactive for the Jaguars.

Jacksonville ruled out receiver Zay Jones (knee) and safety Antonio Johnson (hamstring) on Friday.

The Jaguars also declared receiver Parker Washington, running back Jamycal Hasty, and receiver Elijah Cooks inactive for Week 3.

Patriots-Jets game day poll: Who wins on Sunday?

Who wins on Sunday? Patriots or Jets?

[polldaddy poll=12796428]

The New England Patriots will be looking to earn their 15th consecutive win over the New York Jets in Sunday’s AFC East divisional clash between longtime rivals.

Offense has continued to be an issue for the Patriots, even with Bill O’Brien overtaking the play-calling. The offensive line has been banged up, and the team lacks explosiveness on the outside at receiver.

Can they scheme their way to a much-needed victory over an elite Jets defense?

The first order of business should be making Jets quarterback Zach Wilson’s nightmares come true for a fifth time. No team in the NFL has consistently made Wilson look worse than the Patriots. In his last four head-to-head matchups with Bill Belichick’s defense, the former No. 2 overall draft pick has thrown seven interceptions and been sacked 11 times.

We’ll see if that streak continues on the road at MetLife Stadium in Week 3.

Texans fantasy Week 3: Start ’em and sit ’em against the Jaguars

Take a look at who to start and who to sit from the Houston Texans for fantasy in Week 3 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The past week against the Indianapolis Colts wasn’t the outcome Houston Texans fans all wanted, but there was a bright ray of hope when it comes to the quarterback position. C.J. Stroud really showed a lot of potential and growth and was very impressive. The Texans appear to be in good hands for the future under center.

Another player stepping up big time is Nico Collins. Listen, if there was anyone that was skeptical on Collins it was this fantasy analyst. There seems to be a comfort level with Stroud and Collins on the field and a level a trust. Collins is easily becoming the WR1 for the Texans and a bonafide fantasy option for lineups each week.

This week the Texans are facing off against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Houston may be 0-3 after Week 3, which will be disappointing in Houston, but there is still some fantasy value to be had out of his matchup. The record is disappointing, but the Texans are building something special. With all of this being said, let’s look at which Texans to start and sit in fantasy football.

Follow along for live updates as the Houston Texans take on the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 3.

Laremy Tunsil won’t be available for the second straight week.

The three-time Pro Bowler is nursing a knee injury that landed him with the questionable designation on Friday’s injury report. Tunsil didn’t show favorable results during the Saturday walkthrough, and the Houston Texans left their starting left tackle behind.

The Texans declared their inactives, and there weren’t any real surprises as injuries already dictated five players that would sit for Week 3.

First quarter

15:00 — Houston gets the ball first. RB Mike Boone fields the opening kickoff from a yard inside the end zone and makes it only to the Houston 13-yard line.

14:13 — QB C.J. Stroud dumps off to RB Devin Singletary on a third-and-12 from the Houston 11 for seven yards. The Texans go three-and-out.

13:31 — P Ty Zentner punts 45 yards to the Jacksonville 37. The Jaguars signal for a fair catch, and CB Kadar Hollman is dinged for fair catch interference. The Jaguars start first-and-10 at the Houston 48-yard line.

11:40 — QB Trevor Lawrence misses RB Tim Jones on a third-and-9 from the Houston 30-yard line.

11:36 — K Brandon McManus misses wide right on a 48-yard field goal.

8:47 — Stroud connects with WR Tank Dell for a 46-yard strike down to the Jaguars 2-yard line. The ball was under thrown slightly and really a tale of Dell’s body control.

7:39 — RB Dameon Pierce scores a 1-yard touchdown. K Ka’imi Fairbairn’s extra point is good. 7-0, Texans

5:10 — Weirdly the Jaguars blow it. On a third-and-2 from their own 46-yard line, RB Travis Etienne falls down for a yard.

1:53 — Stroud misses TE Dalton Schultz on a third-and-5, but it would not have mattered given there was an illegal shift.

Second quarter

12:48 — WR Calvin Ridley was injured on an incomplete target. His return is questionable.

12:44 — Lawrence throws to TE Brenton Strange for four yards on third-and-8 from the Houston 37-yard line.

12:02 — DE Will Anderson blocks McManus’ 51-yard field goal attempt. The rookie couldn’t get on it, and LB Jake Hansen recovered underneath the scrum at the Jacksonville 41.

7:30 — The Texans take advantage as Stroud completes a seven-play, 41-yard drive with a 4-yard touchdown pass to TE Brevin Jordan. Extra point is good. 14-0, Texans

5:01 — An illegal use of hands to the face wipes out a fourth down conversion for the Jaguars. Lawrence hit Ridley for a 12-yard gain up to the Houston 33. Instead the Jaguars have to punt.

4:10 — Stroud can’t connect with WR Robert Woods on a third-and-9 from the Texans’ 16.

1:13 — S Eric Murray forces a fumble from WR Jamal Agnew that Cashman recovers and returns to the Texans’ 34-yard line.

0:35 — Houston goes three-and-out as Stroud can’t connect with Dell.

0:03 — Fairbairn’s 28-yard field goal is good. Texans, 17-0

Patriots vs Jets 2023 live stream: Time, TV schedule and how to watch online

How to watch the Patriots-Jets game

The New England Patriots will try to stop the sky from falling on Sunday when heading into MetLife Stadium for an AFC East divisional showdown against the New York Jets.

It has been back-to-back weeks of heartbreaks for the Patriots. They failed to knock off the Philadelphia Eagles on a potential game-winning drive in the fourth quarter, and they missed on an opportunity to take the Miami Dolphins into overtime late.

Meanwhile, the Jets are coming off an ugly 30-10 loss to the Dallas Cowboys after squeaking out an upset overtime victory over the Buffalo Bills in Week 1.

The Patriots have won their last 14 straight games against a Jets team that will have backup quarterback Zach Wilson under center without left tackle Duane Brown.

Here’s how to watch the game:
