Texans RB Devin Singletary could offer fantasy value during stretch run

The Houston Texans’ surging run game may provide value for RB Devin Singletary as fantasy football moves into late season.

The NFL season is halfway over for some teams, but for fantasy football enthusiasts, twilight is growing nigh on the 2023 campaign. Customarily the start for fantasy football playoffs is Week 15.

As is the case in the NFL, teams are constantly tinkering with what works. For the Houston Texans, it appears that Devin Singletary as lead running back produces results. The former Buffalo Bills rusher generated 30 carries for 150 yards and a touchdown in what was Houston’s best rushing output of the season.

According to Gordon McGuinness from Pro Football Focus, Singletary deserves consideration for fantasy rosters entering the final stretch.

Devin Singletary is only rostered in 51% of Yahoo leagues and is coming off a game where he put up 150 yards in relief of the injured Dameon Pierce. Even when Pierce returns, Singletary can still expect to see roughly 10 carries per game if they split time, and there is the potential that his big game against the Cincinnati Bengals will cause a Texans team that had struggled to get the running game going to turn to him more down the stretch.

Prior to Week 8 when Pierce injured his ankle, there were only two games Singletary went over 10 touches, let alone carries.

The Texans may be more likely to go with Singletary earlier in games if Pierce is still struggling to find daylight. Pierce has to know his job is at stake given Singletary’s performance against the Bengals, which could motivate the former 2022 fourth-rounder to keep Singletary on the bench.

Why Texans WR Noah Brown should be considered as a Week 10 waiver wire pickup

Houston Texans receiver Noah Brown would make sense as a waiver wire pickup in fantasy football.

The Houston Texans have their quarterback in place with C.J. Stroud. The No. 2 overall pick showed he can bless fantasy football teams with his 470-yard, five-touchdown performance last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Stroud has quickly slid into the safe category for starters.

The Texans’ receiving corps is also becoming more of a sure option in fantasy.

According to Natalie Miller from the Touchdown Wire, Houston receiver Noah Brown qualifies as her third-best waiver wire option in Week 10.

Noah Brown has seen a major uptick in usage over the last two weeks, and during quarterback C.J. Stroud’s incredible game Brown became a huge piece of the offensive puzzle. With 153 yards and a touchdown on six catches, it’s likely that Brown will continue to be in the mix of an offense that is looking to air it our with their exciting new rookie. Brown is a boom or bust addition, but the upside is there.

Brown get even more attention than in Week 9 as the Texans will be without receiver Nico Collins against the Cincinnati Bengals. A greater emphasis will be on wideouts Tank Dell, Robert Woods, and Brown to attack Cincinnati’s secondary.

In the two games prior to Brown’s career day, the former Dallas Cowboys 2017 seventh-round pick posted yards per receptions of 19.0 and 18.5, indicating his ability to produce chunk plays.

Texans WR Nico Collins remains start ’em in CBS Sports fantasy

Houston Texans receiver Nico Collins remains a start ’em in CBS Sports’ fantasy advice after a rough outing in Week 8.

Nico Collins’ two 100-yard receiving games in Week 2 and Week 4 suggested the Houston Texans receive was coming into his own for a franchise with stalwarts such as Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins.

In addition to being able to elevate whatever quarterback talent was around them, those two receivers were also locks in fantasy football. Collins’ back-and-forth between big games and so-so outings make fantasy managers skittish as to how reliable the receiver is.

According to Jamey Eisenberg from CBS Sports, although Collins had four catches for 30 yards in the 15-13 loss to the Carolina Panthers in Week 8, the former 2021 third-rounder remains a viable option in fantasy.

Collins had a disappointing game in Week 8 at Carolina with four catches for 30 yards on six targets, and he hasn’t scored a touchdown since Week 4. But I’m expecting a rebound performance this week against Tampa Bay, and the Buccaneers have struggled with opposing receivers of late. Since Week 6, a span of three games, six receivers have scored at least 11.4 PPR points against Tampa Bay, including three Bills (Stefon Diggs, Gabe Davis and Khalik Shakir) in Week 8. Continue to start Collins as a No. 2 Fantasy receiver in all leagues.

Collins has 33 catches for 577 yards and three touchdowns on the season — yards and touchdowns being new single-season career highs. Collins’ single-season high for catches is 37 set last year.

CBS Sports fantasy expects Texans WR Nico Collins to have big game against the Panthers

Houston Texans receiver Nico Collins is expected to have a productive game fantasy wise against the Carolina Panthers in Week 8.

Time discloses the truth, and through six games of the 2023 season, there are some realities forming about the Houston Texans.

One area that seems to be true is the development of Nico Collins as a number one receiver. The former 2021 third-rounder leads the Texans with 29 catches for 547 yards and three touchdowns — only tight Dalton Schultz has as many scoring receptions. Receiver Robert Woods has one more target than does Collins — 43 to 42 — but nevertheless the 24-year-old is far more productive.

According to Jamey Eisenberg from CBS Sports, given Collins’ production and the shakiness of the Carolina Panthers’ secondary, the Texans’ wideout is a great candidate to start in fantasy football lineups for Week 8.

The Panthers have struggled with No. 1 receivers for most of this season, and I expect that to continue in Week 8 against Collins. Starting in Week 2, Chris Olave (14.6 PPR points), DK Metcalf (17.2 PPR points), Justin Jefferson (26.5 PPR points), Josh Reynolds (17.6 PPR points with Amon-Ra St. Brown out) and Tyreek Hill (28.3 PPR points) have all crushed Carolina’s secondary. Collins should follow suit, and he has at least 12.0 PPR points in four of six games this season. I like him as a top-15 Fantasy receiver in all leagues for Week 8.

According to Pro Football Reference, Collins has accumulated 72.7 points through six games, averaging to a little over 12.1 per game. Two of Collins’ last three games have gone over the 20-point threshold.

Kickoff against Carolina is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. Central Time from Bank of America Stadium.

Texans fantasy Week 5: Start ’em and sit ’em against the Falcons

Take a look at the Houston Texans’ fantasy football offerings for Week 5 against the Atlanta Falcons.

Anyone else onboard with the Houston Texans?

They have proven they can put up points and stop the opposing team’s offenses. C.J. Stroud is the real deal and he is achieving all this success without a majority of his starting offensive line.

Let’s not forget about the defense either. This defense attacks and is consistently in relentless pursuit of the football. SWARM has been a saying ever since coach Demeco Ryans came back to Houston, and there is no better way to describe the defense.

The Texans are fun to watch finally. Not only are they fun on the field, but the Texans have relevance in fantasy football again. With Stroud, Nico Collins, and Tank Dell, to name a few, fans have a team they can cheer for.

Let’s look at some players to cheer for in fantasy against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 5.

Texans fantasy Week 4: Start ’em and sit ’em against the Steelers

Here is a look at the fantasy football value to be had with the Houston Texans as they face the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 4.

Finally, the Houston Texans get the big W — and against the Jacksonville Jaguars unexpectedly. Many thought the Texans would lose because of all the injuries that have been piling up for the Texans. Houston pulled it out convincingly, 37-17. Rookie C.J. Stroud was the star of the game, completing 20 passes on 30 attempts for 280 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. The young quarterback has grown every game and has shown to be a bonafide fantasy quarterback that one must start every week. Houston hosts the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 4, and it is a winnable game for the Texans. If offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik leans on Stroud, the Texans will likely be 2-2. Here is this week’s lineup.

Why Texans WR Tank Dell should be a Week 4 waiver pickup in fantasy

Houston Texans rookie wideout Tank Dell presents as a fascinating waiver wire target in fantasy football for Week 4.

The waiver wire is where fantasy football players find the inside edge throughout the season.

With three weeks in the books, there is starting to develop a sense of who is ready to contribute immediately and who is still figuring it out among the rookie class.

According to Natalie Miller from the Touchdown Wire, Houston Texans receiver Tank Dell is among the number of rookies who is becoming dependable in fantasy lineups, and is one of her recommendations as a Week 4 waiver pickup.

It’s a rookie bonanza early on in the waiver period as the rookie connection between quarterback C.J. Stroud and wide receiver Tank Dell has been off the charts the last two weeks. Dell exploded for 145 yards and a touchdown in week three against the Jaguars, which expands upon his 72 yard, one touchdown performance from the previous week. Dell has cemented himself as a starter on the Houston depth chart and can be trusted right away as a high upside WR3.

So long as defenses give Dell the opportunities deep, the former Houston Cougar will take advantage.

Dell has generated 15 catches for 251 yards and two touchdowns through three games. Pro Football Reference calculates Dell’s fantasy points for the season at 37.1.

Texans fantasy Week 3: Start ’em and sit ’em against the Jaguars

Take a look at who to start and who to sit from the Houston Texans for fantasy in Week 3 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The past week against the Indianapolis Colts wasn’t the outcome Houston Texans fans all wanted, but there was a bright ray of hope when it comes to the quarterback position. C.J. Stroud really showed a lot of potential and growth and was very impressive. The Texans appear to be in good hands for the future under center.

Another player stepping up big time is Nico Collins. Listen, if there was anyone that was skeptical on Collins it was this fantasy analyst. There seems to be a comfort level with Stroud and Collins on the field and a level a trust. Collins is easily becoming the WR1 for the Texans and a bonafide fantasy option for lineups each week.

This week the Texans are facing off against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Houston may be 0-3 after Week 3, which will be disappointing in Houston, but there is still some fantasy value to be had out of his matchup. The record is disappointing, but the Texans are building something special. With all of this being said, let’s look at which Texans to start and sit in fantasy football.

Texans fantasy Week 2: Start ’em and sit ’em against the Colts

Here are some Houston Texans to consider for your fantasy lineups as they face the Indianapolis Colts in Week 2.

The Houston Texans didn’t have great offerings in fantasy football in Week 1. However, it wasn’t terrible or disheartening. Quarterback CJ Stroud looked the part, and Houston’s defense looked like they would bend but not break through four quarters. Yes, they lost the game, but it wasn’t a complete blowout.

There were a few disappointments in fantasy football for the Texans however, like running back Dameon Pierce and wide receiver Tank Dell. There were some strong fantasy performances. Wideout Nico Collins and Robert Woods stood out.

Week 2 should be interesting, especially since Stroud is on the injury report. This fantasy football analyst wants to see Stroud respond to the Week 1 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. If Stroud does not play, backup quarterback Davis Mills will get an opportunity to show the Texans what he can do, and Mills might entice another NFL franchise to pick up the phone and call Houston about a potential trade for the former starter. It’s the NRG Stadium opener, and already there’s the most anticipated inactives list of the season.

Let’s look into Week 2 versus the Indianapolis Colts and see who should go into your lineups and who should stay on the bench.

Texans fantasy Week 1: Start ’em and sit ’em against the Ravens

Have a Houston Texans player for fantasy? Take a look at who you need to start and sit ahead of Week 1 against the Baltimore Ravens.

It’s finally here. The NFL season is underway, and fantasy football lineups are being adjusted and set for a championship run. In Week 1, the Houston Texans will take on the Baltimore Ravens in what should be a good game, considering the pieces the Texans have added in the draft and the offseason. Rookie coach DeMeco Ryans makes his debut and C.J. Stroud the new franchise quarterback will be making his as well. Even though the Texans have some excitement and question marks, there is still fantasy value to be had for anyone with a Houston player on their roster. Here are this week’s start ’em and sit ’ems.
