Los Angeles Rams at Denver Broncos odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing the Los Angeles Rams at Denver Broncos preseason Week 3 matchup, with NFL odds, lines, picks, predictions and best bets.

The Los Angeles Rams (0-2) and Denver Broncos (2-0) will wrap up their preseason slate Saturday night with the third of three exhibition games for each team. Kickoff will be at 9:05 p.m. ET at Empower Field at Mile High. Below, we look at the Rams at Broncos odds and lines, and make our best NFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Rams dropped their first two preseason games to the Los Angeles Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders while scoring a total of 22 points. They’re one of the few teams that aren’t playing any of their starters in the preseason, which is a precaution taken by head coach Sean McVay.

The Broncos have looked extremely impressive in their two preseason games. They crushed the Minnesota Vikings 33-6 in the opener, then rolled over the Seattle Seahawks 30-3 last week. It helps that they have two starting-caliber quarterbacks playing in Teddy Bridgewater and Drew Lock, but the team as a whole has played well.

Rams at Broncos odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Broncos 24, Rams 20

Money line

This game looks lopsided on paper, with the Broncos being -450 favorites on the money line. The Rams have a chance to pull off the upset, but they’ll be starting QB Bryce Perkins and letting him play the entire game. He may not even make the 53-man roster, either.

I would PASS on the money line for both teams and bet on the spread instead.

Against the spread

Even with Bridgewater being named the Week 1 starter, he’s going to play against the Rams Saturday night, getting the first reps under center before Lock takes over at some point. That’s two quality quarterbacks who will play for the Broncos, compared to the Rams’ third-stringer in Perkins.

However, Perkins looked more comfortable as last week’s game went on and he should carry that over to this game when he’s expected to play every snap. He’ll play well for Los Angeles and keep the Rams in this game.

Bet the RAMS +7.5 (-112) to cover.

Over/Under

The Broncos haven’t allowed a touchdown all preseason and scored 30-plus points in each game. The Rams defense has played relatively well so far despite only deploying backups and role players, but this is a new test with two solid quarterbacks on the other side.

I like the OVER 33.5 (-110) with both teams likely to find the end zone a few times.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Houston Texans odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Houston Texans preseason Week 3 matchup, with NFL odds, lines, picks, predictions and best bets.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-2) meet the Houston Texans (2-0) Saturday for an 8 p.m. ET kickoff at NRG Stadium. Below, we look at the Buccaneers vs. Texans odds and lines, and make our best NFL picks, predictions and bets.

The defending Super Bowl champs have posted an 0-2 SU/ATS mark in the first two preseason outings, including a 34-3 blowout loss against the Tennessee Titans last time out. The Bucs rested most of their key personnel in that loss and they’re unlikely to use most of the starters in this one either.

The Texans are expected to be in for a rough ride in 2021 but the preseason has gone well. Houston won 26-7 at Green Bay Aug.14, and they topped the Lone Star State rival Dallas Cowboys 20-14 on the road last Saturday. Rookie QB Davis Mills was 10-for-16 for 115 yards while RB Mark Ingram rushed for the team’s lone offensive touchdown.

Buccaneers at Texans odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Texans 20, Buccaneers 17

Money line

The TEXANS (+160) are worth playing on their home field in the preseason finale as they look to wrap up the exhibition season with a perfect record.

The Buccaneers are likely to rest key personnel again rather than risking them in a meaningless game. Tampa knows what QB Tom Brady can do.

Against the spread

The TEXANS +3.5 (-112) are worth a look with the three and a hook. They have three NFL-caliber quarterbacks in Mills, Jeff Driskel and Tyrod Taylor so you can expect much better offensive results from the home side.

Over/Under

OVER 36.5 (-110) is worth a look, ever so slightly. Houston’s offense rolled up 247 passing yards and 95 rushing yards last week in Dallas. It isn’t expected to last into the regular season but the Texans should finish up strong and post another decent total.

The concern for the Over is actually whether Tampa can score enough points in this meaningless game for the defending champs.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Carolina Panthers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Friday’s Pittsburgh Steelers at Carolina Panthers preseason Week 3 matchup, with NFL odds, lines, picks, predictions and best bets.

The Pittsburgh Steelers (3-0) meet the Carolina Panthers (0-2) Friday for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff at Bank of America Stadium. Below, we look at the Steelers vs. Panthers odds and lines, and make our best NFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Steelers fired out to a 23-0 lead through three quarters against the Detroit Lions last Saturday before settling for a 26-20 win. Pittsburgh has still covered two of its three preseason games despite Detroit earning the backdoor cover.

The Panthers struggled in a 20-3 loss last weekend against the visiting Baltimore Ravens. They have managed just 1 touchdown with 5 field goals through two preseason outings.

Steelers at Panthers odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Steelers 19, Panthers 13

Money line

The STEELERS (+160) are underdogs and that makes them a tremendous value. The Panthers have shown very few signs of life in the preseason and their offense has left a lot to be desired. Enjoy the value.

Against the spread

The STEELERS +4.5 (-112) are a great pick with four and the hook if you’re not feeling them to win straight up.

While I think Pittsburgh gets it done – whether they rest a lot of starters or not – they’re a great play with the points. The Steelers are 2-1 ATS in the preseason and they would have been 3-0 ATS if not for a late fourth-quarter rally by the Lions last time out.

Over/Under

UNDER 34.5 (-107) is the best play on the board. Carolina has found the end zone just once so far through two preseason games and they were limited to a field goal against the Ravens last time out.

Indianapolis Colts at Detroit Lions odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing the Indianapolis Colts at Detroit Lions preseason Week 3 matchup, with NFL odds, lines, picks, predictions and best bets.

The Indianapolis Colts (2-0) meet the Detroit Lions (0-2) Friday for a 7 p.m. ET kickoff at Ford Field. Below, we look at the Colts vs. Lions odds and lines, and make our best NFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Colts scratched out a 12-10 road win against the Minnesota Vikings in their second preseason game, winning outright as 1.5-point underdogs. They pushed as three-point favorites in their preseason opener Aug. 15 against the Carolina Panthers. Indianapolis has allowed 14.0 PPG in the two outings.

The Lions had a late fourth-quarter rally with reserves in week 2 of the preseason, rattling off 20 points to grab a backdoor cover in Pittsburgh. That was fine for bettors, but they fell behind 23-0 with guys who are competing to make the team and that’s a problem.

Colts at Lions odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Colts 19, Lions 13

Money line

The COLTS (-133) have been finding a way to win games in the preseason with the first- and second-team offenses managing to cobble together scoring drives. That’s a good sign and it’s something we haven’t seen from the Lions yet.

Just play the Colts straight up as they’re not terribly expensive for a team looking to stay perfect in preseason play.

Against the spread

The COLTS -2.5 (-112) actually won their two preseason games by an average of 2.5 points, so do with that what you will. The offense has moved the ball well in the early game, and the defense was markedly better in Minnesota than in their opener – and that’s the biggest thing to take away here.

The Lions have really struggled and that’s likely going to be a theme again in 2021.

Over/Under

UNDER 33.5 (-115) is the play in this preseason finale. While the Colts have been marching the ball up and down the field on offense, especially early in games, they have settled for a lot of field goals.

The Lions scored 20 last time out but that was mostly with guys who aren’t likely to make the final roster. The starters have done nothing to date.

Play the Under.

Chicago Bears at Tennessee Titans odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Chicago Bears at Tennessee Titans preseason Week 3 matchup, with NFL odds, lines, picks, predictions and best bets.

The Chicago Bears (1-1) meet the Tennessee Titans (2-0) Saturday for a 7 p.m. ET kickoff at Nissan Stadium. Below, we look at the Bears vs. Titans odds and lines, and make our best NFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Bears were obliterated last time out against the visiting Buffalo Bills, falling 41-15 as 4.5-point favorites. Buffalo took care of the Over on its own, and Chicago has allowed the most points of any team so far this preseason.

The Titans defense has been on fire to date, blasting Atlanta 23-3 on the road Aug. 13, and 34-3 on the road against the defending-champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers Saturday despite resting several key starters, including QB Ryan Tannehill, RB Derrick Henry and WRs A.J. Brown and Julio Jones.

Bears at Titans odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Bears 23, Titans 19

Money line

The BEARS (-130) are a decent play straight up. Rookie first-round pick QB Justin Fields will start, and it’s unlikely starting QB Andy Dalton sees much time in this one.

The Titans (+105) will be playing in front of their home fans for the first time since Dec. 22, 2019 without any COVID-19 restrictions on attendance. It remains to be seen if they’ll still rest the starters, going with QBs Matt Barkley and Logan Woodside under center. If so, Chicago should roll to the easy win.

Against the spread

The BEARS -2.5 (-108) are worth playing lightly as the Titans +2.5 (-112) haven’t been very keen on playing key personnel so far this preseason. Head coach Mike Vrabel knows what he has among the skill position players, so it’s unlikely the starters see much, if any, playing time. Play the road team, as they have key position battles still being worked out.

Over/Under

OVER 36.5 (-120) is the slight lean, but know you’ll be going against an overall trend of Under results so far this preseason. Both of these teams did hit the Over last time out with Tennessee’s offense rolling up 34 points. Chicago’s defense also coughed up 41 points, so the Over looks good here.

Baltimore Ravens at Washington Football Team odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Baltimore Ravens at Washington Football Team preseason Week 3 matchup, with NFL odds, lines, picks, predictions and best bets.

The Baltimore Ravens (2-0) meet the Washington Football Team (1-1) Saturday for a 6 p.m. ET kickoff at FedEx Field. Below, we look at the Ravens vs. Washington odds and lines, and make our best NFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Ravens defense has been on point so far in the preseason posting a 17-14 win over New Orleans at home Aug. 14, and a 20-3 victory on the road against the Carolina Panthers Saturday. They have covered each preseason game while hitting the Under in both outings.

Washington fell 22-13 in the preseason opener, Aug. 12, before bouncing back with a 17-13 victory Friday against the Cincinnati Bengals. WFT have failed to cover each game while the Under has connected.

Ravens at Washington odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Ravens 20, Washington 12

Money line

The Ravens (-200) will cost you two times your potential return in this Beltway preseason battle. That’s just a little too expensive for an exhibition game – especially for a road team.

AVOID and play the spread instead.

Against the spread

The RAVENS -3.5 (-107) have covered the spread in each of their first two preseason games, while Washington +3.5 (-115) has failed to cover in either of its outings. Look for a low-scoring defensive battle in favor of the visitors.

Baltimore has won 19 consecutive preseason games dating back to 2015, and they tied Vince Lombardi’s streak with the Green Bay Packers set back in 1959-62. Look for the Ravens to make history in this road battle.

Over/Under

UNDER 33.5 (-120) is the lean in this final preseason battle for these neighbors. Both sides have hit the Under in their two preseason battles so far, and there is no reason to believe something will change Saturday.

Green Bay Packers at Buffalo Bills odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Green Bay Packers at Buffalo Bills preseason Week 3 matchup, with NFL odds, lines, picks, predictions and best bets.

The Green Bay Packers (0-2) meet the Buffalo Bills (2-0) Saturday for a 1 p.m. ET kickoff at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Below, we look at the Packers vs. Bills odds and lines, and make our best NFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Packers have struggled in the preseason falling to the Houston Texans by a 26-7 score Aug. 14, and 23-14 against the New York Jets Saturday. Green Bay posted just 143 passing yards and 135 rushing yards against the Jets.

The Bills rolled up 41 points in Chicago against the Bears last Saturday, the most points scored by any team so far this preseason. They also picked up a 16-15 win Aug. 13, on the road against the Detroit Lions.

Packers at Bills odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Bills 24, Packers 13

Money line

The Bills (-370) will cost you nearly four times your potential return, and that’s not a good bet in the preseason, or otherwise.

AVOID and play the spread instead.

Against the spread

The BILLS -8.5 (-108) are likely to use QB Josh Allen very little, but backup QB Mitchell Trubisky shows how much depth Buffalo has at the position. Allen didn’t even play in the team’s 41-15 blowout win last weekend. Whether or not Allen plays, take the Bills.

QB Aaron Rodgers isn’t likely to play for the Packers, and if he does, it will be a cameo. QB Jordan Love (shoulder) is out with a shoulder, so the Pack doesn’t have a ton of depth at the position at the moment.

Over/Under

OVER 34.5 (-112) is worth a look, as the Bills offense has been on point with or without Allen. The Packers have struggled to put up points, as Rodgers has sat and Love has been injured, but the reserves could strike late to push this one over the top.

Minnesota Vikings at Kansas City Chiefs odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Friday’s Minnesota Vikings at Kansas City Chiefs preseason Week 3 matchup, with NFL odds, lines, picks, predictions and best bets.

The Minnesota Vikings (0-2) meet the Kansas City Chiefs (2-0) Friday for an 8 p.m. ET kickoff at Arrowhead Stadium. Below, we look at the Vikings vs. Chiefs odds and lines, and make our best NFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Vikings were on the short end of a 12-10 score against the Indianapolis Colts Saturday. The Vikings have been outscored 45-16 through two preseason losses and non-covers. The good news is that the defense was much better in the second game than the opening loss.

The Chiefs are aiming for a third win and a perfect preseason. They posted a 17-10 win at the Arizona Cardinals Aug. 20, and they won at the San Francisco 49ers Aug. 14. Kansas City has covered both games while hitting the Under in each.

Vikings at Chiefs odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Chiefs 20, Vikings 17

Money line

The Chiefs (-200) will cost you two times your potential return in this preseason finale. However, after QB Patrick Mahomes dropped back to pass 20 times in Arizona and RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire suffered an ankle injury, don’t be surprised if K.C. plays it safe and rests plenty of key personnel.

AVOID and play the spread instead.

Against the spread

The VIKINGS +3.5 (-110) are worth a roll of the dice. Yes, they have been brutal on offense, but they might leave their starters in a little longer in this preseason finale, trying to kick-start things. Conversely, the Chiefs are likely to play it safe, so Minnesota is the play with the 3 and a hook. I expect the latter to come in handy.

Over/Under

UNDER 38.5 (-108) would be a criminally low number during normal circumstances. However, the Chiefs starters are likely to see little action, and the Vikings offense has been brutal and showing no signs of life to date. Therefore, the Under is the play.

Philadelphia Eagles at New York Jets odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Friday’s Philadelphia Eagles at New York Jets preseason Week 3 matchup, with NFL odds, lines, picks, predictions and best bets.

The Philadelphia Eagles (0-2) meet the New York Jets (2-0) Friday for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff at MetLife Stadium. Below, we look at the Eagles vs. Jets odds and lines, and make our best NFL picks, predictions and bets.

Philly was annihilated 35-0 by the visiting New England Patriots last time out. The Eagles have dropped each of their two preseason games despite being favored in each. They have been outscored 59-16 in the two outings.

The Jets registered a 23-14 road victory against the Green Bay Packers Saturday, winning and covering for the second time in as many road preseason games. They have outscored the opposition 35-21 in the two games.

Eagles at Jets odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Jets 23, Eagles 16

Money line

The Jets (-200) are looking to cap off an undefeated preseason, and rookie QB Zach Wilson has no turnovers, no sacks, no pre-snap penalties and no three-and-outs so far in two appearances. While that’s promising, the two opponents (New York Giants and Packers) haven’t started any top-notch defensive linemen.

As such, the Jets being rather moderate favorites remain risky, especially costing two times your potential return.

AVOID and play the spread instead.

Against the spread

The JETS -3.5 (-107) are worth a look laying the points. It isn’t so much that they have been impressive. They have been, but it’s more a bet against the Eagles +3.5 (-115). Philadelphia was pounded 35-0 last time out and the offense has really struggled.

Over/Under

OVER 33.5 (-115) is the play in this all-important third game for both sides. We should see Wilson play an extended period, and the Philadelphia starting offense will get extra opportunities to get on track and put up some points. Look for both offenses to find plenty of open spaces.

Jacksonville Jaguars at New Orleans Saints odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing the Jacksonville Jaguars at New Orleans Saints preseason Week 2 matchup, with NFL odds, lines, picks, predictions and best bets.

The Jacksonville Jaguars (0-1) meet the New Orleans Saints (0-1) Monday for an 8 p.m. ET kickoff at Caesars Superdome. Below, we look at the Jaguars vs. Saints odds and lines, and make our best NFL picks, predictions and bets.

The Jaguars were defeated soundly by the visiting Cleveland Browns 23-13 in the preseason opener. Jacksonville was blanked across the first three quarters before finally scoring with its reserves in the fourth. Rookie QB Trevor Lawrence made his debut and was 6-for-9 passing with 71 yards and no touchdowns or interceptions.

The Saints were bounced 17-14 in Baltimore by the Ravens, despite holding a 14-6 lead late in the second quarter of their preseason opener. QB Jameis Winston tossed 1 touchdown and RB Tony Jones Jr. ran in the other.

Jaguars at Saints odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Saints 22, Jaguars 16

Money line

The Saints (-200) will cost you two times your potential return if you bet them to win straight up and that’s just too much unnecessary risk for a preseason game.

AVOID, and play the spread instead.

Against the spread

The SAINTS -3.5 (-110) are a much better play laying the points, although I’m never a big fan of three and a hook.

New Orleans looked like a very functional offense against a good Baltimore defense last week in the first half. Winston, QB Taysom Hill and company will look to take another step forward in the post-Drew Brees era. These preseason games matter to the Saints who are looking to build momentum into the regular season.

Over/Under

UNDER 39.5 (-110) is the way to go here as this number is quite high for the preseason. In the first weekend of exhibition games, the Under cashed in 13 of 16 outings.

The Under outpaced the Over 9-5-1 through Saturday’s Week 2 action. Keep slamming the Under until further notice, although this one could be a close shave.
