NFL schedules set for May 11 release

NFL seems to finally be getting around to releasing the schedule.

If you watched the draft this weekend, you may have seen the NFL commercial that was hyping up this year’s schedule and the release of which as a major event. While the significance of that release is debatable, it is something we would like to know sooner rather than later.

Also if you saw that commercial, you have have been waiting until the end of said commercial for a release date. And what you were met with was a meaningless — and rather annoying — “Coming soon”. That tells us nothing we didn’t already know. At best it’s an announcement that there will be an announcement… at some point.

Well, it looks like we may finally have a schedule release date. The league is targeting Thursday May 11 to release the schedule according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The schedule didn’t used to take this long to come out. And we’d hear about the international match-ups well before that. This year, it’s already May and still nothing.

We have all known the opponents home and away since early January. But the NFL must now overthink everything in an effort to bleed every possible penny out of how they arrange those matchups. Not to mention hyping up the schedule release itself and waiting until after the draft, so it too can be treated as if it’s a national holiday or something.

So, mark those calendars for May 11 for those who observe.
